PSE 8 Won't Launch After Installing Maverick

I can't open PSE 8 and get an error 150:30.  I tried to use LicenseRecoveryLauncher but it won't open either because it says PowerPC applications are no longer supported.  Can anyone help me get around this issue???

Thank you for your assistance!  I did as you suggested but it still is coming up with the same error about the licensing.  I thought I would uninstall it and then reinstall but it gave me a warning that is needed to make sure before uninstalling to deactivate and remove any serial numbers used when installing it on this machine.  To deactivate I have to launch PSE 8 so I won't be able to follow the rest of the instructions.  It also said that deactivating a serial number will allow you to activate it on another machine.  But I am just reactivating it on the same machine so do you think I can ignor this warning?

  • MacBook Air won't restart after installing Mavericks

My MacBook Air (v Fall 2011) won't restart after installing Mavericks.  I have done the instal several times, done the disk repair, I have had 2 visits to the local Apple store where they installed Mavericks with their software only to return home and have it fail again.  Does anyone know of issues with the SSD or memory?
Next visit to the Apple store is Tuesday morning 12-17-13.  Anywthing that can help us would be appreciated.  Tks David

Ok. Nevermind. I guess I had to Force Quit/Relaunch Finder.

  • My Early 2009 Mac Pro won't restart after installing Mavericks

I have installed Mavericks on my Early 2009 Mac Pro and all seemed to install just fine but when I restart the Mac then it won't get past a grey screen with Apple logo. It seems that it does get reasonabley far into the startup, it gets passed the grey screen with cricling progress thingmy under the Apple logo, then it flashes very quickly and after that it is a grey screen with the Apple logo and no further.
I did try installing Mavericks when it first came out and I had this problem so I just abandoned and reinstalled Mountain Lion from my Time Machine backup. However I thought that with Mavericks now at 9.1, maybe it would work okay this time but no change. However this time I do want to get it working because the lastest Final Cut Pro X requires Mavericks and I do a lot of video editing.
Here are the things I've tried which have made no difference:
Removed all peripherals, so that now nothing is plugged in except the original Apple Keyboard, my Apple trackpad and my Eizo monitor.
I tried starting it in Safe Boot mode but this made no difference.
I started it up in Recovery mode and it will start in Recovery mode. While in Recovery mode I checked the startup hard drive with Disk Utility, the drive is fine, as and I repaired disk permisions which made no difference.
    I zapped the PRAM.
I connected it to my MacBook Pro in Target Disk mode and used ProSoft's Drive Genius 3 to check over the startup hard drive again and check disk permissions and all is well.
    It still will not startup
I would be most grateful if someone could assist.

