PSU/CPU doubt

Hi All,
I want use the PSU/CPU for 10.2.0.4.0 version on AIX.
Should I shutdown my database to patch PSU/CPU?
What are the steps to do this activity?
Thanks,
Nonuday

Check readme fileYes, I going through but am not able to understand clearly..
First checked for Opatch version mine is 10.2.0.4.3, so first inorder to apply 10.2.0.4.11 I need Opatch version 10.2.0.4.4.
I have downloaded the Opatch version 10.2.0.4.4. In document it say to check for one-off patches conflict for that to execute the below command.
opatch prereq CheckConflictAgainstOHWithDetail -phBaseDir ./9352164
I have unziped the file in the optach location and executed with the below command but I am getting an error stating invalid location.
opatch prereq CheckConflictAgainstOHWithDetail -phBaseDir /forein/oracle/oracle10g/product/10.2.0/db_1/OPatch/9352164
getting the below error:

Do I need to shutdown my database for applying PSU/CPU(in readme itwas not mentioned about shutting down but used startup command to run catbundle.sql script)?

  • Database PSU/CPU and FMW CPUs

I have been hired to a new work place. there are the systems with the applications such Fusion Middleware11g (FMW) products -- OID, OAM, OIM, Portal and so on, and the Oracle databases as the backend which have the FMW applications' repositories installed in.
I notice that they have been applying only database PSU to the backend databases without any applications' CPUs along with for over a year. I think that we shall apply all the relevant Quarterly CPUs in the system, not just the database's PSU/CPU. The quarter's Database PSU/CPU require the same Quarter's FMW's CPUS because we have FMW's repositories resided in the databases. This kind of practice could have the potential issues because of the operational in-compatibilities within the system. They have ignored my advice, because they have not been experienced an issue yet for the practice. i know that sooner or later the issues will occur.
    Please make your comments. Thanks.

Database PSUs are fine, as then contains CPUs as well. So from the database side issues may not occur but for applications we must apply CPUs.
    Regards,
    GP

  • This is regarding psu/cpu on 11.2.0.2

    Hi,
We installed and created the 11.2.0.2 db on 13-APR-11
./opatch lsinventory -all shows the below contents
    List of Oracle Homes:
    Name Location
    OraDb11g_home2 /orahome/oracle/product/11.2.0.2/db_1
    Installed Top-level Products (1):
    Oracle Database 11g 11.2.0.2.0
There are 1 products installed in this Oracle Home.
There are no Interim patches installed in this Oracle Home.
We haven't applied any kind patch till now so instead of applying and patchset can we upgrade to 11.2.0.3 which is latest one , is it covers all the oracle released patch set (psu/cpu) till now on 11g ?
    appreciated for the inputs
    Thanks

    HI,
As the database created on 13-APR-11 and we haven't applied any patches (CPU/PSU) after that
suppose if application won't support 11.2.0.3 then i need to apply patches on 11.2.0.2
These are the below patch no released for 11.2.0.2
    Patchset/PSU number
    11.2.0.2.6 -> 13696224
    11.2.0.2.5 -> 13343424
    11.2.0.2.4 -> 12827726
    11.2.0.2.3 -> 12419331
    11.2.0.2.2 -> 11724916
    11.2.0.2.1 -> 10248523
is i need to apply all ptaches to get updated with oracle OR by applying 11.2.0.2.6 -> 13696224 only enough to sync with oracle ? so no need to apply 13343424,12827726,12419331,11724916,10248523
    appreciated for the inputs
    Thanks

  • New CPU, Msi K8n neo2 platinum - no boot!

