PSE5 organizer tracking deleted and renamed folders and removing orphan thumbnails

If files are deleted or renamed within a folder that's being watched by organizer, the changes made through explorer or any other program don't seem to ever get reflected in Organizer. For example, I deleted an entire folder of junk photos through Windows. They still show in Organizer. How do I tell Organizer to re-scan the folder and remove orphan thumbnails from the catalog? The only thing I've been able to do at this point is to highlight them all and delete them. That's not bad for a single folder, but is a pain when I've done a lot of renaming, reorganizing, and creation and deletion of folders and subfolders under the watched folder.
I've used a program called Thumbs Plus for years, and it has an option "remove orphans" that you can do globally, or on a folder and its subfolders. I'm wondering if there's something similar in PSE.

Yes, I realize that in an "ideal" world we could do absolutely all of our organizing in "organizer" but I just can't see that becoming a reality. We have different users on this computer and there are certainly going to be times when we're already working in another program, including Windows Explorer. One would think that if Organizer is monitoring a folder it would detect all changes, or at least have a manual "rescan folder" or "remove option of some sort to help get the real files back in sync with the catalog. Hmmm. I'm still using eval mode and not sure that I like this part! Perhaps the next version will do better in this regard.

Can "netca" delete and remove a listener from a cluster from cmd line?

We are trying to automate the shutdown, deletion and removal of a clustered listener. To date all we have been able to do is to remove it with "netca" interactively.

1) Ensure Nodeapps is stopped on all Nodes
2) Use the crs_unregister to remove all Listener Entries =
crs_unregister ora.acmord1p.LISTENER_DBPROD_ORD1P.lsnr
crs_unregister ora.acmord2p.LISTENER_DBPROD_ORD2P.lsnr
The below command should not reflect any entry for Listener after "crs_unregister"
command. ==
$ srvctl config listener -n aXXXXXX2p
$ srvctl config listener -n aXXXXXX1p
$ crs_stat -v
3) Once the Listener entries are removed, invoke NETCA to configure the Listeners
4) Start the Nodeapps on all Nodes
Check the new Listener status.
$ srvctl config listener -n aXXXXX2p
$ srvctl config listener -n aXXXXX1p
$ crs_stat -v << This should show LISTENER ONLINE >>

Can't delete or rename folders when I FTP

Hope someone can help me with this!!
When I connect to a webserver using FTP with dreamweaver, it
won't let me delete or rename any folders.
It's nothing to do with the persmissions becasue the user has
full permissions and can delete or rename when I FTP using a
different client. Any ideas?? Is there a setting that I am
missing??

I had this problem at the last company that I worked for. I
was on a Mac
then; not sure if that had anything to do with the problem.
I could sometimes connect with Dreamweaver but I could always
connect with
another ftp client. At one point, when the problems started,
I used
Dreamweaver to rename folders on the server. Instead of
creating them on my
own system, I created files and renamed folder directly on
the server
through DW. After that, I had problems. At one point, all the
files got
changed so that they were locked down.
Occasionally, I thought I isolated the problem. At times,
recreating the
entire site worked. At other times, it helped for the server
to be rebooted.
At times I thought it was because of the firewall or content
filter that was
doing it. I think it was a Windows Server that I had the
problems with. I
don't remember if the other servers gave me problems.
I never really resolved it. Now I'm at a different job and I
have but a
passing interest in what it might be.
Sorry I don't have anything solid.

Problem with cascade delete and remove bean

I am working with two entity beans that map to two tables that have a foreign key relationship. Table B has a foreign key to A and in the database that foreign key is set for cascaded updates and cascaded deletes.
The problem occurs when the the sytem first tries to remove bean 1 (mapped to table A) and then remove bean 2 (mapped to B) where bean 2 is associated with bean 1 with a foreign key relationship. The first remove works but then when it tries to remove bean 2 it throws a very ugly "CORBA TRANSACTION_ROLLEDBACK 9998" Maybe exception. My guess is that the reason is because bean 2's reocrd in the database was deleted when bean 1 was removed but the 'bean object' was not removed from the container.
When I go into our Application Server and look at how it see's the tables, it show the wrong relationship. It shows a restrict delete and a restrict update realationship.
My question is, am I wrong to think that this is a application server problem or a configuration problem? It seems to me that attempting to remove a non-existant record should not cause an error. It won't cause any SQL exceptions. Is this a flawed viewpoint? As a work around I made sure that the dependent records are deleted first but it kind of defeats the point of cascaded deletes.
We have a limited number of support calls, should I use one or am I at fault here?

table, why is the system trying to remove it once
again? You should try to remove an entity from a
single place, should it be the database or the
application. Don't try to remove it twice.

