PSE Elements 11 editor very slow

PSE Elements 11 editor very slow and unresponsive since updating to Mac osx 10.9 (Maverick). Any help would be very much appreciated. Thankyou in advance.

If you upgrade to 10.9 with the application already installed the old prefs will have been left behind; so you need to clear them. Start by quitting PSE11.
Launch Finder and click the Go menu whilst holding down the Option (alt) key. Then go to Library >> Preferences and clear everything relating to PSE11 which usually means deleting the following files:
com.adobe.PhotoshopElements.plist
Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 Paths
Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 Settings
Also see this link if you normally have Finder set to the cover flow view:

  • Photoshop Elements 11 : very slow startup

    Hi
Here is a description of my problem:
    I boot my machine.
    I start Photoshop Elements 11.
It takes a very long time to get ready ( loading color settings and workshop modes )
I close Photoshop Elements 11 when I am done with my project.
All subsequent startups of Photoshop Elements 11 are very fast.
    My question
How can I avoid the very slow FIRST startup of Photoshop Elements 11 ?
Can I pre-load the needed services (or whatever) when I boot my machine or when I login to my user account ?
Thank you in advance for your help

Thank you very much, Pat, for your great help.   The link has inspired me to download the trial version from the Adobe website and go from there:
"Adobe Download Assistant" was automatically downloaded before the download of the trial version began.  With the "Adobe Download Assistant" up and running, the download of the trial version took within 30 minutes.  I then got to enter the serial code of my already purchased PSE 12 right after installation of the trial version and completed the whole set-up process (without even opening or using the trial version at all).
It is rather counter-intuitive that one should start with a trial download even when he has gone straight into buying the product.  It was as if the trial version was a bridge to facilitate the official download because the trial version provided the "Adobe Download Assistant".  Maybe, it is expected that people would always take a trial before buying?  Or maybe, it is expected that most people would already have the "Adobe Download Assistant" handy?
Anyway, I am glad there is a solution.  In this case, I think the key is to get the "Adobe Download Assistant" which comes with the trial version.  Hope this post will help others who might face the same issue too.
    Many thanks again.

  • Premier Elements 4 very slow and frequently crash

    Dear Adobe support staff,
I've purchased Adobe Premier Elements 4 several yeard ago for an urgnet job I made.
I didn't use it much because it crashes all the time, and it is very very slow and frustrating. So I've used other software instead.
Needless to say that I was very dissappointed.
Now, I want to give it a second chance. but it stiil keep crashing and still very very slow.
    My questions:
    1.  Why does it  crash all the time?  is there is a fix for the problem?
    2.  What kind of  Graphics Card or Video Editing Card do you recommend for my system to work relatively normal ?
    3.  How much will it  cost me to upgrade to version 11 ?
    My system SPEC:
    OS:  Microsoft Windows 7 ultimate  with SP1 (32bit) .
CPU:  INTEL Core2 QUAD cpu Q9550 , 2.83 GHZ with a 4 GB of RAM.
Graphics card:  NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT.
Motherboard:   MICRO STAR INTERNATIONAL , MODEL MS-7353  3.0,  CHIPSET INTEL X48,
    RAM:  4 GB Dual Channel DDR2, 400 MHZ ,  512 MB memory.
    Please  advice.
    Sincerely yours,
    Shimon Tourgeman.

For the crashing, this FAQ Entry might be useful. It starts with a general PrE checklist, then goes into computer and OS tuneup, and ends with many links on troubleshooting and finding causes: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/792580?tstart=0
As for the GPU, any current video card, with at least 1GB of VRAM, will work well. PrE does not place much of a load on the GPU, but it DOES rely very, very heavily on the video driver. Both nVidia and AMD/ATI issue constant driver updates, with nVidia leading the way at this moment.
Also, while talking about drivers, some users have experienced issues with Win8 drivers. I would wait until SP1 has been released for Win8, before changing to it from Win7. For this reason, I just ordered a new laptop, and specified Win7. As the company, ADK, only builds custom and semi-custom video editing machines, they commented that they will ONLY install Win7 at this time, and have been testing Win8, since the first beta. They do not think that it is yet ready for "prime time."
    Good luck,
    Hunt
PS - I still use PrE 4.0, but on XP-Pro SP3, and have only crashed it 2-3 times over the years. At least 2 times, it was due to OE on my part. However, my computer is tuned and built for video editing.