    Greetings!
    I got the following components:
    *MSI K8N NEO2 Platinum -54g MB
    *4 x 512mb Geil Value Ram
    *Gainward 7800GS+ Bliss 512mb AGP
    *Samsung Spinpoint 500gb SATA HD
    *Corsair 620HX (620W) PSU
*CPU AMD Opteron 180 Dual Core (upgrade from AMD 3000+ Winchester)
I recently upgraded my PC with a new HD, more ram, new CU Fan/heatsink - on an AMD 3000+ (Winchester). PC wouldn't boot - I did however manage to fix it. I think it was because of the ram, one of the bricks had some dust on it. Since then, my pc has worked 100%...
Today, however, I got a new PSU and CPU in the mail! A Corsair 620W PSU and an AMD OPTERON 180 Dual. I carefully cleaned the surface on the heatsink etc, and applied an appropriate amount of "Arctic Alumina" on the CPU/heatsink (as followed per instructions from Arctic). When I have connected everything, and fire my pc up - it just won't boot.. (The monitor won't light up).
Since then, I have carefully checked all wires, unplugged/replugged etc.
    But it just won't boot!
I do have the latest bios (1.0D), so it should support my CPU.
I should mention some "weird" things, though. When I try to boot up, everything seems normal (All fans are running), but there are no lights on my case! And I can't turn off the PC while holding down the "power" button on my case. I can't reset either.. as soon as I turn the PC on (by turning on the PSU power switch), the PC starts running. Normally I would have to push the button on my case. ALSO: I have cleared CMOS, still a black screen. And I have tried 2 different monitors, so I know it aint that either.
My old PSU was a Chieftec 360W one (and my case is a Chieftec also). The old PSU was connected to "SFAN2" on my MB,.. my new PSU isn't connected to any "SFAN" at all.. I doubt that has anything to do with the problem though?
Any suggestions on what I might do ?
Edit: D-bracket shows this (Yellow, red, red, yellow):
    BIOS Sign On
    - This will start showing information about logo, processor brand name, etc... - It stops here. No boot screen

Quote from: BOSSKILLER on 14-November-07, 21:14:42
remove power cord from the PSU(else will not work) and Clear CMOS Guide.
leave one memory stick only in a 1st DIMM slot near to CPU socket and try to boot.
    Done & done.
    Still no boot screen :(

  • CPU patch for 10.2.0.4.0

    I am using oracle 10gr2.4.0,
    platform: hp-ux itanium 11.31
i would like to apply CPU patch or PSU.
    cpu patch :8836308
    PSU patch 8833280
    will you please clarify...

A PSU (or PatchSet Update) include the CPUs (or Critical Patch Update) and several individual patches (one off-patched) which are not included into a single CPU.
Depending of your shop policies, PSU could be more appropriate.
    Nicolas.

  • Temp & Voltage values and other doubts- P965 Neo2

    My computer config :
    CPU - E4300
    M/B - MSI P965 NEO2
    RAM - 1GB DDR2 PC2-5300 CL5 (KVR667D2N5/1G) Kingston Value RAM
    HDD - WD 250GB 16MB cache
    Graphics Card - 8500GT POV
    BIOS :
         Manufacturer  : American Megatrends Inc.
         Version  : V3.3
         Date  : 15 March 2007
    NorthBridge Information
Architecture  : Direct Media Interface (DMI)
Manufacturer  : Intel (Micro-Star International Co Ltd (MSI))
         Codename  : Broadwater
         Revision  : C2
         Bus Speed  : 200 MHz
FSB Frequency  : 800 MHz (QDR)
FSB max. Support  : 1066 MHz
         RAM max. Support  : DDR2 (800 MHz)
    1) The packing of the board states that the board is MSI P965 Neo, whereas on the board it is written P965 Neo2. This sounds strange to me.
    2) The CoreCenter (ver 2.0.2.1) software that is in the cd, that came with the board, reports really strange values of temps and voltage . Whereas these same stats in BIOS are :
DRAM voltage - 1.85 (CoreCenter Memory Voltage is shown as 2.55v)
CPU FSB Frequency - 200 (CoreCenter shows 266MHz)
    CPU Temp - 41C
    Sys Temp - 39C
CPU Fan - 3296 RPM (in CoreCenter CPU FAN speed= 0 rpm & SysFan = 2109 rpm, on mobo SysFan is not connected to sensors, only to PSU)
    CPU Vcore - 1.360v
    +5VSB - 5.255v
    +5.0V - 5.255v
    +3.3V - 3.440v
    And CoreCenter shows
    Vcore - 1.21v
    3.3V - 3.46v
    +5V - 8.45v
    +12v - 9.26v
I also installed DualCoreCenter ver-2.0.0.6 download from MSI website for P965 Neo2 M/B, and this software exits with an error code when i try running it
I collected stats from other apps also like cpuZ, SpeedFan, & PC Wizard 2007.
    Stats from cpuz
    Stats from SpeedFan
    Stats from PC Wizard 2007
    Temperature stats
    CPU stats
    Monitoring Chip : Fintek F71882FG
GPU Temperature : 70 °C (SpeedFan reports temp3 = 80C which i suppose it is reporting of GPU, though not sure)
    Hard Disk Temperature WDC WD2500KS-00MJB0 : 46 °C
    M/B info
    Product  : MS-7235
    Version  : 2.0
Now which program should i believe for the stats. Every prog shows some different value.

