PSE9 Organizer Different thab PSE8

In Windows PSE8 Organizer when you are in the Thumbnail View mode, and thumbnails are totally minimalized, you can grab the bar on the right side of the thumbnail viewing area and navigate from date file to date file. I find that this feature is not in PSE9 ...unless my set up is wrong. How do I get the bar to work the same in 9 as in PSE8?

You can view the differences in PSE 8 and 9 here http://prodesigntools.com/version-compare-difference-between-photoshop-elements-9-8-7-6.ht ml. We welcome your feedback on the products. Please log a feedback or bug from link https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform

  • Time stamp in PSE9 organizer messed up?

    Hi,
I am presently using PSE8 which I like a lot, but am also trying out PSE9 Trial. I have found some anomalies when it comes to the time stamp in PSE 9 Trial.
I know I have a 1 h difference between my camera, Canon 40D, and my computer due to inaccurate daylight savings time in my camera. Normally I shoot in RAW+JPEG mostly except for the sports program when only JPEG is used. I use Win 7 x64 Ultimate.
In organizer the timestamp for Date Time Original and Date Time Digitized are correct for the RAW-files, but when it comes to JPEG I have a mix of correct and 1 h changed time stamps. How can this be?
I have double checked in ACDSee and in Windows Photo Gallery and there the time stamps are correct. Maybe there is an explanation for this behavior, but until then it seems like a bug to me. My plan was to buy PE 9, but this makes me hesitant.
I would appreciate an explanation or a confirmation that this is a bug.

    Hi,
Thank you for your response. I agree with your conclusion. I looked into the changes a little bit more after your mail and found that .jpg files that had not been altered i.e rotated prior importing to PSE 9 did not change. I rotate my .jpg pictures "lossless" in acdsee.
I have used PSE8 with the same procedure, but there everything works fine.
I enclose a few samples, if I can send the raw-files, Canon .cr2, due to size. Views from picture sorting in PSE9/ACDsee/Windows Live Photo Gallary are also enlosed.
    Best regards,
    TK

Subject: Time stamp in PSE9 organizer messed up?
    Hi,
Organizer handles the daylight savings time and hence it would make corrections automatically. So if a file is present in the catalog that has date stamp which falls under the day light savings period, then Organizer make the corrections automatically. So the 1 hour gap may be happening because of the same reason.
Though the problem which appears to me is that the same should happen for raw files as well.
It would be good if you could give some more information any set of files X.jpg and its corresponding raw file , say X.nef. Please share the date time stamps of both raw and jpegs for the same images files (Date Time Original and Date Time Digitized).
Also share your timezone information and if you have taken any of those pictures from a different timezone.

  • PSE9: Organizer -- Update metadata as changes are made

In the new version of Organizer, is there any way to set it to immediately update the metadata when I modify or add keywords to a photo?  As it stands now, Organizer will rewrite all metadata for any photos currently displayed, whether they have been modified or not.   This is different from PSE8 with Bridge and Lightroom. They both had options to update photos immediately after metadata was altered.

i don't think that there is way to do it automatically unlike Lightroom

  • Black images in PSE9 organizer?

I recently scanned some old B&W prints to TIFF files but they only show as black images in PSE9 organizer although they appear normally in the editor. Files that don't appear are all less than 1Mb file size. Any suggestions about how to have these images appear properly in the organizer would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

Here are the release notes for PSE9:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/861/cpsid_86152.html#main_Photoshop Elements Organizer notes
    Specifically, this section (emphasis added):
    Organizer thumbnails:
If an image has been rotated in an application other than Photoshop Elements 9, update the thumbnail before printing or using the image in a creation to ensure that the images appear properly rotated. To update the thumbnail, select the image(s) and choose Update Thumbnail or Update Thumbnail for Selected Items in the Edit menu.
Some TIFF files and files that use uncommon color profiles may appear black or as generic thumbnails in the Organizer. To fix this, select the file, and choose File Export As New File(s). This will save the file with the supported set of file tags required by the Organizer to show the thumbnails.
Very large files appear with generic thumbnails. For example, panoramas created with Photomerge Panorama return multiple layers, which, when saved, creates very large files. To make thumbnails visible in the Organizer, consider saving panorama files as flattened JPEG images
Files that are not supported in the Organizer look like broken thumbnail icons. You can import these files by saving an album containing a file in an unsupported format, using the Photoshop Elements Editor, or importing files not supported by the Organizer, using Premiere Elements.

