PSE12 Problems

Recently installed PSE12. Have following problems already:
1. PSE12 "Help" menu sent me to an Elements Organizer Online manual, but get message "Sorry, this page is unavailable."
2. Updates will not complete; get close to 100% then get error message that server not responding; try again. Have tried agin many times. A few times I got an error code, U43 M1D207.
3. Installed program with serial number obtained from Adobe, but several times on startup have gotten screen telling me that my free trial has expired & I need to buy now.
4. Re: Sharing preferences, only email client shown is the Adobe service & can't get authorization number by email from that service. My old version, PSE9, does show Windows Mail as a choice.
(Using Windows 8.1)
5. Tried downloading an Elements 12 PDF manual, but got mesage that file is corrupted & can't be repaired.

Thank you for the info. I replaced my old XP Pro computer with this one running Windows 8.1 in February. I believe the email client is Windows Mail, which I guess is an update or replacement for Windows Live Mail. References I have found to WLM seem to indicate its use with Windows 7 & older operating systems.
I have three email accounts installed, & they all seem to work fine with Windows Mail, since the messages track with what comes in on my on my iPhone. When I open PSE12 & go to Edit-Preferences-sharing to try to email photos, PSE12 does not recognize Windows Mail. The only email option it shows is the Adobe Email Service. (I have tried several times to set this up, but cannot get a reply from Adobe with the authorization number to use it. I have checked the Junk/Spam file & no reply is there either. I would rather use the built-in client, anyway, if I can get it to work with PSE12).
Strangely, PSE9, which is still installed, does show both Windows Mail & the Adobe Email Service as options. I have not, however, been able to get PSE9 to connect to Windows Mail either. It gives the error message that Organizer could not complete the action & I should use the Adobe Email Service!
Any help with PSE12 & Windows Mail would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to discussions.
You can get the songs you rip from your CD to export into iTunes by the following:
1. iTunes - Pref - Advanced - Import. Change import using to MP3.
Now all new songs you rip from CD will export with iPhoto
To correct those songs already in iTunes so they will export, do the following:
1. highlight song in iTunes Library
2. Toolbar go to Advanced - Click Convert Selection to MP3
3.Now you will have a duplicate of that song in your library. The one just added that you converted, add MP3 to title
4.Use MP3 song in your slide show.
5. Audio should export with photos.
Post back and let me know if this works for you. It does for me. You cannot change songs imported from iTunes this way; it will only work on songs from your CD. We will have to wait for updates for a permanent fix.

Problems printing with PSE12 and Canon Pro9000 MII

There seems to be a problem with PSE 12 and the print function. Using my Canon Pro9000-Mark II the size is off. Set to 8 x 10 photo paper in either landscape or portrait, PSE will print it to what looks like a 16 by 20 print, even though all setting are for an 8 x 10. Another problem is that even though the 9000 is set as my default printer, PSE always returns to my Epson 1400.
To further complicate this matter, if I use the Automation tool and select Canon Print Studio Pro, the 9000 prints perfectly with PSE12.
Can anyone offer any suggestions?.

Usually posted problems with the Pro9000 are poor colour matching ones, I don't recall a sizing problem before.
Have you checked all the places where size may be set, both in the PSE Print Dialogs (check paper size and print size, and under more options 'custom print size) and in the standard printer driver ?
Out of interest why would you NOT want to use Canon Print Studio Pro plug-in ? I thought this was Canon's recommended printing work flow.

Problem with backup of PSE12

I have downloaded a trial version of PSE12.
Every things works OK except that I cannot make a backup of of PSE12.
It stops when the system calculates the need of space for backup.
Are there anybody else having that problem?

Yes. I have just upgraded to PSE12 and have tried to backup my catalog. It stalls on 'Calculating total media size ...' Will not go beyond 46%.
Can anyone help?

