  • PSE Organizer fails to open

PSE 9 will not open Organizer but will open Edit, Create and Share.  An error message, "application unexpectedly closed" appears.  At that point it is a "do-loop" of error messages.  I have uninstall and reintalled the software, turn the computer on and off.  But so far nothing is allowing Organizer to open.
Any thoughts on how to get Organizer to open in iMac?

First try holding down the shift key when you start organizer (you are starting it from applications and not the welcome screen, right?), and you should see the catalog manager. Select your catalog and then Repair and Optimize.

  • PSE Editor won't open in Windows 7

I just tried to use PSE 7 on my new Dell XPS 9000 with Windows 7 and I receive a message that there is an error. The organizer opens fine. I did click on the icon on properties and tried to change to allow PSE to work but that did no good. So, please keep it simple (I'm simple) and tell me if I have an option to fix 7 to work or am I forced to upgrade to PSE 8? I did try to re-install to no avail. I did not try to re-install by turning off anti-virus as I have read/been suggested. I doubt that would fix the problem. I s everyone, even with PSE 8 having problems right now? If so, and the Forum members do suggest PSE 8, I think I would wait until all the bugs are worked out.

Thanks John.... I did try to install with the antivirus disabled to no avail.
I tried everything you suggested. When trying to open the editor and watching the files load, I get the error warning dialog box when the "twain" files are loading if that means anything. I am downloading the 8 trial version now. Going very slow for an i7 processor. About 1 hr into it with an hour to go! Maybe because this is a busy time of day for Adobe. I did call Adobe but they want to charge to get 7 working. I think that is very unfair considering I did not cause a problem and in my opinion Adobe should have updates to allow 7 to run with Windows 7. They must have a simple fix if they are willing to fix for a price. I have bought Adobe software for years now and I am disappointed at the way they treat their "regular" customers. Any more ideas?  Wonder why some can run PSE7 with no problems and others can't? I did tell you that this is a new Dell XPS 9000 that came with Windows 7 64 bit, didn't I ? Thanks again

  • PSE 11 - Editor Fails to Load

I just upgraded from PSE 7 to PSE 11. Everything seems to have installed and the organiser loads, but I cannot get the editor to load. When selecting editor mode, it attempts to load but then crashes, a window pops up "Adobe photoshop elements 11 has stopped working".
I made a shortcut of the editor to desktop, but it crashes as well. This has happened since install, the editor has never worked.
System: meets all minimum requirments for software to run.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

It seems that most of what has been suggested here as already been tried by the OP.
Let's see if we can't gather some more info about why PSE is failing to open.
    Open Control Panel
    Go to Administrative Tools
    Open Event Viewer
Expand "Windows Logs" in the left panel and select "Applications"
In the center panel, look for a red circle with an X, this will be an error log. The logs are listed by time, so you will want to attempt to open PSE just before coming to the Event Viewer. Hopefully there is an error for PSE that will give us some more information.

  • PDF Printer and Acrobat fail to open or run or anything else.

    Hi
Adobe Acrobat Standard 9 has been installed on this TS2008 (VM) server for over a year without problem until recently.
To start, the Adobe PDF printer stopped creating PDFs. When it worked a user would print and the PDF (creation) progress bar dialog box would open and the Adobe Distiller icon would appear in the taskbar (swirling) and a PDF would be created. Now we get the progress bar but no Distiller icon and no PDF is created.
Then Adobe Acrobat Standard (editor) failed to open any PDFs. We installed Adobe Acrobat 9 reader which opened PDFs for a while and now that has stopped working.
After many uninstalls, reinstalls, reg cleans we decided to open a case with Adobe who told us that Acrobat 9 is not supported on Server2008. The customer purchased Adobe Acrobat X.
We installed Acrobat X (in terminal server mode) and all was well for around 24hrs and then it all stopped working again.
I have since uninstalled reinstalled again. I created 1 PDF and after that the progress bar just hangs. We performed a controlled user logon to the server and all was going well until one user logged in and he isnt able to open Acrobat to read or edit PDFs.
There are no events logs which appear to directly relate to this. We were concerned about a HpBIDI driver which no longer errors but we do have a large amount of EventID 7036, ServerControl Manager Eventlog provider and EventID 4 SpoolerWin32SPL.
We have since been back to Adobe Support who advised us to unplug the network cable which we cannot do as its a hosted VM (with no access to the the VM console). He then asked us to remove the server from the Domain which we can't do as this is a single live server. They intend to come back to me!
We are really at a loss here for idea's, can anyone please provide some clues?
    Thanks

