PSE12 Destroys Create Date of JPG when editing occurs.  Is this a desirable feature?

It appears as thought PSE has been destroying the file create date whenever a save/replace occurs since PSE8.  Is this a desirable feature or should PSE be revised to preserve the create date in the JPG?

Lightroom does not support comments (except for some web publishing services...).
I wrote CustomMetadata to fill this void, but I'm sure John Beardy would want you to know about Big Note too.
Or you can just bastardize some obscure IPTC field if you prefer...

  • Created date for JPGs used in FCE - how to view and sort by

In FCE I need to view and sort by the date created not date modified on JPG images. How do I do that?

Why would the developers prevent users from using information about when they TOOK the pictures rather than when they edited them? Seems like a real deficiency in the program to me.
I make movies using 100s of images from a variety of photographers and put them in chronological order. Having to go to Finder on every one is impractical.

  • How do I stop Elements 11 Organiser assuming JPG when editing using PS CS6

    Hi,
I love the Elements 11 organiser but prefer to edit using PS CS6.
However, everytime I edit using PS CS6, the Elements organiser creates a JPG file.
If I save this as a PSD file, I have to manually trick Elements organiser into reconnecting to the PSD file by deleting the JPG from windows explorer and then manuall reconnecting the JPG to the PSD instead.
This is also the case if I want to just go straight into OnOne Perfect Photo Suite by setting it up as an external editing program.
Is there a way to change Elements organisers behaviour?
    Thanks
    Darren

I don't even need to do this as when you make changes and go to save, PS CS6 asks you to save and selects PSD by default (which I use).
The problem is the cleanup. The watch folder option will pick up the new photo but it does not associate it with the original as a version set so your window ends up getting cluttered. Also, subsequent edits generate a new file (e.g. photo-edited-2.psd) which is not nescessary when using PSDs due to the ability to turn layers on and off etc.
I am investigating Lightroom 4 and its organisational abilities and integration with PS CS6 and other plugins.
    Thanks

  • Lightroom does not create a background layer when editing in Photoshop - on Mac.

Thought this was a Photoshop problem.  When I select a portion of an image in Photoshop (which has come from Lightroom) and press Delete, it no longer brings up the Fill dialog; it just deletes the pixels.
After some discussion on the Photoshop forum, I see that now, when I tell Lightroom "Edit in Photoshop", it creates a file which does not have a Background layer, and this causes the Delete key to act differently.  This was not the case several weeks ago, but has just started to happen.  Is there any adjustment I can make to the "Edit In" settings to get a Background layer in Photoshop?
    JK

You must have changed a setting in Photoshop because  Lr has no influence on how Photoshop treats the background layer.
There is nothing you can do in Lr to change this behavior of Photoshop.
What happens in Photoshop is this: For some reason the image is opened with transparent background.Such an image does not have a background layer and the layer at the bottom does not have the constraints of a regular background layer.
I am not aware of any command or script in Photoshop that would automatically do this on opening a file.
Try this: Reset your Workspace (>Window >Workspace). If that doesn't help I'd suggest to ask on the Photoshop forum why your Photoshop opens an image with transparent background.
You could also try to re-install Photoshop, supposedly this would reset any hidden settings that are causing this.

  • Copy to Mac file Created Date uses iPhoto Modified not Original Date

When a photo is edited in iPhoto the 'Extended Photo Info' 'Modified' date field is changed to the now() date and time but the 'Original' date iPhoto remains the same.
Then when a copy is made of a photo in iPhoto and then 'Paste Item(s)' is made to the Mac desktop all the files dates default to the iPhoto 'Modified' date not the iPhoto 'Original Date'. Then if a sort by the 'Original Date' on the Mac is desired it will not happen unless the Created date file settings is changed for each photo copied to the Mac Desktop.
How can photos in iPhoto be copied to the Mac Desktop with the 'Original Date' used in the Mac file 'Created' date field?

when a copy is made of a photo in iPhoto and then 'Paste Item(s)' is made to the Mac desktop all the files dates default to the iPhoto 'Modified' date not the iPhoto 'Original Date'
Where are you seeing this date?  In the Info window for the file with the Finder?  That's to be expected because those dates are the file dates, not the EXIF photo created and modified dates which can't be view by the Finder.  You will need to use a 3rd party EXIF view like  EXIF Viewer for Mac OS X .
So don't confuse the EXIF date(s) with the file dates.

