  • Enormous frustration over Boot Camp installation of Win 7 64bit

    Please help, I am totally frustrated after days and days of trying to install windows 7 on my iMac 11,2  (21.5”, i3, mid 2010).
    So, my super drive is dead and currently I don’t have an option to replace it. I recently upgraded my OS to 10.8.3. Because my iMac is having an optical drive, in Boot Camp Assistant there was a grayed out option to create bootable USB drive. I edited info.plist file, so I finally got that option right, but no metter what, I can’t boot Windows 7 64bit installation. I’ve tried numerous ways to do that. I tried standard create USB in Boot Camp assistant, I’ve tried Windows download DVD/USB tool, I’ve tried Rufus, BootInIc, I’ve tried more than 10 different Kingston/Verbatim/No name/Corsair/Patriot USB sticks, I’ve tried several WD/Toshiba/Transcend/Silicon Power external drives formatted both fat32 and NTFS (when formatting external drive in fat32, I was reducing the external drive’s size with diskpart/create partition primary commands in windows. EVERY SINGLE TIME after partitioning the hard drive in Boot Camp Assistant, my computer restarts and there was a “No bootable device” screen. I’ve than tried Refit, there I get an option to boot from external drives/usb sticks, but than after clicking on a boot windows from USB I also get the “no bootable device” screen. I’ve tried naming sticks different (because some people are saying that it must be named WININSTALL, but without any success)
    Thank you very very much in advance, currently I don’t know what to do next.

    If your iMac came with an internal optical drive you can not use the USB port to install Windows. Get the optical drive fixed.

  • How can I authorize my new computer (win7 prof 64bit) on ADE 3.0 (previous Win XP; ADE 2.0)?

    how can I authorize my new computer (win7 prof 64bit) on ADE 3.0 (previous Win XP; ADE 2.0)?

    Two things worth trying ..
    ~~~~~~~~~~~
    ~~~~~
    Sometimes ADE gets its registration/activation confused and in a semi-authorized state.
    Uninstalling and reinstalling does not help.
    Unfortunately, it often then gives misleading error messages about what is wrong.
    A common incorrect message informs you that the ID is already in use on another computer and cannot be reused.
    This can often be resolved by completely removing any authorization using ctrl-shift-D to the Library screen on ADE (cmd-shift-D if on Mac).
    Restart ADE, and then reauthorize with your (old) Adobe ID.
    In extreme cases on the mac, the following extra step has helped some people.  Navigate to /Users//Library/Application Support/Adobe/Digital Editions and drag the activation.dat file to the trash. If you are using 10.7, see Access hidden user library files | Mac OS 10.7 Lion. http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1265248?tstart=0
    ~~~~~~~~~~
    There are lots of bugs in ADE2.0.  Try replacing ADE2.0 with the older but more reliable v1.7.2.
    (You can have them both installed at once if you like.)
    Version 1.7.2, it is a little difficult to find, available on Adobe site for Windows and for Mac.
  • SC5.03 wird unter Win.7  64 Bit Professional nur als Vista Tauglich eingestellt.
    Warum wird mein CS5.03 unter Windows 7  64Bit Professional , nur als Vista Tauglich eingestuft  ?
    INFO dazu:
    ich habe auch eine MXO2 mini_MAX Box.
    Mit dieser  installation der beiden Teile ( absolut nach Vorschrift installiert) konnte ich mein, mit CS5.03 erstelltes Projekt, welches noch mit der mXO2 mini unterstützt wurde, nicht mehr starten.
    Nur im Modus Vista.
    Windos sagt, dass CS5.03 sei zu Win7 inkompatiebel. Was auch immer das bedeutet.
    Ich kann nun CS5 nicht neu installieren denn, dann muss ich auch die Matrox Box neu installieren.
    Dazu wiederum müßte ich alles Deinstallieren, was nie sauber klappt, da die Programme nie sauber deinstalliert werden.
    Dazu sind die Deinstallerprogramme zu schlecht programmiert.
    Das sei aber Pflicht schreiben die Programmhersteller vor. Adobe wie auch Matrox-Hmmmm.
    So gesehen ist es eigentlich unmöglich, diese beiden Produkte sauber installiert zu bekommen.
