Pse 9.0 Trial Help

So far, I've downloading Pse 9.9 two times, but it will not work properly. I open up the organizer, select a photo to edit, click on the option 'Edit Photos', and the Editor opens. After a few quick moments, and error message pops up, saying 'PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close', and precedes to do so. This happened in a straight 30 times. When this occurred, I uninstalled it and reinstalled it, but it still does this. I'm sorry, but if more detail is needed, I'll need to be asked specifically what I'm not saying properly or at all. Does anybody know the problem? Any help would be appreciated.

  • Reinstallation of PSE 11.0 trial

Hello.  I tried installing PSE 11.0 trial on my laptop ( I already have 9.0).  The operating system is Windows 7.0 premium home edition.  During the install I got a roll back - I'm guessing that it occured because I didn't have an internet connection on my laptop ( I used the folder from the installation on my main computer).  I attempted to stop the rollback and ultimately crashed my laptop.  When I went to reinstall again - the installer tried to finish the uninstall but created an error when encountering an empty file and stoped everything.  I deleted all the folders and files I could find for 11.0 as well as any registry entries.  I am still getting an uninstall attempt when using the set-up file.  I would guess it is a registry entry that did not contain 'elements 11.0' that I did not delete.  Does anyone know how to get a complete uninstall manually so that I can finally install 11.0 to evaluate.  I appreciate any help I can get with this.  Thanks

You may possibly have an outstanding Windows update which is ready to be applied.  I would recommend you check Windows update to make sure you have no updates pending and then try restarting the computer.  If you continue to face difficulties please see Install rollback | Windows - http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements/kb/install-rollback-photoshop-elements-windows.h tml.

  • PSE 12: Mac need help opening RAW files

I downloaded the trial version of PSE 12 on a Mac OS X v 10.8.5 and I am unable to open the CR2 RAW files taken by a Canon EOS Rebel XS and loaded directly to the Mac.
The exact error message is, "Could not complete your request because the file appears to be from a camera model which is not supported by the installed version of Camera Raw. Please visit the Camera Raw help documentation for additional information."
The Camera Raw plug in version on this PSE 12 is 8.2.0.94
In an effort to open these CR2 files, I downloaded the DNG Converter 8_2. This provided a similar error, "The source folder does not contain any supported camera raw files."
I believe that my camera is supported by PSE12 :
I plugged an external hard drive into the Mac which contains CR2 files from the exact same camera. The files were unloaded using a Windows PC and then saved on the hard drive. They open on the Mac using PSE12. No problem.
So, I am guessing that the problem is that I am a new Mac user. I have no idea where I should look on the Mac to figure out why the CR2 files directly loaded to the Mac won't open in PSE12 but files loaded to a WIndows computer and then opened on the Mac will open in PSE12.
    Any suggestions?

Barbara B--thank you so much for trying to help me.
I finally have success! I discovered that I must use the Canon EOS Utility to download the files to the Mac. Not iphoto and not the Image Capture.
For anyone else who might need a link to the Canon Rebel XS EOS Utility, I found it here:

  • Problems with PSE for Mac Trial - Downloaded it and cannot find it

I am fairly computer savvy, but new to Mac.  I had PSCS2 on my old PC and with the conversion to Mac I was going to go for PSE8 (since a lot of the things I use PS for weren't available in PSE when I bought CS2, but are now available with PSE8).  I downloaded the free trial (bc I wanted to compare it to CS), but cannot figure out how to launch it.
I know.  I"m an idiot.  Can anyone help?

Sorry, but I'm confused by the discrepancy between your thread title and the body of your post. Do you mean you don't know where the download went? It should have gone into your downloads folder, which is usually able to be accessed as a stack in the dock if you haven't removed it from there. If you have, open a finder window and click on your username>downloads.