  • Photoshop CC on Windows 7 is saving the file "date" as the created date not the modified date

I have been using a much older version of PS (CS2) and just decided to update to PS CC. I have installed the trial version of PS CC and will begin the CC subscription as soon as the trial expires.
I have noticed that PS CC saves the (main) date of the files as the "created date" not the "modified date" as it pertains to Windows Explorer and the Windows OS.
Here is what is happening: I have a file that I created in 2007 that I use for a template. It is sized to specific dimensions, etc. and when I do my save as, it automatically saves into the desired file folder, so that's why I use this as a template. I setup a new photo and then drag and drop it into my template, flatten the image and save as. When doing this with PS CS2, the date for the newly saved file was assigned as the modified date (current date and time). So, when I searched for the file in Windows Explorer or when I went to open the file, the date shown for the file was the modified date. NOW, with PS CC when I perform the exact same process and do a save as, the file date shown in Windows Explorer and/or when I go to open the file is showing as the created date (3/9/2007), the date that I created and saved the template I use. This is aggravating to me because now when I want to open a file and sort by date, the date shown in Windows Explorer is not accurate. As far as I can tell, this only happens in PS CC. When I open an old file with ID CC and do a save as, it applies the current date, not the created date. And, when I was using PS CS2, whenever I did a save as the current date was applied as well.
In summary, when performing a save as, the created date is being applied as the main date instead of the modified date. The question is: Is there a way to change this so that the modified date can be applied as the main date for the file when performing a save as?

Below are two files created the exact same way on the exact same computer: the top one was saved in PS CS2 and the bottom one was saved in PS CC. Both were saved using the "Save As" command. You will notice that when the "Save As" command was used in CS2 it updated the "Created:" date, however, in the CC version the "Created:" date was not updated, only the "Modified:" date was updated. Is there a way to update the "Created:" date when performing a "Save As" in PS CC?

  • Arrang items in a region order by create date

    Hello,
    I'm using Portal 9.0.2.3
I want to arrange my items order by the created date (desc) because actually the order seems to be asc.
In the region properties I don't find the options to make this. The availaible options are " default, size, title" (what is the default setting ?)
    any solution ?
    Estelle

    Estelle -
When you have sort order set to "Default" you will see that you have "Arrange Items" icon for the region that you do not have when you set the sort order to something else. This allows you to manually put the items in the order you desire. The order that you manually specify is the order used when the region setting sort order is Default.
The custom search portlet (you will most likely want to set to automatically display the search results) I believe allows you to sort the search results by Create Date. I did not have a 9.0.2.3 version - it definitely allows create date sort in V.9026. Using this you can show the items in the search portlet on your page instead of directly placed on the page.
    Hope this helps,
    Candace

  • Exporting Created Date in iPhoto

I need to export photos from iPhoto and I need to preserve the metadata - particularly the date/time the photo was taken.  If I right click on the photo in iPhoto and click "Get Info", it shows the proper created date/time so I know iPhoto has it.
However, when I export the photos, it has the created date set to today.  If I drag the photos from iPhoto to a folder in Finder, it has the created date set to the last modified date.
How can I properly export photos with the created date/time preserved?

    Susan Woodrum wrote:
This didn't work for me.  I'm using iPhoto '11, with OS 10.7.5 Lion.  When I export a photo from iPhoto to my desktop, then open it in Preview and go to the Inspector, the Created Date and the Modified Date are both today, not the date in Dec. 2008 when the photo was taken.
This is a pretty big issue.  Why does this happen?
Probably you are looking at the file metadata in the inspector not the photo EXIF metadata as TD's example shows

  • Migrate from File Server Shared Drives to Document Libraries, while Keeping Modified and Created Date

I am doing some file migration for a client, using SharePoint 2013 on prem.
Whether copying files from a local or network drive, to a Document Library, or from Document Library to other Document Library, I want the option of
preserving file dates and created/modified by fields.
I am developing a pretty cool tool in Excel to analyze files and directory names for restricted characters, large file sizes, and long path names...and then
it generates copy commands or rename commands as desired. I will share this with you if you like. This little glitch is the last remaining barrier.
Can we copy and retain Modified/Created Data and time? Can I do this using xcopy or robocopy or do I need to use powershell, ShareGate, or some other tool?
I have tried Windows Explorer drag-n-drop, "robocopy /COPY:DAT" and "xcopy /k"
and these seem to work great in th CMD window until you display the resulting files in SharePoint...and the modified date shows as now and modified by
    shows as me.
Any suggestions you can provide are most welcome.

