PSEv4: Templates for creating album pages

My wife and I just got PSEv4, and have been having fun with the creation tools --specifically the photo album page creator.
But (there's always a but)...
We're already feeling like the templates available are limiting, and would like to have more options. So here's the question(s):
Is there somewhere to download new templates that work with PSE?
Is there a way to create templates that work with PSE?

Sorry but I do not know of any source for additional downloads or any directions for making your own templates that fit within the structure of the Album pages Creations of the Organizer.
Under the Organizer
Edit > Preferences > Services there is a button for Update Creations. Adobe has occasionally released additional templates; some of these have been for specific holiday templates. However, they still will be very limited.
The Full Photo No Border style of the Album Pages creation allows you more flexibility in positioning and sizing both the photos and the text - but it is basically a blank page with no decorations.
Now if instead, you use the Elements Editor blank canvas to make cards, you can totally customize what you use for decoration on the printed pages. You might search within these forums for methods of making cards within the Elements Editor.

institute for the individual pages I create in the photo album. Is
it possible to create a template for these pages (the pages you go
to when you click on the thumbnail on the contact sheet) rather
than going in and applying css files and other items after they've
been created?
Any help is much appreciated.

How to change page template for a single page?

I create a new document based on the Pages "Reports > Business Report".
Now the first page is formatted as a "Cover" page with a larger top margin.
Via "Format > Advanced > Manage Pages..." I see there are what I assume are the "Page Templates":
- Cover
- Table of Contents
- Chapter Page
- Text Page
- Appendix
My question: How can I change the template for a single page in my document? E.g. I don't want Page #1 to be formatted as "Cover". I'd like it to be a "Text Page".
Any hints?

Just delete the Cover section and insert a Text Page.
Click on:
+Toolbar > View > Page Thumbnails+
Click on the Cover thumbnail, it will be outlined in yellow, hit delete.
It may start off with certain defaults but you do not have to accept them.

Pages isn't a specific note taking application but rather a word processing and page layout application.

Unable to enforce a UI Template for a Dynamic Page

Hi,
I have a problem ,am unable to enforce a UI Template for a Dynamic page.As I want to modify the background color and font for the contents of the Dynamic page.I have tried to specify these in the htp functions,which works fine but when I expose the dynamic page as a portlet and drop it in a page ,the background color and font modifications do not show up.
Any idea as to how the modifications can be done to show up in the page?

Hi Lyn,
A quick search on 'strategic plan template' with my favourite web search engine came up with several. Most are boring and dry, not at all what I imagine you want. Even though the templates are for Microsoft Word, Pages will open them. Then you can be creative and adapt them.

Creating album page with both video and pics

recently switched from pc to mac. was using blogger and coppermine for online photo album but want to give this iweb thing a try... is there a way in iweb to create a page that has both video and pics? i tried uploading my album but it only transferred the pics.

Yes, you can do this. Just throw in the thumbnail pics of your video with the rest of your photos. Then put your real videos on separate movie pages. Then back to your photo page...you need to make the hyperlinks. So what you need to do is to create little rectangle shapes that fit over the video thumbnails, attach hyperlinks to the respective movie pages, then using the Inspector Graphics tab make the rectangle shapes 1% opacity so that the underlying thumbnail shows through. This is the overlay trick to get the hyperlink working.

What is the best practice for creating master pages and styles with translated text?

I format translated text all the time for my company. I want to create a set of master pages and styles for each language and then import those styles into future translated documents. That way, the formatting can be done quickly and easily.
What are the best practices for doing this? As a company this has been tried in the past, but without success. I'd like to know what other people are doing in this regard.

I create a master template that is usually void of content, with the exception I define as many of the paragraph styles I believe can/will be used with examples of their use in the body of the document--a style guide for that client. When beginning a new document for that client, I import those styles from the paragraph styles panel.
Exception to this is when in a rush I begin documentation first, then begin new work. Then in the new work, I still pull in those defined paragraph and or object styles via their panels into the new work.
There are times I need new styles. If they have broader applicability than a one-off instance or publication, then I open the style template for that client and import that style(s) from the publication containing the new style(s) and create example paragraphs and usage instructions.

Adding additional albums on already-create album page in iWeb??

Hello,
I have a web site already created in iweb and there is an album page with multiple albums. I am wondering now, how do I create another album on this page? I have the photos on my desktop (NOT in iphoto) that I want to add, and simply want to create an additional album on the page and drag these images into it.
Does anyone have any advice? This seems like it should be easy but I cannot figure it out, and appreciate any insight! Thanks!

Using a letterhead template for a multi-page document

When using a letterhead template for a multipage document, how do I turn off the template for pages after the first page? I do not want to have the letterhead show up on every page of a letter.

You can set new margins for your new section in the Layout Inspector. After removing the letterhead elements open the Layout Inspector, choose the Layout tab and set the margins as you need them.
Once you've created and formatted the section to your liking, make it a permanent part of your template.
1. With the cursor on the second page, go to Format>Advanced>Capture Pages
2. Give the page a descriptive name, such as 'Second Page'. Include 'First page only.'
3. Click 'Ok.'
This 'Second Page' is now listed under the "Sections" icon on your toolbar.
4. Save the document as a template.
Now, whenever you start a new document based on this template add the second page using the Section Icon.
There is a shortcoming to this method in that text will not flow from the first page to the second, given that there is a section break between the two pages. This would be the case even in Word. Of course, even in Word you could not change the margins for the second page without also changing the margins for the first page unless you used a section break.
One way to avoid this problem is to but your address block for the first page into a page high text box and allow text to wrap around it. You can keep the same margins for the first and second page, but on the first page the text will be pushed over to the right. When it wraps to the second page, the text will return to the left margin.

Is there a template for creating structured questionnaires?

I'm trying to create a questionnaire where selecting a particular answer to a question would automatically 'jump' the user to the next relevant question, so they don't have to wade through lots of irrelevant questions. I'd also like to add guidance notes to each question. Is there a template that will allow me to do this? If not, how can I create such an interactive PDF?

What product do you have for creating forms? There are some templates in FormsCentral (which is retiring in July). And Acrobat XI includes the FormsCentral Desktop app, so you can access the templates from there as well (choose File > Create > Create Form, and then choose From Template to browse the available templates. If you don't find one that you like, you can create one from scratch. Here's some information about setting up conditional form fields, which is what I think you are asking about in your first sentence above: FormsCentral Help | Edit field properties