    Da ich nie weiß wer Schuld ist. Win 7? CS5.03 oder Matrox. ODER ALLE RESTE. Nicht alles darf man in der Regedit löschen!.
    Wer kann mir dazu einen Rat geben?
    Ein Testprogramm von Adobe  ist schon abgesendet worden. Das besagt ,ich solle mich an den Support wenden. Nur, da komme ich irgendwie nicht hin.
    Antwort dazu  ist noch nicht da. Token :
    Dieses gehört zu Matrox für Premiere Oder nicht?.
    Das mvePremiereModules.dll Version 1.0.0.1977 ist untauglich,  - Fehlerhafe Anwendung -  steht in den Protokollen vom Eventmanagers.
    Bei der Firma aber, bekomme ich garkeine Hilfen. Frage ist- Kann CS5 denn eigentlich korekt  mit der Box arbeiten?
    ODER:
    Muss ich dazu die Version CS6 installieren?
    Ich habe mir die CS5.5 und die 6 gekauft. Weiß aber nicht, ob ich damit mein altes CS5.03 Projekt starten kann.
    SO,-  das sind nun viele Fragen, ich hoffe sehr auf Hilfe und Erfahrungstips. Vielen Dank sagt Euch schon mal Roselle2
  • Firefox 24.0 will not start in Win 7 64bit environment on Dell N5010 i3 Inspiron after upgrade/fresh instal
    My Computer Notebook is a Dell N5010 Inspiron with an i3 processor running a Win 7 64bit OS. Firefox has always run smoothly on it. I could not exactly determine when it started failing to open after each attempt to start but I think it was when I accepted the offer to upgrade to Firefox 24.0. I have since then upgraded at least 5 times without any change in performance. From another customer experience in the Support website I downloaded the Setup file and tried fresh installation with the same result. What I have not tried is removal of the Profile because I do not know how to replace the Profile file.
  • Laserjet 1320 on win 7 (64bit) - cannot access from a networked XP Pro machine?
    I have a Laserjet 1320 and a Officejet 6450 attached to a win 7 (64bit) machine - both work fine.
    Have a home workgroup network established with an XP pro machine.  Both printers are "shared" etc..
    I can access the Offiejet from the XP machine, but cannot get access to the Laserjet.  Claims that
    the proper Driver cannot be located.  Have downloaded the PCl5 driver to the Win 7 machine, but when
    I point the XP machine to the HP PCL5 Driver folder on the win 7 machine it still cannot find the proper driver.
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Hi Don
    Thanks for the reply.
    The version of Visual Studio being used is 2002 (getting on a bit now).
    We had a play about with the way we installed the MSI installer we had created that installs the Crystal Reports runtimes (merge modules) and managed to get it to work on both Windows 7 32bit and 64bit.
    The solution was a weird one, but seemed to work (but was different to what I had done before to get it to work).  We made sure the MSI was local on the PC and right-clicked the MSI and selected the ''Troubleshoot Compatibility' ' option.  Not 100% why this would work, but it seems to have done the trick.
    Many thanks for your help.
    David.
  • Problems with downgrade from Win 8.1 to Win 7 64bit on Satellite S70-A-11H
    Hi,
    My daughter already has a Tosh laptop with Win 7 64bit which is several years old and has seen better days, so for Christmas I bought her a new S70-A-11H notebook with Win 8.1 pre-installed.
    She hates it. In fact she will not use the new laptop at all unless it has Win 7 on it.
    For people that do not use a tablet or a Windows phone and like a desktop feeling machine Windows 8 does not work for us.
    Now I work in a niche IT role using numerous OS such as Microsoft Windows (XP, Win7, Server 2003, Server 2008) and Solaris as well as a bit of RedHat.
    Now my Win8 experience is zero.
    I thought it would be simple enough to install a retail copy of Win7 with SP1 64bit onto this notebook.
    Not so easy as it turns out.
    When I boot from the Win 7 install DVD the installer program locks up as the Win 7 logo starts to appear on the screen. If I try an install in safe mode the last driver that appears to load when the lock up occurs is disk.sys.
    So the question is how can I install Win 7 64bit SP1 onto this notebook using a retail copy of Win7?
    Any ideas would be much appreciated.
