PSE7 Backup/Sync Fails

Hello,
Backup/synch is no longer working on my PSE7 catalog.  I have been using it for over a year, this just started this month.  I have a few new photos to upload, and a bunch that just need to synch again due to a minor change (I renamed the Windows folder they are stored in).
When I launch PSE7, backup/sync starts.  After about 20 minutes it dies.  The icon in Element (the two arrows) turns black.  No pictures synchronize or upload during that time.  The icon in the Windows sys tray goes away.
When backup/sync starts, I can see in Task Manager that PhotoshopElementsSyncAgent.exe
PhotoshopElementsFileAgent.exe are running. Once it dies after about 20 minutes, the PhotoshopElementsSyncAgent.exe stops running.
I have purchased 40GB of storage on photoshop.com, and I have used 32GB.
I have Repaired, indexed, optimized my catalog.
I uninstalled Photoshop Elements, and Reinstalled
From photshop.com I can use Photoshop Express to Upload a photo into my library
I created a new catalog and uploaded a couple of photos with no problems, so it must be a problem with my catalog or synch db?
I'm not getting any messages about warnings or conflicts.
I am running PSE 7 on Windows Vista SP2.  I have downloaded and installed patch 703.  Now when I select "check for Updates" I get a message that there are updates available.  However when the process starts, it stops and then says "there are no updates available."
I checked my sync log, and it indicates contains errors.  The first section says:

  • PSE7 Backup/Sync fails with existing album

My PSE7 install is an upgrade from PSE6, so obviously I have a large numnber of albums defined already from what PSE7 considers to be the "first run" of the organizaer.
I've been down this road of trying to sync my content up to PS.COM once before - and it was a disaster.  Had issues on both ends of the deal, so I went back to PSE6 while working with the PS.COM guys (who turned out to be great!) to get the issues with the site straightened out.  I think we're there on the web side, so I'm starting over.  I wiped out everything on the PS.COM side - had a blank account with 40G of space available.
I upgraded (again) to PSE7.  Once 7 was running I created a new album (called Test PScom), enabled backup/sync and put three photos in it.  This all worked fine, and my three photos are now up on the PS.COM site.
However, test two crapped out.  I took an existing album (with about 15 photos in it) and enabled backup/sync for it.  What happend is that the sync agent created the album on the PS.COM site, but none of the photos ever get uploaded.  If I choose the "photos pending sync" view in PSE7, I see all 15 of the items that belong in this album.  They're marked as needing to be sync'd.  However, they never actually get transfered.
    Things I'm pretty sure of:
It's not a permissions / firewall / connectivity problem.  Anything I create that's brand new syncs just fine.
It's not the content of this album.  All 15 photos are JPGs ~1M each
I'm not out of space on the site, and my PS.COM account is (now) in good working order
The sync engine itself hasn't died
I've seen all the suggestions (made some of them myself) about how to "trick" the engine into working.  I'll do it if I have to, but I'm much more interested in getting some onput from Adobe as to what the real problem is here.
Also curious if I'm the only one left with this issue, or if there are others?

  • PSE7 BACKUP/SYNC AGENT does not work.

Under the Preferences box , the Backup/Sync Agent does not open. I can't alter or change anything. When I sign in , my sign in and password are both accepted ,however where the Welcome is on top, it used to say Welcome, with my first name. It does not do this anymore. When I try to upload my pics to Photoshop.com it states I am not logged in. No one at Adobe has been able to help after 4 months .

  • Itunes backup/Sync fail

Hi everyone this problem has been encountered before and read through the threads in support and outside of the communities but having no success with it.
The problem: Updated to the latest ITunes 10.4.1.10 and the IPHONE 3GS has been updated to latest firmware to 05.16.02
The problem is that I am having with ITunes is that it is giving me a backup fail error message when syncing and backinh up and does not do the the backup.
It then says Sync complete but has done nothing.
I can sync the music seperatley and can also syn the Apps.
It just seems to be the contacts/calendar etc... which it wont sync and therefore wont create a backup/restore.
I have trawled through the disscussions:
I have removed the backups from the folders as suggested. This didnt work.
I have removed the Sync Log and reset the sync history. This didnt work.
I have done a hard reset on iphone and removed Itunes and then reinstalled the software and Iphone to latest versions and this is still throwing up the same error when sync/backup.
Is there a solution out there for this that i havent looked at or tried.
Im running Windows 7 (64bit) and I tunes has worked previously as i have the contacts backup in windows contacts.
But now it just wont work. Also there is severe hanging when using the software too.
Please help and sorry for being long winded. Was working on more info the better

OK I managed to free up more space on my iMac HD to 148Gb. The sync and backup then ran OK! Afterwards there was still about 144Gb free. So it would seem that in order to create an about 5Gb backup file there needs to be about 30 times as much free space on the mac. This can't be right surely?

