PSE8 hangs when a video file is opened

PSE8 Organizer hangs up whenever a video file is opened. When the file is opened, a movie viewer is displayed but nothing further happens (the movie doesn't play) and the program stalls. Clicking anywhere in the window results in Windows 7 telling me that the program is not responding.
I've tried changing the extension from .MOV to .AVI; same behavior.

Canon videos should play without problem unless the file has become corrupted or edited in some external application.
Try shooting a quick test movie on the camera and copying it directly from storage card to My Videos. Then import to organizer using Get Photos & Videos à from Files & Folders
Then navigate to My videos and highlight your test video file.
Click Open or Get Media.
Now see if that opens and plays.

CS5 Photomerge hanging when using many files

Hello,
I have managed to work around the issue, but it's annoying nonetheless.
The basic problem is that I've started creating very wide and tall Bokeh Panoramas or 'The Brenzier Method' http://www.ryanbrenizer.com/category/brenizer-method/
From Lightroom I select the images I want and 'merge to panorama in PS'. When I use say 2 - 30 images it's fine. However when I use say 160 (ridiculous I know) it will hang when merging the files, processor usage stays on 13%, but the progress dialogue bar doesn't animate. I tried it through photomerge and 'align all layers' from the edit menu. I reduced this ridiculous amount to 60 and if I chose the 'vignette removal' option on the photomerge dialogue it will hang on this process after starting to create the panorama. If I don't do the vignette, it will create the panorama.
I know that it will depend upon the complexity of the merge, it's just annoying that it would fail whereas Microsoft ICE will complete the panorama without fail, it just may be of a lesser accuracy due to parallax.
Other than using less images and attempting to overlap correctly, is there much else that can be done?
I'm using an up to date version of CS5 64bit windows. running on a 16gb Core i7 2600k. The merged final image occupies 13gig of ram. I have the scratch disc on a spare 2tb drive with about 1.5 tb free.

Mr_Fujisawa, I just wanted to come back on here and thank you for opening my mind to the "Brenizer Method", which I had not heard of before. I've been experimenting with it today and enjoying the results! Up to now I put effort into getting everything in focus all across my panos, which are generally landscapes. It didn't dawn on me to use stitching on subjects up close.

When a pdf file is opened in a tab, the automatic scroll function from the pad does not work in the other tabs, but only for the particular PDF tab.

The scroll function from the pad/mouse does not work for the other tabs when a PDF file is opened.

Have you checked to see if your PDF add-on is up to date? You should take a look at the [[Opening PDF files within Firefox]] Knowledge Base article. There is a lot of good information in there. You should try both of the suggested PDF add-ons to see if that fixes the issue.

Excel Hangs when saving a file

Hi
When saving a file (CTRL+S) excel hangs, no error or anything.
This happens on Windows 8 PRO, on Win7 no problem at all.
Tried on EXCEL 2010 and EXCEL 2013 Customer Preview.
Checking the file after the app crash shows no file exists however 2 files exist instead:
*.TMP file
*.[NOTHING] file
The *.TMP is the new file i just saved, if I change it to *.XLSX it works fine, no curroption.
This was done saving on DESKTOP.
Since file was saved I assumed there is some kind of permission error so I changed the directory permission for "C:\Users\MYUSER\DESKTOP" to "EVERYONE".
With this setup excel saves without a problem....
I guess EXCEL tries to save under a different user which has no permission but why no error?
Any ideas?

My 64Bit Adobe CS6 hangs when loading a file

My Windows 7 Adobe CS6 v13.0.1 x64 hangs when loading a file. However the CS6 v13.0.1 x32 application runs correctly. Do I need to re-install Adobe CS6 Upgarde?

Bug: Lightroom 3.3 hang when importing video

On Windows, Lightroom 3.3 will hang when importing .AVI videos when the following is true:
- Move or Copy (not Add)
- Rename Files is selected
- Filename pattern includes "exposure"
Changin to a pattern that only includes date and time will make the import succeed.