  • Install problems with PSE 8 free trial

I downloaded the free trial of PSE 8 from the Adobe site to my new computer running with VISTA.  I then was told I needed to unzip so I successfully downloaded a Winzip program which, as I guess is supposed to free up these large files.  I can't figure out what to do next.  When I go into the Winzip program, I see a bunch of unzipped files that, taken together, add up to about a 1.1 GB large download which is what PSE 8 is.  How do I proceed to install so I can finally get to the program?  Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi Ankush
    1. Download successful
    2. Launch EXE - no UAC, no AV, run as administrator
    3. As extraction reaches 100% a failure error displays (step 2 image below)
    4. Never actually get to start PSE installation. If the setup.exe file is run another error shows. Interestingly, setup.ini is empty 0 bytes.
My take is that the file for download is corrupt the .7z, possibly by the download manager or maybe in extraction.
What is very weird is that this has happened on both an old Vista install and now a fresh W7 (64bit) Pro install.
Could it be machine related? Maybe, but it would have to be a hardware conflict of some sort ...

  • PSE-8 No Trial Expiration of Organizer Only....

I have seen it mentined in the PSA (Photoshop Album) forum, that since PSA is going to be discontinued the Organizer portion of PSE-8 will NOT expire after the trial period ends. So.....
Is this only open to current users of PSA, or can even current owners of other versions of PSE take "advantage" of this offer?
How much advertising "abuse" er, rather, continued advertising, (nag messaging) will be connected with the installation?
Would it actually be worthwhile to "subject" your computer to PSE-8 in the first place?

Is this only open to current users of PSA, or can even current owners of other versions of PSE take "advantage" of this offer?
A couple of Adobe employees have posted here that the Organizer in the PSE 8 30-day trial does not expire and that thus the Organizer is "free". They didn't mention anything about this be limited to upgrades from previous versions, and PSE has never had such checks in its registration or activiation.  So I'd bet that anyone who gets the trial will be able to use the Organizer indefinitely.   I'd like to see someone post authoritatively on this issue -- I certainly wouldn't completely trust the Adobe employees' comments, based on the quality of their contributions here (except for Bob Gage, the product manager).
I'm seriously wondering if PSE 8 will be the last version of the Organizer.  Adobe has been radically reducing its investment in the Organizer the last several years, moving development offshore to save costs, not fixing most bugs, adding just a few cosmetic features for marketing purposes, etc.  (Note that there are world-class engineers offshore, including India, but when a company like Adobe moves development offshore to save costs, they're almost by definition getting low-quality engineering.) And in PSE 8, Adobe has done some curious things with the Organizer: Renaming it to "Elements Organizer", separating the installation folders, separating the user guides, renaming the commands that invoke the editor.  Well-placed rumors from inside Adobe continue to suggest that the company is moving away from consumer products back to its core, products for professionals.  Is this unbundling of the Organizer in preparation of trying to sell it or terminate it?
How much advertising "abuse" er, rather, continued advertising, (nag messaging) will be connected with the installation?
The PSE Welcome screen presents annoying marketing for Adobe products but not advertising for other companies or products.  It's easy to avoid the Welcome screen by making shortcuts direclty to the Organizer, and the Welcome screen doesn't provide any functionality that isn't easily accessible elsewhere.
Would it actually be worthwhile to "subject" your computer to PSE-8 in the first place?
If you have an early version of PSA or PSE, I definitely recommend upgrading to a later version, PSE 6 or later. Two reasons:
    - If you anticipate staying with the PSE Organizer, then each newer version of PSE makes it harder to upgrade from PSA. As it is now, many users of PSA find they first have to convert their catalog to PSE 5 (using a free 30-day trial that is time-limited) and then to PSE 8.  Adobe has made no effort to help such users convert.   Each year that goes by makes it less likely you'll be able to upgrade.
    - If you anticipate moving out of the PSA/PSE Organizer world, then you'll need to have all the metadata from the catalog (tags, albums, captions, notes, dates, star rating, etc.) written into the photos so that other programs can read it.   All versions of PSA/PSE have significant bugs, which strike some users more than others depending on your cameras, scanners, and workflow.  With PSE 6 and later, you can use my utility psedbtool to get all that metadata correctly written to the photos (and optionally into text files), making it much more likely you won't lose data.   Unfortunately, psedbtool doesn't work with earlier versions.

