PSE 8 Editor crashes on launch

When I try to start the editor in PSE8 the editor workspace appears to be loading then I get a crash report stating that " Adobe has detected the application Elements Organizer has unexpectedly quit" (see below).
I have tried uninstalling then reinstalling PSE8 with no change.

what are your systems requirements ? Does it fulfill the application's requirement ?
please confirm it once from Adobe's site

PSE 12 Editor is not launching - Window opens and asks for registration

I have PSE 12 (German Version) and had this successfully installed and working on my home desktop. End of January I moved to the US for some months and have installed my PSE 12 on my laptop (Win 8). I have moved the entire cataloque according to instructions from the desktop to an external hard disk and reconnected it with the new installation. After checking my installation of PSE 12 on the laptop (everything worked fine) I have deleted the installation on my desktop.
After a good week, today I have tried to launch PSE Editor (from the main start window, where it offers on the top left the Organizer and right the Editor (as buttomns). As soon as I press the Editor bottomn, a new window opens and requests me to do registration of my product "within 7 days - otherwhise I can no longer use the software". Again this is a German Version and I just translate. In this window, I can enter my Adobe ID & password, which I did. Some seconds after entering my access data the window closes and shows the PSE launch window again. When I then want to launch the Editor, the same cycle starts: The window opens, requesting to do my registration.
I can open the Organizer with no problem and it works. But even from the organizer I can not launch the Editor.
My account shows that I have successfully registered my S/N & Product, which I did back some month ago when I had purchased it.
Who can helpl me?

PSE 6 is indeed compatible with Windows 7 -- many people have reported successfulling using it. (But Adobe won't provide any support.) See this FAQ:

PSE 12 EDITOR CRASHES

The PSE editor keeps crashing. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Concerning the PSE-12 Editor, I find that this crashes after editing 10 to 20 JPEGs of ~20 Mpixels (not tried raw files yet). I have used at least three earlier versions of the editor on the same machine and in the same circumstances and none of them ever crashed (unlike the Organizer).
The crash either leaves a trace in the Event Log, just blocks, so one needs to kill the process with the Task Manager, or says that it has a lack of memory. These are the symptoms of a classic memory leak.
After getting advice from Adobe, I switch off all start-up processes with MSCONFIG, but the Editor still crashed (after 25 files this time).
Does anyone else have this problem? I would be very surprised if I am the only one...

PSE 7 Editor Crashes

I am using PSE7 on Windows 7 Pro. Have used this in the apst no porblem. The editor now crashes each time I try to bring it up. I have already renamed the TWAIN file with a ~ in fromt of the name and I have used the ctl+shift+alt to reset the editor settings file. All of these have not yeilded any results. The only software upgrade performed since loading PSE 7 has been to uninstall Adobe Acrobat Reader and install the latest Adobe Acrobat Reader Software.

PSE 9 Editor crashes at start up

Hoping someone can help! I've recieved the PSE9 brand new out of the box, and installed with no problems. I am able to open the organizer, but the editor crashes everytime I try to open it (from the start up menu as well as the organizer). I recieve the message "Photoshop elements Editor has encountered a problem and needs to close"
I have been reading some of the other threads with similar problems had have tried the following suggestions:
1. Removing TWAIN plug in to another file
2. Resetting preferences (ctrl+alt+shift)
3. Disabling the auto-analizer options under preferences in editor
Any help would be greatly appreciated! I tried calling the support line....36 min hold time! Unbelievable!

PSE 9 Editor CRASH (Mac)

Hey all! I need a little help.
While I am trying to edit a photo I often select 'Place', 'Open', and adjust the layers. Since early this morning I have selected 'Place' to import a picture to my canvas in Editor. The program immediately closes and reads "An unexpected error occured." I then re-open and try selecting 'Open' to start editing a photograph not from the Organizer. The program immediately closes and reads "An unexpecte derror occured."
I have reset or deleted the preferences in PSE 9 Editor from the Welcome Screen on my Macbook. I have also renamed the Twain file name, and adjusted the RAM used by my software. I have also updated to PSE 9.0.3. Nothing has worked so far, and I am very confused as to what I should do.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much!

PSE is a 32 bit application, so you can up the ram as far as it will go and it will still not address more than 3.2GB. However, ram-related crashes are almost unknown on macs (if your mac can run a current version of OS X it has enough ram). At this point I would uninstall via the uninstaller, then check around for any left over bits and bobs, and create a new admin user and reinstall there. See how it runs in that account before you switch back to your regular account.

PrE12 video editor crashes on launch

Hello - my first time posting in this forum. I just installed PrE12, and it will not launch the video editor. When I try from the welcome screen, shows the processing bar for a few minutes, and then dumps me right back at the welcome. If I launch the video editor application directly, it crashes at the point where the splash screen says "Loading ImporterQuickTime.prm". I have verified that this file exists in Plug-ins/Common.
I am running Windows 7, and I have the latest QuickTime Player (7.7.4, 1680.86) installed. I have been running PrE8 for years with no issues. This only started happening once I installed PrE12. A search through the forum did not yield any obvious answer. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling PrE with anti-virus disabled to no avail. I tried contacting the support/chat line, but the response said I am not eligible for support, despite having a paid license, which in and of itself it unbelievable. Have to try calling in the morning, but in the meantime...
Has anyone here experienced and solved this problem?