If it really failed in ntdll.dll it might be a system issue. Make sure you disable all real-time anti-virus processes, and make sure your Windows system is up-to-date.
Otherwise, it will be hard to know what is going on. If it persists, open a support ticket with Adobe. Take a look in the event viewer to make sure you have all the details of the crash.

Photoshop Elements 12 Organizer Crashes when Importing Video Files

I recently upgraded from Photoshop Elements 10 to 12. Now if I import any of my videos, they import onto the hard drive but as soon as Elements tries to bring them into the catalog, Photoshop Crashes. When I re-open the Organizer, it crashes as soon as it processes my files. If I delete the video file from my hard drive, then it doesn't crash. I have lots of videos that were imported under Photoshop Elements 10 and they don't cause any problems.
I uninstalled Elements and re-installed but that didn't help.
I deleted my preferences but that didn't help.
I updated to 12.1 but that didn't help.

I have checked on another Windows 8.1 computer and it doesn't have problems so it isn't a general problem with Windows 8.1.
Also, it isn't a problem with that particular catalog (That catalog worked on my other computer and I get the error with a new catalog)
I re-downloaded Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package and updated it since that seems to be what MSVCR100.dll is used for but that didn't help.
I get the problem with .MTS and .MT2S (AVCHD) video files but don't have the problem with .MP4 files.
I tried with a Safe Boot but I still have the problem.
I did a file cleanup using CCleaner but that didn't help either.
I ran System Mechanic to fix registry problems but that didn't help either.
I tried disabling my Norton Antivirus and Firewall but that didn't help.

I do not have any version of Premiere Elements installed.
I never removed any files. This is a clean installation from a couple months ago when I got my new hard drive.

Firefox 4 hangs when Goole or gmail is opened

Today i downloaded Firefox 4 but having issues as firefox hangs
When i try to open '''Goolgle or gmail''' using the page loads but its unresponsive. The gamil page will load with the cursor blinking at the user name but i cannot enter anything.
I can neither switch between tabs
The tab which was opened google/gmail tab says its still loading....
I dont know if this is the issue with any other website i havent tried many...
what is causing this issue i had to move back to using Firefox 3.6 for getting gmail or google to work

Under Windows 7:
Actually it looks like the dom.storage.default_quota wasn't the fix, it was how I started the browser.
If I start Firefox from the program icon / shortcut / taskbar icon, I get the hangs even with dom.storage.default_quota value increased.
Starting firefox via a .bat file I use to run more than one Firefox instance stops the hang / hour-glass:

set MOZ_NO_REMOTE=1 start "" "C:\Program Files (x86)\Firefox\firefox.exe" -ProfileManager set MOZ_NO_REMOTE=0
This works with dom.storage.default_quota at default 5120
To run more than one instance of Firefox you need multiple copies/installs of Firefox - you can't run multiple instances of the same .exe/install at the same time.
For this problem, just run the .bat on your single install of Firefox.

It looks like there is a command-line switch for this now, like -ProfileManager
-no-remote
That can simply be set in your shortcut:
Target: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -ProfileManager

I haven't checked to see if this problem /fix is needed under Linux / Mac OSX
Odd, the .bat using MOZ_NO_REMOTE causes the problem to go away, but adding the -no-remote on the shortcut doesn't help - still get the hang / hour-glass.
For now using the .bat is a usable work around, but a better solution is needed.

When publishing video files in H.264 format, I get the error "No rendered photo exists on disk"

I want to export images as well as videos (.mov files) by using the Publishing Manager in Lightroom 5.6 under Windows 7, 64 Bit. For this I activated "Include Video Files" in the Publishing Manager and set "Video Format" to "H.264". When publishing, all photos are correctly published. The videos, however, are not published. Instead Lightroom returns the error: "Some export operations were not performed.", "No rendered photo exists on disk" followed by a list of the videos that could not be exported.
If I select "Original, unedited file" for "Video Format" instead, the videos are published. Also, if I manually export the videos (without using the Publishing functionality), the export works.
How can I publish videos using the H.264 format?

