PSE8: unable to complete DVD burn. Stops around 95% each time. [was:Queston:]

I have adobe Premier Elements 8. I have updated with any updates. I compiled a bunch of home videos and I wanted to burn them on a DVD for Christmas. Once I compiled everything and got audio all set and disc menus the works. I went to the share tab and selected the burn to dvd, I selected my settings and hit burn it took about 5 hours for the DVD to burn to the disc and about at 95% complete a message came up stating that it was not able to burn. I have wasted about ten DVD's trying to get them burned. I have even saved the file for PC format to watch and burn the movie on another program and that save took about ten hours. I am not sure if it is the program or the computer. It is really frustrating. Any help would be appreciated.

Are you doing the burn to with "Fit Content To Available Space" with check mark?
Assuming that you do, immediately before you hit Burn, what does the Quality area of the burn dialog show for Space Required and Bitrate?
And, the usual drill for those working with Premiere Elements 8...
a. do you have the automatic background rendering and autoanalyzer features turned off?
b. are you working from the 8.0.1 Update version of the program?
c. do you have the latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer?
d. are you running the program as Run As Administrator or from a User Account with Administrative Privileges?
Right now a and b seem more relevant than c and d to what you are reporting, but I include them just in case.
Do you have the equipment to go Blu-ray?

  • DVD Burning takes so long, first time around - why?

    Hi guys,
I wonder if anyone can help with a query I have please?
I use an external DVD burner to burn DVD's for a customer each day (http://eshop.macsales.com/item/OWC/MRF82SD22/).
The interface I'm using on this particular burner, is the FW800 interface, and burn times for the same job, are typically around 7minutes per session.
However, (and here's the issue) - first thing every morning, or after a long period of inactivity, a burn will take as long a 18 minutes, then come back to the 7 minute burn time over 3 or 4 burns. If I use it constantly, the burn times sit around 7 minutes all day long . . . . but never first time!
(I noticed too, that the DVD takes a while to mount on the Desktop at times.)
This happens constantly, and I've been taking note of this phenomenon for over 3 months.
    iMac is about a 18 months old (2.4Ghz Core 2 Duo/2GB Ram)
    OS is 10.6.8 Snow Leopard
    DVD's are DVD-R
Filetypes being burned are always .MPG.
If anyone can explain to me why this may be happening, I'd be very grateful.
    Thanks in advance.

No replies so I would assume no one has or noticed.  The only thing I thought of, but not sure it applies to your case (which is why I didn't reply but I mention it now anyhow) is perhaps a disk image is created the first time before burning it to the dvd and then reused for additional copies.  The fact that you said you do this throughout the day made me think you couldn't be burning the same thing each time so new disk images would have to be created for those new times which throws out that disk image theory.

    Hello there, TindyBobbin.
Just to make sure, here is a Knowledge Base article that reviews the process for downloading a digital copy:

  • Dvd burn stops idvd crashes

Have been having problem when burning dvd, burns so far than quits & notice idvd crash
do not understand what the message means is happening with every dvd burn attempt
Also need to know how to send idvd project to trash / delete when done with it

I had the same problem until I realized I was editing in HD after years of editing Standard DVD video.  My hard drive was formated for 32bit and can only record up to 4 GB per file.  I had to take one of my hard drives and reformat it to the journal setting so there are no blocks which leaves the entire hard drive of a 2TB unit to record those unbeleavable HD movies.  The mov I was trying to take to IDVD was 26GB and it recoreded all the way this time.  I DVD will automatically dreduce it to fit on a standard DVD.
Whats rediculous is that every one records in HD now because they can but give little thought as to how its going to be edited.  Standard DVD looks great when played on a blue ray and no professionals dont want to pay the extra fee to edit and take it to blue ray as many people dont have Blue ray yet.
Other problems can also stop your recording like a bad still photo file or one that is still in a raw state and not formated.
    Hope this helps.

