PSE7 on Vista 64-bit

Does PSE7 work on a Vista 64-bit system? I've had it working fine on my existing 32-bit XP system, but just ordered a new computer with Vista.

Yes, it does.

  • Vista 64 bit OS

    Hello,
My laptop on XP is so slow when working with RAW files that I need a new computer. I was about to order a new desktop and noticed that it is supplied with Vista 64 bit OS.  Will this work with PSE7 as it says it uses Windows 32 bit versions? If not, Is there a 64 bit version?
    Appreciate your advice, thanks,
    Rod

  • ITunes v7.6 still NOT working w/Vista 64-bit

    I believe it's not working because AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi WON'T install.
It gives me a "The installer encountered errors before Apple Mobile Device Support could be configured." error.
Is there ANY WAY around this at all?
Also I've installed & uninstalled iTunes v7.6 multiple times now, rebooting between installs also but still no luck.
I've also extracted the 6 installation files out of iTunesSetup.exe and I'm trying to get AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi to install, but it just won't install.
When I start the iTunesSetup.exe package and finish installation, iTunes Setup Assistant also gives me a warning that says "iTunes was not properly installed. If you wish to import or burn CDs, you need to reinstall iTunes."
And under Event Viewer I see this "Windows Installer installed the product. Product Name: Apple Mobile Device Support. Product Version: 1.1.3.26. Product Language: 1033. Installation success or error status: 1603."
Help please! I would really like for iTunes to work with my iPhone!

Well at least up and til today, there never was a solution to activate or even synch Vista 64 bit OS, iTunes, and the iPhone - for anyone, anywhere - period. Not unless you used some VMware solution (which I've heard mixed results on).
This new version of iTunes (7.6) did today for the first time, correct the ability to burn CDs from my collection of music in iTunes. Before this version it wasn't possible.
My Mobile Device Support program did update and install correctly today along with the other apps that got updated. So now I wonder if it is truly possible to activate and synch with an iPhone?!? Anyone try this yet?
Cyanide regarding your install, I had to go through something similar back in one of the earliest versions designed for Vista 64bit OS. The trick is not only uninstalling, but removing all references in the registries, left over file folders, etc. after uninstall. Then begin a clean install.
BUT, it's entirely possible that the iPhone still is still not capable of syncing with Vista 64 bit.
If you think you've had this ability before, than I'm 99.9% sure you only have Vista 32 bit OS.

  • After rebooting my Windows Vista 64 bit system, could not access iTunes; after uninstalling I tried reinstalling, but it has been running for more than 24 hrs. Should I cancel installation?

I had been updating my Windows Vista 64 bit system and as a result of a problem, had to reboot my system. Afterwards, I was no longer able to access iTunes.  I got a message stating that there was a problem with some of the files associated with the application.  A phone rep at Apple's Customer Service provided me with emails linking instructions on completely uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes. I did the uninstall, then checked for lingering iTunes files and couldn't completely remove some, but tried intalling the latest version of iTunes. It has been running for roughly 24 hours.  The status bar is green all the way across, and when I try to cancel, I get the following message: "Are you sure you want to cancel iTunes installation?"  I keep hitting "no," but am staring to wonder if there is a problem with the install.  Should it take this long if I have roughly 134 gigs of music?  I can still see the music in my computer's C drive, so I am worried that there is an error, perhpas because I didn't clear out all the lingering C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\ and all the lingering C:\Program Files\iTunes\.  Any thoughts?

It is not just the HP. I have 3 HP computes and 2 Dell computers. 2 of the HP and 1 Dell suffer the iTunes internet block. Took me a while to figure it out also. But, the one thing that is different on the Dell, is that I can leave iTunes installed and not open it and everything works. As soon as I open it, internet access goes down. BUT secure sites (https:) works fine.

  • Windows Vista 64 bit service error on iCloud

I am running Vista 64 bit and trying to log into iCloud and everytime I do I get this message "You can't sign in because of server error" anyone got any ideas?