    Hi billu54860732,
Try running the Repair command from under the Help menu to see if it corrects the problem.
The probable cause of the error is, multiple processes of Acrobat/Reader running in the background.
If 'Repair' doesn't resolve the issue kindly follow the steps mentioned below and check, if it helps.
    1) Press CTRL+ALT+DEL together
    2) Go to the Task Manager
    3) Go to Processes in the Task Manager and kill al the processes related to Acrobat/Reader.
    4) Launch Reader/Acrobat (It should launch without an error).
To further isolate the issue you might want to run Acrobat/Reader in an environment where no other services are running.
This can be achieved via "MSCONFIG"
    1) Click on start type run
    2) Type MSCONFIG in the run prompt
    3) Go to services and click on hide all Microsoft services
    4) Click disable all
    5) Go to the startup in configuration window and disable all startup items
    6) Restart your system
    7) Launch Acrobat/Reader
If, it is launched without an error, a service on your system is conflicting with Acrobat/Reader.
Let me know if issue persist.

    Aadesh

  • Photoshop Elements 10 Editor fails on Windows 8 Pro

Every time I start the Elements 10 Editor, it gives a C++ library error message and quits. I'm getting the following entry in the Event log. Can anyone help me get it working. Thanks.

I have a very similar problem.
Elements 10 Editor fails to open.  I do not get any error codes simply the message that reads "Adobel Photoshop Elements 10 has stopped working.  A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.  Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available".    (Seen that message lots of times in various programs, can't recall Windows ever getting back to me with a solution so I'm not holding my breath that I will ever get notified of a solution, but I digress).
I tried reinstalling Elements (and Premier as I have the dual package programs), uninstalled by clicking on Install on the DVD (strange way to get the uninstall to work but thats how it is).  I understand this way is best so I don't lose the ability to reinstall the program due to limited number of installs.  I reinstalled.  Same error.  Repeated the uninstall and then this time also went to Control Panel and uninstalled everything with Adobe in the name.  Reboot, re-install retry, no effect same erro.  Repeat the above two uninstalling processes and then this time to into the Registry and remove all reference to Adobe Elements (and was surprised by how many references to Elements continued to exist even after the un-installing.  Thought this would work.  I was wrong.  After the reinstall I get exactly the same error. I tried to watch when Elements Editor tries to open to see if I could read what it is doing when it fails, it seems to fail just as the window opens after its run through all those things it loads in the blue window.  The blue window disappears, the gray window opens, and then crash.
I have tried each of the solutions offered above to the OP.  I don't see any reply indicating it worked for him either.
Funny thing is that Elements 10 used to work on this Windows 8 system  (FYI it is Windows 8 Pro edition, 64bit).  I've had to reinstall Windows 8 a few times since I 'up'-graded to Windows 8 in the fall, it seems to be a rather fragile OS, previous re-installs did not hurt Elements 10, but this most recent one did.
Is there a patch to improve Elements 10's compatibility with Windows 8?
Is there a setting in Windows 8 that is more Elements 10 friendly?

  • PSE 11 Editor won't open

Just received a new PC w/ PSE 11 pre-installed.  OS is Windows 8.
Was editing a photo in LR 4 and wanted to go into PSE 11 Editor to do more editing.  When I tried to open PSE editor, Adobe required product registration, which I did.  LR created a duplicate TIFF file and everything, and the window popped up asking if I wanted to Edit a Copy with Lightroom Adjustments, etc., and then PSE 11 Editor opened up fine the very first time.  (However it didn't seem like some of the tools were working properly, but that's another question for another time.)
Subsequent attempts to open the PSE Editor either from Elements itself and LR4 have failed.  Editor will not open.  Why is this happening with a brand new product?