  • External dvd burner stopped working

Hi, have an older imac -installed tiger os a while back worked fine- bought a LaCie external cd/dvd burner worked fine until this am 12/29 when THE COMPUTER TURNED ITSELF OFF!! (no human intervention, no power outage) restarted computer which functioned fine- hooked up LaCie and imac would not recognize burner(couldn't bring it down on menu)very bizarre Hope this makes sense to someone Thanks

If possible, try to use the drive on another computer, just to make sure it is still working ok. Even a PC is good for testing, since you just want to make sure it is ok.
Try resetting the PRAM, by restarting the Mac and immediately holding down the CMD, Option, P and R keys simultaneously (CMD is the cloverleaf/apple key) before the "bong" sound. Keep them down for at least three "bong"s, then let the system finish starting up. Plug the drive, pop a prerecorded CD/DVD and see if it mounts. You can use Disk Utility to check if the system "sees" the unit, or you can also run System Profiler for that purpose.

  • DVD burn stops at 66%.

I have been able to burn DVD's for a while now but all of a sudden on one project it began stopping at 66%. Now I can't get any of my project to get past 66%. I have tried to paste it into a new project. I have tried adding a still to the menu.

  • Premiere Pro 1.5 does not complete DVD burn

I have Premiere Pro 1.5 installed on a laptop running Vista Business. It is a Sony VGN-Z laptop with the following specs:
    Operating System
MS Windows Vista Business 64-bit SP2
    CPU
                            Intel Mobile Core 2 Duo P9700  @ 2.80GHz
                            Penryn 45nm Technology
    RAM
                            4.0GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 531MHz (7-7-7-20)
    Motherboard
                            Sony Corporation VAIO (N/A)
    Graphics
                            Nvidia Defaul @ 1600x900

    Optical Drives
                            MATSHITA BD-MLT UJ232AS
    Audio
                            Realtek High Definition Audio
I always turn off all other applications including virus software, disconnect from the internet, and set the laptop power to max performance which does not let the laptop go to sleep and so on.
So far I have only used it to create DVDs from clips uploaded from Mini DV tape recorded on a Sony HC-96 camcorder. The only problem I have encountered is that the burn to disc does not complete. There are no errors or other messages when this happens. The burned disc will play on the Sony laptop in media player, but not play on any other PC or DVD player.
If I then make a “copy” of the disc to a blank DVD+R disc, the copy of the DVD plays fine on other PCs and DVD players. It seems that the original disc created does not close properly.
Does anyone have any suggestions how to solve this?

    First, some reading

  • TS3694 how do i stop getting an error message 4002 -- itunes unable to complete my transaction?  message is false -- i can do transactions.

Had a persistent itunes error message on my old Macbook -- 4002 unable to complete your transaction -- which came up every time I start itunes.  But the message was false.  I can buy music from the store.  Bought a new macbook pro and transferred my files over to it.  Now get the same error message on my new machine.  How do I make this go away?  Thanks.

    Hi, Kenny.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
There are a couple things that I would recommend trying.  Try closing all open applications and power cycle the device.  Next, go through the section labeled Troubleshoot issues on an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch in the second article below.  If the issue persists, try completely signing out of the iTunes Store on the iOS device and sign back in.  Be sure to test downloading an application after each step.

  • DVD burning not working after upgrading to 10.5.1

    Hi,
I just purchased a macbook and found that dvd burning stopped working after upgrading to mac os 10.5.1. I went back to 10.5 and now it works without problems. Since so far I haven't experience problems with 10.5, I will continue using it.
Anyway, I just wanted to let other users know about this problem. I didn't find any references about it in the forum.
    Best wishes,
    Manuel

    Hi,
I just got DVD burning to work under 10.5.1. I had originally formatted the OS-X partition as "case sensitive". Today I reformatted the partition as a regular Mac-os journaled partition, re-installed leopard and the upgrade, and now DVD burning works fine. I am not 100% sure, but it seems that using the case sensitive format caused the problem.
