PSE10 editor errormessage
PSE10. Editor work space error message. Could not load The fast core Routine module because it does not work with this version of Photoshop. I believe this may be causing the editor to be unstabe as it is flickering.

How to edit an iPhoto 11 photo in PSE10 editor
When I choose Preferences...Advanced, my only choices to edit a photo are in iPhoto or in Photoshop Elements 10 ORGANIZER. I want to edit the photo in PSE10 EDITOR, but that's not a choice. I don't understand how to change that. Any ideas? Thanks,K
File -> New Smart Album

What happened to PSE10 Editor Files?
I went to fire up my PSE10 Editor today and received and error message to the effect that the files couldn't be found; please reinstall.
Then when I went to start the Organizer, I got the error message that online services could not be initialized...please reinstall. I can click through and get the Organizer to come up, however.
What's happening? Where did the files go? Nothing was done to them via user initiated actions.
I want to make certain that my Organizer data is not lost since I have spent hours tagging my photos and organizing them.
Thank you !
[ Jeff ]Peran:
Thank you for your efforts on my behalf. Actually, this was installed from a retail package on discs. I eventually did speak to Adobe support, but they were not helpful in telling me "what happened," just to reinstall. This makes me a bit nervous since I don't want to lose any of my tags and EXIF data that I have carefully entered over the last few months.
Later today, I might try to reinstall the editor.
The Organizer is now telling me to reinstall because it can't initiate online services, but I am hoping that when I reinstall the Editor, this will address that as well.
I didn't mention that I was working on a Macintosh running OS X 10.6.8
This is somewhat disappoointing since I thought Elements would be a "stable" package. i was using GIMP which met most of my needs, but I thought a commercial package would be a more "stable" choice. I am now having my doubts.
Once again, thank you!

I have a strange problem when using PSE10 Editor. Whenever I left click on any of the options with a dropdown box the screen just jumps and the box briefly shows the options but won't stay open to allow me to choose an option. This has effectively stopped me working as I cannot choose any of these type of options which exist on virtually every tool and has even stopped me saving my edits. On the Save As screen when I click on the format dropdown to save as a jpeg I cannoit select that option - the screen just jumps and won't open the box.
This is a PSE editor problem as it doesn't happen on any other applications with these type of boxes and also these boxes are ok to open in Organiser as well.
Ant Idea anyone - I have googled with no success.I've spent a couple of days on this problem getting nowhere, even after clearing down and doing a fresh clean PSE10 install. I did however find links to a different problem with the same symptoms namely the lasso problem that some users are getting where after holding down the left mouse for a period of time the screen jumps around and shows a message 'filename nn.nn% - not responding'. I get this problem when I click any of the dropdown box option in any tool, the main one being when trying to saving the file after editing.
I have found a fix of sorts by running the PSE10 program in 'Vista Compatability Mode' (I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit) and it seems to be working OK - I have edited 200 photostoday without problem. Reading up a bit more on the lasso problem it seems that it has been there since PSE9 and has still not been fixed by Adobe which is shameful.
This is just an FYI for anyone else that gets this exact or similar problems. -
External Photo Editing from LR4 in PSE10 Editor.exe
I have just upgraded LR3 to LR4 and now find that I cannot use the photo external editing feature (in PSE 10 Editor.exe in my case). All I get is 'Unexpected error performance command:bad argument #1 to 'lower' (string expected, got nil)'. Any ideas as to what the problem is here? This worked OK in LR3.
Fixed problem by downloading Lightroom 4.1 RC.

