  • 3D annotations and File format Conversion

    I am writing a plug-in for Acrobat Extended Pro that will export embedded 3D files in other formats. I only have access to a U3D converter right now but Acrobat saves some files in their PRC format. Is there some way to have Acrobat convert PRC files into U3D?
    Thank you in advance for your help.

    I've figured everything out. The problem I was having was because I was using fwrite() in text mode instead of binary mode. :p
    For anyone reading this later, this is how you convert from PRC -> U3D and back:
    1) load the Acrobat 3D Dll (A3DLIB.dll) and do all of the initializations.
    2) Then, load the PRC file with the function A3DAsmModelFileLoadFromFile().
    3) Then take the model structure you get back and pass it to A3DAsmModelFileWriteToFile(). The A3DAsmModelFileWriteParametersData * parameter will contain the format specifier.
    You can save these files as either PRC, U3D version 1 or U3D version 3.
    Look here for the full docs: http://livedocs.adobe.com/acrobat_sdk/9/Acrobat9_HTMLHelp/API_References/PRCReference/3D_ API_Reference/index.html

  • Supported file format for MS translation via API call

    Hi,
    I am evaluating MS Translator APIs and I have a couple of questions.
    (1) What kind of file formats does MS Translator supports?
    (2) Is there any code sample to translate the file(instead of just the string text) by calling the API?
    Thanks.
    Wei

    Hi Wei,
    (1) The supported text formats are plain text and HTML.
    (2) Such a sample is not part of our provided documentation. The leading TM tools which offer integration with the Microsoft Translator service offer a variety of file format conversions.

    I have come across the same issue.  Try calling the FTP_COMMAND function module to make it go into ASCII mode before your FTP the file, like this:
    data: result type table of text with header line.
    call function 'FTP_COMMAND'
        exporting
          handle        = hdl
          command       = 'ascii'
        tables
          data          = result
        exceptions
          tcpip_error   = 1
          command_error = 2
          data_error    = 3.
      call function 'FTP_R3_TO_SERVER'
        exporting
          handle         = hdl
          fname          = docid
          character_mode = 'X'
        tables
          text           = gt_your_table .

  • Which conversion software can I download to mac to convert outlook .pst files to mac .mbox files?

    Can anyone recommend software I can ddownload to an iMac to convert outlook .pst files stored on a memory stick to .mbox files for transfer to mac mail?  I have mail files I set up in outlook I need to transfer to my new mac, but have no internet connection on pc, so can't download anything on to it and have had to export .pst files to a usb stick.

    Will I be able to get my (Mac sourced) songs and podcasts onto the IPOD from the sharing Windows computer?
    No, iTunes library sharing only allows you to listen to music in the shared library.
    Another question: is there any way to duplicate my actual song files to the Windows XP computer so that I don't have to turn on the Mac in order for itunes to function on the XP machine? All my song files are on the Mac.
    Yes, use the network to copy the files from the Mac to the PC.

  • Conversion of various file formats to PDF

    I need to convert files of different file formats like .doc, .pst, .xlx, .txt, gif, jpegs etc. to PDF.
    There are open source JAVA API available to do this eg. iText, and Faceless API. But they do not convert the file more accurately. How is it possible to do this using Java? Is there any other API available to do the same? How is it possible through Adobe Distiller APIs ?
    Some solution which I have found are converting those files first to PostScript and then using PDFWriter converting it to PDF. How good it is?? Can anybody give some idea on it??
    Any Suggestion / solutions will be welcome.

    Hi ,
    I am trying to Print RTF to PDF file and maybe there is a way by first converting RTF to PS and then printing PS using acrobat distiller ... but how do I specify the destination for the PDF file .
    I am trying to set the destination by this code -
    PrintRequestAttributeSet aset =
                   new HashPrintRequestAttributeSet();
                        aset.add(new Copies(1));
              try{
                   aset.add(new Destination(new URI("file:///foo/bar")));
              } catch (java.net.URISyntaxException uri) {
                   System.out.println( " URI exception "+ uri ) ;
    Is this how output is sent to PDF file ???
    Flavor is - DocFlavor flavor = DocFlavor.INPUT_STREAM.POSTSCRIPT;
    /* locate a print service that can handle it */
              PrintService[] pservices =
                   //PrintServiceLookup.lookupPrintServices(flavor, aset);
                        PrintServiceLookup.lookupPrintServices(flavor, aset);
              System.out.println( "what is the service found " +pservices.length );
    and I get the printer - Acrobat distiller and I print using this code -
    if (pservices.length > 0) {
                   System.out.println("selected printer " + pservices[0].getName());
                   /* create a print job for the chosen service */
                   System.out.println(" services found ");
                   DocPrintJob pj = pservices[0].createPrintJob();
                   try {
                        * Create a Doc object to hold the print data.

