  • Should I uninstall PSE Ver 9 before installing PSE Ver 12 retail pack?

MY laptop came with PSE Ver 9 preloaded.
I have bought the discs for PSE Ver 12 ( Photoshop and Premier Elements ) In Amazon.
Should I uninstall Version 9 using the Program Features Uninstall routine. BEFORE loading Ver 12?

    THanks Barbara
interested when you say missing features, that can be copied over?
Is  there any Performance degredation associated with leaving a redundant program there.? Ie will the unused program slow down ver 12? Eg will it clog up shared services etc.
or more likely, ( after my nightmare trying to load PSE VER 12,  when it had to be uninstalled - it eventually took one of their top technicians 3.5 hours of manual clean up) is there a bigger risk in uninstalling ver 9.
In light how badly Version 12 uninstalls is this a nightmare too?
my preference is to go for ultimate performance over a few aextra features.
I Got more than I need atm lol!

  • I have purchased PSE ver. 10 over internet. Now, I have a new PC. How do I get the PSE 10 on my new?

I had purchased PSE ver. 10 over internet (no disk). How do I install it on my new PC?

    Hi JerryVila,
You need to deactivate the software first from the old machine if you dont intend to use it on that machine.
To deactivate the software you need to launch the software, goto the 'Help' menu and select 'Deactivate'.
Since this was an online order, you can simply download the software on to your new computer from your Adobe account and use the serial number to activate it.
If this is a retail license then as per the End User License Agreement you can install the software on 2 machines, i.e. you can retain the copy on the old machine as well as install a caopy on the new machine.

  • Program error in PSE ver.5

I'm using version 5 of PSE and recently am finding a program error message when I try to crop and create a photo from the image.
Anyone have any thoughts on this?

    Gary,
Just out of curiosity I looked at my Photoshop CS3 Plugin folder and found two FontAgent plugins: FontAgent Pro.plugin and FontAgent Pro Helper.plugin. As my auto activation works without issue I wondered if you had both plugins installed?

  • PSE ver 4   Thumbnail size in Editor ?

When opening a file and changing the file from "List" to "Thumbnails", the thumbnails are very small - perhaps as small as 60 x 60 and very hard to work with. How can I increase the size of the thumbnails? I cannot find a solution in either Help or in the printed User guide.
    Waiting your replies, thanks,
    Max.

Byron is correct, the File -> Open uses the basic windows open dialog.
If you want to change the size of the thumbnail you need to change a
registry setting. The easiest way to do that is by using the power toy
    called TweakUI - see
    http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx
Download and install TweakUI and then run it. On the left side, expand
the tree for Explorer and select Thumbnails. On the right side, you
can then select the size of the thumbnails in pixels.
Not the this will change the size of the thumbnails when viewing with
windows explorer or nay program that uses the satandard windows open
    dialog.
One little word of caution, TweakUI is a very powerful tool - don't
get carried away with it :-)

  • PSE 8.0 (Mac) Trial Version, no selection for Slideshow.

I select photos in Bridge then click on Create, there appears to be selections for Web Photo Gallery and for PDF Slideshow but no selection for plain ordinary Slideshow. Did Adobe eliminate the plain jane Slideshow from this version?
    Regards,
    Bob

Thanks Barbara, I will go to the Hands On Training Room at the Green Valley Camera Club and use one of the Vista machines to build my lesson plan. Hopefully that version will have a basic Slideshow selection. When I saw the new PSE Version 8.0 for the Mac I thought it would be the one to use to teach the new class next week, so I installed the Trial version.
Our club is very active and has just installed PSE ver 8.0 on all six of the Vista machines and the instructors console. In case you want to have a look at us, our web site is: www.gvcameraclub.org
Our membership oscillates between 1,000 and 1,200 members. Right now we have 120 signed up for our 10-week Photography Basics Course.
Thank you again for your prompt reply,

  • Win 7 x64 & PSE?

My faithful PC chewed up it's system board/processor.  The good news is that the HD seems untouched. My stored pictures are all there!!!  But my system is now Windows 7 X64, It seems clear that my PSE 3.0 is not going to function in a Win 7 environment.  My choices seem to be PSE Vers. 7, 8, or 9. I have stayed with PSE 3 because it perfomed well in manipulating photos and I had not found a task that I could not do using PSE 3.  My limitations, not the programs. So now I am faced with upgrading and the 3 versions I listed seem to be available on the web.  Given what might be a limited task set (If I could do in in PSE 3, I want to do it in the replacment,) are there any advantages to any of versions I have listed?  Will they all run on Windows 7 X64 or what is the first version that does run on a 64 bit system.
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Wait! Don't you have backups??? You are living dangerously, my friend. From this point forward, you need to make regular backups of your photos and catalog file.