Is there a known problem with Nik Software Plugins and PSE10
I replaced my PC with a new 64-bit Windows 7 workstation. Have used PSE10 for a while for my cataloging and editing and I did 'trial' individual Nik Software plugins on my old Vista PC for a while. I decided to purchase the Nik Software collection and also to take the plunge and go to Lightroom 4 as well. I put PSE10 on my new PC as well because I want to consider how I might modify my workflow to use both in conjunction (perhaps LR4 for cataloging and PSE10 for editing)
When it came to installing Nik Software Plugins (they are supposed to plugin to Elements and LR4) it seemed to find some of the plugins compatible with both PSE10 and LR4 , some compatible with one of them and some not compatable (apparently) with either, but installed them anyway. But when I use PSE10 now I cannot go from the Organizer into the Editor, it loads the editor interface but not the image. If you open PSE Editor directly and open an image, the image will load and you see 4 of the plugins and I invoke them but the changes dont seem to get applied in PSE10. Then I started reading up on the web ..... and the consensus seems to be it is not a Nik Software issue but an Abobe editor plugin issue.
On a side issue, the retailer I bought Nik Software from sent me no product keys (they sent me Apple Aperture keys) - now they are about to replace my delivery with a fresh issue and proper keys ... but if I run into the same problems again, I dont know what to do. This leads me to looking for some definitive advice from those in the know!
Should I forget about buying Nik Software plugins altogether?
I see a download is available for LR4-2 .. does anyone know if this fixes Nik Plugin issues there?
I am minded to go the route of using LR4 as my cataloging preference but to call PSE10 Editor for editing and have all my plugins operate out of PSE10, but I could not get the plugins to work with PSE10 as mentioned. How does one get them to work?
Is there some workaround or special "way" or "order" to install things ???
I'm still waiting days for some support from Nik Software ... but they are just going to say there is nothing wrong with their product (and the web seems to concur)
Any help would be appreciated on the PSE10 Issue.17/10/2012. I installed the update - Lightroom 4.2
It keeps the same product key and found the catalog and the Windows Control Panel only seems V4.2 so the original has been replaced with this upgrade.
This would be the first time I put down Lightroom with Photoshop Elements V.10 already there on the system and I suspect this might have helped with better integration between the 2 products.
I made sure I then opened Photoshop Elements V10 and I could edit an image (that the Organizer invocation to Photoshop Elements Editor did sucessfully load the image) and I could use existing plugins like Topaz and Noiseware. Also I made sure Lightroom 4.2 could use "Edit with Photoshop Elements " and it did.
The supplier who had sent me the wrong Nik Software product keys, sent me a corrected version with product keys for Lightroom
Several web articles I read on Nik Software plugins may be misleading (for example there is one on DPReview) which state that Nik Software plugins are compatable with Photoshop (the main product) but are NOT compatable with Photoshop Elements v10. I can tell anyone who uses Photoshop Elements 10 that they ARE compatable with Photoshop Elements 10, but it can be a little tricky to get them going.
This is how I sucessfully managed to get the Nik Software Plug-ins
working (finally) on both Lightroom and Photoshop Elements v10 at the same time
Remember my scenario ... I am putting together a new 64 bit Windows 7 PC and I want to be able to continue to use my Photoshop Elements v10 and also to delve into Lightroom for the first time. I had read all the blurb on Nik Software and it said the plugins were compatable with both and I had downloaded and tested some of them on an old PC anyway, so I knew the principle of installation and operation.
I had just bought the Nik SOftware Complete Collection in September 2012.
The box and the CD they come with .... this is where one of the problems is. Let me explain...
Step 1:
=======
Some of the components on the CD are up to date .. and when you elect to install them the sofware tells you that it has found both Lightroom 4.2 and Photoshop Elements V10 and it installs the plugins no problem and they work. Make sure (in these cases) you take their defaults as to the locations the plugins are instlled to. Typically the dual install works for the following components
Nik Color Efex Prov V4
Nik Silver Efex V2
and the plugins go to
for Photoshop Elements v10 C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 10\Plug-Ins\
for Lightroom 4 C:\users\xxxx\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Lightroom\External Editor Presets\
After each of the above 2 installs finished I invoked Photoshop Elements v10 first and opened an image in Editor and made sure the plugin was working and inserted my product key and activated it over the web. I then made sure it was also working in Lightroom 4.2 - it was!
Step 2:
=======
When it came to installing the Sharpener 3 component off the vendor's CD, it displayed NEITHER of the two applications on its compatability list at all. And there was no "+" sign where one can add one manually. Furthermore if you continue with setup.exe it crashes. I closed the EXE and confirmed there was no plugin in Photoshop Elements v10 as expected for Sharpener.
But when I went into Lightroom 4.2 it shows me the 2 Sharpener entities (the RAW and Output one). And I used it and proved the plugins were working through Lightroom 4.2 and I inserted my product key for it when invoking it for the first time via Lightroom 4.2 as well.
Then I went onto the Nik Software download site and downloaded a more updated version which was Sharpener Version 3.01. When I ran the installer from this download it actually does see and show both Photoshop Elements v10 and Lightroom 4.2 as "compatable" and it installed the plugins from that .. and they both work ... even though I had it working already (seemingly) from the CD install I obviously installed over it and the plugin still works in Lightroom 4.2. It also works now in Photoshop Elements v10. Only issue I had here was I had to re-insert my product key and activate it when I used the plugin via Photoshop Elements v10 for the first time... but if that is the extent of a techincal difficulty - I would take it anytime!.
Step 3:
=======
When it came to installing Viveza 2 off the CD, it only saw Lightroom 4.2 as compatable. I did something similar in this case. I let it install to Lightroom 4.2 as a plugin and proved it worked and activated its produvt key. Then I downloaded V2.009 off the website. I re-installed from it (over the Lightroom 4.2 one obvously again) and it now also sees Photoshop Elements 10 as compatable and installs correctly. Strangely enough I did not have to enter my product key a second time when I went to invoke the plugins via Photoshop Elements v10 in this case. What the hell! - the subtleties of software!
Step 4:
=======
Dfine 2.0 - the setup for the CD again finds NEITHER of the 2 applications on its compatablity list, but it put it into Lightroom 4.2 anyway (like the Sharpener component behaved) and I proved it worked. Then I downloaded version 2.112 from the Nik Software website and it finds both applications compatable. Also I did have to re-enter my product key when first invoking the plugin via the Photoshop Elements v10 editor (like as in the case of Sharpener)
Step 5:
=======
HDR Efex Pro (which comes on the vendors CD with a promise to a free upgrade to HDR Efex Pro 2) .... the setup.exe sees Lightroom 4.2 as compatable but does not see Photoshop Elements v10. Be careful ... this component is NOT A PLUGIN ... to see and use it in Lightroom 4 you must select photos and then do menu option EXPORT WITH PRESET HDR EFEX PRO. It does not work as a plugin within Photoshop Elements (any version) . I obtained my free upgrade too and it works from Lightroom. Dont even try to configure it manually as a plugin for Elements. Instead if you save files as JPG or TIFF you can open the EXE directly in the Program Files area (if you have 64 bit make sure to open that EXE not the 32 bit one) and you can use it in standalone mode. There is only one menu option within HDr Efex Pro when using it this way ... File-Open.
So to conclude ... (leaving HDR Efex aside because we know it will not plugin to Elements) ... I have them all working in both Lightroom and Elements. As I begin to learn Lightroom and move away from Elements for cataloging and edits, I know I can invoke most of my workflow plugins from both products. People say I should persist in Lightroom, but if for some reason I dont, I have the fall back position of having everything working out of Elements 10 anyway. It's been a bit of chore getting to this point, but others might find my workaround useful. -
Can PSE10 be configured to launch LightRoom instead of Organizer?
Is there a configuration option or other method to change the behavior of PSE10\PRE10 when clicking on "Organizer" to have it launch Lightroom instead? I have moved over to Lightroom but am in the habit of clicking on Organizer
Thanks,
Joe..The usual method is to set up the PSE10 Editor under the Lightroom External handling tab (Edit à Preferences)
You can then select an image in the Lightroom Library and send it directly with the Lightroom Develop settings into the PSE Editor for further editing e.g. using layers etc which Lightroom doesn’t have. The sequence is normally:
1) Ctrl+E in the Lightroom Library
2) Edit in Elements; then Ctrl+S to overwrite Lightroom export copy
3) Ctrl+W to close in Elements and update Lightroom thumbnail.