  • PSE newbie frustrated, please help with image resizing

    Hi!
Tutorials aren't helping me, nor is trial and error. I just want to resize some photos I downloaded to my computer, then upload them to a website to use as my avatar or signature. There are specific pixel dimensions I must adhere to. I want to keep the photo in it's entirety, but when I resize it, it distorts a bit, looks fuzzy...
I can't figure out what the heck I am doing wrong. Some pictures turn out just fine and others look really bad. I know it can be done because I've seen the same pictures I'm trying to size, being used for the same thing I want to use them for, but theirs are clear, absolutely no distortion whatsoever. The pixel dimensions I have to work with are either 100x100, or 450 pixels wide by 90 pixels high.
I hope this made sense, I'm not sure how else to word it. Please forgive my ignorance, I've really been trying.
    Thank-you
    B

For an avatar it’s possibly best to crop to begin with so you get a true square.
Open the image and select the crop tool and change the aspect ratio to 1 x 1 or 5 x 5 then drag out a square and move the image around inside it or drag the bounding box borders until you have it looking as you want. Then click the green check mark.
On the top menu click Image > Resize > Image Size and in either the height or width box type 100 px (you only need to type the dimension once the other box will change to 100 automatically. Make sure you have the bottom three boxes checked:
    Scale Styles
    Constrain Proportions
    Resample Image
With all three checked set the bottom dropdown to Bicubic and then hit OK.
If you want to apply some sharpening select Enhance on the top menu and choose Unsharp Mask.
Make sure the Radius is no more than 1.5 and use the amount slider to get the image looking as you want it then save.

  • PSE-5 Photo Degradation HELP

I am using PSE-5 on window XP media edition. I was opening 5, when all of a sudden it started adding photos that were already in my organizor. Of course, I hit the cancel button, and it closed. I then clicked on a recently added JPG and it was degraded showing as red and black as if I had sharpened it to the max. I then opened PSD photo files that I had viewed previously and they were now degraded.
I decided after much frustration to opened these PSD and jpeg files in another program and they were ok. I then uninstalled 5, and waited untll the next day to reinstall. No success. I again uninstalled and removed it from the registry. When I reinstalled, degradation remained. I am at a loss and desperate need help.
(I am a recuperating quadriplegic. I've spent the previous 2 1/2 years in the hospital. I am using speaking software to type this message. So please excuse any and all errors. Because of the extremely high medical bills, I was hoping to delay having to upgrade when I cannot use the software to the max. But if it cannot be repaired, then I might not have any other choice.)
I have another program, but I have spent an extremely amount of money on styles, actions, etc. and we hope to be able to use them. OK ,Shirl, off your soapbox. LOL

I have enclosed a photo of my daughter-in-aw and granddaughter. In PSE-5 editor the baby;s legs are completely red, her hand, and wherever there is change in skin pigmentation. Her mother's  hair and sunvisor, chest area, inside arm area, and where the skin tone changes. This was in the PSD and JEPG  files. When I started to save the web in 5, the screenshots were much clearer. it is only  in the editor that the degradation happens, and it is awful. I am hesitent about opening any other files in the edit, but that is the where I can only use my extras.
You have been extremely patient with me, and it is truly appreciated.
    HUGS!!

  • How to open Nikon D5300 Raw files in PSE 11? [was:Help Please]

With My old Nikon D90 Elements 8 would open raw files OK I now have a new Nikon D5300 and when trying to open a raw file it tells me that it is the wrong type of file Help Please
    Andy

There isn't a generic nikon raw. Each camera has its own raw format and the camera raw plugin has to be updated every time a new camera comes out. The D5300 requires ACR 8.3, which is only compatible with PSE 12. So you have three options:
    1. Upgrade to PSE 12.
    2. Use the nikon software to convert the files and send the converted images to PSE for any further editing.
    3. Download the free Adobe DNG converter and use that to create dng files that your version of camera raw can understand.

  • PSE 11 (OS X): Help! Catalog has just decided my photos are on a different disk

I've been running PSE on my Mac for several years without problems. I just downloaded about 3,000 new photos from my camera, apparently without problems, but when I clicked on one of the thumbnails, PSE couldn't find the photo. On further investigation, I realized that while the photos had downloaded to the usual place, ~/photos/download, the catalog was now looking for them in the same directory but on my BACKUP disk (I have a second hard drive that I use to keep a copy of my main disk). I have no idea how this has changed or why, as I've never manually moved anything to the new disk, and have no idea how I'd tell PSE to look on a different disk anyway, but it seems to have decided to keep the same directory structure but now to look for everything on a different disk. How can I correct this? I can get PSE to find my newly uploaded photos if I copy them to the backup disk, but this is not what I want - it's supposed to be a backup disk!
Thanks for any suggestions, both about what might have gone wrong and (especially) about how to correct it.
    Best,
    Richard Stanton