They all run on Windows 7 64-bit. I doubt that any of them fail to do things that PSE3 can do.

  • PSE has trouble displaying .jpg or .psd files

I just upgraded from PSE ver 5 to PSE ver 8.  For some reason, ver 8 has some trouble displaying some .jpg and .psd files in the editor.  .nef files (raw) are no problem.  Some of the .jpg/.pse files display as a 'broken file" image, or are blurry if I double click them in editor..  If I right click on the image and go to edit, I am able to edit it and save it, but the resulting saved file may or may not be displayed.  Attempts to add unmanaged files to the catalog have not helped.  Any suggestions?

No, filter uses the jpgs AFAIK. They are in Photoshop too. They are seamless so you could use them as is and define them as patterns; then again you can also use the PSD files to make patterns. The grass jpg is a good one to turn into a pattern.
If you want to use them with the filters that require PSD files just save a copy of each in PSD file format. You might also think about making them black and white so you can tinker with how they will apply the texture. (White is high; black is low; 50% gray is neutral. Colors act as shades of gray so black and white might help you better predict what the result will be.)

  • Grundsätzliche Fotoverwaltung in PSE 3

    Werte Forumleser
    Meine bisherige Ordner Struktur:
    Meine Bilder
    2005
    01 Jänner
    60iger Oma
    02 Feber
    03 März
    etc.

Beim Laden?

Danke.

  • PSE 2/PSA 2 conversion to PSE 5 on new PC

I Just purchased and installed a new PC running MS Windows XP Media Edition. I am in the process of converting applications and data/picture files from my old MS Windows XP Home Edition to the new PC. Both Windows XP operating systems are up to date.
The old PC has PSE 2.0 and PSA 2.0.1 which manages just under 2,000 cataloged and tagged photos. I have not installed PSE or PSA on the new machine. Both PCs have a single hard drive c:.
I just purchased PSE 5, but have not installed it on either PC. What would be the best way to convert and copy My_Catalog with all the photos to PSE 5 on my new PC?
    a) On old PC, Backup My_Catalog to CDs (or flash drive) with PSA 2;
Install PSE 5 on the new PC and restore to c: on new PC
    b) Install PSE 5 on old PC and convert My_Catalog to new Organizer
    (however that might be done);
Backup catalog and photos on old PC with PSE 5 to CDs (or flash drive)
Install PSE 5 on new PC and restore My_Catalog
    c) Some other method?
I searched your Tips, Tools, How-to, and Techniques forum and did not find anything too definitive. I would sincerely appreciate guidance on this conversion before I start.

As no one has posted to this entry, I am thinking about doing the following to convert to PSE 5 and moving to a new PC.
    On my old PC:
    1. With PSA Ver 2, File/Reconnect_All_Missing_Files
    2. With PSA Ver 2, File/Catalog/Recover
    3. With PSA Ver 2, File/Backup the catalog and burn CDs
    4. Install PSE Ver 5. Hopefully, this will convert the PSA 2 catalog to PSE 5 format.
    5. With PSE Ver 5, Backup the catalog to CDs
    On my new PC:
    6. Install PSE Ver 5
    7. With PSE 5, Restore the PSE 5 backup CDs

  • Catalog Won't Sync With iTunes

HP Desktop w Pentium D processor, 4GB RAM, lots of HD space, Photoshop Elements 8, Win 7 (64bit), PNY GeForce 9400GT graphics w/ latest driver.  Everything works if I create a NEW catalog.  But when using my existing catalog (~10,000 photos) I can't sync to my iPhone through iTunes (9).  The Album names show up in iTunes, but they have "0" next to them instead of the actual number of photos.  Otherwise PSE is working flawlessly.  Catalog was originally created in PSE ver 5 and converted by PSE 8.
    TRIED...
Backed up and restored catalog to my laptop (also Win 7 64 bit) and it worked fine.  Backed up working copy from laptop and restored to desktop and still same problem.
Copied the entire working photo folder (including working catalog) from laptop to desktop.  Same problem.
    Optimized/Repaired/Rescan Thumbnails...no change.
Completely uninstalled (including removed any references in the Registry) then reinstalled PSE.  No change.
    Uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes...no change.
Tried to make a new album, shows up in iTunes but still has a "0" for the number of photos
The problem is unique to THAT catalog on THAT computer.
It's very frustrating.  Everything is working but the sync for this particular catalog on this particular machine.  But I don't want to recreate my 10,000 photo catalog.  Anybody have any ideas as to what I can do other than re-tag all those dang photos?  Yes, I can run things on the laptop and quit my whining, but I really want to use my desktop for this.
Thanks a ton for any suggestions
    -Gary