Yosemite 10.10 with PSE12 crashes on opening - Case-sentive problem and other

Starting PSE09 and afterwards PSE12 always crashes with ... file not found messages.
I edited my Case-Sensitve Volume on ...Frameworks/.... so that it fits with PSE12 needs
But now i get a gestaltSystemVersion error:

I'm having similar problems with InDesign CC crashing frequently and I see the same Gestalt error pop up in the Console log quite a bit. From looking around online, it sounds like it could be a bug in Yosemite.
Also, try turning off Dropbox if you're running it. I'm seeing various errors about that, too ("10/31/14 10:43:21.603 AM Adobe InDesign CC 2014[18074]: plugin com.getdropbox.dropbox.garcon interrupted"). Something about InDesign interrupting the Dropbox plugin? Or the other way around?
I think things just need to be fleshed out a bit more, re: Yosemite.

Can not load the Organizer from the icon at the bottom of Editor screen, from the icon on the MacBook Air dock (OS 10.10.2), nor from the file in applications located with Finder.
I have tried without success to access Organizer after turning off and on the scanner, turning off and on the computer, loading a fresh copy of PSE12 from the CD, and restoring default preferences. I have searched on line for other options but not found any.

Also Problems with Serial in PSE12 - Mac

I have also the Problem in PSE12 with the serial. It say, that it is not valid.
System: OSX 10.8.5, MacBookPro
Adobe is becoming a real annoyance!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We've been working on this and it should be resolved by now.
The hope at this point is that the serial numbers you ALREAY have will work after we changed some things on our end, and the changes were propogated to the servers.
This was potentially to be fixed by noon PST today, but we already have reports of users having success with their serial numbers now.
I'd recommend trying to Help > Sign In and see if the serial number is accepted for you guys.

Error message "Fix quality problems in clips?" when I import a slideshow created in PSE12 into PE12

I have been using Photoshop Elements and Premierre Elements for 6+ years but continue to get this error with 12. Any ideas?

Bottom lines:
a. Render the Elements Organizer slideshow on the Premiere Elements 12 Timeline if you want the best possible preview and move on in the project.
b. Try to disable the Smart Fix or ignore it and say No, it is a red herring in this matter of rendering the Timeline content.
c. Create a .wmv version of the Elements Organizer slideshow and import that into a new Premiere Elements project manually set for a project preset that matches the properties of your .wmv.
Please read on for the long detailed version:
Whatever descriptive adjective you give or do not give Smart Fix, for you it is a nusiance that you have not been able to disable by the usual means that I have described back in post 4. I suspect that you perceive an association between the appearance of the message and the existance of the orange render indicator over the Elements Organizer slideshow when it is automatically placed on the Premiere Elements Timeline with the Elements Organizer Slideshow Editor command "Edit with Premiere Elements Editor".
This morning I did some first hand homework on this with in Premiere Elements 12 and 10.
Premiere Elements 12 Elements Organizer 12
1. The orange render indicator is unaffected by Smart Fix message appearance/disablement and whether you say Yes or No to Smart Fix message if it appears. So, it is a "red herring" if your quest is to get rid of the "need for rendering" that is indicated by the program's orange line over your Elements Organizer slideshow (.psess) when the file is on the Premiere Elements workspace Timeline.
2. Whether or not you set the Premiere Elements project preset before you use the Elements Organizer Slideshow Editor Output command "Edit with Premiere Elements Editor", that non wmv (.psess) version of the Elements Organizer Slideshow Editor's slideshow will arrive on the Premiere Elements Timeline with the orange rendering indicator above it, implying the need to render that content to get the best possible preview of what you have there. I have found no way to escape this type of thing in version 12 or 10 which I used for comparison.
3. In all this and in the past, I have never been able to trigger the appearance of the Smart Fix message when the Elements Organizer Slideshow Editor slideshow (.psess) first arrives on the Premiere Elements Timeline. So, I am not clear what in your .psess is triggering that. But, Smart Fix is an aside here and not the issue if the issue is the orange rendering indicator.
4. The program typically throws off the need to render message when it cannot match the properties of the media with one of its project presets. I am still trying to figure out which parameter is not being matched when I know that I have a 720 x 480 @ 29.97 slideshow going into a pre-set DV Standard Premiere Elements project which includes 720 x 480 @ 29.97. One guess might be that the Pixel Aspect Ratio of the .psess is missing or not available (PAR = 0.9091) as it is in the project preset in this specific example.
5. Under these exact same conditions, if I select the Elements Organizer Slideshow Output option of Burn To Disc instead of Edit with Premiere Elements Editor, the wmv version of the slideshow produced and saved in that process can be imported into Premiere Elements 12 Expert workspace and be dragged to the Timeline with no orange rendering indicator (in fact, no colored line).
Please review and then let me know if I need clarification.

