PSE Slideshow Error

Hi, I'm currently using PSE 7 and having problems viewing a slideshow I created a while back. When trying to view the slide show, PSE plays the first several seconds of the slideshow, but then crashes. Here is my system info:

I've tried to update my video card's driver, update QuickTime and upgrade to PSE 9. None of which solved the issue. Any ideas as to what could be causing the issue would be much appreciated!

There are two possible solutions: Try deleting the "slideshow.dat" preferences file, and see if you have WinDVD installed.
To help other users here, please post back as to whether either of these worked.

PSE 10 Error Saving Project

I have been getting an error message: "Error Saving Project" when I try to save my PSE 10 slide show. I am unable to save any changes. I have closed out the project and opened it again and received the same error message. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, I am also having this same problem.
I've been making changes to this particular slideshow for weeks. Today I did about 2 hours of work and now I can't save the project. Error message is "Error Saving Project". I've also tried saving to new a new file name with the same results.
I didn't add or delete any slides today. I only added zoom/pan to several dozen slides. There are about 70 slides overall.
I have not exited the program for fear that I will lose all my work.
Does anyone have something to try?

How to publish PSE slideshow to the web

I can't seem to figure how to publish the slideshow I created in PSE 7; I have a website, and want to post the show on it. Are my only options to save it as a .wmv file or a .pdf?? I can get the .pdf to publish, but when I try to publish the .wmv to my site, all that pops up is the black Media Viewer box and an error message that says the file cannot be found.
Any idea what I may be doing wrong?

The problem is that you are using formats that are not suitable. For some people, a pdf is always going to show as just a download (and that will put plenty of stress on your bandwidth if lots of friends are downloading those slideshows). The WMV file is also not quite the way to do it. The better solution is to create a so-called online album, which is really a flash slideshow, and upload that to the server of your choice.

Pse8 Slideshow Error

Hi, I'm using Pse8. When I try to save my slideshow using Save Project, I get the following error message pop-up: Elements Organizer "An error occurred while saving the project". Clicking OK, removes the pop-up and "grays-out" the Save Project option on the menu bar. Same scenario occurs if I select File/Save As. Any ideas on what I can do to save the slideshow so I can work on it later?

I was getting exactly the error as you, on one of two machines running the same operating system as you. The only difference between the two computers was that one had the catalog saved on a local disk and the other was accessing this same catalog over the local network (via a homegroup). In both cases, the photos are on a NAS. The error occured only on the machine which was accessing the catalog over the net. So I moved the catalog to the local disk of the computer with the error. No more error on that machine - but now the other computer has the same error. It's pretty clear that there is a bug in PSE preventing it from storing projects in catalogs that are on non-local disks. (as others have pointed out, the projects folder is in the main Catalog folder).
You say "Photo library located on a network storage device". I'm guessing that your catalog is also on the NAS. True? If so, I believe that your problem will be solved if you move the catalog to the local disk (leave the photos where they are). Just move the entire catalog folder to a convenient place on the local disk and then in Organizer, click "File", "Catalog...", "custom location" and browse to the folder containing the catalog folder. The catalog folder name will appear in the box below. Click it and then click "Open"; PSE will remember this new location. You're done. No need to change anything else.
As a fringe benefit of this change, I suspect your PSE will be noticeably faster. I originally had the catalog on the NAS, like you. I've got around 23,000 photos in the catalog, and my latest 18 megapixel camera creates 5 MB jpeg files. The photos folder now is about 100 GB. The catalog is about 1 GB. I found that the Organizer was very slow, unacceptably slow, even though both computers, the NAS, and the switch connecting them have gigabit Ethernet interfaces. Moving the catalog to a local disk made a very significant speed difference.

PSE 9 Error Message

Upon start up an error message that says: Unable to locate component. Application failed to start because file MSVCP110.dll was not found. Re-installing the the application may fix this problem.
The message box will not close until I click the OK button exactly 15 times, PSE 9 then opens. Once open I can no longer access any of my NIK software plug-ins. I re-installed the application and
I still get the same message and results. I am running the app on a PC with Windows Vista Home Premium. I have used the app for quite some time and have not installed or uninstalled any other apps
in months. Any help would e greatly appreciated.

PSE 7 error in editor

I installed PSE7 over six months ago & it worked fine until now. The only thing I have done different recently was install MSN Messenger. Everytime I try & open editor it gives me a windows error. It says Adobe Photoshop Elements (Editor) has stopped working. A problem has caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a soltution is available. It never pops up a solution though. I do not know where my original disc is. Can anyone help me please!!??