  • QtNetwork4.dll missing so PSE9 Organizer won't start

I downloaded a trial copy of Photoshop CS5, which worked fine. However, I decided I was happy with PSE. Unfortunately, when I tried to open PSE 9's Organizer I got the message "Program can't start because QtNetwork4.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem." First thing I did was uninstall CS5, but the missing message still appears when I try to open the Organizer. I'm not real keen on uninstalling and reinstalling PSE 9, but I'll do it if necessary. Does anyone have any ideas about how I can replace QtNework4.dii without a reinstall? Many thanks.

I don't know if anyone cares (and why would one if one is not experiencing the same problem?), but what I did to solve the problem was go to a friend who also has PSE 9 on his computer and copy the QtNetwork4.dll file, which is buried in C://Program://Adobe://PSE9 Organizer. I then installed the file on my computer in the same place and Organizer opened again. Et voila!

  • PSE9 Organizer will not open after deleting LTR3

After deleting my registered LTR3 today and am  now unable to open the previously installed and registered PSE9 Organizer program. PSE9 does open to the desktop "Welcome to PSE9" page. The EDIT program will open, the ORGANIZER will not. Howerer, the Organizer does appear in the lower taskbar and will open to a thumbnail but not to an open program for use. Help anyone?
    Thanx, Stv.

Bypass the Unwelcome Screen by creating Desktop shortcuts for the Organizer and the Editor, and restarting your computer.
    The Editor's executable is:
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 10\PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe"
    The Organizer's executable is:
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Elements 10 Organizer\PhotoshopElementsOrganizer.exe"
The Unwelcome Screen leaves a zombie process running which prevents the actual program from launching again.

  • PSE9 organizer wont start

My PSE9 organizer wont start. When I select organizer from the welcome screen it immediately goes back to the desktop.
I'm running Vista Home premium SP2. The product was working OK until about a week ago but now wont open.
I have renamed the PSA file and the Status.dat file but no help
I have tried to get to catalog manager by CTRL-Shift on selecting organizer from the welcome screen but it just goes back to the desktop.
The Editor appears to work but I can't access Organizer from there either--nothing happens.
    Any ideas for me???
    Thanks

When I go to C>program files>Adobe>photoshop elements 9.0 I can find an .exe file for editor but not for organizer
    where would it be located?
When I hit Ctrl-Alt-del and then click organizer from the welcome screen it just goes back to my desktop
anything else to try--I'm getting a bit frustrated
edit--I did find the organizer.exe file and made a shortcut on the desktop. The program still wont open with that either

  • Is PSE9 Organizer compatable with PSE6 Bridge?

I've just bought PSE9 to update my PSE6. When I install PSE9, will the files in PSE6 Bridge transfer to PSE9 Organizer or will I lose them?
    Thank you, Steve

No files are "in" Bridge. Bridge is just a file browser: it shows you the current state of any folder you point it at. If you mean will you lose your metadata keywords, no those are written into the files themselves, so no worries there. You will lose any stacks, though. You can continue to use PSE 6 bridge with PSE 9 if you don't like organizer, also. You just won't have a button in PSE itself for launching it.
If you want to remove PSE 6, it's maybe best to do that first before installing PSE 9, since the way the installer for PSE 6 is written, it removes some shared files, so if you decide to remove it later, you'll need to reinstall PSE 9 afterwards (this won't affect your photos in any way, though).

  • Pse9 organizer tag filter error

When I filter for a given tag (a person's name in the case in question) the Organiser throws up masses of images which do not carry the tag I am using for my search/filter. I've looked at the filenames and metadata of the erroneous 'hits' but cannot find anything which would explain these mis-hits apart from the fact that they are photos taken around the same time. I've fiddled with the 'Options/Hide best match' criteria without success.
How can I force the PSE9 organizer to simply show me the photos tagged with the tag I check ?

