PSE 8 Install issues...STILL

I have been in touch with Adobe support and I still have no answer on my is.  Here it is:
I just bought PSE8/PRE8 as a bundle.  When I go to install the software using the wizard, it gets to the end then begins "Rolling back Installation".  Error reads that Installation was interupted and that nothing was changed on my system.  I contacted the help desk and they told me to follow the 18 steps in the support guide...I did this and nothing.  Again I contacted support...they said try one more step...I did...AND nothing.  So now I am waiting for support again wishing I could use my software that I paid a bit for!  SO...my question is....
Does anyone know what this issue may be and how to fix it?
Thanks for reading.  Please let me know if anyone else knows of this issue.  Thanks again.
Tired Adobe wreck....

Check the workaround mentioned in this thread if that helps you get going:

  • PSE 10 Install issue with Mac OS 10.6.8

    Hi,
I'm having trouble installing a copy of PSE 10 on a Macbook Pro (Intel 2.4 GHz) with Mac OS X version 10.6.8.  I've tried downloading the software twice and get errors on both copies.  Here is the latest error:

The second downloaded version made it farther than the first on the installation.  It makes it to the installation of PSE 10 and then jumps from 60% installed to 98% and shows the above message.  This is getting really frustrating given that it takes me several hours to download a copy of this software.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Barbara,
Thanks for the advice.  Unfortunately, it didn't work.  I deleted (and emptied the trash) of the Adobe folder in the Hard drive>library>application support folders, uninstalled the partial install of PSE 10 using Adobe's uninstall, turned off the antivirus software, and tried installing from a new administrative account.  Here is the error code from this most recent attempt.

This computer has had some previous Photoshop versions migrated to it over the years (Photoshop 4.0 for OS 9, and Photoshop 7.0).  Photoshop 7.0 stopped working after I upgraded the OS from Tiger to Snow Leopard, and I no longer have the disks or serial number so that is why I'm trying install PSE 10.  Could these old versions (which I tried to delete, but did not have a specific uninstall version for) be a source of this issue?  If so, is there a way to make sure they're all gone?
    Thanks

  • PowerBook G4 Install Issue - Still waiting for root device

Hello Everyone and thank you for reading this post.
I have a last generation PowerBook G4 which I wanted to give to a family member since I've upgraded to a newer MacBook Pro.
I started by wiping the hard drive on the PB (in Target Disk Mode) using the Disk Utility application on the MBP using a FireWire 400 <-> FireWire 800 cable.
I verified and repaired the PB HD, no issues found... but that's when things started going bad.  I'm unable to boot from the Tiger Install DVD when I restart the PB (holding down C).  I get as far as selecting the language, at which point the mouse/trackpad work for a second before freezing up.  I'm not able to select a language and that's as far as it goes.
I've also reset the ram and pram (ald+cmd+r+p) with no luck
My latest attempt has been to use the MBP's Disk Utility to partition the HD on the PB (over FireWire) and I also created a Image of the Tiger Install DVD on my MBP. I used the Disk Utility option "scan image for restore" and it checked out ok.
After successfully creating 2 partitions on the PB HD and using Disk Utility to Restore the Tiger Install DVD image to the smaller partition (10GB), I booted the PB holding the Alt key.  As expected it found the Tiger Install DVD image on the HD, I clicked the arrow to continue.
At that point the grey screen with the apple logo appears and after a while it changes to a "forbidden" sign.  Not getting much information from that I rebooted in Verbose mode (Cmd+V) to see what was going on. The attached image is what I see, unfortunately I don't know much about what it is telling me.
Lastly, I thought the RAM might have gone bad and so I removed one of the 2 ram sticks with no luck.  I haven't tried the other RAM stick on it's own yet.
I know this community is full of smart people that might have some suggestion as to what is going on.  Here is hoping someone has an idea to help me along.
    Cheers