    Hi,
Can you please check Edit > Preferences > Camera/Card reader pref > "Save Files In" preference?
Also, for the current situation, you may reconnect the files using File > Reconnect > All Missing Files. You would need to manually locate path ~/photos/download and click Reconnect.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks
    Andaleeb

  • PSE 8 - upgrading trial to licensed

    1.  Is there somewhere I can key in the license without waiting for it to ask me?
    I couldn't find it.
    2. Now when I right click + Edit with Elements it says I could enter a license, but this is some type of fricken' lie.
First, I bought Elements 8, so now I have a license because it sent me an e-mail.
But the window asking for S/N doesn't stay up. I try to Alt Tab over to another window and curiously the S/N window goes away.
I try editing again after I get the e-mail and writing the number on paper and then try to enter it in.  It doesn't like it.
So I download Photoshop Elements 8 LS8 exe file and it companion 7z file (and the rebate coupon while I'm at it).
Does entering the s/n work now? No such luck.
So what gives?  Do I have to wait for some magical DB update?  If so, there ought to be a warning or two about possible delays.
Do I have to install the "better" download (my original is PhotoshopElements_8_WWEFDJ.7z and was 485 KB larger).
It would seem if I am presented with a dialogue for entering a S/N it ought to take an S/N unless it warns me otherwise.
How do I get from Trial to Licensed given that entering the S/N doesn't work?
    -Paul

    Hi Paul,
Unlike PSE7, now the serialization screen comes only on launching PSE Editor. So whenever you will try to EDIT any photo a serialization screen will come giving you 2 options: 1. Continue running in trial for the remaining period out of 30 days. 2) Enter the serial number in the boxes.
I believe you are trying to enter serial number in these boxes and something is going wrong. Could you please explain it again on what exactly is happening? Are you not able to type in the serial number in these boxes OR the serial number even after entering correctly is showing a Red Cross OR that after entering the serial number no information as such is displayed saying your copy has now been converted in licensed version?
Sorry for sounding confused but i didnt get the clear picture from below post.

  • Problem installing PSE 8 free trial - Power Archiver error

    Hi,
I've been trying to download the 30 day free trial of Photoshop Elements 8.
The Akamai Download was successful, both the .exe and the .7z file completed 100% and have been saved to the same folder.
When I try to launch the .exe file I get the following error message:
"An error occurred while opening Power Archiver 7-zip SFX."
I would be very grateful if anyone could tell me what I need to do to complete the installation process.
Thanks in advance for your help,
    N

    Hi,
It seems to me as the problem with the Adobe web download...there have been cases where other users have reported problem with running the downloaded files, but there issue got resolved in a day or two. I believe you must have already reported the issue on the tech support or customer support. If not, please do that. Otherwise< i would just request you to try again after a day or so and it should get working as sometimes web team themselves figure out the issue and they fix it before anyone reporting them to the support team.
So sorry that you have been running into these issue, preventing you from using the product.

  • Dreamweaver 8 Trial Help problems

Howdy - I just recently downloaded the trial version of
dreamweaver 8 (windows XP, new Dell XPS system with plenty of
processing power/RAM/etc.) and it appears to be working just fine,
except when trying to access certain items on the help menu
(dreamweaver help, getting started with dreamweaver) this causes
dreamweaver to close (with this message "Dreamweaver 8 has
encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the
inconvenience."). I have finished the "getting started tutorials"
through the adobe web site and wanted to move on to the materials
within the help documents, but for some reason help will not work.
I have also updated the trial to 8.0.2, and while this fixed the
problem for a minute (I was able to access the help files one time)
I am now back in the same boat, with no access to help.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks a lot - Jon
EDIT: Now I've found the online helpdocs and PDF versions of
these, so at least I have access. In addition, I reinstalled DW8
and this has fixed the problem, at least for now. Just curious if
anyone has had any similar problems (although I searched the forums
and didn't see any) with installed help. thanks again