    Hi Ken,
Will look around and report back. I may start a new thread, e.g. "Alternatives to PSE Organizer" and see whether it whacks anything out of the woodwork. There are numerous threads on this subject but they are all outdated.
Basically I need an organizer which
meshes well with PSE, can thumbnail .PSD files, etc.
    uses a robust database
allows me to store tags, dates, etc in the file metadata as well as in the database (so that the info "travels with" the file if I send it anywhere and is there as a backup if the database becomes corrupted)
    is user-friendly
has good support (I used to use Thumbs Plus but Cerious seems to have relegated its support to the YOYO (You're On Your Own, bud !) category.
doesn't slow down the computer too much with background housekeeping, trawling of folders, etc
doesn't arm-twist me to upgrade every few months ("Upgrade for only $49 !...........Support for legacy versions will be terminated as of 30-Apr-2012....")
is stand-alone on my own computers and doesn't share my images or metadata with the "cloud" or social websites or any other phagocytic or predatory  elements in cyberspace
Windows Live Photo Viewer is (for me) difficult to navigate. Right now I'm looking at ACDSee 14 (www.acdsee.com).
Watch this space, as they say !
    Paddy
A quick P.S. to this. I've been trying out ACDSee 14 today (downloaded the trial version). So far so good. Interface takes a bit of getting used to but that's because it is not dumbed down and allows one to fine-tune searches etc. Editing of metatags is very limited (one has to buy the Pro version for that and the Pro version is $200+) but that's not a problem because Microsoft's free Pro Photo Tools has excellent batch metatagging facilities, including IPTC. Anyway, I just wanted to let you know at this stage that
ACDSee 14 stores thumbnails and database information for images contained on CDs or other removable media as Photo Discs. You can then browse the thumbnails and view the information for those images even when the disc is not in your CD-ROM drive and
ACDSee 14 interfaces with PSE9 in that one can simply drag a thumbnail from ACDSee into PSE and edit the file.

  • PSE9 Organizer has changed completely...need help

I have used PSE9 Organizer for some time....when I opened it tonight there is nothing on the right side, but on the left side is a column with list of all the folders in my Picture Library.  Tags and albums are all gone.  What could have happened?

Thank you…. I found the Organize Tab, along with Fix, Create and Share…and Organize is selected. I could not find any other  tab you mention, but I did find a button, “Display”, and when I changed that to Thumbnail View, all the images come back…but no Tags, Albums or anything on the right side.  The Left Side column disappeared.  So I still don’t have my tags.
My Organizer is a bit of a mess, pictures that I really don’t want in it….I just installed PSE11 and have not done anything with the Organizer in that…just looking at all the changes in the whole program.   Is it best to import the catalog from PSE9 into PSE11, or should I start over and just import those images I want into the Organizer….I want to be able to “Tag” the pictures….I had done hundreds and hundreds in PSE9….I am really at a loss to know what to do since the Tags have disappeared.  Thank you for your help…sure hope I can somehow find the Tags I have done.  I am a “senior dummie” and just learning this wonderful program. Thanks again.

  • PSE9 Organizer quits working

Lately the PSE9 Organizer has been somewhat unstable.  It quits working while I'm applying keyword tags to images.  I haven't made any substantial changes to my system recently.
My system's information is below.  Any assistance or suggestions would be welcome.

    Hi,
I would first try to repair and optimize your catalog.
From the File menu, select Catalog - that should open the Catalog Manager.
Select you current catalog and click on the Repair button
When that has finished, click on the Optimize button
When that is done, click on Cancel to close the Catalog Manager.
Try doing some work to see if that has cured the crashing.

  • PSE9 could not convert PSE8 organizer database... help

    Hi,
After installing PSE9 I launched the organizer and it immediately began converting the database (it has around 9,000 pics).  After a long while it said it could not convert the database (I don't remember the exact error message wording).  I only tryed it once because it was late at night.
Are there any known issues with this?
Would it help to Optimize and/or fix the database in PSE8 before trying to convert it?
    What should I do?
    Thanks for your comments/help

    saurabh,
    Thanks for your suggestion.
I only had Face Recognition turned on. I went ahead and turned it off in PSE8 and I was then able to convert the database!!
But after that, it automatically brought a popup message saying:
    Restoring People Recognition Data...
and a progress bar that goes only to 2%.  After that the program becomes irresponsive. When I click on anything, I get the grey screen and the W7 message asking me if I want to close the application and search for a solution.
I restarted the PC and tryed again, I open the organizer and see my thumbs and again, automatically got the popup with the exact same results... it gets stuck at 2%.  I left it overnight and it never moved past 2%.
    Please help...
Correction: my database actually has 15,000 photos and videos (not 9,000 as said before) maybe 99.9% photos and only a few videos.

