PSE 8 and Premier Elements 8--A New PC

I've got about 26,000 photos and 30 hours of video on an older pc running XP Pro.  I need to transfer all of this onto a new pc running Windows 7.
I've got the photos and videos backed up on an external hard drive, so reinstalling the two programs and the files onto the new pc is time consuming but should not be a big deal--unless I am missing something.  Am I?.
More importantly, where do I find the catalog files that link the information in the Organizer with the actual files?  And, is there anything else I should transfer so I don't mess this up?  And, will the actual catalog files be meaningful since the new path [on the new pc] will, no doubt, be specified in some different manner?
Thanks to everyone for any assistance.

  • Issues with Adobe PSE 12 and Premier Elements 12 plus DiskWarrior 4.4

Since upgrading to the final version of OS X 10.10 Yoesemite I have issues with Adobe PSE 12 and Premier Elements 12 plus DiskWarrior 4.4. I don't recall their being any issues while I went through the Beta testing process.  The Adobe products (PSE and PE) give me a configuration message "error 16" and it tells me to uninstall and reinstall. I have done this a few times/  It seems to go through the whole install process until the startup where it crashes.  I downloaded PSE 11 and at least it starts up but I haven't used it to do anything.  Also DiskWarrior 4.4 does not load up from the hard drive anymore (error message) and when I boot it up from disk is doesn't give me the option of correcting permission when repairing files and folders.
At lease all of otheother software including Photoshop Lightroom 5.6 seem to be working.
    Very sad

    Barbara,
Yes, I accessed the "updates" menu from the Help pull-down menu.  I also accessed the updates using the Mac Terminal application with results shown in my original post.  Regardless of whether I used the Help menu or the Mac Terminal app, the AAM tool still responded with:
    Update Failed
       Updates could not be applied
The error log file may help you in identifying the problem.  The, try updating again.  If the problems persist, contact customer support for further assistance.
The error log file read as follows:
       Photoshop Camera Raw 8.5
There was an error installing this update. Please quit and try again later. Error Code: U44M1I210
Looking at the the output of the Mac Terminal app, it shows:
... hdiutil: attach failed - no mountable file systems
       Is this relevant?
Regarding your follow-up message pointing to:
Update 12.1 installation errors | Photoshop Elements, Premiere Elements,
the files referenced in this link are present, are correctly named, and they are in the correct locations, so it would appear that these issues are not related to the ACR 8.5 update problem
    Thanks

  • PSE 12 and Premier Elements 12 Sound Card Compatibility

Specs say need a Direct X 9 or 10 sound card or one that is compatible.  Is DTS sound+ card compatible?  Found a Windows laptop on a Black Friday special that meets all the other requirements but can't find an answer about the sound card.  Hope someone has a quick answer since the sale on the laptop ends tomorrow.  Thanks.
And now I know thre answer to my question.  After almost an hour on the phone with HP, I know that the sound cards are compatible--the tech that helped was really great and ended up running around their call site to check with other tech reps to find the answer.  Apparently not a very common question, since before I submitted my question here, I had talked with Best Buy and the tech I spoke with there didn't have the answer.
Thanks to all who stopped to look at my question.

if you downloaded the premier elements 12 install file, search for recent files.
if you can't find it, redownload it.

  • PSE 11 and Premier Elements 11

Since upgrading from OS X Mountain Lion to Mavericks, I am unable to import files into either of the programs.  On selecting import, the finder window opens but once I select 'Pictures' the pictures screen opens than immediately closes.  After this, the programs are frozen requiring a force quit.  This is dreadful as I need both programs all the time and I don't know what to do.  I hope that Adobe or Apple will issue an update soon but is there any advice for me please.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled both programs with no change.  Other programs includeing Lightroom 5 seem to be working OK. I have an iMac 2012/3 model, i7 and 12gb memory.

Adobe chooses to make a new version of Elements software every year as a way to generate revenue to continue to pay their employees and cover other expenses.  Work goes into supporting new cameras so why shouldn’t Adobe get paid to do that?
Adobe also chooses to not support more than 2 or 3 OS versions back so they can take advantage of newer services that newer OSes supply.  Software can’t really be written to take advantage of newer things and still also do things the old way so Adobe chooses new OS services over old.
You might want to complain to Apple and/or Microsoft about releasing new OSes, but of course they do that for the same reason Adobe does, to generate revenue, and take advantage of newer hardware, that the computer-manufacturers keep improving to generate more revenue for their employees.
Nikon does the same thing with their camera hardware and software, and you chose to help with their revenue.   In the case of a new camera it does new things better so you want to buy it.  Adobe software that you pay again for is similar, except its “new things” are supporting new cameras and new operating systems, rather than just providing new image processing functions.
I’m sure Corel would be happy to have a new customer.