Hello, I think I can identify with this error. When I attempt to install or uninstall an update for the JRE, the error message pops up, notifying me that a DLL required for this install could not be run. I have successfully installed the newest JDK on my machine running 64-bit Vista, though.
I had an earlier version of the JRE (11) installed prior to this experience, but I could not find the corresponding folder for that install, whether in the Program Files or Program Files(x86) directory. Therefore I suspected that the uninstall failure could be attributed to Windows not being able to find an uninstall package. However, I am also unable to install a new version of the JRE (14), which is quite irksome as I am trying to develop a desktop application with Java.
If anyone has any solutions, suggestions or workarounds for this issue I would be immensely grateful! I had also tried using System Restore but to no avail.

could not access network location %appdata%\
It looks like it's having trouble getting one of the iTunes preference files in. There's a couple in each user account (usually in C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Apple Computer\iTunes and C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes).
Has a version of iTunes previously been successfully installed on that PC? If so, was it working properly prior to your doing the current installs?
What hard drive is your "Users" folder on? Is it the C drive or somewhere else?
If it's somewhere else, are your Program files also on that other drive or are they on the C drive?

  • Can I install win 8 64 bit OS on dv6936 laptop win vista 64 bit OS

I just purchased the HP Pavilliom 500 destop and would like to upgrade my laptop with desktop OS.
Can I install my hp Pavilion 500 PC win 8 64 bit OS on my hp pavillion dv6936 laptop win vista 64 bit OS

    Hi Ibdman,
You cannot use the Pavilion 500 desktop recovery disks to upgrade the operating system on your HP laptop.
You would have to purchase either: a Win 8 retail upgrade or full install disc to change the operating system on your laptop.
If you are considering upgrading your laptop you should consider Win 7 64 bit instead of Win 8.

  • Convert Website to PDF on Vista 64-bit

    Hi,
using Acrobat Pro 8.1.2 on Vista 64-bit both German versions. In Internet Explorer I see the Acrobat toolbar with all menu items. But regardless what I choose (Convert to PDF, Settings etc.) nothing happens! All other Microsoft Office Plugins work fine. All desired IE-AddOns seem to be there.
For installation I manually expanded the AdobePDF.dll_64 from Data1.cab, renamed it and used it within the installation process. The problem occured both on Vista Business 64 and Ultimate 64 (DVD incl. SP1) which I installed yesterday on a fresh formatted partition.
    Any Ideas? Thanks in advance
    Andreas

Solution: Download a current distribution of Acrobat Professional 8.
    New download: 515 MB
    Original download: 478 MB
With the original distribution I was prompted for the AdobePDF.dll at the end of the installation process. However, with Vista SP1 installed first, neither method of supplying the AdobePDF.dll_64 (renamed of course) or AdobePDF.dll file worked.
Note: If I tried using the *.dll_64 it would give me a javascript error when printing from a web page.
I also replaced splwow64.exe and spoolsv.exe with copies from Vista SP1 distributable. This didn't remedy the problem either.
I did notice that two sets of files were created during the print process:
    00001.SHD SHD File 3KB
    00001.SPL ShockwaveFlash.ShockwaveFlash 0KB
The only way to remove these files from C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS was to issue a net stop command.
    "net stop spooler"
The files are still in use so you must stop the splwow64.exe process (hint: use Task Manager). Then you can delete the files. If you do not delete these files before reinstalling, these files will still show up in the Print Manager.
To restart the printer subsystem, issue the following command: "net start spooler"
I also came across a tech document indicating that a manifest error found in the Event Viewer should be looked at. It suggested that Nero 8 could be the culprit. Hence, I removed Nero 8 completely and used a clean up too as directed (General-CleanTool.zip or General-CleanTool_2_2_0_37.exe). This didn't remedy the problem either.
I then found a tech document that said to install the update Windows6.0-KB930627-x64 ..... (MS quote) Install this update to resolve an issue where the private data of the DEVMODE data structure may be corrupted on a 64-bit version of Windows when using a 32-bit application in raw mode to print a document. (end of MS quote) Since Vista SP1 was installed it was not possible to install this patch.
Also, there was another tech document that suggested that I install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Feature Pack Redistributable Package (x64) .... (aka: vcredist_x64.exe). Once installed, it did trigger an unexpected event. It triggered the installation of MS Office 2003 Service Pack 3 via the Update process. Previoulsy, Vista did not even hint that there was additional download available. How do you like that for bugs in Vista? *sigh*
I previously mentioned in the above postings that this only affected the Internet browsers. However, after further investigation I found I could not print a PDF from any application. This included all the applications under MS Office too.
One other note: After finally finding a solution, I found that Internet Explorer 8 (Beta 2) was not a good choice to use with the PDF Print function. It cuts off the sides of the web page and prints only the first web page. Additional pages are left blank in the final PDF document. Therefore, I removed the update (IE 8 is considered an update by MS).

  • VPN Client and Vista 64-bit

We have several laptops that we need to install Vista on. We would prefer 64-bit so that we can really make use of the extra RAM these laptops have, however there is one program we require holding us back to 32-bit at the moment. Its the Cisco VPN Client. We have PIX 500 series hardware so we don't have any other VPN option right now.
All I would need to know is that Cisco does indeed plan to release a Vista 64-bit compatible of the software sometime soon (say in the next quarter).
Does anyone know if this is planned or not? Or is there some technological barrier keeping them from doing it?

  • Vista 64-bit + Firefox + (Netflix-required) Silverlight installation = I am now out of aspirin.

I like Firefox, and hardly ever open IE unless forced to anymore, so this was an atypical experience.
'''I've found a 'for now' workaround for this which I've included. What I'm looking for is a solution that feels less likely to go up in smoke due to some future, required update.'''
    '''Situation:'''
I recently subscribed to Netflix. Netflix very specifically required Microsoft Silverlight before it would stream content to my PC.
    '''Problem: '''
Silverlight updating via Firefox results in me not having Silverlight at all after clicking the Update button, etc., and running the Silverlight installer. Said installer tells me (in complete defiance of their listed System Requirements, all of which I meet) that Silverlight 5 is not compatible with my 64-bit OS. In this case that's Vista, although the message didn't specify. And it tells me this -after- it's done deleting the older version of Silverlight that I had, leaving me with no Silverlight at all. Not classy.
I found that much out pre-Netflix, the hard way, which was why I had no Silverlight installed when I subscribed and -then- found out I'd need it. I'd set up a restore point before updating Silverlight, but made the mistake of taking the 'not compatible' message at face value and didn't restore afterward. And yes, the same installer behavior happened when I tried again to reinstall Silverlight so I could use Netflix's stream-to-PC option.
'''Detailed info and a workaround which (for now?) works:'''
So at that point I bit the bullet and went to the Microsoft Silverlight update page in Internet Explorer. I got a message that Silverlight is not compatible with my OS there too, when I was at the download page (again, in spite of their system requirements page saying otherwise, and if there's an "unless it's 64-bit Vista" footnote I sure didn't find it), -but- the Silverlight updater downloaded via Internet Explorer, unlike the one downloaded through Firefox, resulted in me being able to install Silverlight anyway... but a 'stealth' older version installation, see below.
I could then watch Silverlight-required material -in Firefox- just fine once the IE-acquired version of Silverlight was installed -- as long as I never update Silverlight, or more to the point, as long as I never -have to- update Silverlight. This is not an optimal position to be in with software these days. Also, Firefox plugin update checks now show me as -still- having an outdated version, which I confirmed is the case. And if I opt to update it, see above regarding the installer deleting Silverlight and then giving me the finger and leaving me Silverlight-less.
Note: I couldn't -find- an option on Microsoft's site to get an older version via Firefox, I looked, and the downloaded-via-Firefox version of the Silverlight installer was no help at all. Meanwhile, the IE-acquired version installs an older version of Silverlight automatically without -telling me- it's an older version.... While I'm glad that it works, it makes it LOOK like IE is doing what Firefox couldn't, getting version 5 of Silverlight on Vista 64-bit, when it isn't.
Version note: According to the "Installed Version" checker on Microsoft's Silverlight update page AFTER updating via IE, and also to Firefox's Manage Add-Ons option, Silverlight 4 (4.0.60831.0) is what I end up with via the IE-downloaded installer; the current Silverlight version is 5-something. But the only reason I know this is because I went back to the update page and looked at the "version you have" entry again.
I'm happy to have any version that -works-, but concerned about what will happen when either a Windows update, a Firefox update, or something on the Netflix end, causes the yellow 'out of date' button beside Silverlight in the plugin update checker list to turn to gray and 'disabled' and stay that way.
I do realize that this issue is probably largely the result of Microsoft being, well, Microsoft -- Silverlight is required for Netflix streaming to PC, and there are issues getting Silverlight installed via a non-IE browser? Oh yeah, that doesn't make me suspicious AT ALL. Hah. But I am hoping that on the Firefox end, someone's accounting for the existence of this Silverlight-related snafu, because if I hadn't been stubborn enough to go back and try Netflix in Firefox again after all this, I still wouldn't realize I didn't HAVE to use Internet Explorer to watch Netflix content on my PC.
And if there's anything that can be done about the way things (refuse to) go when installing/updating Silverlight via Firefox, a Google search suggests I am not the only one who's had this problem or one similar to it.