  • Copying/Duplicating elements is very slow in Edge Reflow

    Hi,
When copying/duplicating elements in Edge Reflow that have quite a few nested areas it becomes very slow (sometimes taking 5-10 minutes!) I've tried it on a few machines in case it was a hardware issue but it seems sluggish on everything I try. Does anyone else have this issue and is it a software bug?
    Cheers,
    Rob.

    Hi Vic,
    Thanks for your response.
Copying and pasting a single div is fine but as soon as there are multiple nested divs it rapidly becomes very slow to copy and paste (especially if there is quite a lot on the page). Quite often we are finding that we are having to force quit Reflow because it just hangs for 10 minutes or more. Areas such as headers that are quite complex and have a lot of nested divs we are therefore forced to manually copy bit by bit.
    Many thanks,
    Rob.

  • PSE 11 Organizer very slow

Several months ago my battery on my Mac Book Pro died while I had PSE 11 Organizer open.  Ever since this time the organzer runs very slow and I spend more time watch the rainbow spin than I do working on my photos.  Does anyone have any idea what might be wrong or how to correct this problem?

Try resetting the preferences file to see if it makes any difference:

  • Photoshop Elements 12 - Very Slow Download

    Hello,
Having purchased from the official Adobe website the Photoshop Elements 12 (Mac version), I cannot wait to download it and see it in real motion.
However, the download speed is so slow that after an hour of download, the download box still indicates approx. 8 hours 50 minutes until download completion; and moving 0.1MB every second.
Now, just tried to cancel download and restart again, but the speed is still exceedingly slow and starting all over again...  The download is not likely to be an effective one based on how it is looking now and I am feeling very concerned that after many more hours of waiting and trying by myself, I would still be disappointed at the result.  Therefore, I am earnestly seeking your support here.
I don't know if this is a global issue for all online download for Photoshop Elements 12 or it is just a stand-alone case for me. For your reference, I am using MacBook Air (OS X 10.9.4) with very good broadband internet connection.
Does anyone know a solution to this issue?   Look forward to hearing from you and getting the issue figured out real soon.  Many thanks in advance.

  • Organizer ELements 10 very slow

Is it my P:C opr is it a design of the system, anything I do seems to take at least a minute.  If I drag a tag to another category it takes over a minute, a search on a folder with only 50 pictures takes as long. I did a Ctrl Z to undo a change to a rating and it took over a minute.
My machine is not that fast, it is a desktop I5 with 8 gig of ram and a 2 TB drive. I have about 50,000 images and videos on the PC
I have all the media analyzer boxes unchecked
I tried to move a folder from one upper level folder to another, I try to keep my photos organized by folders on my PC, it took a minute to move the folder
When I move it on my PC from folder to folder, since it only had 3 pics in it it was done almost before I let go of the mouse button.
THEN when I went to "reconnect" the pictures so they would show in organizer (it lost them when I moved it) it said they are already in the organizer, what gives?
I want to use the organizer to tag photos and be able to search on them but if I have to do everything in the organizer I am 60 and won't live long enough to actually get it to work!  Unless you dump everthing in to one big "My Pictures" folder and organized it then it will work, maybe

    I forgot...
Sorry, I am now with PSE11...
Moving a folder with 700 images in the 'Folders' view took still 5 seconds.
The number of folders was considered critical in older versions :
    John R Ellis wrote :
"Sometimes the Keyword Tags pane is painfully slow to use – expanding and collapsing categories, scrolling, dragging a keyword to a photo.   My tests showed that PSE 6 became unusable with more than 500 or so unique keyword tags, but that PSE 7 was able to handle at least 1500 to 2000 keyword tags."
Personnally I had no problem in PSE6 with more than 700 tags. I don't think that is really a problem.
To summarize : I still don't see what makes your organizer so sluggish...
PSE11 : no doubt it's speedier, especially in folder view. I am always disappointed when I have to work with PSE10 on my wife's laptop which is about the same as your computer, with only 4 Gb. Suggestion : wait next month for PSE12... and use a trial version.

  • PS Elements 12 very slow, very very slow!