Purchasing PSE11 Editor on the Mac App Store
Hi everyone,
I just saw that PSE11 isn't available on the Mac App Store. As the PSE10 Editor is available for a while, I hope that PSE11 Editor will be released shortly on this store...
Do you have any information about an availability date on the Mac App Store ?
Thanks,
Arnaud.Hi,
Adobe Photoshop Elements Editor is now available on Mac App Store to download. It is Editor only and does not have Organizer similar to PSE 10 Editor on Mac App Store.
Some key points are here - http://blogs.adobe.com/pselements/adobe-photoshop-elements-11-editor-available-on-mac-app- store/
Thanks,

PSE10- Possible to multi-crop images from scanner?
I'm taking the task of digitizing hundreds of old photos. Currently, using my flatbed scanner, I scan 4 pics at a time. Then I use PSE10 Editor's tool of "Divide Scanned Photo" to split the pictures into 4 different files. However, sometimes this tools doesn't recognize all 4 pics correctly and I have to crop manually. This can be tedious to crop, save, open the old file again, crop, save....and do this 4 times. Is there a way to select multiple crop images from a file and export each to a new file?
Any advice is appreciated on my tedious task.Thanks Barbara. I have a really old flatbed HP scanner and am using regular Windows fax & scan to capture the images. It's my understanding that newer HP scanners come with this type of software. Didn't really want to invest in a new scanner. I've tried a few trials of scanning software, but found PSE10 actually does a better job than them in it's dividing scanner pics. I'll just deal with the ones that it can't handle manually. Maybe we'll see a feature where we can crop and export multiple parts of a file in a future release.

