PSE 9.0 get photos?

Why in the devil can I not get photos into Photoshop E
lements?  I have lots of photos stored on an external drive and on my  computer and see no way to "get photos"..If there is a way to do it I would appreciate the help.  Help in PSE 9.0 is no help at all..
Lee.

Got it and it works. Thank you very much.
I did a Hidden Tag search of the Help thing and the User Manual (that I got as a PDF doc off their web site) and could find no information about this change. One would have thought they would have made a point of clarifying the change.

  • Get Photos from PSE 7

If I'm to make the leap to LR (and likely DNG), I'll require it to support the work I've already put into the PSE7 Organizer.  I see that LR 2.4 supports PSE 6 and earlier; I find it odd/concerning that LR 2.4 would not support getting photos from the PSE 7 DB structure.  Am I being punished for keeping current on PSE?  Should I upgrade less frequently ?

Thanks for the response.  I found a similar discussion thread re PSE7 import capabilities after posting my request above.
My thinking/wish was that a point release would address PSE7 issue since its all Adobe software.  On one side, I'd like to think that improving operability with other Adobe products shouldn't require a major enhancement - yes, the DB data model is different, but its still all Adobe's intellectual property.  On the other side, PSE7 isn't that old so I'll continue to orgainize using PSE7 knowing that Lightroom has comparable organization capabilties and the ability to save me hours/day of my time managing and cleaning up my life's work of digital photos.  It's not that I can't accomplish the same tasks with PS 9 and PSE7, its that Le simplifies the tasks by focusing on photography rather than artistic design.  The adjustment brush is amazing.
By the time Lr3 comes out, I'll be due to upgrade my CS2. Could be an Adobe Christmas this year.

  • PSE 9: can't "get photos" from my scanner

I'm running PSE 9 on a Mac using OS-10 Lion.  In Organizer, I try to get photos from my Epson Perfection V500 Photo scanner, but that option is not available in the drop down window.  I have installed all the Epson programs; Twain, Epson Scan, Event Manager, etc., but it still won't work.  How can I get this to work?
    Ron

You don't "download", really. You just move the plug-in that is already there. I gave the mac directions above.
In Windows, go to C:\Program Files [Program Files(x86) for 64-bit systems]\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 9\Optional Plug-Ins\Import-Export, find the Adobe TWAIN driver, and move it to C:\Program Files [Program Files(x86) for 64-bit systems]\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 9\Locales\en_US (this will be different if you aren’t in the US)\Plug-Ins\Import-Export.

  • Trouble "getting" photos in PSE 8 Organizer

I'm trying to bring photos into PSE 8 Organizer. I've used PSE 5 and 6 with no problem. Now I've upgraded my computer to a new, 64-bit Windows 7 computer (Dell Inspiron), and a new PSE 8. I've imported my PSE 6 catalog with, apparently, no trouble.
Now when I try to get new files, I can't select them in the "Get Photos and Videos" window. I can see the files I want, but when I try to click to select them, they either won't select at all, or they select the folder above or below the one I want, or they select a different folder and show a duplicate of the same folder, or the folder I want disappears.
It's the weirdest thing I've ever seen!
    Any ideas what's happening???

Hmm, haven't heard of those symptoms before.
As a workaround, try dragging individual files, selections of multiple files, or entire folders into the Organizer.  Does importing them that way work?

  • PSE 8 Organizer: Bug in "Get Photos and Videos from Files and Folders"

In PSE8 Organizer, I have a weird bug that occurs when I am using Get Photos and Videos from Files and Folders on certain folders on my hard drive. If the "Files of Type" filter is left as the default ("Media files (photos, audio, video)"), whenever I click on a file in the file browser, three or four files or folders seem to disappear from the folder. I can keep clicking on different items until every file and folder has apparently vanished from the folder. Looking in Windows Explorer, the files and folders are still there, and if I switch the "Files of Type" filter to "All Files", everything reappears and the behavior no longer occurs.
I'm not sure why only certain folders show this behavior. It may have something to do with the types of files or folders in the folder I'm looking at, but I'm not sure.
Has anyone else seen this happen?

Are you on Win 7? If the files in the Get Photos dialog disappear after you select them, confirm if the names of selected files/folders is shown under the File name . If yes, you can import these files by clicking Open. You should find the issue addressed in E9.
    Thanks

  • Can't Get Photos in Organizer 7

    I'm running PSE7 on Windows XP SP3.
I created a movie with my camera.
I downloaded the .avi file to my pc.
Then I brought the .avi file into Windows Movie Maker.
I captured four still images from the .avi file and created .jpg's from them.
So I ended up with four jpg's.
I then tried to do a 'Get Photos' in Organizer by navigating to the folder with the images.
When I tried to import them I got an error indicating that the files were either already
in the catalog or they were not the correct type.
I checked the catalog by filename (using Find) and the files were not there.
Then I opened the file in PSE Editor. They opened fine.
I then Saved them using the option to include in Organizer.
The images now show up in Organizer just fine.
Any ideas whey my jpg's were rejected by Organizer initially?

Here's what I think the problem is.
WMM adds a couple of pieces of EXIF data to the image.
One is 'Date Modified' and the other is 'Firmware Version'.
If I modify the 'Date Modified' information with an EXIF editor I can then
successfully Import the jpg into Organizer.
The WMM tag looks like 'Sun Jul 12 09:46:20 2009'.
The EXIF editor (Exifer) changes that tag to look like:
    'Sunday, July 12, 2009'
    '09:46:20 AM'.
My guess would be that PSE7 Organizer doesn't like the way that tag
    is constructed by WMM.
I did try Premier Elements for capturing my jpg's. That seems to
work fine. The jpg's get placed back into Organizer.
I'll have to practice a bit more with PE to see if I can get
comfortable with using it. PE seems to have a lot more
    functions.

  • I installed PSE13 yesterday and can't get photo editor to open.

I installed PSE 13 yesterday and can't get photo editor to open.

Which operating system are you running on?
If a windows system, use Windows Explorer to find the following file.
    "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 13\PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe"
Try double clicking on it to run the editor directly rather than using the Welcome screen.

  • PSE how to have photo automatically resize the a 12 X 12 background document

I was told that when you drag a photo onto a 12x12 document it will automatically resize to the 12 x 12. When I do it in PSE the photo is small...and asking me to transform it. Is this different within these two programs or is there a work around in PSE. I had a friend try it in her photoshop program and the image wasn't distorted at all...Didn't appear huge, like if I transform it.

Both are set at 300....it's a very small picture... 4x3 my online friend uses CS5 and said it automatically changed it to the 12x12 blank document when she dragged it on...I did that but it gets very large and blurry...I studied about smart objects and used place to open photo and then tried to resize it....she clipped a mask watercolor underneath to give it emphasis... she then tilted the whole picture.she's out of town for the moment...I was trying to figure out what she did...for the life of me I can't get mine to resize to the 12 x 12....it expands larger than hers when I try.

When an image is added to a document, the incoming image is scaled to the resolution of the target document.  Make sure the resolution is the same for both, or simply use the Move tool on the pasted image to resize it to suit.  The incoming photo is never resized automatically to the target document's dimension. I have tried to 'get photo' as a single file which already were in my catalog. Now I get no error, which means that I get the normally information 'The file already exists in the catalog'.

    Hej Jim.
I have now installed PSE 5 and when I start the program it tries to convent 'my catalog.psa'. But after about 40% I stop with this error:
    ERROR MESSAGE:
    "Problem Converting Catalog: My Catalog.psa
There was a problem converting the catalog named.................
The ODBC data source reported the following error:
"[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access-driver] The wanted changes in the table were not made, because it will make duplicate values in the index, the primary key or the relation."
It looks like I have a problem with duplicate data in the catalog.
Do anyone know how to remove duplicate data in the catalog ?? Or how I can find out which data I duplicate so that I can fix it in the PSA SE ??

  • How do i get photos from iphoto library over to photoshop elements for editing?

how do i get photos from iphoto library over to photoshop elements 10 for editing?
this is an iMac that I just got so its all new to me...
    thank you

If you set PSE as external editor, be sure you pick the right file, which is not by any means the logical choice. You want this one:
You can also export the photos from iphoto, edit them and save them under new names and reimport the edited photos as new files. This is more trouble, but lets you save as many different versions of your image as you like (iphoto only remembers the last edited version + original).