  • Sync fails on all devices

My sync fails with all devices.
    iPhone 5
    iPod 5
    iPad 2
all previously backed up. Ever since the first backup they have failed. several updates in iOS and iTunes. I am upgrading my HDD on my PC running Win 7. Every piece of software is a fresh install. And still fail. Tried changing USB ports. No change. Is there any log file that is on the devices that could block this, if it is corrupt? I've already done a hard reset on one of the phones and no change. This is rrrrreeeeeaaaalllyyy irritating. I love the phones and iPad. I'm really ticked at iTunes. Always had problems with it. It has always bogged my computer down and never shows you what its doing.

  • PSE7 Backup/Synch Not as Described in Manual or Help

XP SP2, 4G RAM, plenty of hard drive space.
Descriptions clearly state that backup to photoshop.com requires images to be in an album. I set up one album and put a test set of 24 images in it. The uploading started after a few seconds or minutes but continued to run for hours.
I checked my photoshop.com page and here's what happened. The album appears but has only 3 images rather than the 24 in my PSE7 album. The "My Photos", "Library" section on the photoshop.com page has 1152 images (limited by the 2G I suppose). Those 1152 images are multiples of the 24 images in the album on my desktop PSE7 but not shown in the album on the web page.
Some of the repeats are 32 to 52 times but I can find no pattern for the number. I suppose my repeated attempts to get the sync to work could account for some repeats but not 32 to 52. Now I am faced with removing the album and starting over but I'm not sure how to do that without removing the items from my desktop.
    What did I do wrong?

    Robert:
You could also try and delete the folder (and all contained files) called "syncdb" that is located next to your catalog file.
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\Catalogs\[your catalog name here]
This causes the Backup/Sync stuff to start fresh.
    Steps would be:
    Exit Elements Organizer
    Delete that syncdb folder
Go to your account at PS.com and delete all your files.
    Launch Elements Organizer
    Turn Sync back on (Edit>Preferences>Backup/Sync)
Create a new Album and mark it for Backup/Sync
    Put some files in it.
Wait for the backup to happen.
One thing to keep in mind is that if images are being uploaded to PS.com by the PSE Organizer, you'll need to Refresh PS.com to see the images that have been uploaded since you opened it. There's a little green "recycle" type icon near the upper right of My Photos. Clicking that icon causes PS.com to re-read your online catalog.
Closing your browser and re-opening PS.com will do the same thing.
Not sure that this is causing the wackyness, but it may help clear up why you were not seeing all your photos at PS.com
    Hope it helps.

  • Backup/sync has stopped working

My backup/sync stopped working in the middle of a backup three days ago.  But PSE7 shows that backup/sync is working normally (green arrows).  It also shows files pending back up.  Synchronization is turned on for the album's needing back up.
I have tried pausing and restarting sync, restarting PSE7, and rebooting.  Nothing works.
    HELP!!!!

    No raw files.
But the backup/sync agent sent a message to my computer at startup that
stated that it could not find an Internet connection and has been unable to
backup for the last five days.  The computer has been continuously connected
to the Internet through a cable connection every day through that time
span.  So the backup/sync agent cannot find the Internet for some reason.
Is there a way to reset that?

I am working on a Win 7 Machine and I have disabled all Firewall and Antivirus Tasks as this caused problems on an other update.

Well - I synced before - that was successful - but I am a bit scared to ignore this error and just to continue? You think I should ignore that?

  • Ipad sync failed to start

iPad 2 sync fails to start every time even when cabled to my Macbook Pro.  iPad 1 syncs without a problem to the same iTunes.  Sync communication begins on iTunes and the spinning arrows appear on the iPad but it nevery moves onto step 2.  I have tried deleting the backups but still have the same problem.  This is after several months so simple restart or disconnect and reconnect fixes it.

  • IPhone - wipe & restore "backup session failed"

I have an old first generation iPhone (os version 3.1.3) that I replaced last year with an iPhone 4.  I want to wipe it clean and let my daughter use it just as an iPod.  I've done a factory restore a few times on this, but can't get it to a usable state.  After restoring, it is stuck on the "plug the usb cable into iTunes icon" screen.  Every time I try to sync or backup I get the "iTunes could not back up the iPhone ... because the backup session failed" error, and I can never get the phone to the home screen.
Note I don't care about any old data or phone access, i just want it wiped clean and installed with the games my daughter likes.  I've tried my wifes MBP, and my Mac Pro desktop; I've tried deleting old backups manually from ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup and the lockdown file from /var/db/lockdown, and creating a brand new administrator account on my Mac and trying to get it to work from there.  No luck.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

Note the iPhone mounts in iTunes just fine, but any attempt to backup/sync it fails, and the iPhone never dispalys the home screen