Why can't i save an edited .raw file as a .jpg
I am using PSE 10 and with other catalogs i had no problem of editing my .raw files (6.7version) and then opening them and after further editing doing a "save as" and saving it as a .jpg file in a version set.
now I am working with another set of picture files and when i try to save the final edited it suggests:
ed-1.psd and the drop down menue also lists: psd, pdd, pse, .raw, png and TIFF.(there are no layers in the file)
search of FAQ was unsuccessful. I have avague recollection of having this similar problem years ago with other earlier versions of PSE but can't remember the solution. This is my first instance of this problem. Other info that may help is i believe this is a "converted catalog" from PSE 8. I am running on WIN 7 Prof, 64 bit
Appreciate any help
Dan Y
I went back to a previous different catalog>same computer, same PSE10 and selected a previous version set consisting of the original >raw file and the saved edited file ed-1.jpg and selected the original .raw file, opened full edit, it opens in ARW 6.7 as before, then opened the file in the PSE10 editor and tried to save as a .jpg ( which i obviously did in the last few days at most)(no changes made to computer or programs) and it WOULD NOT OPEN AS A .jpg AS DESCRIBED ABOVE.
HOPE THIS HELPSYou are possibly working with a 16 bit image. Before clicking the Open Image button in the camera raw dialog change the drop down to 8 bit and you should then be able to save as jpeg.

I cannot access help. I have Adobe Elements 7 and each time I try to use help I get the message "The requested help topic could not be found, Reinstall to fix the problem. I have reinstalled and still get the same message.
How do I resolve this?When you press F1 function key what do you get?
The pdf file for PSE10 Editor is here to download:
<http://help.adobe.com/en_US/PhotoshopElements/10.0/Using/index.html>
Or right-click on this link:

PSE7 is very old for my machine to have it so can't help you there.
Good luck. -
I am exploring the wonderful world of RAW photography processing. I have come across an issue that I cannot find an answer to. After doing all the image adjustments, how do I save it as a jpg file? The only option I see is to save it as a dng file or to open it in PSE10 editor. But then what? I have tried to "safe as" from Editor but it does not give me a jpg option.
Thanks to each of you for your comments.
juergen, I had noticed that setting but did not know I needed to change it. Thanks.
photodrawken, I need jpg because I am a member of several sites that specifically call for jpg images. I also share my pictures with extended family who cannot use RAW or PSE files. They could use png files but they would face the same issue when they go to upload them. They do not have software to change them to jpg.
dj, I have enough memory (for now at least) that I can save both. I will not be changing all of them but when I need, it is good to know how to do it.
Again, thank you,
Jim -
PSE 10 will not open the picture when coming from "edit in" in LR4.
Just installed LR4, when choosing "edit in" PSE, the Elements program opens, but the picture does not display. Is anyone else having this problem, or know what I need to do to fix this?
ThanksMake sure you are linking in LR Preferences to PhotoshopElementsEditor in Support Files and not an alias.
In Finder hold down Opn (alt) and click Go to reveal the Library.
The other thing to check is your camera raw plug-in which I think needs to be version 6.7 to be compatible with LR4.
Launch the PSE10 Editor and on the menu click:
Help >> Updates
Install ACR 6.7 if available. -
Elements 10 Organizer is not installed [SOLUTION]
Hello,
after spending hours of investigation, here is my solution. I decided to write it down. Maybe it is of help for someone else.
Symptom:
Suddenly, when I wanted to use PSE10 and clicked the desktop icon, I got the error message that the EXE file "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Elements 10 Organizer\Photoshop Elements 10.0.exe"
is not there anymore. I have not figured out why it was gone though. Maybe some magic MSI rollback script stuff from another installation.
I tried a normal deinstallation/installation procedure.
After looking into "C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Temp\PSE10Setup.log", I found out that the system thinks that the organizer seems to be installed, but it was not.
The required file were not in place.
So I tried to force the manual installation of organizer MSI package.
msiexec /i "E:\Adobe Photoshop Elements 10\ElementsOrganizer\Elements 10 Organizer.msi" TRANSFORMS=1031.mst ELEMENTS_DE_DE=1 ORGANIZER_DE_DE=1 STARTWATCHSERVICE=1 SUPPRESSREBOOT=0 NOT_STANDALONE=1 /l*v "C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Temp\OrganizerInstall.log"
This worked for me. All the required files are in place now as they should and PSE10 starts as usual again.
BTW:
The PSE10 Editor always worked without any problems. Only the organizer was gone. Installing PremiereElements10 also did not help, although it is also supposed to install the organizer.
This is my second big issue with the Adobe Elements Software Package. I have never experienced so much trouble with software installation as with this piece of software.
I suggest that the developers should test there software a lot more with respect to installation/reinstallation and uninstallation.
To the support team: please do not write answers like: please reinstall the software or the Windows OS or ... or..... or.....Am 03.10.2012 15:28, schrieb thelakergreat1:
