PSE on my MacBook Pro

I am running PSE 12 on my Macbook Pro with the latest system and all available updates for the system and Safari. I hae numerous crashes/hang-ups with Organizer. When I report this to Adobe I get a message saying they have found a solution, and I need to install the system update and Safari update--already done. My PSE is only several months old and was downloaded from here. However, it does appear that PSE now has a small update to 12.1, but if so I can't find out how to upgrade to that if it would in fact help. Anyone have any ideas?

Installing PSE 8 on Macbook Pro?

I am trying to install my PSE 8 that i was given for my birthday last year. I just bought my MacBook Pro last night, so I am still a little clueless. I inserted the PSE 8 disc into my computer and when I go to the fider it shows and there is nothing that I can click to actually install it. I clicked on the folder labeled "Adobe Photoshop Elements" and this is all I get. Everything inside these folders only open up in the TextEdit app. Can anyone help me out?

It doesn't so I have to double click on the icon in the top right corner then I double click on pse8 and then set up. It starts the intiallizing but ends with the same message everytime that the firefox application must be closed in order to continue. Is there a better way? Everything is closed as far as I can tell. Nothing has begun to download.

Problems installing pse 8 on macbook pro

I'm trying to install pse8 on my new Mac Book Pro and keep getting an error message saying that Firefox is running and I cannot install until that program is closed. Only problem is firefox is not running. Has anyone come across this problem before? I was able to successfully download other software onto my computer immediately following my pse 8 attempt.
Help please??

Trouble installing PSE 11 on Macbook Pro

Yes you can install it on your new Macintosh. If it does not have an optical drive then you can copy the contents of the installation media to a USB drive and then install the software from there.

Having installed PSE 10 from DVD as instructed, when I try to open it I get a message that says: Photoshop Elements 10 cannot be opened because of a problem.

Well, PSE 6 and up all work fine in 10.7.4, so let's try to find out what went wrong. Are you running from an admin account? If you have antivirus software did you disable it while installing? How are you trying to open PSE?

MacBook Pro upgrade & PSE

I have an Apple MacBook Pro with OS X 10.6.8 and I want to purchase PhotoShop Elements, (PSE), but it says I need OS X 10.7.4 but I can't seem to upgrade to it.
Can you upgrade to it and if not, will PSE work on my system, (OS X 10.6.8)?

The Photoshop Elements version available in the App Store is only compatible with OS X 10.7.4 or newer, so you have to upgrade to OS X Lion or Mountain Lion.
First, check that your Mac is compatible with OS X Mountain Lion > http://www.apple.com/osx/specs If it's compatible, open the App Store and purchase OS X Mountain Lion. While it's being downloaded, make a backup of your data and check that your applications are compatible > http://www.roaringapps.com
When the download finishes, the Mountain Lion installer will appear, so follow the steps to upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion.

I am totally happy with the way iPhoto organizes my photos and how I can work with iMovie to create slide shows with music from iTunes, etc.
I have been shooting mostly high resolution jpegs and I continue to learn more and more about photography, post processing etc. I realize that the small adjustments I can make in iPhoto are good, and are adequate most of the time. However, a have started to experiment with shooting RAW images and would like to go the next step, ie. post processing.I am totally technically challenged and need SIMPLE, INTUITIVE programs and am certainly NOT anywhere ready for Photoshop CS whatever!
After having these programs sit on my computer, I decided to try to see if I could figure them out. When I opened Aperture, this is what first comes up.

I have heard horror stories about moving your entire library to Aperture, ending up with 2 libraries, etc. etc. hence my previous reluctance in attempting Aperture. In addition, many of my photography friends are saying: Go with Lightroom 3.....you’ll love it!
So here is my dilemma. I don’t want to mess around with my iPhoto library. All I want to be able to do, is to isolate a few photos, export them to Aperture, Elements, and work on them there, then bring them back into iPhoto.
Can I do this? Should I forget about Aperture and Elements and look at purchasing yet another program like Lightroom?