I just tried to export it again but this time to the desktop, not a Sandisk USB, and this time it created 4 different files, one being audio only and when I tried to play/open the others it gave a 'server error' dialogue window and I couldn't get a screen shot while this was open.

[nForce] Geforce6200 Freezes my PC as soon as any video file is opened on K7N2GM-L

I was using a Geforce fx5200, never had a similar problem. Today I bought a Geforce6200 card, which will crash my pc very time when I tried to open a video file.
Acutally It did not really crash it...it looks like the pc become extremely slow, since if I shake the mouse, I will see the location of the mouse cursor will change after a few seconds.
Tried the same video card on a P4 system, no problem found.
I m using the newest driver from Nvidia website for the video card. I even flahed my motherboard to the newest bios, but nothing helps.
Any suggestion about what I could do?

The Bios of my motherboard is 1.6, I just flashed it yesterday. My nvidia driver for the nf2 chipset is 5.10, which I believe is the newest on Nvidia website. For video drvier I tried both the newest on the Nvidia website and the one shipped with my video card--same effects. I even reinstalled the windows xp, still no help. Also tried to toggle different options in the motherboard bios setting, but no go there.
The card does not seem to have a power connector. Also, I tried that card in a different system, which is a P4 2.26Hz+ cheapest ECS board + a crappy 400W PSU, got no problem playing video files there. Could it be something like incompatibility between the board and the card?
(I heard geforce6200 chip was designed for PCI-e, and all the AGP versions are made through a onboard bridge connector/adaptor----I might be wrong)

I think those are the only relevant things in the log file, everything before that is at an older time and I think is a log from when I ran "startx". I think this is the first time I've run video since updating catalyst-utils. Web video (eg YouTube) plays fine and doesn't cause any problems. I've tried reinstalling catalyst-utils and still have the same problems. The version is 14.1-1.
Any ideas on what I should try? Also, is there an easy way to switch to the open source driver, and then back to catalyst if that doesn't work? I tried using the open source one for a while but had issues so started using catalyst, but it's possible the issues I had with the foss one are now fixed.
Edit: I managed to install the FOSS drivers and all problems I formerly had with my 6970 are now fixed. This is a better solution than I could have hoped for, since I had been having a few problems with catalyst before the segfaulting started, and I'm having none of them with xf68-video-ati. And, full resolution from before I start X!

Yes. You can put all of your personal default settings in the file ~/.mplayer/config. If it doesn't already exist, just create it. On my VDPAU enabled system it looks like this:

Ichat hangs when I video preview

I've tried 2 isignts. They work with ivisit and yahoo but when I try and start a one on one video conference or video preview the app always hangs.
I've tried reinstalling ichat using pacifist. Tossing out all the plist files associated with isight and ichat but the same thing happens.

It seems you have already tested your iSights using the hints in the How To Ensure Your iSight Is Functional FAQ and have determined that you do not have an iSight problem.
Does iChat hang when you launch it from the

I need to set a link to a video file (ideally one that can be

Ipod too slow when reading video files via DVD player with USB port.

Hi all, this is my first message in this forum.
I've got a DVD player that has a USB port and reads all types of disks. When I use my IPOD 80 GB the files I read are somehow frozen and don't run properly (lack of sync between audio and video, etc). I've got version 1.2.1 and use it in disk mode otherwise the player doesn’t see it. Meanwhile a friend of mine uses it's 60 Gb IPO on the same player, version 1.0 and it doesn't need to go to disk mode, and the player reads perfect from it. Is this a problem of the ipod software version?
Both ipods are in Fat32 format, but in his ipod the partition is set to active. I can't change mine to that, because windows is seeing my IPOD as a removable device, and my friend’s IPOD as a disk.
Hope I haven't been too confusing, and I welcome any help anyone can give.

what it is you are trying to do. Are you attaching
the iPod to a stand alone DVD player? Are you trying
to export stuff out of the iPod into the DVD player?