DimitarI could do this but it is a huge pain in my ass. The problem is that you might want to remove the dependent bean without removing it's parent. The object structure is a little questionable, I'll admit that. It is, as they say, the eleventh hour and I can't really change that now.
The way this work is that the server gets a list of objects marked either as new, modified, or deleted. It then relates those changes back to the database.
In this case we have two lists(which makes me realize where the class structure sucks.) In order to do what you suggest I would have to get all the deleted parent objects and then search all the deleted child objects for ones that have the parent's key in them.
It would be prefferable to fix the class structure but again this is not an option.
Anyone want to answer the question I asked?

It seems to me that they would be; but then I also think that malware that can be deleted by an A/V or manually goes to the trash and is erased, where removed malware is "removed"?

With RSC, I'd recommend performing these procedures from RH. I don't know if you get that same tight coupling with TFS, though.

Unfortunately, you cannot delete Apple IDs but what you can do is go to Settings>Store>and sign out of the old Apple ID on your iPod and the sign in to the new Apple ID.
All of the apps that were purchased under the old ID will still need the old ID's password for updates.

Finder active/deactive flashing and removing quicktime thumbnails

I have two annoyances right now with running leopard:
1.) Anytime I'm in finder and there is several quicktime movies it takes forever for it to load each thumbnail pic of each quicktime (majority of the time they're black). I'm guessing it has something to do with cover flow. How can I deactivate this feature to just show the quicktime icon in front of the filename?
2.) I've noticed that recently when I have the finder window open it suddenly deactivates and re-activates several times. It doesn't close, it just a flashing dark grey/light grey window for a few seconds.
I'd appreciate any help, thank you.

Note that if you are using Perian, as explained at http://perian.org/#support, you must wait for MKV movies to load completely. This has nothing to do with Cover Flow; it is inherent in the format.

Lightroom, PSE5 organizer, Bridge and CS4

I currently use the PSE5 organizer with CS3.
I plan on upgrading to CS4.
My question is can I finally ditch the PSE5 organizer for either the new Bridge with CS4 or Lightroom 2.0?
Bridge with CS3 did not nearly provide enough organizing capabilities nor import PSE5 organizer catalogs. And then the prior version of Lightroom would not always properly import catalogs from PSE5 (which I still find hard to believe).
And the prior version of Lightroom also seemed to have problems importing catalogs. I also did not like that it wrote metadata to JPEG's as soon as you OPENED them. I have not confirmed whether Lightroom 2 corrects this or at least gives you that option. Is it an option now and how does it do importing catalogs from PSE5?

Thanks Jon. Hopefully this is changed in the new version. I know that some very technical users confirmed that although the last version of Lightroom was "non-destructive", it did in fact write some metadata to the JPEG if opened (or I believe elsewhere I read even if just included in the libary, even if not edited. If this is incorrect, please let me know. For example in PSE Organizer, it will only write anything to JPEG's if you invoke the command. As to the first issue, you have to read down to the quotes to get to the discussion in question. I saw this elsewhere also. The point is, it changes the file date, messes with backups/syncs, etc. <Lightroom DOES actually make changes to your original .jpg file, but those changes Do Not effect the actual image. When you edit a .jpg file in Lightroom, EXIF and IPTC data is written to the .jpg file. (As well as edit meta data if you have that option enabled.) This can be a good thing as key words, copyright data, etc are added, but as a side effect, the file is re-saved and the date & time on the actual .jpg file is changed. This date & time change is annoying to me as I prefer that my original .jpg files not be changed from the date & time the image was captured. The date & time on a RAW file is not changed when I open it in Lightroom, why should Lightroom change this on my .jpg files? I found a workaround, which is to mark all of my original .jpg files as Read Only in the operating system before ever opening them in Lightroom. This works, but I do not feel that this is a very elegant solution, and I now have no way to open an edited .jpg in Camera Raw and retain the edits I made in Lightroom> Thanks, BJBBJB