    Thanks for your response and yes I understand what you are saying. Maybe you could explain why "email users" hate HTML email with a passion.
    These tend to be technical users who have a more purist attitude about email. They prefer that email be text-only, and consider HTML formatting to be superfluous for most messages. And I do think they have a point. If you have 100 plain-text emails and 100 HTML emails, you will notice that the HTML emails take up noticeably more disk space. And if the HTML email senders have loaded down their default emails with background images, signatures with corporate logos and winmail.dat attachments and all manner of embedded ornamentation, and (I never even thought people went this far) animations, then a simple email reply like "Thanks! I'll see you this evening," ends up carrying an tremendous additional amount of file size and network bandwidth overhead just to carry those six words. It not only means more disk space consumed, but it ripples all through the system: More space is required for backing up and archiving your emails, plus more mail server space and network bandwidth are consumed per message. Purists see this as an incredible waste of resources.
    The message body of at text email can simply be "Thanks! I'll see you this evening."
    The HTML version, at a bare minimum, must be
    {html}
    {p}"Thanks! I'll see you this evening."{/p}
    {/html}
    (replaced angle brackets with curly brackets so Apple Forums won't try and format it)
    Already that's almost double the amount of characters required to send the message, just to format it in HTML. And that's if no fonts, styles, graphics, or media have been applied. If they are, the number of actual characters sent balloons dramatically.
    I'm in the middle. I don't hate HTML email, I'll even turn it on when I think formatting will help my message. But I like to use disk space efficiently, so I've set plain text as my default for sending messages.

    OLRENDZZZZ
    Example Explained:
    ==============
    Position 1-9 is a "Transactional number".
    Position 10-11 is "Record type".
    Position 12-13 is "Line Item count".
    Four record types exist:
    03 = Location header
    01 = Transactional Header
    02 = Line Item
    OLRENDZZZZ = EoF marker.
    The equal sign "=" is a field separator/delimiter.
    In each delimited field, after the first equal sign in the record, the first two characters represent a field qualifier/field name tag/identifier and there only the data begins until the following delimiter.
    Each record is ended in a "CLRF"/'nl'.
    The file is build up, but not locked and only completed until the EoF marker "OLRENDZZZZ" is inserted by the application on the last record of the file.
    My solution so far:
    =============
    Record Structure: row,*
    Record Sequence: Ascending
    row.fieldNames: field1,field2,field3,ect.......
    row.fieldSeparator: =
    row.endSeparator: 'nl'
    row.keyFieldInStructure: ignore
    ignoreRecordsetName: true
    This brings the file into the integation server as xml as follow:

         <row>
              <field1>OLRENDZZZZ</field1>
         </row>
    </ns:SAPtoFuelFACS>
    So far, so good.
    The problem I am having is that I have to check for the EoF marker "OLRENDZZZZ" to be present before picking up the file, else the file is not completed.
    I have tried a script to rename files in msg pre-processing in the channel, but the problem is the file channel has to be triggered and the original file mask is necessary for this, but then this mask is a valid pickup file mask. So to me it seems the only way is to do this is during the content conversion process as the files not matching the file criteria, where a EoF "OLRENDZZZZ" definition is not present, will not be picked up and be ignored until it is present or totally independent with a batch job.
    If someone has a more elegant way to solve this problem with just using the file channel configuration where every thing is pretty much apparent, I would greatly appreciate it if you could assist.
    Regards
    Willie Hugo

    The problem I am having is that I have to check for the EoF marker "OLRENDZZZZ" to be present before picking up the file, else the file is not completed.
    I suggest a script.
    Say The files are dropped in FolderA. Have a script transfer a file to FolderB only if it finds the EoF marker in a file. Thus FolderB will be what XI will poll and that will always have the complete file.
    Hope this sounds good!!!
