PSE cannot open a PSD file? Please help!

I can't open a drawing I was doing on PSE8... Everything was fine, and then BAM! Here is what happened:
I was working on my laptop while doing some art on Photoshop Elements 8.
I did not have my laptop plugged in, and the power died... luckly I had saved right before the power went off.
I booted up my computer and when I tried to open my file... it says:
"Could not complete your request because of a program error."
What can I do about this? I tried to open the file up on my school computer, one of a teachers computer, and even some computer repair guy tried to open it and look at it, and we could not open it or figure out the problem.
I put the file on my jumpdrive while doing this.
To add to the problem, I thought it would be okay if I backed up my computer a day or two to recover the drawing... or at least the lineart.
To make a long story short, I lost my entire hard-drive and I had to reboot my computer to factory settings.
I lost so many things, I'm not going to list it or I'll cry.
But that drawing... if I can fix it, it will be worth everything. (I was so proud of how it was coming along!!)
Does anyone have ANY ideas on how I can fix this up? Can I send it to Adobe?

That program did not work, it just said:
Unknown file format? Can't read file?
The extension is PSD! The program knows it's PSD, as in the screenshot above. So...wtf?
Any ideas?

The way I resolved this issue was to create a dual boot Mac, so that I am able to boot from either Mountain Lion or Mavericks. Running Vectorworks in a virtual machine just didn’t cut it.
I had already upgraded to Mavericks, which meant that trying to install OS 10.8.5 as a second operating system produced the error message saying it cannot be installed on this computer.
First, if you need a copy of Mountain Lion installer and you has previously purchased it, open the App Store app, press the option key and then click on the purchases tab. You will see a list of all downloaded software from Apple and you can download OS 10.8.5 again without paying for it a second time. If you had previously created a boot disk of Mountain Lion, which I had not, you can obviously skip this step and the next.
You will need a boot disk for Mountain Lion. After downloading the Mountain Lion installer, the easiest way to create a boot disk is to use a slick little app called DiskMaker X, which you can get here: http://liondiskmaker.com Next you will need a USB flash drive of at least 8GB in size. Install and run DiskMaker X, plug in your flash drive, and follow the prompts. In just a few clicks, your boot drive will be easily created.
Next, you will need to add a partition on your startup drive on which you will install Mountain Lion. Here is the procedure for creating the new partition: http://macs.about.com/od/applications/ss/diskutilitysize.htm You can find this at Apple support, but this site gives you additional procedures that may be helpful. I set my new partition at 50 GB, but you can do with less is you don’t have the space.
With those two operations done, and your OS 10.8.5 boot drive plugged in, restart you Mac and press the option key after you hear the chime. You will be asked which drive you wish to start from- select the boot drive. After your Mac boots up, you will see several options- choose install Mountain Lion (actually I think the option is reinstall Mountain Lion).
After completing the OS install, install your copy of Vectorworks, copy and move whatever files you need to from Mavericks, and you are in business. To boot from either OS, simply press the option key and select OS 10.8.5 when you need to work in Vectorkorks, or OS 10.9 for all your other tasks. Switching back and forth isn’t as advantageous as otherwise, but it is the best way to run Vectorworks without upgrading for the $1,500 or so that would be required otherwise.

Captivate 5 won't open Captivate 4 files~Please HELP!

I upgraded from Captivate 4 to the eLearning Suite 2 with Captivate 5. So far, everything's been great, except for the problem I'm having now and how rude the Adobe Tech Support guy I talked with yesterday was.
I can't open my Captivate 4 files with Captivate 5. When I try to, it acts like it's working, then freezes on "Opening Project(s) - Upgrading Resources" (see below). Eventually, it times out and closes all together.
I've tried opening 2 different files and on 2 different machines, one is Windows 7 and the other is XP (both with Captivate 5). I even called Adobe Support, being that I just purchased a $2000 single-user eLearning Suite I thought they would be somewhat helpful, and was told very rudely that Tech Support cannot help me because my computer is connected to a network! Seriously? Needless to say, I'm very frustrated right now, especially under a deadline to update projects I can't even open. Please Help!! Are Captivate 4 files just not compatible with Captivate 5? It's a huge project and I'd hate to have to start over again.

I was never given a case number when I spoke with Tech Support.
I appreciate the offer to help, but this problem was three months ago, on July 28th (sometime around 4pm Mountain Time that I called Tech Support). I was unable to find a solution, and had to spend weeks recreating my projects. At this point I do not need additional support or solutions, although it would have been nice to have back in July. I just wanted to pass my feelings along and share my frustration. I love Adobe's products, but I feel like a sucker that I paid so much money only to increase my workload by that much. Then, it took 3 months of complaining on this forum to get any attention from Adobe. I do really appreciate the offer to help, but by now it is just way too late.
I understand that with new software there are always bugs, quirks, and other problems that need to be worked out. The issue I experienced with the software was only a small fraction of the overall problem. The worst part is that Tech Support was so unwilling to help. The guy I was transferred to refused to talk to me, saying that they don't support the product if it is used on a computer that is on a network. How is that even possible? How many people are going to purchase expensive e-Learning software and not be employed by a company that uses a computer network? He wouldn't make any effor to help, give me any suggestions, or check to see if it was a known bug. The only thing he would tell me is that they don't support it if it's installed on a computer that is ever connected to a network. An acceptable Tech Support group would empathize and do their best to help, even if they are unable to fix the problem right away.
Obviously this is not an isolated incident, as you can find thousands of customer complaints about Adobe Tech Support online. I have personally known dozens of coworkers and friends that have had similer experiences to mine when calling Adobe. I can only hope that someone at Adobe can pull their head out of the sand, recognize the problem with your support team, and do something to correct it.
Again, thank you for the offer to help. I hope I have expressed my opinions and feedback in a way that can help. All I can ask is that you do something to improve your support group, so that if I ever have a problem again that requires Technical Support from Adobe, I don't have to deal with the same ordeal again.