  • Is anyone else having Config error 16 issue when trying to start PSE 12 or Premier Elements after Mac upgrade to Yosemite 10.10 on iMac

Is anyone else having Config error 16 issue when trying to start PSE 12 or Premier Elements 12 after the Mac upgrade to OS X Yosemite 10.10 on iMac. I have had a number of issues with software and things after upgrading to OS X Yosemite 10.10 and even 10.10.1.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled both PSE 12 and Premier Elements 12 a number of times and everything goes fine until its ready to launch and then you get an error message. Numerous uninstalled and reinstalls don't removing the problem.  Strangely enough  PSE 11 still appears to boot up and I never owned Premier Elements 11 so I don't know if it will start. I thought with Apple dropping its Apeture software and greater integration of iPhoto and Apeture files into Lightroom 5.7 all would be harmonious between these two players. Im not sure where Adobe wants us to go it recently removed the plugin to allow you to update files from LR to Adobe Revel, whats up with that. I now own two version of Adobe software that no longer work with my Mac and now way of uploading pictures from Lightroom to Revel. Needless to say I am pretty reluctant to sign on to a subscription of Creative Cloud with long term financial obligations when I can't even get my current Adobe software to work independently much less integrate with Lightroom. Frustrated with it all!

Get rid of 'put disks to sleep when possible' and you may see a dramatic improvement (not necessarily a cure).
That specific problem is a multiple-Processor (including graphics processor) problem, where one of the processors lost track of whether it should be responding to interrupts. You may have a Hardware problem.

  • Elements 11 and Premier Elements 11 installation

I intend to install elements 11 and premier elements 11 as replacements for older versions.  Should I install elements (with it's organizer) first ? Or does it matter?

When you install either of PSE or PRE, organizer is installed along with. You can have older versions along with the new ones. They all would work individually as well.

Let us go through the usual drill on this...Premiere Elements 13 on Windows 8.1 (assumed 64 bit)
    1. Are you running the program from a User Account with Administrative Privileges? Go to Local Disk C/Program Files/Adobe/Adobe Premiere Elements 13, find the Adobe Premiere Elements.exe file, right click it, select and apply Run As Administrator from the pop up menu that appears, and then double click that file to determine if you can open the program from it.
    2. Does the problem issue exist with and without the antivirus and firewall(s) disabled?
    3. Are you working with a pen and tablet device instead of a mouse?
    4. How many video cards/graphics cards do you find under Device Manager/Display Adapters, what card name, driver date and up to date version number?
When you say it will not run...how far into the program do you get...
    a. no further than the Welcome Screen and Video/New Project
    b. other
If non of the above gets us anywhere, we may go for
    a. deletion of the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file and, if necessary, the whole 13.0 Folder in which it exists
    and, if necessary, then
    b. the uninstall, free ccleaner run through, and reinstall with antivirus and firewall(s) disabled.
    Details to follow if needed.
We will be watching for your results and then decide what next.

  • 64-bit Photoshop Elements 12 and Premier Elements 12

    Hi All,
I'm new here and I have not had good luck searching the FAQs so, here I am.  I have a new laptop with Windows 8.  I just purchased Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 and Premier Elements 12 and installed them.  My OS  is x64 but the install didn't give me a choice.  Now I notice that they are 32-bit versions installed.  Simple question...Do they come in 640bit?  If so, how do I get it?  64 bit can access more RAM so it would definitely be better.
    Thanx

    Ned,
Thanx so much for pointing me in that direction.  It definately says, " and in 64-bit or 32-bit mode on Windows 7 and Windows 8 & 8.1;" which means it should be able to run in 64- mode but I'm not sure how to make that happen.  I work for a software company and our software has two different versions that are installed.  So do you know if I have the wrong version or do they have some kind of switch that I missed setting on installation?
    Thanx

  • Deleting photoshop elements and premier elements

After installing version 11 of protoshop elements and premier elements I find that I still have in the Adobe folder in the windows "program folder" photoshop elements 6 and one-on-one essentials.  None of these show up in the control panel list of programs to uninstall.  Do I need any part of photoshop elements 6 or one-on-one or can I merely delete the folders and all their contents.
Other Adobe programs I have installed are Reader X, Flash Player 11 and Adobe Air.

Each version of PSE is a self contained program and there is no need to delete earlier versions which work with the same images on your hard drive, without duplication.
I keep earlier versions as they often have different templates for creations and on-line galleries etc. It gives me the greatest choice. Normally I would say go ahead and uninstall earlier versions if you are short of disk space and don’t need them. However, if you don’t have the uninstall function via the control panel I would suggest you leave things as they are, as removing PSE6 in the past has been known to cause problems.

  • Installing Photoshop and Premier Elements 12

I just purchased the CD-ROM for Photoshop and Premier Elements 12. I already have Elements 8 installed. Question do I do an uninstall of 8 and than do a fresh install of 12?
If I do the uninstall are there any remnants of files that might not uninstall when going to control panel and uninstall and if so where might they reside?
    Thanks

you can deactivate (help>deactivate) and uninstall pse 8 if you no longer need it and you can do that before or after you install pse 12.  or you can leave it installed and use both versions.