Take each of these steps that you haven't already tried. Stop when the problem is resolved.
    Step 1
The first step in dealing with a boot failure is to secure your data. If you want to preserve the contents of the startup drive, and you don't already have at least one current backup, you must try to back up now, before you do anything else. It may or may not be possible. If you don't care about the data that has changed since your last backup, you can skip this step.
There are several ways to back up a Mac that is unable to boot. You need an external hard drive to hold the backup data.
         a. Boot into the Recovery partition, or from a local Time Machine backup volume (option key at startup.) When the OS X Utilities screen appears, launch Disk Utility and follow the instructions in this support article, under “Instructions for backing up to an external hard disk via Disk Utility.”
    b. If you have access to a working Mac, and both it and the non-working Mac have FireWire or Thunderbolt ports, boot the non-working Mac in target disk mode. Use the working Mac to copy the data to another drive. This technique won't work with USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth.
    c. If the internal drive of the non-working Mac is user-replaceable, remove it and mount it in an external enclosure or drive dock. Use another Mac to copy the data.
    Step 2
Sometimes a boot failure can be resolved by resetting the NVRAM.
    Step 3
If you use a wireless keyboard, trackpad, or mouse, replace or recharge the batteries. The battery level shown in the Bluetooth menu item may not be accurate.
    Step 4
If there's a built-in optical drive, a disc may be stuck in it. Follow these instructions to eject it.
    Step 5
Press and hold the power button until the power shuts off. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed to boot, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Use a different keyboard and/or mouse, if those devices are wired. If you can boot now, one of the devices you disconnected, or a combination of them, is causing the problem. Finding out which one is a process of elimination.
If you've booted from an external storage device, make sure that your internal boot volume is selected in the Startup Disk pane of System Preferences.
    Step 6
Boot in safe mode. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Post for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
When you boot in safe mode, it's normal to see a dark gray progress bar on a light gray background. If the progress bar gets stuck for more than a few minutes, or if the system shuts down automatically while the progress bar is displayed, your boot volume is corrupt and the drive is probably malfunctioning. In that case, go to Step 6.
If you can boot and log in now, empty the Trash, and then open the Finder Info window on your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) Check that you have at least 9 GB of available space, as shown in the window. If you don't, copy as many files as necessary to another volume (not another folder on the same volume) and delete the originals. Deletion isn't complete until you empty the Trash again. Do this until the available space is more than 9 GB. Then reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode.)
If the boot process hangs again, the problem is likely caused by a third-party system modification that you installed. Post for further instructions.
    Step 7
Launch Disk Utility in Recovery mode (see Step 1.) Select your startup volume, then run Repair Disk. If any problems are found, repeat until clear. If Disk Utility reports that the volume can't be repaired, the drive has malfunctioned and should be replaced. You might choose to tolerate one such malfunction in the life of the drive. In that case, erase the volume and restore from a backup. If the same thing ever happens again, replace the drive immediately.
This is one of the rare situations in which you should also run Repair Permissions, ignoring the false warnings it may produce. Look for the line "Permissions repair complete" at the end of the output. Then reboot as usual.
    Step 8
Reinstall the OS. If your Mac was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you’ll need the Apple ID and password you used to upgrade.
    Step 9
Repeat Step 6, but this time erase the boot volume in Disk Utility before installing. The system should automatically reboot into the Setup Assistant. Follow the prompts to transfer your data from a Time Machine or other backup.
    Step 10
This step applies only to older Macs (not current models) that have a logic-board ("PRAM") battery. Both desktop and portable Macs used to have such a battery. The logic-board battery, if there is one, is separate from the main battery of a portable. A dead logic-board battery can cause a boot failure. Typically the failure will be preceded by loss of the settings for the startup disk and system clock. See the user manual for replacement instructions. You may have to take the machine to a service provider to have the battery replaced.
    Step 11
If you get this far, you're probably dealing with a hardware fault. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider.

  • Lightroom 2 won't launch after install

After installing onto an XP 32-bit machine that already had Lightroom 2 Beta running, Lightroom 2 now refuses to launch. It is an upgrade version loaded from disc but has killed off all the other versions, too.
I have un-installed and re-installed repeatedly - rebooting every time - to no avail. Even a new install of Lightroom 1 won't launch - which makes me wonder if there is a rogue file from the Beta version that needs a serious talking to.
The computer shows the application as correctly installed but it simply won't launch.
    What to do?

    Thanks Lee
Version 2 and Beta preference files no longer exist after uninstalling and V1.0 still refuses to launch even after removing its preferences.
Could there be something in the registry that needs a kick?

I have many problem after I installed Maverick in my MacBook 2009. I can not launch iPhoto, my iPhone can not get wi-fi and I can only open 1 tab in Safari.
iPhoto said "Your photo library is either in use by another application or has become unreadable.
Shut down and restart your computer, and then open iPhoto again. If the problem persists, try rebuilding your photo library. To do this, quit iPhoto, and then reopen it while keeping the Option and Command keys pressed. You can also try restoring your photo library from a backup."
    Please somebody can help me!!!!!!!!!!

  • PSE 8 won't open after installing new Wacom tablet

I have a PC that runs on Windows 7. I received my copy of PSE 8 with my Wacom Bamboo Pen and Touch tablet around Christmas in 2010, and it's never given me any troubles before. About two weeks ago I purchased a Wacom IntuosPro Pen and Touch, and after installing the drivers, I went to open PSE 8 and it refused to open. There is no error message; it simply doesn't open. I've checked Task Manager and I can't find the application attempting to run there, either.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled the program about 4 times now. I've uninstalled the Intuos driver completely. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the Bamboo driver. I've tried running PSE as an administrator, tried restoring it from a previous version, tried opening it from the file location rather than the desktop shortcut, searched for days online for anyone having a similar problem, and nothing has helped. I have a .psd file that I tried opening, and though PSE attempts to open, ultimately it ends with a screen that says "Adobe has detected that the application Adobe Photoshop Elements has unexpectedly quit", and prompts me to send a crash report.
PSE 8 worked perfectly fine the day before I installed the Intuos. I haven't changed a thing with my computer other than installing the Intuos (which again, is now uninstalled) and everything else works the same. I can't for the life of me figure out what to do.
If you can offer me any advice, I would very much appreciate it! I've been using PSE 8 for years and I love it, and I've loathed the last few days of being unable to use it. Thank you in advance!

ok...update...the editor will now open..but can't get the organizer to open.  it just keeps saying "loading the lements organizer workspace.  Eventually that message disappears, but then nothing happens.