  • PSE9 Organizer File Order display

Before PSE9 if I chose to display the images in file order it did just that, no more.
In PSE9 displaying the images in file order imposes a selection on the images, So, if choose to look at a particular folder the it selects the files in that folder to the exclusion of files in all other folders.
In this screenshot I have clicked on a folder which has 17 files in it. It says at the bottom left of the screen that it has 'selected' 17 images out my 16000 files.
Now here is the same display in PSE8
The same 17 files from that folder are displayed, but them so are the ones in the following folder and I could scroll down through all 16000 of them without needing to select another folder. Note that there is no mention of 17 files having been selected at the bottom left hand corner.
All I specified was a display order, not a selection of which files to display.
It seems that in PSE9 if I want to select images from an assigned tag the only way it can be done is to display the images in date order in the tagged files are in different folders. This is useless.
Please can anyone explain the logic in this 'update'?

I would love to go back to PSE8 as it worked perfectly.
Unfortunately I bought a new Nikon D7000 and PSE8 does not recognize it.
I was informed that I needed PSE9 to use my new Nikon.
Here is my post to a response that claimed I needed to do a 10-14 step workaround for an issue :
I realize that I sounded extremely negative BUT I have had Photo Elements since 2001.
I Never had a problem with any part of the software.
To me the main reason that individuals like me get Elements is because of its ease to work with compared to PhotoShop.
Let me list the problems that I am having :
    Bridge
    (1) The thumbnails do not show the picture
    (2)  You cannot attach to an email from Bridge.
    (3)  It now lists the file by date not consecutive numbering.
I contacted Nikon and they say it is a software issue not the camera.
    Organizer :
    (1)
It takes over an hour to load a picture from Elements (after you do a PP, even a simple crop) into organizer and it renders Organizer useless during the load process.
A window drops and says "Element Organizer is currently busy and cannot process the request".
Sometimes it shows the picture and says : "edit in progress" with a Lock symbol.
If you wanted to share or do anything else in Organizer you are stuck until it transfer the picture.
    (2)
The email size has issues :
Big, medium level (slide bar with numbers) : never loads and I have to force quit Organizer and Mail
Very Big, medium level: looks like a postage stamp or never loads
Medium, any level size is Ok and what I have to use.
    (3)
When I send a picture via email from Organizer from my ATT email address after it sends it, it puts it back in my MAC mail draft box.
I have to delete it and close mail out otherwise if I only delete it, it reappears again in the draft box.
    (4)
I have not tried any of the other features, Facebook etc, Heaven only knows what else I would encounter.
    (5) Periodic crashes of Organizer while in it.
    (6)
The Notion that previously went from RAW edit to PSE for PP and the adjusted pictured stayed in Bridge or where I wanted to put it and now
Adobe decided that you need to use Bridge for RAW edit into PSE and then into another program (Organizer) is not the simplistic way it was originally designed for people like me.
    (7)
These issues occur with both RAW and jPeg files.
In the past several PSE always had a separate MAC version that came out several months after the windows version.
This time they consolidated the versions and I am concerned that this was a mistake that is leading to these issues.
I am a MAC User and bought a new DLSR Nikon D7000, Which Adobe told me that I would have to upgrade to PSE 9 to allow Adobe to work with the D7000.
I am guessing that there are too many issues here and Adobe should have check any MAC issues and issued a separate software package.
If anyone from Adobe reads these posts and gets PSE 9 to work with a combined MAC and D7000 or just corrects their issues contact me so I can use this program again as I have used for 10 years with any issues.
Otherwise I will have to after the holidays be forced to look for new software.
Again I state that PSE was the easiest software I could use and now it is a nightmare.
I decided to drag and drop out of PSE to the desktop and load them in iPhoto and email from there.
    Goodbye ORGANIZER !
    Greg
I am not going to spend hours trying all kinds of gimmicks and 10 step workarounds which as a person with limited computer skills will only get into deeper trouble.  I am already tired and frustrated spending the amount of time with this.
    Greg