    *I found the reason for this problem* and the solution outside of this forum.
    If anyone else is interested _the issue is cause by the use of GPT partions on the 8.1 build._
    To overcome this and install a fresh copy of Win7 you can do this:
    -Shut down Windows 8 while pressing the Shift key to completely power off.
    -Power on and press F2 while the Toshiba logo is displayed to enter the UEFI Setup Menu.
    -Go to the Security tab and set the "Secure Boot" setting to "Disabled".
    -Go to the Advanced tab, enter "System Configuration" and set the Boot Mode to "CSM Boot."
    -Press F10 to save and exit.
    Go to http://gparted.sourceforge.net/ and download gparted boot image. Make bootable gparted cd and use it to delete the GPT partitions on the HDD.
    Now just install Win7 64bit as you normally would creating whatever partitions you like during the install process. Of course you must have a new licence key for Win7 for this to work.
    To finish off you will need to download all the required drivers from the Toshiba website to suit Win7 64bit. This is quite tedious as some of the files are huge. I got just the basics that I thought I'd need and that ended up being over 1Gb of files.
    I'm so pleased I managed to get rid of that nasty Win8 interface.
    This is probably not the only way to do this, but this worked for me.
  • Help file for CS5 not available on Win 7 64bit
    Hi,
    I try to display the help file from within PS CS5 and that is not working. I can neither watch the community help online nor download it for offline use since the app seems unable to connect to a working online source.
    It shows "The requested URL /de_DE/Photoshop/cs/using/AH_HOME.html was not found on this server."
    All apss have been updated to the newest release, everything else is working fine.
    I use Win 7 64bit German, PS is also installed in German.
    Any ideas?
    Using a browser the help content is reached via URL http://help.adobe.com/de_DE/photoshop/cs/using/index.html
    Maybe the software is looking for AH_HOME.html in error instead of index.html.
    Nachricht geändert durch Beholder003
    Hallo Beholder (und hfuhr)
    (wir sprechen ja alle deutsch ... ;-)
    Das hatte hfuhr weiter oben wohl nicht gelesen, dass der Aufruf der Online-Hilfe wie beschrieben ja funktioniert. Vor irgendeinem Update (oder nach Grundinstallation?) muss der download mal gegangen sein, denn ich hatte einen Teil der Photoshop Hilfe offline. Bei meinen Experimenten habe ich diese gelöscht (weil nicht aktualisierbar) und der Download steht eben wie beschrieben für Photoshop nicht mehr zur Verfügung. Ich habe nun beschlossen, "not to waste my time". Da ich, wenn ich die Hilfe gelegentlich brauche, an einem Arbeitsplatz sitze, wo ich ebenso das Internet brauche (und entsprechend habe), ist die Online-Hilfe auch verfügbar (und dafür wird mein Rechner nicht zugemüllt ;-).Ok, dem gegenüber steht vielleicht der (dein?) Wunsch, nicht immer online zu sein und dennoch die Hilfe verfügbar zu haben, aber was hilft's, wenn wir nicht wissen wie es zu lösen ist :-(
    Wenn Adobe dazu nichts einfällt oder keinen Kommentar abgibt, lasse ich es dabei bewenden. Es würde für mich so aussehen, dass dieser Download von Adobe derzeit nicht zur Verfügung gestellt wird bzw. die Funktionalität der Online-Hilfeseite "gestört" oder nicht gewünscht oder sonstwas ist?!
    Grüße
  • Failed to install Cisco VPN client 5.0.07.0440 on win 7 64bit [Error 1722]
    Hi Gurus,when I tried to install Cisco VPN Client 5.0.07.0440 on Win 7 64bit, the system would pop up an Error 1722( Error 1722. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.) at the last stage of copying files. Then it would roll back .
    I had tried to clean the temp files, restart windows installer services, and also re-register the MSIEXEC file. However, it would still pop up the error during the installation. For our company, it is a common issue. So, could you please offer me some advice on this?
    Thank you for your reply.
    I had checked the software again and found out.
    1. The MSI installer package is fine, because I can install the software on another PC.
    2. It is not like that, because I can start the installation procedure and run it smoothly until on the 88% of copying files.
    For now, I had only found this issue on one PC.
    Thanks.