  • Safari doesn't launch after installing Mavericks

A couple of days ago, I installed OSX Mavericks, slow at the beggining then everybody goes OK, until I tried to open Safari, no way, I restarted the iMac with no success, the upper bar shows as open, at the side of the apple logo, can open the safari menu there, tried restore safari, unsuccessful too. The display goes a little dimm  when "launching" safari, the icon on the tool bar jumps 2 or 3 times and nothing else happens.

My solution: repair permissions didn't work either, so after downloading the last version of Google Chrome, I decided I will try my last attempt to launch Safari, I used the three fingers gesture to see the open browsers: Firefox, Chrome, and there it was Safari, I clicked on it, and opened right away, then I click the yellow button and it goes on the right of the tool bar, as usual. Tried a few times, with the same result, so Safari opened all the time, just  didn't showed, don't know why, hope this helps to someone else.

  • RH 8 won't launch after install

I uninstalled my previous version of RH6 and downloaded the trial version of RH 8. I installed successfully, but when I try to launch RH HTML, nothing happens. I have IE7 and meet the minimum system requirements posted by Adobe.
Does anyone know what I should do? I've attempted to repair from the Add Programs option on the Control Panel, but still doesn't work. Attempted to uninstall RH8 and re-install, but still doesn't work.....
    Thanks!

    1) Tried starting RH8 using desktop icon, then tried program name of Task bar, then tried double-clicking the Robohtml.exe file....
    2) The hourglass displays for about 15 seconds and it appears to be doing something, but then nothing.

  • Won't restart after installing Mavericks update

i have a Mac Mini that's about 1.5 years old.  I ran time machine and downloaded Maverick and installed it.  It went to restart and never came back on.  Any ideas?

    Fixing a Mavericks Installation Problem
How to manage a failed OS X Mavericks installation | MacFixIt - CNET Reviews.
    Try these in order:
    1. a. Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
        b. Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
    2. Restart the computer in Safe Mode, then restart again, normally. If this doesn't help, then:
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the
COMMAND and R keys until the Utilities menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and
after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears.
Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    3. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
    4. Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks: Reboot from the Recovery HD. Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks from the Utilities menu, and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • Applications won't launch after Installing Safari 3

I recently tried to download and install Safari 3 on Mac OS 10.3.9. After installation, Safari would not launch and neither will Mail. I have since gone back to Safari 1.3.2 but the Mail application still will not launch.
I would greatly appreciate any help! Thanks so much!

    Hi gelatian1
your error message is actually very simple - but due to the long file paths, seems complex...
a file named webcore, located in
    /System/Library/Frameworks/WebKit.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/WebCore.framew ork/Versions/A/
is telling your mac to find something in a file named javascriptcore which is located in
    /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaScriptCore.framework/Versions/A/
and it can't find what it's looking for....because one or other of the files ( never known it to be both ) is corrupted somehow. ( note, this might not be the only problem you have, but it's the one your error refers to... )
Both these files are contained in the safari 3.1 update package.
    soooo, you can either...
1: try downloading the diskimage of Safari 3.1 update for leopard & running it again, hoping that fixes things.
2: try running softwareupdate from the Terminal ( I believe that this bypasses the need for the files which stop you from running Software update normally ) . softwareupdate -l then enter will give a list of the updates that Apple think you need....... softwareupdate -i -a installs all updates that Apple think you need.
3: identify which of the files I first mentioned is at fault & perhaps use Pacifist to extract it from the update package & then place the damaged file manually. hoping that it's the only one.... I don't know if Pacifist works with Leopard update packages... I usually use something called UnPkg, which doesn't recognise the safari 3.1 Leopard package I downloaded , edit - I tried Pacifist & that wouldn't work either for me
Think I'd try 1: first; keeping the dmg in case you need it again.
This applies for you, running Leopard - anyone with 10.3.9 should ignore the above.
