PSE 8 - VIDEO PLAYBACK WON'T WORK

I created a project and was in the later stages of editing. I added a variety of video clips, photos, transistions, etc. All along the way, I was able to playback the video I was creating either throught the main window or if I opened up individual clips. I even burned a draft DVD to play on the TV and had no issues. Now, when I open the same project in PSE 8 and click play nothing happens. I open another project that worked in the past and had the same results, no video playback. The icon changes from |> to = when I click the playbutton. The video just doens not play in edit or organize mode. Although, the video did playback a little jerky before this no play problem occured. The video did play with sound that I added either through the video track or something I added.
I am using a HP M380N computer with Windows Xp Sp3, 3Gb RAM, 10GB available on hardrive(?), NVIDIA FX 5200 video card.
Any advice to solve problem of no playback and jerky playback when I can resume what I was able to do in the past....thanks Gary

This is not really enough to load the program, and open a Project. You need between 30 - 50GB of defragmented free space.
The reason that you could probably playback before, was that you had more room. Now, you have filled your HDD to near total capacity.
I would clear about 30 - 50GB of space, or add additional HDD's, and allocate them differently. See this ARTICLE.
When a HDD gets to about 70% capacity, it begins to slow. the closer to 100%, the more likely that the HDD will fail, and at the very best, you are mechanically stressing the HDD, as the heads have to travel over the entire diameter of the platters.
If you still have issues, after cleaning up the HDD, quite a bit, please offer the full details of the Assets and the Project.

Captivate 7 event video playback controls not working

Hi,
I'm using Captivate 7 and published an mp4 event video with limited playback controls (only play, pause, back, and close) on the slide, since the event video controls won't show up once published. When I publish the HTML5 video (with or without seamless tabbing) the controls are not working. When I click play the video plays and I can pause it, but when I want to continue play, the controls are not working.
I tried only to use the skins (clear, corona, and halo) given with the event video, but then I can't pause the video at all, since the controls are not showing.
We need the video to play in HTML5 mode for iPads and computers, but we're at a loss with the controls. The video has got to be limited to only play, pause, back, and close - no scrubbing or forwarding. Any ideas?

I know you will hate Captivate for this. But if you are publishing to HTML5, the skins you select here won't make any difference as HTML5 output comes with its own mysterious skin which is not visible until you publish and check.
Here is how that skin looks when viewed in Google Chrome browser on my laptop running on Windows 7.
Here is the skin I have used for that in the Captivate editor.
The best way to test these outputs is from a webserver or SCORM Cloud.

Html5 video player won't work with slider script??

Hi - I'm new to html5 and Dreamweaver, but I've worked with html in the past, so most things aspects aren't foreign to me.
My question is this: I'm working with an existing html5 template and it had a slider graphics bar near the top. It works fine and scrolls through three pre-made banners.
The problem is I just added the widget for HTML5 Videoplayer and inserted it into my code. The video box, etc. shows up fine, and will play, but now the slider graphic box at the top doesn't work anymore. Instead it just displays all three banners as images, one on top of the other.
When I look closer at the script code that the widget embeds, it seems as though the script widget code is not playing well with the existing script code. When I remove the script code that the widget installs, the slider works perfectly again (but the video obviously won't play).
The exact code is included below. My question is, how can I make the two of these scripts work together???Any help would be great appreciated. Thanks, Blair

Have reset Firefox & completed all of steps in "Flash video won't play full screen on YouTube, Facebook and other websites", but video still won't work. Help!

I have reset Firefox, completed all the steps in "flash video won't play full screen on YouTube, Facebook and other websites". And the video still won't play in full screen. It will play, but frequently stops or sound continues and picture freezes. I have noticed that if I continually move my mouse, it plays fine. All these videos play fine in IE and Chrome.

Some problems with Flash video playback can be resolved by disabling hardware acceleration in your Flash Player settings. (See [[Flash Plugin - Keep it up to date and troubleshoot problems|this article]] for more information on using the Flash plugin in Firefox).
To disable hardware acceleration in Flash Player:

Pause FMR recording and video playback capture not working??

Hello!
I'm trying to record full motion recording in CAPTIVATE, but the PAUSE feature looks like it is not working for me. I even tried to modify the shortcut key, but nothing works. Anybody else have this trouble or am I missing something obvius here?? I thought that maybe the FMR mode cannot be PAUSED, but nothing on that matter can be found in the manual.
Also, I'm trying to produce e-learning content for PREMIERE and SOUNDBOOTH. I've noticed that video playback within PREMIERE is not captured by CAPTIVATE. I've seen on the forum that others had this issue. Is version 5 of captivate behaving the same? Is it still not possible to capture onscreen video playback?
Any info here would be greatly appreciated.