Install problems: PSE12, invalid redemption code

I just purcased elements 12 and cannot seem to get it istalled. The redemption code comes up invalid. any ideas?

Have you used your redemption code to retrieve your serial number?

The serial number is what you enter to license the software, not the redemption code.

PSE12 Oganiser problem on back up.

When I try to back-up my photos I get the following error message: Error encounted while writting files..........catalog.pse 12db I have done all the trouble shooting repair/rebuild more than once.
Can you please help me back my files up.

I did indeed have .avi files and one I did not understand in there. I removed them I checked everything else. I optimized, repaired and rebuilt the index. But it came back with the same error.

How to open more than 1 file at a time in PSE12?

How do you set PSE12 to open more than 1 file (jpg) at a time? I've seen this question come up many times but no one seems to get the problem resolved. I've tried all the suggestions. Any assistance appreciated.
I had this program installed and working as I wanted about 3 months ago. I then uninstalled and reinstalled a few days ago. Now it won't open more than 1 file at a time.

My theory is that Windows get confused when it is opening the program file and the following intsructions should create a unique copy. I have produced the instructions in detail because I am never sure how much people are use to - forgive me you know much of it.
Open Windows or Folder Explorer
Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 12
Look for PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe
Right click on the file and select Copy
Right click on a blank space and select Paste - you should get a prompt asking if you want to continue - you do - this should produce a copy of the file
Rename PhotoshopElementsEditor - Copy.exe to PSE 12 ED - you should get a prompt asking if you want to continue - you do
Close the Explorer
In the Windows Control Panel, select Default Programs
In Default Programs, Select Associate a file type … - it will take a while to display the list
Scroll down to the type you want to select - say .jpg and select it
Click on the Change program button
Click on the Browse button
Search for the PSE 12 ED file renamed in 6 above, select it and then click on the Open button
Click on OK and close the Default Programs
Now try your tests. I can get multiple files to open as well as retain Expert mode.

Why does my new PSE12 crash after about 1 minute?

I used PSE8 for several years successfully, on a desktop running WinXP. Always reliable, if a little slow backing up etc with my huge (75K images) catalog.
My brand new desktop now runs Win7, 64 bit. It is a high-spec machine. I bought PSE12 and converted my old PSE8 catalog. For a while, PSE12 worked OK, even though it took a couple of days to generate all the thumbnails for my large catalog.
Suddenly, it started crashing after around 1 minute - even if I do nothing. I uninstalled the old PSE8 - still the same problem. I uninstalled / reinstalled PSE12 - still the same.
Feeling somewhat desperate as I dare not backup my catalog, or even add new images, as the software will inevitably crash part-way through. And am going on holiday soon, with camera!
Any ideas?

Hi,
If it was working but now fails, it could be a problem with your catalog.
I would suggest you try repairing and optimizing it
Load the organizer
From the File menu, select Manage Catalogs - that should open the Catalog Manager.
Select you current catalog and click on the Repair button
When that has finished, click on the Optimize button
When that is done, click on the Cancel button to close the Catalog Manager.
If it crashes before you can get into the Catalog Manager, start the organizer while holding down the shift key - that should go straight into the Catalog Manger - resume at step 3 above.

Turn off your iPad and put it in recovery mode. Try to restore it via iTunes.
