PSE9 for MAC: editing an element changes timestamp in organizer

Usining PSE9 for MAC, with OSX 10.6.8
Choosing option "Edit with Photoshop Elements" for a photo in organizer, the time stamp is moved back by 1 hours (even before the editor starts).
Any suggestion for avoid this problem?

Everything you do to the audio in GB is an instruction - effects and edits show in the display and are heard in playback but the original is left untouched (so you can always undo anything). Only when you export are effects and edits applied permanently to the resultant file.

What 99jon said, is true. However, you can't open a PSE 8/windows catalog with PSE 12/mac. You would need to update the windows machine to at least PSE 9 (In your case, of course PSE 12 would be the logical version), then do a full organizer backup to a removable drive using the organizer command, and then restore that to the mac. What you've done won't work, not if you want to keep your tags and categories.
Also, if you're asking about buying an upgrade version, 9 times out of 10 you can find the full version of PSE for less than adobe's upgrade price if you shop around.

Book specifically for Mac using Photoshop Elements 4

Hello - I don't think this is the correct forum but I'm at a loss as to where else to put it. I purchased Photoshop Elements 4 a year ago and have yet to find a companion book that is specifically for a Mac. The books that claim to be for both are certainly not. Does anyone have a resource? I've checked Amazon and online resources with no luck. Thanks for feedback. Tami

Well, the editor is identical on both platforms, so it's mostly a question of substituting command for ctrl and option for alt and ignoring everything about the organizer.
You know, PSE 3 isn't that much different for macs (the big changes in PSE 4 were mostly in the windows organizer and the disabling of the ability of a lot of popular add-on tools), so you could go to your library and see if they have any PSE 3 books that cover both platforms. Most PSE 3 books did, since both platforms came out simultaneously back then.

Word 2011 for Mac editing text in text boxes

This may be in the wrong forum, but I couldn't find a better choice.
I'm using Word 2011 for Mac, and I downloaded an Avery template for blank business cards. When I type in the card (table cell), it makes it a text box. The problem I am experiencing is that I can go back and edit some, but not all, of the text boxes. When I click on a cell, I get the text box handles. Right clicking gives me a pop up menu, and on SOME of the boxes, one option is "edit text". Others, however, don't give me that option. What am I doing wrong, or is there another way to go about this?

Confused about Office for Mac editions...

I'm about to pull the plug and order Office 2004 for Mac. A few internet sites offer the following progams...
Office 2004 for Mac Home & Student Edition
Others don't offer this edition, but do offer...
Office 2004 for Teachers and Student Edition
The latter edition is a couple of dollars less and MORE available from places I usually shop. I'm really pointing toward taking advantage of MS free upgrade to Office 2008 Special Media Edition. Does anyone know if there is some hoop I have to jump through if I buy the "Teacher" edition? It looks to me that they are the same thing. What I DON'T want to happen is for MS to tell me I'm not eligible for the free upgrade to the '08 edition because I'm not a teacher or a student (except of life.)

You may be right that there is no 2004 "Home"' Office edition available for sale although as I pointed out, there are web stores selling what they claim is this edition.
At the site below, you can pre-order the 2008 "Home" edition for around $130. The box showed clearly states that it is the "Home" edition. I'm still confused, but I guess I'll just order the Amazon edition and be done with it. When I bought my MacBook late last month, the store was selling what they said was the 2004 Office version for $150 and at the time, they claimed that I would get a free update in early January when the new version came out. I would rather get the free full "super" 2008 edition upgrade when it is available, but I don't want to get into "no-man's" land if I have the so-called "Teachers-Student" and MS says no because I'm not a teacher or a student.

Force Outlook for Mac 2011 accept iCal changes

I am trying to delete duplicates in Outlook and iCal on my MacBook Pro and my iPhone. I can delete duplicates on the Mac, but then they sync back to their duplicates and conform to Outlook. How do I change it so that iCal is the source for the changes?

What organizer is better for Mac, iPhoto or Elements 12?

This is somewhat of a re-post because I could not find a way to respond to a reply.
Right now I have duplicate libraries and want to go to one Library. I am trying to figure out the best way to go. It looks like I can get the same kind of organization as in the Elements organizer with iPhoto Smart Albums but I didn't know if I could import PSD files to iPhoto and Barbara B. says that iPhoto does not like PSD files.
So if I want to be able to save in PSD I need to stay with the Elements Organizer and Editor.
To make my best decision I want to know what I am loosing in general Macbook utility if I eliminate iPhoto and go with the Elements Organizer. I have only had my Mac for a few months but I see that iPhoto drops photos in programs like Keynote very easily. If I stay with the Elements Organizer will I loose some utility or will I be able to drag and drop everything I need to simply?
I am asking the question because I have space problems with my 9K photos now. I only want to delete one of these libraries once and want to make the right choice.

