PSE 9.0 Mac Camera Raw

For whatever reason the new camera raw update fails to update.  I'm not sure of the reason.  Is it possible to grab the plug-in and find the appropriate place/directory to move it to.
If so, can someone tell me where on my Mac to place it?  I've used the standard installation for PSE 9.0.  Also where can I grab the plug in from?

Okay, get it here:
http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=40&platform=Macintosh
Under PSE 8, but the installation path is different now. It needs to go into your hard drive>library>application support>adobe>Plug-ins>Elements 9>File Formats, and be sure to move the existing plug-in out first.
Note that this is the library at the top level of your hard drive, not system>library or your username>library.

Would like to purchase PSE 12 to process Camera Raw files for the following cameras: Nikon D800, Nikon DF, Canon G9 and Pentax K-3 does the Raw Converter that comes with  PSE 12 when purchased recognize  the cameras listed in the question or do I need to download  the camera Raw Version 8.3 ?

While the G9 RAW files can be read by Adobe Camera RAW and Lightroom, these file are unsupported at this time. Here is a link to Adobe's latest list of cameras that are supported and this list came out yesterday http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/cameraraw.html
I have not done a comparison between Lightroom and Canon's software but others have and say that Canon's software is clearly better. I am sure when Adobe updates their software again to include the G9 it will be a very good RAW converter as it is will most other cameras.

  • PSE - Mac Camera Raw 6 installed- but 5.5 comes up

I have a Mac and PSE 8.  I installed camera raw 6 in the proper place - but when I open a NEF file the camera raw version showing is 5.5.
Has anyone gotten ACR 6 to work on a Mac with PSE 8?

You are talking about PSE and not bridge, right?
How did you install it? It sounds like you failed to remove the old plugin first. You must use the PSE version of the plug-in (not the auto-installing PS version) and despite the instructions, you have to move the old version out of the folder before putting the new one in.
Yes, 6.1 does work, so that's not the problem.

  • PSE 6.0 and Camera Raw

I can't get Camera Raw to install.  I'm running on a MAC OS X 10.5.8.  I tried to install the ACR 5.1, saved it to library/application support/adobe/plugins/CS3/file format.  I click on it and I go to PSE and I get the message "could not complete this request because Photoshop does not recogonize this file type."  Why is my ACR not downloading corretly?????
    Desperate for you help

Depending on your camera, you may actually need to download and install the most RECENT version of Camera Raw which is version 5.6 (which should work with your version of Elements). Check the Camera Raw Product Page for more info.

  • PSE 9 Organizer and Camera Raw

I've just updated to PSE 9 from PSE8. What I liked with PSE 8 was selecting a Canon CR2 raw file in Browser CS4, the camera raw window would open where a number of key items could be modified before selecting Open and full editing in PSE 8.
Is there a way to select a raw file in PSE9 Organiser and have the Camera raw window open?
I went under Help/Updates and Camera Raw 6.3 was 'installed', but is there is no option (that I can see) to use Camera Raw prior to PSE9.
    Can anyone assist?
    With thanks - dfielder7

    Many thanks for the assistance.
I'm starting to believe CS4 browser is much better than Organiser - at least for the Mac. There are several key components that appear to be lacking in Organiser, but many that's because it was designed for a different purpose.

  • Mac camera raw 6.5

i am confused.  i have elements 10 and would like to load camera raw (mac). i tried loading but only something with patch files and flash player, help loaded.  what do i need to do/  thank you so much.  jw

Probably the easiest thing to do is install the 6.7 dng converter.
(that installs the profiles needed by the camera raw 6.7 plugin)
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5374
Then replace the existing camera raw plugin with the 6.7 camera raw from out of the zipped file below
    https://workspaces.acrobat.com/?d=3UNFxO-n28Ad4F4awPwD4w
    steps
    1. Install the 6.7 dng converter
    2. download and unzip the
      Camera Raw 6_7 plugin.zip
        (double click on it)
    3. Go to Computer>/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Plug-Ins/Elements 10/File Formats
    4. Drag the existing Camera Raw.plugin to the trash
    5. Drag the Camera Raw.plugin from the zipped download into that folder
Hopefully, then you'll be able to go to File>Open and choose one of your sony camera raw files and they will open in the camera raw dialog in pse 10

  • PSE 9 cannot export camera raw edited files to a jpeg format.  Only available save as formats are photoshop and tiff.