  • After Effects CS4 install on Win XP 64bit OS
    I am trying to install the After Effects CS4 trial unto a Win XP 64bit OS.  There was only one trial download available and figure that if there is a 64-bit trial versions, it would be packaged with this also.
    The installer designates installation location as "C:/Program/Adobe" which is correct as this is the 64bit program folder location.  However, it actually drops the application in "C:/Program Files/Adobe (x86)".  Also when After Effects CS4 is ran, it shows up as a 32-bit app in the Windows Task Manager process list (labeled as "AfterFX.exe *32")
    If possible, is there a way to get After Effects CS4 properly recognized as a 64bit app under XP64?  I know this OS is not fully support per system requirements, but managed to install Photoshop CS4 as a 64bit app without issues.
    Another thing that confuses me also is the After Effects CS4Readme/technote:
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb405854http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb405854#_Toc162848026
    Per known issues ...
    "When installing on 64-bit editions of Windows Vista, an incorrect default installation location appears. The application will be installed in the correct location: C:\Program Files (x86). (#BG064131)"
    Does this mean After Effects CS4 is a 32-bit only app?
    Thanks for the quick clarification.  I figured since video is so memory intensive, After Effects and Premier Pro would naturally be the first apps in their lineup to receive full 64bit compatability.  Seems Photoshop CS4 is the only full 64bit app in their productivity line up.
    Sébastien, thanks for breaking down the benefits of still going with a 64bit OS for AE!
    Hi All , Pls Help ! Why icloud can't upload photo to iPad on Win 7 64bit ?
    This computer has two different versions of Flash Player for Internet Explorer and two different versions of Flash Player for other browsers.
    A clean install is recommended:
    Windows
    Download the current 32 bit uninstaller    Uninstaller for 32 bit Operating Systems
    Close all browser windows and run the uninstaller
    Restart Windows
    Delete all remaining files and folders located in the following directories. (tip: copy and paste these paths into the path bar in an Explorer window)
    C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flas
    %appdata%\Adobe\Flash Player
    %appdata%\Macromedia\Flash Player
    Verify that the file “FlashPlayerCPLApp.cpl” in C:\Window\system32\ for 32 bit systems has been deleted.
    Download the following installer files:
    32 bit Flash Player for ActiveX (Internet Explorer)
    32 bit Flash Player Plug-in (All other browsers)
    Physically disconnect from the Internet and run the installers.
  • Mehrere Bilddateien gleichzeitig öffnen geht in Photoshop CS6 (32bit unter WIN 8 pro) nicht
    Bis Photoshop CS4 (unter WIN XP, SP3) war ich es gewohnt, ein leeres Photoshop-Fenster zu öffnen und dann gleich einen ganzen Schwung von Bilddateien direkt aus dem Windows-Explorer in das Photoshop-Fenster zu ziehen (neben dem Mauszeiger erschien ein Plus-Zeichen, sobald er sich über dem leeren Fenster befand), wo sie dann als separate Fenster geöffnet wurden.
    Jetzt bei Photoshop CS6 (32 bit) unter WIN 8 pro (64 bit), wird mir diese Möglichkeit nicht mehr geboten. Neben dem Mauszeiger erscheint statt eines Plus- ein Verboten-Zeichen und ein "Fallenlassen" der Dateien ins Photoshop-Fenster ist nicht mehr möglich.
    Die Photoshop CS 6 64bit-Variante hat dieses Problem dagegen NICHT, sie reagiert so, wie oben das alte PS CS4.
    Hinweis:
    Wegen des "Kodak-Airbrush-Filters" musste ich die 32bit-Variante von Photoshop CS 6 wählen und diese auch noch im Kompatibilitätsmodus von WIN XP (SP3) starten lassen.
    Kann das der Grund dafür sein?
    Beste Grüße
    Oh-Mann
    Ah - dann geht wenigstens das "Mehrfachmarkieren" und Öffnen via Kontextmenü. Aber "Drag 'n Drop" geht hier auch nicht.
    Go to the Intel website and use their automated driver installation there.
    There's been a known issue with the Intel drivers that are included. Give that a try and report back.
    yes i already do (http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect) and it's say that all my drivers are current
    also in the windows update their is even a more recent drivers ... i try it also without success :(