Well, the right one is the one that works best for you. I'll start by saying that in real life I don't use either one, because I dislike asset management programs, so I have no dog in this fight.
The advantages of iphoto are that it's much better integrated into OS X, has much nicer options for slideshows and projects, and is generally a more polished performer than organizer.
The advantages of organizer are that you can save as many versions as you like, that your photos aren't in a proprietary library (you can just file>open in any program to get at an organizer photo), and it gives you more options for working with raw.
There are advantages and disadvantages to both. Two other options to consider would be aperture and lightroom, too.
It's not something that anyone can answer for you. It depends so much on how you like to work.

How to exchange downloaded (but not activated) Windows version for Mac Prem. Elements 13

Purchased an online version of Premier Elements and inadvertently ordered a Windows version rather than Mac version. Their customer support deals with hard copies - not online downloaded purchases and their "chat" keeps saying close browser and start new chat. You do that and it says the same thing. No phone numbers or way to communicate my issue of simply getting a Mac version rather than a Windows version to download! Any suggestions?

Look for this file or folder on your machine:
"<Macintosh HD>/Library/Fonts/MyriadWebPro-Italic.ttf"
Is there a folder named MyriadWebPro-Italic inside the Fonts folder? Is the file MyriadWebPro-Italic.ttf already existing within this folder?
In both the cases, delete this file/folder and try to install PSE again.

Is there a limit to usage with PSE9 for mac trial?

I downloaded the trial copy of PSE
9 to see if I liked it before upgrading from 6.
I started importing picture files and a few scrapbook element files and it worked fine. So I started importing more pictures and the whole thing crashed. I tried shutting down and restarting but the trial version will not let me in. When I click on the Organize button the screen flickers and then crashes.
I wouldn't have a problem purchasing the full version because the Organizer version far out performs Bridge but I am nervous that it can't support all my pictures and digi files.
Is this crashing issue due to the fact that I'm only in trial mode?

You may try the following steps but if it still fails with same errors then your installer might be corrupt -
1) Uninstall the incomplete installation (Uninstall shortcut can be found at /Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers/)
2) Ensure no such file or directory is present after un-installation "/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Photoshop Elements/9.0/Photo Creations/frames/Element_Panoramic Frame.psd". In case it is present rename/delete it.
3) Reboot the machine
4) Copy the installer locally to your machine (if running from disc) and try to install again

Premiere Elements 9 for Mac export help

Hey, I made a video on Premiere Elements 9 for Mac and it won't let me export it. The export option under "File" is blocked and won't let me click on it. Any way for me to export this thing, because I kind of need this video.

I think you must have had a long day Steve - as it says in your book (page 274) you can select the clip in the Organize Project pane and then use File> Export> Title to save it out as a .prtl file. It does however seem that the option to select the Title in the Timeline, and then use Export, has been removed.
[EDIT] I've only just noticed the question relates to the Mac version, so it may well be that there are no Title exports for Mac [/EDIT]

Where do I install the Camera Raw plug in for Mac?

I'm not sure my question relates to Elements, but here goes:
I recently installed CS4 for Mac and have Elements as well. When opening Adobe Acrobat I keep getting a message from Adobe that it has an update for Camera Raw and I choose to install it. However, I invariably get a message that Camera Raw cannot be found on my computer. Should it have been part of the CS4 installation I made, part of Elements, and now somehow it's not there? I have downloaded the 4.6 Camera Raw update and have the plug in on my desktop, but I'm not sure where I should install it? Whether I should or should not install it? Whether there's a Camera Raw application that missed the installation process?
As you see, I'm pretty much in the dark as to this Camera Raw deal. Any tips from someone out there?

Elements can never, never update ACR automatically the way bridge and PS CS can. You need to download and install the plug-in manually and you need to be sure you have the correct version for PSE. You can find it here:

You don't say which version of PSE you have, but most versions can use a newer plug-in than the list states ( you can use the latest version in PSE 6, for example).
If you have PSE 6 or 8, bridge will autoupdate the plug-in if you go to Help>Updates.