  • ColdFusion Builder - Slow when editing code

I have seen this many times on other forums, but haven't found any working solutions - my installation of the standalone Coldfusion Builder 1.0.0.25339 is nearly always very very slow when editing code (wehether this is cfm or css) i'm assuming the code hinting it somewhat to blame, but don't want to turn it off.
    Any help/solutions welcomed.

The current state of the product is that it's rife with performance problems.
Hopefully they'll be fixed in the next release.
What you're seeing is just how it currently works (ie: slowly).

  • Version Set is not created when editing with Photoshop CS4?

Last week I was working in PSE7 and opening files into PS CS4 for editing. I open the files by clicking the Open with link and choose Photoshop. I edited several dozen photos and when I closed them from PS CS4 Version Sets were created in PSE7 like they should be. At some point that stopped happening. Now when I do as before and open the files into PS CS4, edit them, and then close them the Version Set is not being created in PSE7. I look in the folder containing the files and the file has a new modified date but it still has the same file name instead of being saved with the - edited name as before. Does anyone know why the version sets are no longer being created when editing with PS CS4? I can edit the files with the PSE7 editor and the version sets are created as they should be. Thanks!

Okay so tha there is no misunderstanding here is exactly what I'm doing. From the PSE7 Organizer I select a photo (file name Tetons & Jenny Lake 026.jpg) and click the Fix tab. I then click More Options and select Photoshop. The photo opens in into PS CS4. I make my edits click the x on the tab to close the image and I'm asked "Save changes to the Adobe Photoshop document "Tetons & Jenny Lake 026_edited-1.jpg" before closing?" I click Yes then click OK to save the image at maximum quality. I go back to the PSE 7 Organizer and there is no version set. I check the folder the original image was in and see the original file Tetons & Jenny Lake 026.jpg with a new modified date and time. I can even choose Save As from PS CS4 and it asks me if I want to overwrite Tetons & Jenny Lake 026_edited-1.jpg and I select Yes, but I get the exact same results. Thanks!

  • Buffering table not up to date error message when creating a Cart

    Hi Folks,
We are getting a 'Buffering table not up to date' error message when attempting to create a Cart. The error message only happens to the one end user ID only with the others not getting this error, therefore suggesting that my SRM org plan set-up is correct.
Has anyone come across this previously and what checks are available in the system to resolve this? As mentioned, the attribute check is okay and I have also removed the user ID from the SRM org plan and reassigned again but this has not corrected the problem. We are on SRM 5.
    Thanks. Mike.

  • HR_INFOTYPE_OPERATION not working when editing HR master data

    Hi all,
I search for similar problem but couldn't find any.
I am using HR_INFOTYPE_OPERATION to insert record to an infotype. I proceed with standard way (ENQUEUE employee, call above fm, DEQUEUE employee). It works fine when running as executable program.
Now I want this functionality when editing EE's master data (i.e. modifiying one infotype record). For this I put the same code to some user exit. Now when executed I can proceed with creating new entry, it saves I can see how data are updated in pa30 for this EE. But when I reenter his master data are without this new record anymore.
Does anyone faced similar issue? I guess it is not allowed to use that fm when editing master data, but can't find a answer if this is the issue.
I did also a test creating this new entry for some different EE, but it neither worked.
    Any info appreciated.

  • When batch-resizing files original date is replaced by a new 'created date'

    Hi,
My camera takes all of its photos at quite a high resolution, with most pictures taking up 2mb of space each. Having about 5000-6000 pictures has taken up quite a lot of my memory. I now want to try and convert all of these pictures so that they are slightly smaller in size (maybe 1mb - so that I can still print them if necessary). I have managed to do this using Automator, but unfortunately all the files have a new 'created date'. Is there a way that I can convert all of these photos, but leave the date they were taken, so that when I import them into iPhoto they remain in the correct order.
On another note. My iPhoto has been running quite slowly -

    Matt
Having 6,000 2 mb files uses no memory whatever, but does take up storage space.
iPhoto does not take into account the notion that users will want to downgrade their photo collections, in fact it preserves the Original File at pretty much all costs. So the only way to do what you're trying to do is to select the pics in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. In the resulting window you will have the option to resize the pics. Then complete the export to a folder on the desktop.
Then trash the photos from iPhoto. (Put them in the iPhoto trash, and empty it.)
Then import the downgraded pics from the desktop.
Remember that doing this will cost you the ability to revert to original versions of edited pics, and that further editing will result in significantly reduced quality.
A better option might be to purchase a frewire ot usb2 drive and run your iPhoto library from there.
    1. Quit iPhoto
    2. Copy the iPhoto Library Folder as an entity from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
    3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
    4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.