  • PhotoShop Organizer Freezes when "Getting Photos" finishes

The Organizer opens and another window opens titled “Files Ready for Import”.
With or without the box checked the only thing to do is click OK.
That starts a window titled “Getting Photos”. If there are Photos to load the progress bar fills and apparently the photos are added to the organizer but the window locks up and even the stop button does nothing. The Task Manger must be used to kill the Organizer process. This tries to run even when no new photos are available. I can not get into the Organizer to disable the "Watch Folders".
I have tried to uninstall and re-install the Photoshop Application but it made no difference.
Please see the attachment for further details and the Adobe response... or lack thereof.
Does anyone know a way to Disable the Watch function?
I would rather add the required folders/photos to the catalog manually when needed than fight this.

The screen shot from your original post was missing -- I should have asked about that before assuming the problem was really watched folders.  I bet the window you're seeing looks like this:
This comes not from the Watch Folders feature but from the Adobe Photo Downloader, which downloads photos from cameras and scanners.
Apparently what's happened is that PSE terminated after the APD downloaded some photos but before they got imported into the catalog.  Now every time you start PSE, it first tries to import those photos, which is crashing PSE for some reason before the photos get fully imported.
To break this cycle, delete the contents of the following folder:
    Vista: C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\5.0\APDLogs
    XP: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\5.0\APDLogs
(I'm not positive about the XP folder -- I'm translating from the location on my Vista machine.)  I bet there's a .xml file in that folder that contains the list of files that PSE is trying to import.

  • Elements 10 - Get Photos Back in Files

I changed the name of some of my files and moved some pictures in another program (Picasa).  Now the Photoshop files are empty.  When I try to get them again I get the following message - "Nothing was imported.  The files or folders selected to import ...or the files are already in this catalog.  How do I get my pictures back in the files in Photoshop?

Once you import photos into Photoshop Elements, you can't manage them in another application.
To get the photos back, you could, one-by-one, use File->Reconnect and point PSE to the proper photo; alternatively you could "un-rename" the photos in Windows. Or you could delete them from PSE (losing whatever tags and captions and notes and albums and stacks and related information is in PSE); and then try importing the renamed photos.

  • Get photos can only bring in one photo

I would like to import all the photos in a folder but the 'checked Get Photos from Subfolders' is gray instead of black so it doesn't retrieve all the photos.  It will let me get one at a time though.

I've had a similar problem in PSE 8 Organizer under Windows 7. My simple solution is to navigate to the files using WIndows Explorer, select the files you want there and then drag them to Organizer.

  • Failure of 'get photos' function in PSE7

The 'get photos from files and folders' funtion in my PSE7 has failed. For several months the main folder display has been jittery and unstable, requiring repeated attempts to highlight and designate the correct subfolder. Now, the 'get photos...' option has ceased to display or list any photo files or subfolders in my main Pictures folder. Other PSE funtions of organizer and editor seem normal. And, all photos remain present in their subfolders in the main photos folder, as always.

    Close Elements.
Click the Start Button and then your user name (in place of mine) and navigate to:
    C: Users >> 99Jon >> AppData >> Roaming >> Adobe >> Elements Organizer >>10.0 >> Organizer
Delete the PSA file (with key symbol) and delete Status.dat
After deleting these two files re-start the program
AppData may be a hidden system file. See the link to reveal hidden files.

  • Get Photo From Scanner

I keep getting a pop-up to "Get Photo From Scanner".  I do not want to scan a picture.  I hit cancel and it just comes right back.  I can't do anything in photoshop because the message keeps popping up and taking over the screen.  It also occasionally takes over from other programs.  I am getting very frustrated!  Is there a way to truly cancel the import or turn off this feature?
    Thanks!

It also occasionally takes over from other programs.
This sounds like it isn't PSE that is causing this. Did you actually start a scan at some point? Have you checked your scanner software to see if there's a scan waiting for you?