Mmmhh, I am experiencing the exact same problem. I updated bios. I updated core center. I updated mainboard drivers. Nothing helped. I checked several times, if all cables and cards are proper installed.
The computer is running now several hours without any problem. Managed three different games in high frames. But it would be nice, if I could monitor temperature and other settings. But if the msi tool isn't able to show the right result, how can I ever be sure, if my system is healthy?
Or has anyone any clue, what could be wrong with my system?

  • Things looking grim for my PC.....

This morning when i booted up i noticed the system time hadn't been updated (or barely) since switching off last night. thinking nothing of it, I've been playing Tomb Raider Legend today and it's been goiing alright for a while, but then the system locks up, so I press restart - nout happens, and the fans spin widly with the hard disk like glowing full on, pressing reset doesn't help nor does the power button, so I use the switch on the PSU to turn off, and then turn back on again.
Restart, all is well and dandy again - try a game like UT2004, things looking fine, temps all look fine really, if just a little warmer due to it being quite warm in my room today. Then while at the desktop, messing about with the MSI temperature monitor, I think I double clicked it too fast and things locked a little - mouse was still fine but when I tried to open task manager to close the apps I probably just made things worse. Anyway, I press reset, and same thing as before happen - fans full on, hard disk light full on (usually it gives a very slow flicker) and I have to turn off at the back of the PSU again. This time though nothing works, it keeps doing the same thing so I turn it off, take the plug out and open up the case, slight dust but nothing to bad, anyway, I turned the rear fan up one notch (Antec Tri Cool) and put it all back together and started up and it worked again.
    My PC Spec is:
    AMD Athlon64 3800+ AM2
    2GB DDR2 667 MHz RAM
    160GB Maxtor IDE
    Leadtek GeForce 7900GS
    MSI K9N Neo-F 550 MCP
    Onboard Realtek ALC883
    Antec 380watt
Things I did today include formatting a partition on my drive that had previously unallocated space.... I doubt that is the problem though as It doesn't explain the problem when resetting.
    Anyone have any ideas?
I'm guessing it could be anything right now, but I'm slightly suspecting the PSU.... with motherboard a close second, although I can't rule out hard drive or graphics card for causing issues, but it does seem like a PSU/mobo prob to me. I haven't really got anything I can start swapping for testing.
I was hoping it was just down it being a hot day, and with the rear fan turned up a bit more, maybe less hot air will be hovering near the PSU - CPU was only hitting 43C ish though. :/ Voltages reported by the MSI CoreCenter app seemed what they usually are, nothing different in that regards. The system losing the time though (i.e. not moving forward, clock staying at value it was when turned off) seems a bit odd too though, which made me think of the motherboard
However, It's just crashed again at the desktop for no reason - the bar at the top went greyed out, then the mouse pointer still moved, but nothing worked, then it started a long beep - I reset and it's back in window again :/
Then it crashed within two minutes of loading windows, at which point I turned it off and left it off.
When I think about it, i did get a crash 3 days ago while playing Tomb raider legend that resulted in an auto-restart, so maybe the signs were starting to show then.
    Thanks in advanced

Cheers for that, i'll just add an update for today:
Ok, it just started behaving really slow in windows, I tried rebooting and it acted all weird on startup, nearly freezing, then the same problem as before with me having to reset the switch on the back.
I noticed on the one bootup I got, MSI CoreCenter app was saying CPU clockspeed 6335Mhz lol
I've just taken one stick of memory out from the second slot, and it's just booted :/
So maybe it is memory afterall. I'll be testing now to see what happens - I haven't got any case side panels on yet, just connected everything up quick and booted it.
I'll try a game and see what happens, if it doesn't crash after a while, it'll mean it's likely the memory. I opened CoD 2 and played that for a few minutes and that was working, straight after the issues, so hopefully it's just the memory. I can live with only 1GB.

  • New Radeon 5770 1GB and old MSI RD480 Neo2 motherboard incompatible?