    Hello Dalstott;
Thanks for your suggestion and apologies for my late reply.  You're right, I hadn't been paying attention to the partition scheme.
I repartitoned the hard drive (this time watching out for the partition scheme) and tried again, however I'm not out of the woods yet.
With both partitions properly formatted, I restored to the Tiger install DVD image on the smaller one and booted from it.
I booted in Cmd+V mode to see what was going on and it seemed to be doing ok, then the screen switched from the verbose output over to the language selection (beginning of the operating system install).  However it will get stuck there within a few seconds.  The mouse is initially responsive, but after 3-5 seconds the cursor (and keyboard inputs) freeze.
I've tried now a couple of times to click through as many menus as possible before the keyboard/mouse inputs freeze. Sometimes, I get as far as selecting the hardrive to install the operating system on before the clock runs out.
Any idea whould could be going on?  Could this be a RAM issue?
    Thanks for your advice.

  • PSE 10 Install Issue

I've had several issues with all things Adobe since last fall on my Mac OS X.  I've uninstalled PSE 10 about a half dozen times, and reinstalled it.  I just attempted to do it again, as many actions I had saved weren't running properly.  I've done the uninstall per directions, but when I try to reinstall, I get the error message that it failed to initialize.  Can someone help please?
    Thanks Kindly.

Uninstalling and reinstalling is usually the last line of defense, not the first. I would go to your username>library>preferences and delete:
    com.adobe.PhotoshopElements.plist
    Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 settings
    Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 paths
This library is hidden in 10.7 and 10.8. To see it, option+click the Go menu in the finder. It will appear below the little house for your user account. If using 10.7 and 10.8, also go into the Saved Application States folder and delete everything for PSE.
In any version, if you use organizer also delete com.adobe.Elements Organizer10.plist and com.adobe.Elements Organizer.10.0.plist.
Repair permissions afterwards. For your installation problem, I would try creating a new admin account (system preferences>users & groups) and log in there to run the installation. If it goes well, you can delete the new account afterwards.

  • Install Issue for PSE 9

I have PSE 8 installed on a WIN 7 64-bit machine with no issues.  I  purchased PSE 9 and am attempting to install.  I can install Elements  and Organizer but when the install process gets to Shared Technologies  it quits and rolls everythng back.  I sat on the phone listening to  pretty music the better part of an hour before I gave up.  I've turned  off all firewalls, malware, and AVs.  Any clues or places I can contact?   Thanks.

Try the section labelled Error: Below mentioned applications have failed to install: Shared technologies. in the below link and follow the instructions, let us know if that fixes the issue:

  • (Solved) Install Issues

I have been going through the install, installed base, updated and followed wiki for rest of install . However there are 2 issues stopping the finalisation of the install.
    1. Cannot get Xserver to work
    2. Cannot get Gdm to work
I have tried many different configs for xorg.conf, I have I believe install all drivers(as per wiki) and been reading the xorg.0.log file and troubleshooting those errors but still no go. Here is my last log file which really doesn't seem to have any great error at all but still it wont work. Can I get a hand to get this thing going please.

  • Mac OSX: Flash CS3 Font Install Issues

    Hi,
I have a Mac Powerbook G4 with OS X installed and Adobe CS3.
I've installed a font. The font works in Photoshop and Illustrator
but not in Flash CS3. Why? I've put the font in the Library/Fonts
folder and the User/Fonts folder and it still doesn't show up in
Flash. Apparently this is a problem for a number of people see
    another forum here:
    MAC
OSX: Flash CS3 Font Install Issues Forum
Please let me know what to do to fix this. I need to be able
to work with the font in all three applications Flash, Photoshop
    and Illustrator.