I'm having the same problem where Captivate 5 in FMR doesn't respond to the Pause key, however I'm noticing that there hasn't been a solution supplied here.
Is there another location/forum where Adobe representatives for Captivate are actively monitoring questions and problems for this product?

Exporting from iMovie to video iPod won't work

Hello everybody,
I am just fooling around with the new iPod my wife gave me for my birthday.
I am trying to get a movie I just finished into my iPod.
As my program is in German, I hope I'll use the correct English words .
In "File" there is the button "Send"; when You choose "Quicktime" and "own settings" there'll be a window "export as...", where You choose "film --> iPod (320*240)" and push the button.
After rendering I dragged the outcome into iTunes, and there from the bibliotheque to the iPod. After that I keep getting the error message (roughly) that my film could not be copied, as the iPod can't play back films like that. There is a link where they promise You further information, but that leads to nowhere.
The film plays back from the iTunes bibliotheque without problem, it's suffix is *.m4v.
Has anybody got a solution (or an idea, at least)?

I didn't know this article, but that's exactly what I did; I just used the greek word "bibliotheque" instead of the latin "library" .
And the suffix of the file after rendering is *.m4v as in the above mentioned article.
Still it won't work.
What can be wrong?

Videos online won't work on my new 2013 13" Macbook Pro

Wifi works perfectly but videos won't show up. Youtube, Hulu+, etc all don't work-- every time I load a page with a video on it, the place where the video is displayed just shows a black square. Nothing happens when I refresh the page/quit out/click on the black rectangle

After the installation, you should repair permissions then restart your computer per Adobe recommendations.

I put a video into edge and it works but the player controls don't show up when you roll over any part of the movie they only show up if you roll over a specific area at the bottom of the video, A very small area. I want them to be there either always or when the user rolls over any part of the video. I attached a link of the video.

Flash video recording won't work

I'm having a a 2013 model 27" Mac, OSX 10.8.4, with Flash Player version 11.8.800.94. It won't let me record, and sometimes not play either, video and audio through an integrated Flash Player in a certain website. I've tried both Safari and Firefox, no joy. Safari version is 6.0.5. When I get to the page where the recorder is implemented, it is displayed as normal, but only says "loading". The Flash player plugin works perfectly in any other web page I have tried, including the test pages on Adobes pages. If I try the same webpage with the Windows laptop I've got (yuck...) it works without any issues.
Now, to make this even more complicated, the issue is valid only for two out of the five accounts we have. Both these accounts use the Parental Control feature in OSX, but I have made it as liberal as possible, and specifically allowed everything for the webpage in question. However, I have a third account with parental control where this is not an issue... I have also tried to remove the parental control with no luck. I have checked all the settings and Global Settings for Flash Player, and made sure everything is allowed.
I guess making a new account could maybe solve the problem, but there's got to be another way?

That says it's an account specific issue and has nothing to do with Flash Player. If it was solely the plugin it would happen on ALL ACCOUNTS, regardless of type.
What software are you using to record?

Msi r6450 video card won't work

just received a new video card and for whatever reason, my pc won't see it. it's the msi r6450 md1gd3 card.
I've got an older gateway desktop with 1pci express slot.
as near as I can tell, the mb is a c51pvgm. it's a model 5220 gateway machine using an amd athlon x2 chip 3800+. it has nvidea onboard 6150le processor. using winxp sp2.
bios is set to recognize the pciexpress slot first. fan comes on within the card but it is not being recognized in the device manager.

We can't support Gateway machines but just MSI stuff. Make sure it is not PCI-E 1.x as a six series Radeon and later PCI-E 2.1 and above card wouldn't work then. To be sure the vga is working test it in another machine

Video Chat won't work in Germany.

Hi, I am new to the discussions board, and I just recently bought an iSight camera so I can chat with and see my family while I'm studying abroad in Munich, Germany. Every time we attempt to do a Video Chat session the window pops up, and says it is connecting with my parents and then stalls for awhile and finally I get a message saying that it did not work because 'Christina Crawford did not respond' (I am Christina Crawford.) However, there was no prompt for me to respond or anything, and I still get the same error message if I try to start the video chat. I know from reading these forums that I may have to change port settings or something, but I don't really know how to do so. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