Hi, I started using Ps elements 12 to try it out. My past experience with elements is flawless speed but with 12 for example using the smudge tool can sometimes take up to 30+ seconds to complete. I can actually watch the progress are the picture as it transitions. Is there a setting that I cant find or something causing this to happen?
    Pc specs
    Win 7 ultimate
    3.8ghz i7 haswell
    16gb 1666ghz ram
    gtx 770 2gb card
Ps elements and projects I'm working on are installed on a SSD.
So with those specs it should run smooth.
    Help please!

My guess, if you aren't waiting for the organizer to generate thumbnails, would be the auto analyzer. It's not as easy to kill in PSE 12. Go into task manager and stop it there and see if it makes a difference.

  • Have Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 and it's running very slow.  I don't know what's wrong!

I have Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 and it's running very slow.  Have no idea what's wrong or how to fix.  Op Sys is Apple, OS X, ver 10.9.1.

    If so, then see:
    http://barbarabrundage.com/2013/10/28/photoshop-elements-and-os-x-mave ricks/
For PSE 11 you want to get
    com.adobe.PhotoshopElements.plist
    Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 paths
    Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 settings
    if you use organizer, also
    com.adobe.Elements Organizer.11.0.plist
    com.adobe.ElementsOrganizer11.plist
If you use raw, Adobe Camera Raw < version > Prefs
and any lockfiles with the same names.
Since you've already run PSE, go into the Saved Application States folder and delete any for PSE.
    Repair permissions and try again.
Also go to the organizer preferences>media analysis and be sure everything there is off (except face recognitiion, if you use that).

  • Elements 10 organizer is very slow. Exif-file modification.

    Slow Elements organizer
Problem 1: My elements organiser is slow! Very very slow!???
Problem two:  Why Elements 10 organizer wipes off some data from exif-file, f.e. longitude reference (east or west). It is doing that for my exif-files each time I editing jpg-image. If I start editing with Element 10 editor from Picasa-organizer, then longitude references stays untouchable.
    Please advice!

I recently bought, from the original website of Adobe, Photoshop elements 13. However, when I go with my mouse pointer over the menu, It hangs or he works very slow. Does anyone have an idea how I can fix it? I have already downloaded updates, both from Adobe and Windows. I have a new pc with window 8.1.

It could be a coincidence, but I rebooted the machine and (knock on wood) PSE13 seems to be working ok.

I used to have vista and my PSE8 worked just fine. I switched to Windows 7 because there werent any compatibility issues... or so I thought. PSE 8 downloads just fine and organizer opens just fine. Editor wont open... freezes and runs my computer very slow. It shows up in the task manager under processes but i dont see the program to use it.
I need serious help, please! I've been on the phone with adobe tech support for 2 months now saying they will call back in 3 days and never do. I've done all the "solutions" on the website with no luck.
Any ideas on how to fix the issue? I've noticed a lot of others having the same problem and I wonder what they have done to fix it or if they havnt fixed it what do they do in the mean time? Is there another product I can buy? Can adobe give me a free copy of a product that does work?
    Please PLease Help!!

    Hi,
I would like to know whether organiser or editor crashes ?
If its organiser then there is something related to Catalog.
    Try these steps :
    1. Goto this location : C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Elements Organizer\Catalogs\  -- (program data is hidden folder by default , you will need to unhide it)
    2. Under this location you will find all the catalogs that were created by you
    3. Choose your default catalog.
    4. In that select and delete all the folders except Breezedata and file with extension .pse8db
    5. Relauch your organiser and then check if its stil crashing.
    Thanks,

  • New iMovie & PSE 12 Running Painfully Slow

    Have iMac 27", mid-2010, 3.2GHz Intel Core i3, 12GB memory.
Recently installed OSX Mavericks; and new version of Photoshop Elements (12).
Both the new version of iMovie and PSE are running very slowly (5-8 sec. delays when scrolling; moving clips in the timeline, etc.) Did not have this problem with previous version of iMovie or PSE 9 (was running Mountain Lion). At suggestion of Apple Tech. Support, I cleared the Cache file, and added 8GB of RAM, to a total of 12GB. Still running slow.
Anyone else experience these problems? Any suggestions for fixes?
    Thanks Much,