PSE 6 error in Photo Downloader 4

So Greatful for the support!!! One issue solved and onto another. I just got my editor to load by upgrading my printer drivers. But when I try to open my photoloader it opens and then when the "Loading Device List ....Please Wait" message comes up and it hangs up and eventually sends an error message or just hangs. I don't really need the photoloader but it might be nice to utilize it and skip using other programs. Hope there is some information for a repair. Thanks P
Error messaage: PSE 6 has encountered a problem with Photo Downloader 4 and must close.
PS Thought I would post again and say I tried several of options that I found in the search, with no success. I finally did the Regedit (I am always concerned messing with that!!) and sofar it looks like it is no longer loading!

Hi,
I guess, the twain driver installed recently is causing the problem.
Please follow the following steps:
1. Go to C:\Windows\twain_32
2. If you find any file with .ds extention (except wiatwain.ds), remove it from this location.
3. Relaunch Photodownloader.
This should solve the problem.

i have several pages of pictures on my iWeb site. on most of the pages ("captured" "europe circa 2002" "the empire state") the pictures and slideshows display normally. On one page ("the happiest place on earth")however the slideshow features gives an error message. The pictures display fine on the page itself but an error occurs when i click on the thumbnails for a bigger view. i get the same error message when i try to launch the slideshow in the galleries within the "happiest place on earth" gallery.
ive tried to "publish all" to solve the problem but that didnt work.

I'm thinking that it might have something to do with your naming scheme for your photo pages. I notice that you have named all of your photo pages with smart quotes around them, and I'm wondering if this might be part of the problem. I know that apostrophes in the page names can cause the slideshows to not function.
Of course, the rest of your photo pages are named similarly as well, with the smart quotes. At least give this a try...either take the quotes off the non-functioning pages or disable the smart-quote function in the iWeb preferences panel (this will disable the smart quotes for your entire site and leave regular quotation marks).
But your slideshows are uploaded just fine. I think the javascript that launches the slideshow function is confused by all the punctuation...

If you wanted to, you could just replace the "Start Slideshow" hyperlink with the ones above...(you'd have to copy and paste the icon graphic and attach the hyperlink yourself). But if I were you, I'd figure out what is causing this and try to fix it so that iWeb can keep doing the work for you.

'empty slideshow' error message

Hi all,
Sorry to repeat this question, but I'm desperate - the movie I've made is due to be screened in two days and I can't burn it.
When I click the Burn button, I get this message:
The following warnings and errors were found during the validation of the current project:
- There is an empty slideshow in your project. Make sure every slideshow contains at least one image or delete any empty slideshow before burning this project.
There is no slideshow in the project. The Map view shows no slideshow and there are no warning signs in the Map view.
Can anyone suggest a fix?

Thanks for following up on my problem - I'm always grateful for advice even if the immediate problem has been dealt with.
Actually, I never got a 'blank slideshow' appearing in my map, so there was nothing to fix or delete. I just kept getting the error message saying that there was an empty slideshow. Weird! At one point I created a slideshow just so I could delete it, but the message kept appearing.

PSE 6- Error: Could not load style because of a program error.

I have PSE 6 on Vista. My program has always run fine until a few days ago when it started up a small white window pops up with a red X that says Could not load the styles because of a program error. I hit ok and the box keeps coming back. I can't do anyint in PSE and I have to end task to close out of the program. How do I fix this.

Delete MediaDatabase.db3 file from location C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\7.0\Locale\en_US and launch elements again.
This would rebuild the layer styles and all.

PSE 5 Error "could not complete the open command because of a program error"

I have been using PSE 5 for years but all of a sudden when I try to open multiple files "could not complete the open command because of a program error" appears. I have reformatted my computer and reinstalled all programs & updates but still get the error. I am trying to access photo files in a specific, user created, directory on my computer; the funny thing is that if I access files in the My Documents\My pictures\ Sample pictures folder I am able to open all the files. Any and all help or suggestions are welcome. Thanks

When you choose liquify command it says "Could not complete the Liquify command because of a disk error." so nothing at all happens other than the error message
There is plenty of room on my scratch disks --lots of it
Tried using a smaller selection using Marquee Tool to outline a smaller area near where I want to Liquify. makes no difference. tried a small file as well. no ability to use liquify.
This is really weird.