Cannot delete mails or rename folders in icloud mail

Hi evereyone,
I lately realized a strange behaviour of my iCloud mail account.
No matter where I try to rename or delete a folder (icloud.com, iPhone, iPod touch,2 iPads) I get an error message that it is not possible to do so.
If I try to delete a mail (yes, I chose the server's Trash folder in every device's advanced settings) it remains in the inbox,
but also shows up in th trash. So if I delete the same mail 5 times it's still there but there are also 5 copies in the trash.
My mail client of choice is "eM Client" because it can handle icloud mail, contacts and calendar.
Strange enough, I can delete mails in the client. So the IMAP inboxes of the client and my iDevices are not in sync.
But I also cannot delete or rename folders in the client.
No problems with my wife's own iCloud account.
I am using Windows 7 and Firefox. Same problem on Safari.
Does anyone have an idea how to solve this problem?

Unfortunately, unless you develop custom code to log transactions in Project Pro (and Pwa in the project plan), there is no out of the box feature to track tasks' updates.
The baseline feature can give you a limited (11) number of snapshots you can compare your current project plan to.

Help: PSE5 Organizer won't launch

Hi, I had been using PSE5 organizer for some time without any problem until recently. Suddenly the organizer would not launch even without showing any error message. I tried all kind of suggestions below yet still couldn't get it to launch:
1) uninstall and reinstall PSE5
2) Press CTRL during launching PSE5 organizer
3) Delete Catalog folders and preference settings
Attached is the log file during Organizer's launch. Can someone help me with this?

How to uninstall PSE7 and revert back to PSE5 organizer prior to PSE8 install

I have a Vista 64-bit system and currently have PSE5 abd PSE7 installed. When I installed PSE7, I converted the PSE5 Organizer catalogs, but decided I didn't care for some aspects of PSE7 and reverted back to using PSE5. So, the PSE5 catalogs are current and the PSE7 catalogs aren't up to date. I now want to install PSE8 but want to be sure that it "grabs" and converts the Organizer catalogs from PSE5, not the out-of-date PSE7 catalogs. Can anyone tell me the best way to attempt this? Should I uninstall PSE7 and then install PSE8 so there will only be the up-to-date PSE5 catalogs available for converting to PSE8? I'm not even sure where Vista puts the catalogs. Everything seems to be different with a 64-bit system. Any assistance would be appreciated.

You can find the PSE7 catalog file at the following location in Vista:
C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Elements Organizer\Catalogs\
There would a file having extension of .pse7db which you can delete to avoid PSE 8 grabbing it.

Kevin is suggesting that you store the projects you create while working through his book in a folder called RoboHelpProjects. It is not where you have to store every project you ever create.That is for the purposes of his book.
RoboHelp initially defaults to My RoboHelp Projects but it's up to you whether you do. Generally on the forums we advise against that as it is part of your profile and can result in excessively long path names in a few cases. Generally where authors create file names that are so long they almost serve as the content.
Projects always have a root folder, call them Project 1 and Project 2 for this purpose. You can have those folders directly off your C drive (or other local partition) or within in a parent folder as above.
Now to what you can and cannot do. You can delete a whole project by selecting Project 1 or Project 2 in Windows Explorer. Obviously if you delete the parent folder you will delete all your projects within.
What you must not do is delete individual files within a project using Windows Explorer, for that you use RoboHelp's Project Manager. The exception is if you go to Tools > Reports there is a report Unused Files. Files listed there will have to be deleted using Windows Explorer for the very good reason they do not appear in Project Manager and, therefore, cannot be deleted that way.
If you think about it, it is similar to Word. There is no option to delete a document there other than using File > Open and right clicking. Not very intuitive.