Thanks for the quick suggestions. I think I found what I needed, although I'm not sure why. For anyone who might be having similar problems...
I only found one active elements 8 process (PhotoshopElementsFileAgent). I killed it, but that had no effect (which I guess I would expect).
I then ran PrE12 as the administrator, but had the same problem when I tried to launch the editor from the welcome screen. However, if I launch the editor application directy (rather than going through the welcome screen) as the administrator, it worked! This was not an ideal solution for me. I generally don't run applications with administrator privileges for security purposes, so I continued with your suggestions.
I followed the path you mentioned looking for a Prefs file, but all I found were some logs. No prefs files had apparently been created yet. What I found was that there were two folders that appeared to do the same thing (...Adobe -> Premeire Elements -> 12.0, and ...Adobe -> Premiere Elements 12.0 -> 12.0). When I deleted the 12.0 from the "Premiere Elements" folder, I could open the editor when directly launching the application. However, when I went back to the start menu, it failed again.
Then I deleted both the "12.0" and the "Premiere Elements 12.0" folders. I still could not get to the editor through the default start menu shortcut (i.e., via the welcome screen), but I can launch the editor as long as I select the application directly. I changed the target on the start menu shortcut, and now all is working fine!
So it seems that the problem is related to launching the editor indirectly through either the welcome screen or from within the organizer. Since I am using Lightroom as my catalog, I have no need for the organizer. I consider my issue solved, but this may still be an issue for others...

PSE 12 editor will not launch

I am sorry if this is a duplicate but I don't think my first one posted.
I have the full version but the editor will not launch. It asks for my Adobe password and then the screen goes blank.
Should I uninstall it and try again?

Under C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\12.0\editor\ there are files on the desktop which are not on the laptop (see the next three screen shots). Does this have anything to do with it? Why wouldn’t they be on the laptop since I loaded it from the same CD?
Is the version on the laptop not registered or activated?

What operating system are you using?
Have you applied the latest patch to PSE to bring it up to version 9.0.3?
Have you changed anything to PSE, such as installing a plug-in, or an action, or brushes?
Have you changed anything to your operating system, such as installing new hardware or updating device drivers, or installing or un-installing any software?

PSE 8 Editor will not launch-Please HELP!

I purchased PSE 8 and installed it to my computer, which meets all system requirements.
After everything was installed, I opened and Adobe ID account. When the welcome screen appears and I click on "Edit" the screen says "Launching Editor" for about 3 seconds, stops, and then nothing happens. I read the "Read Me" section that comes with the software and it mentions a problem with the Editor Launcher having trouble initializing. The instructions are to click "Edit" from the welcome screen, then click SHIFT+ALT+CTRL (or whatever order, I've tried everything) and then click "YES" for rebuilding editor launching preferences. Well, when I click "Edit" and SHIFT+ALT+CTRL, NOTHING happens!!!! I don't get any kind of response.
I have unistalled, reinstalled... I am so frustrated. I have used PSE 3 in the past and have never had any trouble. I have already wasted 2 hours on this program and I haven't even used it!

Unfortunately, there are many reasons why the PSE Editor might crash, and often it is hard to diagnose quickly the reason for the crash. Here are some steps you can take to try to fix the problem:

PSE 8 Editor crashes in Adobe Camera Raw

This occurs with either one of these instances--1. When I download a raw file in Editor, or 2. It downloads into Camera Raw, but then crashes when I click on OPen Image. I do have version 5.6 of Camera Raw installed. After it crashes, there is no error message, it just disappears.

That's very possibly the cause of your problems. PSE can get confused when more than one version of ACR is installed. PSE loads every file it finds in the Plug-Ins folder and subfolders, regardless of its name.
Using Windows Explorer, find all versions of the "Camera Raw.8bi" plug-in (including ones you might have renamed or stashed away in subfolders) under
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 8.0\Plug-ins\
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Elements Organizer 8.0\Plug-ins\
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Plug-Ins\
Do Help > About Plug-Ins to verify no version is being loaded.
Then go back to Adobe.com and download and reinstall ACR 5.6, being sure to follow the installation instructions for PSE precisely.

PSE 9 Editor crashes

Hi all,
Just purchased and installed PSE 9. It is installed on Windows XP with SP3, I am running Norton 360 anti-virus and my computer meets all of the other requirements. When I click on the Editor at the Welcome screen, I get the error message that reads, Photoshop elements editor,exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. I am able to open the Organizer and I have also tried to get to the Editor that way, but still receive the error message. After reading many posts, I have tried renaming the Twain plug in, I have reinstalled the program and yes, I made sure that the anti virus was not running and still it crashes! I have tried calling Adobe support and got nothing but some nice music and a very long wait...after an hour on hold, I hung up and am hoping that someone out there can help. I purchased this for my daughters birthday and needless to say, we are a little disappointed.

You will find "no reponse" or "needs to close" errors on the Organize side too. After 5 calls and 4 hours, tech level3 will repair and optimize your catalog. That means all of your organized photos are gone. Sooo never delete your non-Adobe photo folders. I have found no solutions in these several forums but several who have had theories only to have the problem recurr.
Elements is not ready for prime time and should still be in Beta.

Why is my PSE 12 Editor crashing everytime I open it?

I just purchased a new computer. I loaded PSE onto it and it worked fine. Today I open the Organizer, choose a photo I want to edit and click Editor (like I always do). It crashes EVERY SINGLE TIME. I do not know what is going on. Please help.

Start the editor while holding down ctrl+alt+shift. Keep the keys down till you see a window asking if you want to delete the settings file. You do.
Do this from the button in the organizer or the one on the welcome screen.

PSE 13 Editors fails to launch!

Loaded PSE13 from CD to PC hard drive.
Organizer launches and works. But when I click Editor the screen loads but nothing happens ie Editor tabs/icons and the dot circle icon is frozen.
System:
Win7 64bit
Intel i5-3470 3.2GHz. 8G ram, Intel HD GC
