PSE9 and Organizer with my MAC.

I have been using PSE8 c/w Bridge CS4 with great success. The trial version of PSE9 seems to have a problem cataloging my existing files. About 15%-16% of my files will not load from the viewed folders, stating that nothing was imported due to damage, etc. These files are usually Canon RAW (CR2) files or jpegs that have been edited in Camera Raw 5.7 and are accessible from Bridge into PSE9 with no problem. Also, any file that has been saved with layers intact display some very interesting graphics when edited in PSE9. Panoramas display large multi-colored blocks unless the panorama is opened in PSE8 and flattened. Anyone else have a similar problem?

Issues reading and burning with superdrive (mac pro 1.1)

I am starting to experience a very annoying issue: the superdrive in my mac pro started to get bonk; not reading dvd that i burned some time ago with nero on pc; then it started to cause issues while burning with any software (finder, disk utility, toast on mac, and also nero and clonecd using parallels and bootcamp.
The drive in my machine is a IDE Optiarc AD-7170A (that should be either a NEC or a Sony; but either firmware is not recognized by the drive)
The media that i am using are MEmorex -R and DL +R; both of them were working just fine earlier ( i do not burn anything since 6-7 months ago).
Now this is what happens: I get errors while burning, but not while doing the simulation; the error appear at any speed (tried 2X and up); and i tried with ISO images, DMG, just dragging stuff from my desktop and the result is the same: no writing and error message right after the lead-in (i assume; since it stays on lead-in on toaster).
Using bootcamp and vista, with Nero; I get a calibration error; and if i use the built in feature to burn data in vista, i get an error too.
Now; I would give a shot to another brand of media (verbatim? TDK?); but the fact that i cannot burn anything in any OS with any software would be a clear sign that something is wrong either on the drive or on the firmware; hence my request of help to anyone that experienced this issue
- i cannot update the firmware (that i see as 1.N8); tried to go on the sony and nec sites and download their windows utility but no luck....the drive is not recognized; so i wonder if Apple has no way to let us update a firmware, what is the point of buying a superdrive instead of a normal dvd burner?
- if my drive is broken....can i buy any dvd-rw drive and stick it in my mac pro?

Thanks for the suggestion; I've installed a new dvd drive and now seems that everything is working fine!
I've also cleaned the old drive, taking it apart, and now at least i can use it as spare to read and burn in case that the new one would not work.

Sure. Install the latest version of iTunes on your PC, and just connect your iPod Touch to it, decline the prompt to autosync (the warning about losing your music), then go into the info tab, select sync contacts, and click apply. Your contacts will be transferred (both directions, i.e. the outlook contacts and your IPT contacts will be merged and the combined set will be present on both lists).

Hello, I recently dug up a windows PC computer for side projects, and I was able to get by using my wireless apple keyboard and mouse for my Mac mini, and then using a usb mouse for my PC, I want to eliminate the usb keyboard and mouse and just use the bluetooth keyboard. Both computers are usually on all the time, and the windows PC uses a bluetooth adapter. I can get my keyboard and mouse to work on both, but I have to sync them to whatever system I would like everytime I want to use it. Is there any solution that when I choose the Mac Mini my keyboard and mouse will work for the Mac mini, and when I choose my windows pc, the keyboard will only be used on windows without having to resync?

How do I sync my Calendar and Contacts with my Mac ?

How do I sync my Calendar and Contacts between my iPhone4 and my Mac ? It did until January. Now in iTunes the check box for syncing them is not present anymore. Instead I see the text "Your contacts are being synced over the air" (which doesn't happen). Exactly the same occurs w.r.t. Calendar. I do not understand why synchronisation was ok until January, but suddenly it doesn't work anymore.

I have exactly the same problem on my ipad. It is happening on only some contacts but, as with you, when I delete one of the contacts on the ipad, the second ipad contact and the contact on the imac are also deleted. This is even the case when I have differentiated the two contacts on the ipad and can see the one I have deleted on the ipad is not the same one as is then deleted on the imac.

Japanese display and scanner with US Mac

I live in Tokyo. I'm getting a US Mac Pro but hope to get the display and a scanner in Japan. I can get an HP copier that has an English menu. A local salesman said that you can switch to an English menu on the display, also. Would there be any problems hooking it up with an English Mac Pro? I was told by two sales people from two shops that a Japanese scanner, like the Epson 770 would not be compatible with an English Mac.(Pro) It is compatible with the Japanese version of Mac OS. I haven't asked this at the local Apple Store, yet. Can anyone living in Japan offer any advice?
Also, is there any store in Tokyo that sells export models of scanners?

I am also using the Belkin Flip (not the Mini Flip), and it works fine. It also supports audio so I can use the Altec Lansing speakers that I have for my PC. I have a Compaq 7020 17" LCD monitor.
The only "issue" I have is that it takes Windows a couple of seconds to recognize the switch TO it has taken place. You hear that "bleep" sound that tells you it recognizes something has been connected. The mini works immediately after switching.
Other than that, no problems here - highly recommended.

Syncing Contacts and Calendar with a Mac/Parallels/Outlook Set Up

I have a MacBook Pro. All of my contacts and my calendar are in Outlook 2007, which I access via Parallels, on which I run Windows 7. (Changing this set up, specifically my reliance on Outlook 2007, is not a viable option for me.) I need to figure out a way to sync my contacts and ideally also my calendar with my new iPhone 4, which syncs with my computer via iTunes on my Mac OS. Any help, or pointers towards relevant articles or posts, would be greatly, greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

When you installed office 2007 did you reinstall iTunes? This may be necessary because the iTunes installation adds a plug-in to Outlook to manage the sync. You may have to completely remove iTunes, reboot, then reinstall it. See: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925?viewlocale=en_US
