PSU 12v output

I get steady 11.55 12v output from psu and it drops to 11.43 under high cpu stress.  This has got to be unacceptable. I have new psu on the way. Enermax 460W 3.3v 35,
5v 35, 12v 33. Maybe that'll hold up the 12v rail. Then maybe I can run prime95 w/o failing. I expect it could be something else but psu is cheap one and can't find anything on net about it. That's why I'm replacing it.  Stress info readme file said inferior psu could cause problems if voltages dropped under load. I'll post on this when I replace psu and run test again.

ok, just wondering   becuase we sold a lot a lot a lot of axio cases at my shop up in    Fayettenam... and i thought maybe it was a coincidence or something, but i'm not sure who else sells Axio.
Anyway, the problem with Axio is, we stopped carrying thier PSUs/Cases... for two reasons really... first of all thier getting sued by RAIDMAX cuz thier top-end cases look almost identical... and second becuase thier PSUs are nothing to be longed for...
we'll see how the new brand turns out... but just giving you a little info on Axio...
(i think we got about 10 or so Axio cases left in stock, and after that thats it... no more... )
also, the model you got will definetely be sufficient, and i hope it solves your problems

  • Psu power outputs

    Hi all
I was just wondering how i tell what the power output readings are taken (without a multi meter as i lost mine ages ago)im running pc alert4 and know the program doesnt read temps well but what it does say is
    Vcore 1.78
    3.3v 3.26-3.28v
    +5v 4.89v
    12v  11.46-11.48v
do these seem ok as im keeping tabs on my cheap psu as my last one was murder.
its also says 28c cpu and 36-38c sys which is tallying with bios so it doesnt appear to do to bad a reading temps from what i heard pc alert sucked :D

  • HT4060 Can I use my old iPod 12v output power adapter to charge my iPad2?

Can I use my old iPod 12v output power adapter to charge my iPad2?

The iPod charger is only 5W.
    The iPad 2 needs a 10W charger.
It will charge slower and hotter.

  • When was Enermax PSU 12V updated

    Hey,
Hopefully someone can answer, i'm considering buying an EG465P-VE FCA, because i can get one quite a bit cheaper than the FMA's and the one i really want (The AX's) aren't even available in australia.
However, i'm not sure if this place has the current revision power supplies with the 33A 12V rail, and apparently it doesn't say this on the box either. They've had the power supplies for about 6 months.
Is there any way i can tell from either the box (possibly a revision number on the box?) or from the timeline (where the new hardware revisions out 6months ago?) if this power supply should be the current hardware revision with the huge 12V rail?
The place won't take stuff back unless it's either fauly or unnopened, and i'd have to open it to check the 12V on the side of the PSU :(
Does the 1.2 version number mean that it has the 33A 12V rail? I think it includes this version number on the box.
    Thanks!
    CYer, Blitz

Got him to have another look at the box and it says (apparently) ATX Ver 2.03 with enhanced 12V rail, so i'm guessing that should be it!
Hopefully i'll go home tonight and actually be able to turn my PC on
    Thanks all,
    CYer, Blitz

  • KT2 COMBO, Is 12v power Connector Needed?

Just Bought a "KT2 COMBO" to upgrade mi good old 6330 lite, and add some 2100 DDR Ram, and a new xp processor ( 2000+ ).
The problem is I'm using the same case, and the power supply in it has no 12 V ATX Power connector.
In the Quick User Guide, it refers to it (p 2-9), saying it's to provide power to the CPU.
Would the system work ok if I use only the main power connector?
Has anyone tried using it this way?

If you don't have stability problems it's probably fine.
You can buy an adapter to allow you to convert a mulex ( like you plug into an HDD ) to the 4 pin 12V plug.
If you don't have one you might try looking in local shops for butn out PSUs that have them, cut the wire and solder it to your PSU's output ( yellow to yellow, black to black )

  • Confused with PSU...

    Hi:
Just to say hello since I am new to this forum.
6 months ago, I decided to buy the following system:
    K7N2 Delta2 Platinum
    Corsair TwinX PC3200 C2 (cas 2-3-3-6), 2x512
Nvidia Gforce FX 5200 (Non Ultra, just the 128MB one).
Athlon XP 3000+ (Barton core with 166MHz FSB)
Two Optical drives (One's a DVD, the other is a CD-burner)
    80GB HDD (It's a Maxtor).
The CPU and the vid card were spare parts from an old computer I had, so all I did was buy the mobo and the rest of stuff.
Today, I bought a 450W PSU, to be more specific, it's a Nspire PSU with the following specs:
The 3.3V and 5V are above 30A, what worries me is that it has two 12V rails each one with the following specification: 12V1: 15A, 12V2: 17A (total 12V output combined: 34A).
I'd like to know if the 12V rail would be enough for my system, since it seems that it splits the 12V rail in two.
I've been using PSU's for a long time, but I'm new to this type of ones with split 12V rails
    Here's the link for it:
    http://www.shop4tech.com/item4696.html
    Thanks in advance.
P.S: Just as a note, I'm planning to overclocking my system. That's why I need to know if my system (including the PSU) would be OK for it.