Export those few photos via the File ➙ Export ➙ File Export menu option with Kind = Original to the Desktop. Then import them into the Aperture library. That would keep one copy in your iPhoto library and another in your Aperture library to edit, etc.
You can use Photoshop Elements 9 from within iPhoto as your editor of choice. However, if you edit a raw file in iPhoto with PSE9 the resulting edited version must be saved outside the iPhoto Library and imported back in as a new file. For editing jpegs just do a Save (not a Save As) and it all will be kept within iPhoto.
Using Photoshop or Photoshop Elements as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop or Photoshop Elememts as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop. When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window
that indicates that PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file. You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements the Saving File preferences should be configured as shown:
I also suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always. In PSE’s General preference pane set the Color Picker to Apple as shown:
Note: to switch between iPhoto and PS or PSE as the editor of choice Control (right)-click on the thumbnail and select either Edit in iPhoto or Edit in External Editor from the contextual menu. If you use iPhoto to edit more than PSE re-select iPhoto in the iPhoto General preference pane. Then iPhoto will be the default editor and you can use the contextual menu to select PSE for your editor when desired.

How do I move Photos from PC to Macbook Pro

Just purchased LR 2 and a new Macbook Pro. After two weeks, glad I did it, but its about to give me Brain overload. I've read 4-5 books and watched a dozen videos.
I just installed 2 Ext HDs and want to put my catalog, library on one Ext. HD and Backup on the next. One of the reasons I havn't used LR 2 yet and reading all these books is, I want to set it right the first time, hoping it will give me few problems in the future.
I've searched these forums, but cannot find a question with my problem. I'm now going from Lightroom on PC to lightroom on a Mac, or PSE to LR 2.
I'm going from a PC that has all my photos in the My Pictures folder. Most are Jpegs, a few canon raw. (about 2,000 )
My questions are
1. When I read to format the Ext HD's to the Macbook, I did and this cleared them out. No folders or files. Will LR 2 auto put a folder in each HD called lightroom photos or will I have to do that manually. If I have to do it, since I'm new to Mac, how do I do that?
2. I have a third 500 GB Ext HD that I have my music on and I have about 100 gigs blank. I can move my photos over to this drive on the PC and import them into the mac using LR 2? Since I havn't started LR 2 yet, I read that I can hold down the "alt" key and the Mac, start LR 2, and it will ask me "where I want to put my catalog. After I tell it the Ext HD, will it do everything automatic, or will I have to do more setup.

The synced photos should be in an album in the "Albums" tab of your iPod.
As long as you did not transfer the synced photos to your computer do on no account activate "iCloud Photo Library Beta" on your iPad. That will wipe all synced photos from the iPad.
You can't reimport pictures synced from your computer to your device back to your computer. You can only import pictures in the Camera Roll or Saved Photos from your device to your computer. If you need to retrieve synced photos from your device:
Email them from the device to yourself.
Copy them from the emails to your computer.

Hmm, that is very strange. I agree with MichelB that it's probably best just to get the PDF, but you can try going to your username>library>preferences and deleting:
com.adobe.PhotoshopElements.plist
Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 settings
Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 paths
To see the library, click the Go menu in the Finder and hold down the option key and it will appear below the little house for your user account. While you're in there it wouldn't be a bad idea to go to the Saved Application States folder and delete anything pertaining to PSE.
Repair permissions and see if that does it.

Photoshop Elements 4.0 on macbook pro?

Hi!
Anyone know if it is possible to install Photoshop Elements 4.0 on macbook pro 10.6.4? Cause when I install it, restart computer, open the application then it says that something is invalid, name, licence nr, ... But I know that everything is correct and I tried to uninstall it and then again install it but the problem remains.
Any word of advice?

A quick Google search found the page below that states that PSE 4.0 is NOT compatible with Leopard so it is certainly not compatible with Snow Leopard.
If you need PSE, you are going to have to upgrade to a newer version

Which Intel CPU is used for MacBook Pro 13" 2.26 GHz

Hello,
I want to buy the above-mentioned MacBook Pro, however, I don't know which CPU model is used (P7550 or P8400), since I need the CPU feature "IVT" (Intel® Virtualization Technology) which is only available in P8400.
In some German discussions I got the information that both CPU models have been sold in Germany (checked with the tool CPU-X)
The MacBook Pro with 2.53 GHz (P8700) has also the IVT feature.
Does anybody know which CPU model is currently used in the MacBook 13" (MMB990*/A)?

Today I was in the apple store in munich and checked some mbp 13" 2,26 GHz systems. All had the 8400 inside. I shortly spoke with a saleman, however, he didn't know about different models inside the systems and told me, that I can't test the system locally, but I can check it @home and if i'm not happy with the system I could bring it back within 14 days.
My result from the mbp:

I compared it with your results and the only difference I found was an additional feature "SMX" (Safer Mode Extensions). I couldn't find out for what exactly this is used, but I seems independ of the IVT.
I believe that you are right, and the VMX corresponds to the "IVT" feature. If this is true, I could take any MBP 13"