Try these solutions to see if any of these work.
If none of them works, let me know.
    Solution1:
Close Elements. Launch the Photoshop Elements Welcome Screen and hold down ctrl + alt + shift as you click Editor. Continue to hold the keys until you see a message box asking if you want to delete Photoshop Elements settings file. Click Yes. Elements will open with default preferences.
    Solution2:
In case any network printer is attached try to launch without network or printer uninstall or make different printer as default.
    Solution3:
In case that does not work too, you may try this.
Try launching with anti-virus off or removing PSE from conflicting list.

  • Documents now opening in pse editor photoshop instead of a PDF in Adobe reader?

why is all of my documents now opening in pse editor photoshop instead of a PDF in Adobe reader?

It is a file association issue. How to fix it depends upon your OS.

  • PSE 8 Editor does not open

PSE 8 editor has stopped opening. I've tried opening it from the organizer and from the welcome page. The loading-the-editor box pops up like it's going to open, but then the loading box goes away with no editor opening. I tried un-installing and reinstalling the program to no avail. The computer has Windows 7, 64-bit. Any help would be greatly appreciated... the PSE organizer portion is pretty worthless without the editor!

It sounds like you could be experiencing a conflict with a scanner driver.
Go back the Program Files (x86) >>Plug-ins>>Import/Export and delete the TWAIN driver.
Elements will work without it, but if you have scanner and want to scan directly PSE you'll need to install an up to date driver from the manufacturer's web site.
If you don’t use a scanner there’s nothing to worry about.
If that doesn’t work you may need to re-build the preferences.
You do that by holding down Ctrl+Alt+Shift whilst simultaneously clicking Edit on the welcome screen.
When you see a pop-up behind the welcome screen click yes, to delete settings.
Then re-start Elements and it will re-build the preferences.

  • PSE 12 Editor won't open

Purchased PSE 12 recently and workrd fine for a few weeks. Then started getting 30-day trial countdown until 30 days later it doesn't work. Reinstalled several times from DVD but nothing happens when I click desktop icon. Copied files from DVD to PC and clicked "setup" and now I get the splash page and can open the organizer but not the editor. Am running Windows7.

It only took from October 2013 to until a few days ago to get my Photoshop Elements 12 Editor to open. GautamBahl (Adobe Staff) was answering a "Premiere Elements 12 Editor Will Not Open" problem the other day in the Premiere Elements Forum. I tried the posed fix on my "Photoshop Elements 12 Editor Will not Open" problem and was stunned that it solved my problem.
Did you see my post on this here in the Photoshop Elements Forum where I posted the good news.

All you are going to do is find and rename two folders said to be involved in the program activation
    SLStore Folder renamed to SLStoreOLD
    SLCache Folder renamed to SLCacheOld
    Local Disc C
    Program Data
    Adobe
and in the Adobe Folder is the SLStore Folder that is renamed from SLStore to SLStoreOLD.
    Local Disc C
    Program Files (x86)
    Common Files
    Adobe
and in the Adobe Folder is the SLCache Folder that is renamed from SLCache to SLCacheOLD.
I tried countless fix for the Photoshop Elements 12 Editor that would not open, but the above was the one that worked for me.
Please let me know if it worked for you also.
    Thank you.

  • PSE 11 Editor Won't Open Due to my "tampering"

Photo Elements 11 Editor won’t open. (I also have PSE 6 and Editor now won’t open in it). I have Windows XP. Editor was working fine until I was trying to get my Viveza 2 plug-in into PSE 11 (I had it in PSE6 and all was fine).  I looked all over internet and could not find answer. Went into PSE 11 Editor screen and from one of the tabs I saw a place for plug-ins—you could browse for folder/file of plug-in (or so I thought). I went to Viveza folder inside my NIK folder and clicked it. After that --- Editor no longer loads in PSE 11 or 6. I have tried resetting Preferences—no help. I don’t even know what tab I used in Editor since I cannot open it. Any thoughts? I thought about uninstalling and reinstalling but think nothing will change since PSE6 was affected too. Need to change whatever I did to the file.
    Any thoughts?? Thanks!