Glenn, thanks for clearing my doubts on this because I was worried that 15A in the 12V1 and 17A in 12V2 were too low, since many have stated that the minimum to go with is 18A.
Anyhow, it looks like the 12V rail combined has a total output of 32A which I believe it's more than enough.
Thanks guys, you were really helpful (Glenn and Richard).

how about this cheapest 480w LC-POWER Scorpio

    first thanks for your reply.
i want oc my cpu to stable at 2.8ghz,  my cpu was venice 3200, it at default voltage go stable at 2.6ghz, and a little more voltage  ,it can stable at 300x9 at 1.45v.
i also have ask for what is the safe range of venice, someone said 1.5-1.6should be ok, so i want more juice of my cpu, but i only have a 400w psu  (12 v1 at 10a,12v2at 15a, 5v at 21a, 3.3v at 22a), is it good enough for oc at 2.7ghz or 2.8ghz?  i want to change it for stable oc system.
have you all seen that , this 480w psu is max 480w,is it ok?
    questions:
a oced cpu at 2.8ghz, it equel how much power? 87wor higher? and how about 2.7ghz_?
for a psu which has 2 12v output, which one is charge for cpu? 12v v1or 12v v2?  a oced 2.7 or 2.8 cpu need at least 18a?or higher?
what does those 5v and 3.3v  stand for?what are they in charge for ? i am not so clear for psu staff.
    thanks  alot.

  • Recomended PSU for £70

Hi Guys i am back and guess what i am still having trouble with my PC freezing. The PC support guys have been out twice to have a look at my PC. The first time they replaced the PSU with a sub standard PSU. So i have taken the decision to bite the bullet and buy myself a better PSU.
But with the vast amount of information on PSU on this board i am a little confused as to which supply would be best for my needs.
I have about £70 to spend and it will need to be sourced from the UK.
I bow to your guys superior knowledge.

    Hello,
That is very similar to my PSU.
    http://www.jsp-tech.com/_english/2_products/2_detail.php?hMainTypeID=2&hSubTypeID=18&hProdID=50
Mine says 37a on the +12v actual value is 26a.
    See my sig.
The PSU has not let me down but one thing that I am not happy with is the +12v output, it is never 12.00v.
Most of the time it is 11.48v and can go down to 11.28v.
It is a very quiet PSU too.

  • New Enermax PSU series

Enermax has a new series of PSU's, which they claim are aimed at the 865/875 series and the Prescott's. They have two independent +12V outputs, one for the CPU, the other for everything else. Looks promising.

My favourite is still the Antec True Power/True Control 550W with a dedicated output circuit for each voltage... and you can adjust the voltages within the 5% tolerance (with a front control panel)

  • Will a DKA790GX Platinum run on my old psu?

hi guys.  sorry if this is in the wrong forum section?
anyway, tomorrow, in the post my DKA790GX Platinum mobo will arrive with an AMD Phenom II X3 720 chip.  i am extremely broke at the moment and can not afford a new psu right now.
can anyone tell me if its possible to run my old psu on the new board and chip?  ive had my current mobo and psu for about 5 years, and i feel a bit out of touch with hardware jargon.  my psu its still going strong, but im not sure if it has the right amount or type of connectors?  i have tried reading the mobo manual online and my psu manual but all these volts, amps and numbers mean nothing to me  :(  one thing in the mobo manual that struck alarm bells was the mention of 'atx 24'.  my psu only has 1 x 20pins connector that plugs into my current main board.  will this be enough?
my psu details:  antec true blue 480p  (not the antec true blue 2).

    right..  thanks guys!
Fredrik - hmm..  yes, the 5000 does sound good.  i only went for the Phenom II because i thought it was a modern chip style, and therefore the best option to go for. if i had seen that the 5000 was a good competitor for it earlier, i would probably have gone for it.   i am too eager to get this pc set up though lol!  so i am going to stick with the chip when it arrives tomorrow.
Mike - i hear what you are saying about the corsairs.  i will start saving.  i need to save for a gfx card also.  for the minute, i will be running the onboard graphics, so my psu hopefully will cope untill i upgrade!
thanks again guys.  your advice is very much appreciated.