    Hi davidd61713525,
Sorry for not getting back to you sooner.
Unfortunately, it looks like something is wrong with the file system and the installer can't see the root drive to install to.  A Google search returns numerous results affecting various products and the recurring theme is that something is wrong with the disk.  There are many recommendations from various sources, but nothing definitive.
Here's a similar thread over on the Apple forums:
Broken Installer Permissions | Apple Support Communities
    And a similar older one:
    http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1203509
I would try the following options:
Try using the PKG installer. This is used Mac SysAdmins to install Flash Player within their organization and uses a slightly different installer path, which may or may not work.
Some people have had success with disk and permissions repair some have not.  You can try running a disk and permissions repair.  After the disk and permissions repair is complete, reboot the system and try to install again using either the online installer (get.adobe.com/flashplayer) or the offline installer, posted at the bottom of the Installation problems | Flash Player | Mac page in the ‘Still having problems’ section.
If these options do not work, I'd reach out to Apple support to see if they have a suggestion.  If you do find a resolution to this, please let me know.  I'll be happy to share it with people that encounter the problem in the future.
    Maria

I have PSE 8 installed do I need to uninstall before installing PSE 12?

No. From the very beginning all versions of PSE have been able to coexist.

Case - CoolerMaster CMP 350 w/500 Watt PSU
    Motherboard - MSI H67A-G43 (B3)
    Processor - Intel i7-2600
    Memory - 16GB (4x4GB) DDR3 1333
Hard Drive - Western Digital Caviar Green 1TB SATA 2
    Video - *multiple cards tested
    Issue
    OS Installation
Video Card - ASUS HD 7850 DirectCUII - Computer POSTs, begins to load Windows 7 setup, freezes on the Windows 7 installer background.
Video Card - GeForce 9300 GE - Computer POSTs, begins to load Windows 7 setup, freezes on the Windows 7 installer background.
Video Card - MSI N430 GT - Computer does not POST.
Video Card - Integrated - Computer boots and completes install of Windows 7 64-bit. Install all drivers, update BIOS to current version.  Attempt to boot with video cards listed above with new BIOS, same issues. (First two hang on Windows logo, 3rd no POST.)
    Attempted Resolutions
As stated, I have tried 3 different video cards, as well as 2 motherboards, both of them MSI H67A-G43(B3).
We have ordered 2 other new motherboards (one ASUS, one Gigabyte) because we need to get this built for the customer ASAP.  However, we have previously used the H67A-G43 boards with no issues.  We would like to be able to use these motherboards on future builds.  What possible solutions are there for these issues?

Tried a battery removed CMOS clear and reset after the UEFI/BIOS update? Tested with another PSU? Tried with just one RAM stick in the primary dimm slot, or with just two sticks?
    Results
1 Stick DDR3 - Freezes in "Starting Windows" screen when video card (HD 7850) installed.  Still works correctly with Integrated.
1 Stick DDR3 + swapping out CoolerMaster 500 Watt PSU for "Power" 500 Watt PSU - Freezes in "Starting Windows" screen with video card.  Using Integrated video, works correctly.
This is on an unflashed H67A-G43 (B3) new out of the box.

  • Did a clean install but still find imac slows significantly as the day goes on. first projects go pretty well. later

did a clean install but still find the imac slows as the hours pass. using photoshop cs5 and lightroom3,
working w/some large files, but previously-like months ago, there was not this slowing problem. even
the internet slows later in the day. and small moves in a program start to take forever. anyone experience this
issue? or have any thoughts on it? thank you

How much free space do you have on your drive?
From the sounds of your problem is sounds like you are approaching a full disk.

  • Installing 10.4.10 and cannot install Mobile Device Support. I have followed the documentation at the support pages and have totally cleaned out Apple software so that I could do a total clean "new" install. Still no success. Any suggestions?

In trying to install iTunes 10.4.1.10 I could not get Apple Mobile Device Support to work. Following Apple support (docs Ht1923 ?71926 + TS1538 et al) cleaned out all Apple software for a "new" install. Still can not get Mobile Device Support to install. What am I missing?