IChat File Transfer/Video Chat won't work... :(

Hi Everyone,
I am trying to get ichat to allow file transfers/video chatting on my Mac, I have a feeling that the setup through the routers that we have are not allowing it to function as it is constantly giving me errors. My set up is a Cable Modem hooked into a Netgear WGR614 v6 and then an ethernet wire running from that router to a Linksys WRT54G v8. I have the WRT54G set up with the following settings:
IP: 192.168.1.136
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Gateway 192.168.1.1
Static DNS 1 and 2: Are my IP's DNS servers
Static DNS 3 is blank
Local IP address is .199 with a subnet of 255.255.255.128
I have DHCP enabled starting at .200 with 30 users
My computer is also set up statically at port .233.
The Netgear WGR614 v6 is set up with the following settings:
Get IP/DNS dynamically from ISP
DHCP Range from 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.51. Router is on a subnet of 255.255.255.0 the linksys is set up statically to the Netgear
SO, this brings me to my issue, I am trying to get ichat file transfer/video to work, I have followed the instructions for setting up portforwarding from portforward.com for ichat on both the netgear and the linksys. On the linksys, i set the IP address to forward to as my computers (.233)
On the netgear, i set the ip address to forward to as 192.168.1.136 (the static IP of the linksys).
Anyway, I am hoping someone can point out what I am doing wrong as I am still getting this error: An AIM error has occurred. Unable to talk directly to your buddy. I am also getting this error: An AIM service error occurred. The server message was: Serv:RequestTimeout.
My OS X firewall is off.

I am not sure I have understood your Networking here.
You say the Netgear is getting an IP (Via DHCP) from the ISP.
You go onto say it is at 192.168.1.1
It issues IP addresses from 192.168.1.2 through 192.168.1.51 and the Linksys has an IP outside this range at 192.168.1.136
Your computer is at 192.168.1.233
As both devices are using the 192.168.1.xxx group and doing DHCP (even with restricted groups) how does the computer know which one to connect to ?
You should be able to change the group that each device is using for it's own network (I would suggest the Netgear)
You should also turn Off DHCP (to the LAN) in the Netgear so it's own network (subnet) only goes as far as the Linksys.
Similarly in the Linksys make sure DHCP is Off or change the Mac to use Manually (Static) with DHCP.
Both devices can do UPnP found in the Administration tab in the Linksys and the WAN page of the Netgear.
Turn Off/disable all Port Forwarding in both devices.
It may also pay to copy across the Linksys and Computer the DNS server IPs from the Netgear.

After new ISP iChat's Video Chat won't work

I recently moved into a new apartment. After moving in I got At&t DSL service. After setting all this up however video chat has not been working on my Mac.
I connect to the internet wirelessly through my 500GB Time Capsule.
My Modem is a Motorola 2210-02-1006.
I just tried connecting through video chat with just the modem hardwired to the computer not using my wireless router. This still did not work properly.
The error it displays is as follows *"There was a communication error during your chat. *Person* canceled the connection. You can send details about this problem to Apple to help improve future versions of iChat."*
The other person receives the same error except with my name in it.
The other person did not cancel the chat nor did I. Any ideas on why this isn't working properly?

The Motorola you have is a routing modem
The Time Capsule can also route and will do so as the default as will the modem.
Use Airport Utility in Application/Utilities folder and Set the Internet icon screen to Bridge (Off) Mode at the bottom drop down
IT is likely to show an IP starting 192.168.xxx.xxx where the 75s can be seen in this pick (which will come form the Motorola)
Use this page for the Motorola

THat is as far as the default access Info is concerned and down to the Firewall and Security settings.
Pause at this point.
Check the "Local Network" tab as first choice and see if the device does UPnP
Check every other tab across the top and menu down the side to see if UPnP is there.
If the device has it Enable it and Save Settings
If not, then set the Port Forwarding (to the IP your Computer has after making the first change above).

Playback won't work using Mbox as audio device

We were previously using Premiere Elements (we're on version 9.0.1) with a Digidesign 002 as the audio interface and everything worked fine. We have since moved that computer to another workstation with an Mbox Pro, and are having issues whenever the audio hardware and output are set to use the Mbox. Specifically, playback will run for about 15 milliseconds, and then stops. If we set Premiere to use the built-in line out, everything works fine.
I have updated the Mbox drivers with no effect. My hunch is that this also has something to do with having upgraded from Pro Tools 8 to 10, which doesn't seem to use Core Audio the same way, but any help would be greatly appreciated!

Welcome to the forum.
When Audio hardware is not working with an Adobe program, I first look at the ASIO settings. I suspect that you have already checked that out carefully.
Next step, when all setting ARE correct, and I still have issues, I install a free ASIO driver, ASIO4All, and set the Adobe program to use that. It has cleared up all sorts of issues with Adobe programs, with low-end consumer cards to some esoteric pro gear. It's probably the most often recommended "fix" on the Adobe Audition Forum.

Embedded video HTML won't work for mobile

I have a video successfully embessed on my desktop site but I can't get it to work for mobile:

I put the same code in for the mobile version, all I did was change the width and height, can someone please help me fix this?