I had the same problem for over a year and accidentaly found the solution last night when updating from PSE7 to PSE9 - I have purchased PSE9 to specifically solve this problem, but once PSE9 installed discovered that the only thing showed in the organiser of PSE9 was what Itune was showing. Figured that it had to be the catalogue. Basically I followed this procedure and since then everything is absolutely fine in both PSE7 and PSE9 thus no need to purchase a newer version to solve the issue, altough, PSE9 seem to be faster.
    Good luck,

  • Help Installing Photoshop 3.0

Thanks for reading this...my (shortened) saga...
I purchased Adobe Photoshop Elements 3.0 and Adobe Premiere Elements as a combined package back in 2005. (Yes, I know I should get newer software, but I am poor like most of the world is at the moment.)
The package comes with 3 discs:
Adobe Premiere elements Disc 1 of 2 (Windows XP)
Adobe Premiere elements Disc 2 of 2 (Windows XP)
Introduction to Photoshop Elements and Introduction to Premiere Elements tutorial videos.
For some reason, I cannot find PHOTOSHOP ELEMENTS to install !!! Premiere Elements installs fine. I feel so stupid...what am I missing?
I recall that at one time I had used Photoshop Elements so I had it installed earlier. I cannot duplicate the installation of PhE.
I have original discs with serial number stickers (so I'm NOT trying to use something I haven't paid for...all is legal on this end). The combined product sticker numer is 90056013. the individual stickers are (PhE) 90053782 and (PrE) 90053783 for verifying this claim.
Can someone help me here? Or is there something I am missg completely? AM I missing an install disc? Is Photoshop Elements PART of Premiere Elements? Am I even asking the right questions? Lol...
    Thanks in advance...
    Dynan3

    Dear Ankush,
Thank you for your reply. Your are correct in your assessment of my situation. At one time I had PRE and PSE installed on my machine. I have since changed operating systems...upgrading every other week as Microsoft comes out with new windows versions ( I jest...but I started with XP home, went to XP Pro, then Vista , and now I have Windows 7.) I haven't tried installing on Win 7 yet, since I never had any luck at the XP Pro stage.
I have the original install disks, but they are PRE/PSE Ver 1.0 (unfortunately ot 3.0, which may be supported). The version doesn't matter as I know it's old. But I cannot for the life of me get PSE back on my machine.
Is it enclosed in the PRE? I remember seeing it as a separate program. But this was some time ago and I have a hard time remembering. I just wanted some idea since this version is apparently no longer supported. I also wanted to know in case I buy the newest version if I would have the same problem...a mysteriously avsent PSE.
Thanks again. I really appreciate your attention and time.
    Sincerely,
    Dan Walters

  • Photos nor recognised in Organiser

I have a problem with PSE Ver 11 operating on Win 7. No matter what I scan from my Epson 3170 Photo into the PSE 11 Organiser I am presented with: NOTHING WAS UPDATED. THE FILE(S) OR FOLDERS(S) SELECTED TO IMPORT DID NOT CONTAIN ANY SUPPORTED FILES TYPES, OR THE FILES ARE ALREADY IN THIS CATALOG. Under this box the reason given is THE FILE ALREADY EXISTS IN THIS CATALOG: C:/USERS/USER/APPDATA/LOCA…4-12-19-1131-04/IMAGE1.TIF.
When I first installed PSE 11 this never happened and I could scan into organiser and then move to the Editor screen. Have downloaded the latest drivers for the scanner...but this has made no difference.  Could anyone please explain what has gone wrong and how to overcome it....hopefully in non-too tech speak way!

The quickest method is to add the photos to an album and then you can drag them into the order you want.

      /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Plug-Ins/Elements 10/File Formats
and drag the Camera Raw.plugin from the universal folder to the File Formats folder
    5. Download and install the 6.7 Dng Converter to get the required camera raw profiles
Adobe - Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter : For Macintosh : Adobe DNG Converter 6.7