Cannot Open Any PSD Files Without Beachballing

Photoshop is going non-responsive any time I try to open a file. If I try to open a PSD in Ai it does the same thing. I'm currently at a standstill. I'm running Photoshop CS4 11.0 and running it on OS X Version 10.6.1, 2.8GHz Core 2 Duo, 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3 MacBook Pro.

The file "iTunes Library.itl" cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes. What??? I updated last week I guess and now I cannot open my iTunes. Please help.

Had same problem and solved it without having to reinstore any music or movies:
1. Delete old Library file
2. Go to the 'Previous iTunes Libraries' folder and copy one of the earlier files - note, they have a date extension, e.g. 'iTunes Library 2011-11-01'.
3. Paste this file in your iTuners folder and rename file by removing the date extension - 'iTunes Library'
You should have all your music and paylists in tact, unless it was a really old previous file.

when I save a .pdf document to SAP (Code: CV01N), as you can see in the picture below, and try to open it, I get the failor "Network address DEFAULT of your computer is not maintained".
I'm really new in SAP and don't know how I can change the network or somthing else to solve this problem.

"Installer failed to initialize" Cannot find log.gz file, please help!

I've downloaded CS6 but am getting the following message:

I've also tried looking through other discussions and found that I need to locate the log.gz files, however, I've followed these instructions but I wasn't able to find these files. What should I do now??
I have never downloaded a trial version so I know it's not because I need to uninstall that. I have been struggling a lot with getting this software (due to extremely slow internet connection and it taking over 24 hours and countless attempts to download just to begin with). Any help would be greatly appreciate as I would love to start using it!

The log.gz is a zipped file consisting of installation log information.
The location is :
• Windows 32 bit (XP, Vista, 7): \Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Installers\
• Windows 64 bit (XP, Vista, 7): \Program Files(x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Installers
The log filename includes the product name and install date, followed by ".log.gz." The extension .gz indicates a compressed format.

The screenshot above clearly indicates the error caused due to some missing files.
Moreover you have admitted for a slow internet connection and countless attempts to download the software.
I would recommend you to redownload the package to a flash drive by connecting to a different faster network speed and then retry the installtion by connecting the flash drive to your computer.

Also you might want to provide more details as to what kind of document you're trying to open (e.g. in what transaction). And, instead of posting the pictures, just specify the message text and/or message class and number (e.g. V1 100). The error messages are unreadable on your pictures.
And, better yet, ask your manager to get a qualified Basis admin.

Can't open my flash file- please help!!

Hi! I just taught myself Adobe Flash and created a very intricate file with lots of moving parts. I saved it and then went to improve it. Of course it was taking forever so I got up from the computer to let it do its thing and I accidently knocked out my external harddrive. A lil freaked out I exited out of adobe flash- plugged it back in and went to open my file. However, it wont open now! I've saved it a dozen times after I added each new part but I have nothing now! Is there a way to get it to open? The message that comes up simply says failed to open document.

This error normally pops up if a fla is tried to open in a lower version IDE.
For eg. a CS4 fla is tried to open in CS3.
But in your case its the CS3 only.
So I feel the file some how got corrupted.

In Photoshop, if you go to Help/About Plug-Ins/Camera Raw, what version of Camera Raw is reported? There should only be one version. And since you have Photoshop CS6 you could install Camera Raw 8.3.
Since you downloaded with the Nikon program, it could have changed your raw files such that they cannot be opened in Camera Raw. I understand there is a utility somewhere that will fix the files if that is the problem. But I don't recall how to find that utility.
Next time you have raw files to download, I suggest you use Lightroom to do the downloading from the card. I see no value in using any of the Nikon software to perform that task. If there is any chance that you still have the images on the card, I would suggest trying to download them again using Lightroom. But first you would have to remove the ones that you downloaded initially.

Your PST file might have got corrupt or damaged with 'Cut Copied' , that's why you are not able to access it on your new Laptop. Could you let me know how did you export your PST file from your old laptop/system?
A valid way to Export PST file is by using Import & Export option in Outlook (Open Outlook -> File Tab -> Click Options -> Click Advanced -> Import & Export) . Once you export the PST file on your old computer, copy that PST file into
any external storage drive(or by any other medium) and transfer it to your new laptop. Now open Outlook and Create a new profile ( Click the Show Profiles button -> Click
Add to create a new profile -> Enter a name for your profile -> Enter Name, Email id & Password -> Click 'Manually configure server settings' box to get into More Settings and
customize the Outgoing server settings.) Once you are done with this, Import that PST into Outlook using Import & Export wizard.