In PSE 9  I am currently unable to save files that have been edited in camera raw as jpeg files.  When I try to export the file using 'save as'  the only listed options are versions of photoshop file formats and tiff - jpeg is not listed.  I did not have this problem previously when using Nikon D3000 camera. I now use a Nikon D7100. I have installed the 6.5 Camera Raw update but this has not solved the problem.  I would appreciate any suggestions for resolving this.
    Margaret

You have a 16-bit image and jpeg is an 8 bit format. You can set the raw converter to export as 8 bit by using the pulldown menu below the preview area, or you can just go to Image>Mode>8 bits/channel in the editor.

  • PSE 6 for Mac and Raw 5.4

In the download section of Adobe.com, it said RAW 5.4 was usable in PSE 6, so I downloaded the update.  Is there any good reason I can't open it.  It tells me to "Quit"... which is not a nice thing to say (maybe I need thicker skin!).  Any advice?   Bill

Thanks for your reply.  The file I downloaded is AdobeCameraRaw-5.4-mul-AdobeUpdate.  Inside are 3 items (extensions, resources, setup.app)--- no "camera raw.plugin".  I did as you indicated, inserting the entire contents mentioned above (for I didn't see a .pligin file) into CS3 even though the literature I read on Adobe.com says it won't work with CS3, buy 4!  I also inserted the download into PSE 6, which the literature indicated will work there (into PSE's plugin folder).  Not work htere either.  I'd like to be able to do editing on my new camera's images.  Thanks for any help you can give.  Bill
PS  In Lr, I downloaded another plugin and it said it just had to be the computer/desktop somewhere... no special place for the pluin into using Flickr.  It works fine in a folder I have on my desktop.  Am I missing something?

  • PSE 12 with updated Camera Raw will not recognize NEF from Nikon d610

It used to view all my NEF files from the D610, but not seems its broke

Because your old version of Lightroom has no idea what a D610, or what to do with its files - the latest version of Lightroom is version 5.4, and D610 support came with Lr 5.3.
So you can either upgrade to 5.4, or convert your D610 files to DNG (which Lr 4 can read) using the Adobe DNG Converter: but Lr 4 will never, ever, natively support the D610.

  • Does Camera Raw 5.6 Update work for PSE 6?

    I have a PSE6, and have bought a Canon Powershot G11.
Camera Raw update 5.6 includes the Canon G11, but the update documentation seems to suggest it can't be applied to PSE 6 on Windows:
    Camera Raw 5.6 update page:
"The Camera Raw 5.6 plug-in is not compatible with versions of Photoshop earlier than Photoshop CS4, versions of Photoshop Elements earlier than Photoshop Elements 6.0."
    But the ReadMe file says:
"The Camera Raw 5.6 plug-in is not compatible with versions of Photoshop earlier than Photoshop CS4or versions of Photoshop Elements earlier than Photoshop Elements 7.0 for Windows and Photoshop Elements 6 for Mac."
Am I right in thinking that my one-year-old copy of PSE6 (Windows version) is no longer functional with a new camera?  Or am I mistaken?
    Advice appreciated -