  • Connet cpu fan power to m/b or psu?

    Hi,
finally my new computer case and thermaltake volcano 9 came this mornig.
I have a question about the power connection since I found a big connector (same as HDD's) which is used to connect to psu directily. I have K7N2G-ILSR M/B. should I plug my volcano 9 on the M/B or on the psu 12v connectoer?
Below is info about vocalno 9:
    P/N A1365
    Cooler Dimension 80x80x77.3 mm
    Fan Dimension 80x80x25 mm
    Rated Voltage 12VDC
    Started Voltage 6VDC
    Rated Current  0.20AMP ~ 0.70AMP
    Power Input 2.40W ~ 8.40W
Max. Air Flow 20.55 CFM at 1300 rpm
     75.7 CFM at 4800 rpm
    Air Pressure 1.45mmH2O at 1300rpm
      8.43mmH2O at 4800rpm
Noise 17 dB at 1300 rpm
      48 dB at 4800 rpm
    Bearing Type Two Ball Bearing
    Life Time  50,000 hours
    Connector 3 PIN
    Tt Fan grille TR=0.38C/W

to the psu,if it does not have a seperate single wire speed sensor to plug in boards socket disable cpu fan detection in the bios, plug a case fan in there for first boot as it might not boot if it senses no cpu fan
big fan like that would pull to many watts and just burn out fan header

  • 12v Power Supply problems on Neo2 plat!

So I just turned on my computer today and after about 2-3 minutes, it turned off. I couldn't power it back on, and I kept hearing a crackling noise coming from the PSU when I would switch it on and off in the back. So I unplugged everything, I didn't plug in the 12v connector to the motherboard, just the normal one, and it powered on. Then I plugged in the 12v connector to the motherboard and I get a crackling noise coming from the PSU???? Could my motherboard 12v be shot or is it my PSU 12v??? The powersupply is only 2 months old also.  Thanks

I think you should first borrow a PSU to see if the issue is with the Mobo or your PSU.  Then you will have the info. you need to support a claim for an RMA.

When i turned the computer on for the first time, the system boots up and there is one small beep, sounds like it is posting, but I get no video signal from my monitor, which I checked on my other computer and is working fine, I tried both video cards in the 1st slot, in non-sli mode and I get the same result each time, so I get no video signal with all ways tried? Do I not have enough power in this PSU to run what I have? The video manufacturer suggests a 450W PSU, which I meet, but do I not have enough juice the 12V rails? And would this cause the no signal? Any help would be much appreciated.

    Hello, welcome to forum.
"When i turned the computer on for the first time, the system boots up and there is one small beep, sounds like it is posting, but I get no video signal from my monitor, which I checked on my other computer and is working fine, I tried both video cards in the 1st slot, in non-sli mode and I get the same result each time, so I get no video signal with all ways tried?"
have you tried with one of them only into 1st PCI-E? use 1st DVI output, when using SLI, ensure SLI bridge is configured property, connect monitor to VGA onto 1st PCI-E slot. also check monitor output is configured property(etc: Input 1, Input 2).
power down PC, remove power cord from the PSU and Clear CMOS Guide
    re-test.
ensure all power cables are connected property. try to boot with one memory stick only into slot close to CPU socket.
    what D-bracket shows?

yes, think is too weak for your system
its recommended to get single rail with high amperes on +12V (over 30A)

Like said, if a problem isn't explicitely fixed by a BIOS update, don't.
Choppy video sounds like a problem with the graphics card driver.
But I did this week's guessing just in the other post, so please say:
    What the BSOD say.
What game is choppy - say em all, please.
PSU is also very good to know.
    WoW
    Tibia
I got good fps at both games but they are choppy.
And i cant read what the BSOD say becuase it is only showing like 2 sec then restarting.

Whether you suck at computers or not has nothing to do with it. We are here to help each other out with solving problems and advice/warnings where needed.
What makes you think a BIOS update will fix your problem? What you decribed does not look like a BIOS problem.
Read this >> Forum USB BIOS flashtool << and >> motherboard & BIOS ID << Download & run this >> Central Brain ID << it will give you the OPN number of your CPU.
First i have one question..what is "VIA Serial ATA Controller - 0591" a program says that i dont have that updated. It is under "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers".
Damn i just saw that im using the ADX6000IAA6CZ  (125W)!!!