Try making a direct desktop icon for the Editor and see if you can launch the program directly from the desktop.
Right click anywhere on the desktop and select New >> Shortcut
    Browse to Computer OS C:
And find the PSE Editor application:
    C: >> Program Files (x86) >> Adobe >> Photoshop Elements 11
Within the Photoshop Elements 11 folder find PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe (the application not the Adobe shortcut)
Select that file and click Next.
    Then click Finish.
You should now be able to launch by right-clicking on the new desktop icon, bypassing the welcome screen. Try choosing “Run As Administrator” That often improves stability.

  • Editor will not open after Elements 11 is transferred from Mac Snow Leopard to OS 10.10.2 Yosemite

I have been running Photoshop Elements 11 on a Mac with OS 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard). I've just got a new Mac with the latest OS X (OS 10.10.2, Yosemite). I transferred all my files to the new computer with Migration Assistant.
The PSE 11 seemed to install fine and the Organiser opens OK, except that I get a message saying 'Some online services are unavailable' and asking if I want to go on without them. However when I try to open the Editor it won't open, instead I get two error messages, first 'Some of the application components are missing from the Application directory, please reinstall the application', and then 'A required application library failed to open and the product cannot continue. Please reinstall the application'.
My questions are – should I just do a reinstall from the original disk? If so, should I do a complete uninstall of Elements 11 first? If I do a reinstall, will I lose any edits, version sets or anything else?
I had been told that I should be able to simply transfer over the PSE 11, with the original product key no. Are there any incompatibilities between PSE 11 and the latest version of Yosemite?
    Thanks for any orientation,
    Nick

You can never, never, never transfer any installed version of PSE on any platform. You must always install from scratch on a new machine. By trying to do so you have made more work for yourself. You will need to download and run this:
Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
which will not seem to do anything, but is a necessary step to break the links within the program. Then you can go around and manually remove everything related to PSE that you can find, not only from Applications, but also from your username>library>preferences and the library at the top level of your hard drive>application support>adobe. You must go to these locations manually; spotlight will not help you with this type of search.
Then you can reinstall from your original media or from the download here:
    Download Photoshop Elements products | 13, 12, 11, 10

  • After 2 mos, Adobe Elements 12 Editor won't open

Worked fine before, now Editor won't open at all either from the Organizer or from anywhere else, such as Lightroom. Suggestions please

Interesting.  I just closely examined the error dialogs I was getting when PSE 12 failed to launch.  There were numerous problems with case sensitivity errors for various frameworks inside the application.  For instance, one of the errors complained that it could not find the "AdobeLinguistic" framework.  The reason evidently is that the name was actually spelled without capitals.  It was "adobelinguistic".  I manually correct quite a number of these types of errors by renaming the offending area in the Framworks section of the application bundle.  This continued with each launch.  I'd get a new error.   I'd correct it and try again.  Another error.  Another correction.  Finally, it got past all the issues and launched PSE 12.  However, at that point, there was some internal error in PSE 12 (no surprise) that prevented it from running yet didn't show any kind of dialog where I could attempt to perform any further corrections.  I suspect this may have something to do with the fact that I have my disk partition setup as a case sensitive partition.  If someone else has a disk that is not case sensitive, I suspect they wouldn't see this error.
I've reported this as a bug on the Photoshop Family Customer Community in the hopes that someone from Adobe will see it and take corrective action.
I realize that some of you may find this post over your head a bit technically and for that I apologize.  But since I had already posted here earlier, I wanted to get this out so people would understand that there does appear to be a real issue with PSE 12.  We'll see what Adobe has to say.
    Tom

  • Having installed an upgrade for Photoshop Elements 13, I cannot open the application. I get an error message saying "Adobe Photoshop Elements Editor cannot be opened because of a problem. Check with the developer to make sure Adobe Photoshop Elements Edit

Having installed an upgrade for Photoshop Elements 13, I cannot open the application. I get an error message saying "Adobe Photoshop Elements Editor cannot be opened because of a problem. Check with the developer to make sure Adobe Photoshop Elements Editor works with this version of OS X. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install any available updates for the application and OS X".
I have since uninstalled and reinstalled the app, but get the same error message.

Which version of OS X do you have? It's not clear from your post whether "installed an upgrade" means you just installed PSE 13 as an upgrade or you installed an update to PSE 13, like ACR 9 or 13.1. Please clarify.