See also Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates if you haven't already done so.
After uninstalling iTunes and the related components it is useful to physically delete any files that may remain in the specified locations before attempting to reinstall.
If that still doesn't work you could try downloading 7-Zip (free), or a free trial of WinRAR, and unpack the iTunesSetup.exe or iTunesSetup64.exe file into its components then try installing them individually in alphabetical order (don't try to install SetupAdmin.exe or iCloud.msi). AMDS might not install right now, but you may get a more useful error message as to why not, and you might be able to run iTunes even if you can't update your devices at this stage.
Make sure you download a fresh copy of the installer as it was updated some time after the initial release.

  • X-Fi Titanium PCI-E x1 and known UT3 OpenAL issue still not fixed!!!!!!!

Dear creative support... wtf is this?! This issue is known since so looooooong time, as i've read at other forums fixed with all other x-fi sound cards but with not my one. Installed yesterday latest beta driver, day before yesterday i've been using stable 2.7.0008 driver and with both versions i got this **bleep** annoying crash.
I want to remember to you issue details: random crashes of game during play it with ingame OpenAL enabled.
I have 5. speakers set and i want to play the game with surround audio, i can get it only by enable OpenAL in game menu so do not even try to suggest to me to disable OpenAL!!! I tried many known "fixes" and workarounds, using latest versions of driver but issue still happens to me.
IF this issue will not be fixed i will buy asus xonar asap, temporary i just have no money to buy new sound card. Gi've me driver fixing this issue, ffs!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Here is full PC configuration:
    AMD Phenom II x4 B35 2,9GHz
    Palit Radeon HD3850 52MB GDDR3 PCI-Ex
    Creative X-Fi Titanium pci-e x
    3xGB Kingmax DDR2 066MHz
    Gigabyte GA-MA785GM-US2H

This is the only game with which i have a problem.
I contacted with support via email form, they suggested to me to contact with game's customer support i did so and waiting for answer from them.
Creative support in answer said that this issue happens not only with creative x-fi products but unfortunately it's not true. In many forums problem were analysed by users and result is one: x-fi users only are facing this issue. Also before i bought card i've been playing long time ut3 with integrated realtek sound card and there was no problem with enabled openal, it shown up when i bought and installed x-fi titanium sound card.

Just tested my simple camera tester with Air 16 Beta and the issue still exists.
Im refering to the issue were the camera stops responding after a number of attaches/detaches to a video object and if attached multiple calls to setMode.
The issue im referring to is Bug#3850401 - Handle leak with video.attachCamera leading to inoperable camera

  • Installed Adobe dlm add-on and now Firfox will not open. I see the process starting in Task Manager but no window opens. Unistalled Firefox then re-installed but still no luck. HELP ME!

''Duplicate post, continue here - [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/793259]''
I installed Adobe dlm add-on and now Firefox will not open. I see the process starting in Task Manager but no window opens. Unistalled Firefox then re-installed but still no luck. HELP ME! I do not want to use IE! I presume it has something to do with Adobe DLM as ever since then it is not working.

I had this problem for a couple weeks as well and it was extremely frustrating considering we use firefox for all our company tasks. Here is the solution:
First of all if you have no bookmarks you want to save, then go directly to step 7. If you want to save your bookmarks first, then follow these steps.
    1. Shut down the computer
    2. Reboot and open firefox
    3. Go to Task Manager, right click firefox.exe, and click END PROCESS TREE
    4. WAIT 30 SECONDS! Then Double-click the shortcut to try and open firefox again
5.Repeat steps 3 and 4 until firefox finally opens (trust me, eventually it will)
    6. Once it finally opens, backup your bookmarks,
    7. Download a copy of firefox from there website
    8. Uninstall from programs menu and make sure to check the box REMOVE ALL COMPONENTS
    9. install the new copy and BOOM! it works
If it doesn't work, you're an idiot. If you don't want to reinstall firefox, then you're out of luck. Good Luck!