Some of the Adobe download links are wrong and often take you to an earlier version of Adobe Camera Raw. The latest version is ACR 5.6 which brings support for the newest camera models such as the
    Canon EOS 7D, PowerShot S90 & G11, Nikon D3S and others.
So don’t worry it will work. First you will need to exit Photoshop Elements.
To get the plug-in for PSE6 go to the link below - instructions are for Windows users. They will differ for Mac users.
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/thankyou.jsp?ftpID=4626&fileID=4303
Download the plug-in for Elements 8
Open the zip folder you just downloaded and click Extract Files.
You should see a 64 bit folder and a plug-in file below it. The plug in has a file name: Camera Raw.8bi
Now drag the plug-in file (or copy it) into the File Formats folder in the following location:
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 6.0\Plug-Ins\File Formats.  See Gotcha
If running windows Vista you will probably get a pop-up requesting Administrator permission. Assuming you are the Administrator for your computer, simply agree.
I can confirm it does work as I have recently updated my plug-in for PSE6 using the above method. To test it, go to one of your photo folders, right click on a raw file (NEF, CR2, DNG etc) and select open with Photoshop Elements. The image should automatically open in ACR 5.6 giving you access to the latest slider adjustments, including white balance and exposure.
Note: If you have an earlier Camera Raw plug-in, I suggest you move it from the File Formats folder to My Documents before you begin. This will prevent it being overwritten by the new Camera Raw file (it will have the same name) and you can always move it back again if the download installation fails.
If you are using a 64-bit edition of Windows, then move the plug-in file from the unzipped download folder by navigating to:C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 6.0\Plug-Ins\File Formats.

  • Can PSE 12 open and process Camera Raw pictures taken with Canon GIX Mk. 2 camera?

I have bought a new Canon GI X Mk. 2 camera. I consider to update my Photoshop Elements 9 to new the newest 12 version, but I will only do that if the PSE 12 can manage Camera Raw pictures taken with my new camera. Can anyone help?

Yes, but you will have to install the Camera Raw 8.5 or later update. Go to Help > Updates to start the update process. You can verify what version of Camera Raw you have installed by going to Help (Win) or Photoshop Elements (Mac) > About Plug-in > Camera Raw.

  • Camera Raw showing up double in PSE 8

    Hi
After upgrading to PSE 8, the plugin Camera Raw shows up twice in About Plugins (both show Version 5.5.0.97). In the Open as filetype list, I also see two Camera Raw entries, of which one works just fine, the other one leads to error message "This process could not be executed, because a program error occured" (my translation from German to English).
I noticed that by removing the file Camera Raw.8bi from C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 8.0\Plug-Ins\File Formats removes one of the entries. So PSE 8 seems to get ACR 5.5 from somewhere else than from Camera Raw.8bi also.
This problem does not seem to be related to my installation, please also see this thread in the PSE forum.
The installation guide clearly states that one has to copy Camera Raw.8bi to the PSE plugin directory, although it only mentions PSE 6.0 und PSE 7.0.
Can anybody give me a hint on where PSE 8 gets its ACR from, and what I would have to do to upgrade it to a new version if I don't keep Camera Raw.8bi in the plugin directory?
    Beat Gossweiler
    Switzerland

    This issue has been resolved.
As per John R. Ellis' post here, Adobe has moved the location of the file Camera Raw.8bi from
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 8.0\Plug-Ins\File Formats\
    to
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\Elements 8\File Formats\
    with PSE 8.
So deleting the file C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 8.0\Plug-Ins\File Formats\Camera Raw.8bi resolves the problem.
Adobe, please make a note of this in the ACR installation guide.

  • Cannot launch Camera Raw in PSE 8

I have PSE 8 with the Camera Raw 6.2 plug-in. The program works perfect exept that I cannot launch the Camera Raw converter. When I open a RAW-file in the editor or via the organizer, then the file just opens in the Editor mode. No raw converter... I can make a full photo-edit in the Editor. But why can't I open the Raw-converter?

I am on vacation. I will get back to you when I am back.
    All the best,
    Lars

  • Camera raw in pse 9

After re-installing pse 9 and the camera raw plug in, I have been unable to open raw files to make adjustments.  When I open a raw file in my editor it says "reading camera raw" but then never opens with the option to make the usual adjustments.  Can anyone help me figure this out?  Thanks!

    Hi,
You should be able to open a 40D Raw file with that version of ACR.
Does the image not open at all? If you are using a netbook or similar with a small screen, a RAW file will sometimes open with a default conversion so that you can't use the normal ACR tools.
What operating system are you using?
What is your screen resolution in pixels?