    Hi,
Am having problems getting my machine to post after inserting a new graphics card: Sapphire Radeon 5770 1Gb.  Have no problems with my old card in the PCI-E slot (X800GTO) - it works fine.  But when I insert the 5770, the machine won't even post.
The core of my machine is ~4 years old, with a MSI MS-7194 RD480 Neo2 motherboard.  I've updated the PSU to a Corsair 650W and as the light on the graphics card is on and ATI recommend a 450W PSU I doubt it's a power issue (and yes, I have attached a PCI-E power lead to the 5770)...
Is the issue that my motherboard is too old? Or is there a newer BIOS for it? I tried the MSI LiveUpdate tool which said there wasn't.
So I'm a bit stumped! Am in the process of putting a new machine together, but can only buy 1 or 2 parts each month - I was hoping to make the most of the graphics card before I had to cough up for a new CPU/Mobo!
All help gratefully received - thanks!
    PS
    Here are my system details:
    Mobo: MSI MS-7194 1A RD480 Neo2
    Bios: 26/2/2006 version (from msinfo32)
    CPU: Athlon 64 X2 3800+
    RAM: Crucial, 4x512Mb
GPU: Sapphire Radeon HD 5770 1Gb VaporX (no drivers installed as machine won't even post!)
    PSU: Corsair TX650W +3.3V: 24A, +5V: 30A, +12V: 50A. Max combined +3.3/+5: 170W.
    HD: SATA1: WesternDigital 200GB, SATA2: Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB.
    DVD-RW Sony IDE0, DVD-ROM Sony IDE1
    OS: Windows XP SP2

There has been an on going problem with that model # in general and that brand & model in particular not working on a wide variety of MB's. On some MB's that have 2 16x slots it will not work in slot 1 but will in slot 2.

  • Stuttering of the unhumorous variety

Well, my system information is below. Heres what you dont know
PSU CPU voltage :1.49 +3.3v = 3.20v +5v voltage =4.97 +12v=11.55v -12v voltate -11.54 -5v voltage -5.00v all.  My Drivers are 44.03 my vid caard is overclocked. However i doubt that has anything to do with it since it began before that.
The stuttering is most notable when playing online.  I really am on the end of my rope..Oh, my ram is samung...pc2100.. I figure that narrows it down.

:rolleyes_anim:Crap, sorry..forgot to mention the stuttering happens when playing warcraft 3.. for some reason Steam has desided to tell me my CD KEY is already in use..So there goes the only other game i have that has available online play.

  • 00 LED code on Gaming 5 motherboard

I recently RMA'd a Gaming 5 motherboard and after receiving the replacement I'm still having the same problem that I had initially. As with the last board, the standby LED does not light up once the power supply is switched on prior to trying to power up with the case button. When I do try to power up, the system will briefly light up for a second and then power off immediately. I am able to see a '00' code on the mother board but I'm wondering if the short power up is not enough time for it generate a correct code.
I've tried a large number of methods to trouble shoot listed below:
Plugged the PSU into another mobo and confirmed that it could power up the system
Removed and tested each memory module individually
    Reseated the CPU multiple times
checked the case connectors for the power switch to ensure they were put on correctly
removed the GPU and attempted to start up
shorted out the CMOS battery to try and reset the BIOS
Any suggestions at this stage would be helpful. I'm starting to believe it's either the processor or RAM but the lack of a standby LED has me wondering if I've gotten a second dud in a row.

    Quote from: badboy2k on 18-January-15, 12:59:15
have you tried another PSU on that board (maybe your PSU has to high a standby current so is not haswell compliant)?
it may be the CPU (doubt its RAM as you would have a 50-55 code)... may be another dud board but it may just be your PSU here.
another possibility is the BIOS on the board! (what is the serial number of it without the last 3 digits?)
Serial number (I think this is the one you're looking for): E816426667 01
I used a multimeter on the 20 pin ATX connector and the I confirmed that the PSU is delivering the correct amount of voltage from each one, however I'm piqued with your comment on the standby current. I've looked around but I cannot seem to find any spec listing for the processor that describes the limits and such. I'd be surprised if the model I chose is incompatible with this specific processor given that on their site it does state it is compatible with the Haswell architecture
I have tried another PSU on the mobo and still no go with the standby LED. I've considered the possibility of the CPU being dead but would that actually prevent a standby LED from not lighting up?
Quote from: pandaz on 19-January-15, 11:06:18
have you tried to remove all SATA devices and clear the CMOS and check again?
Attempted and still the same issue

  • KT3 Ultra2 doesn't switch off

When I press on/off button computer doesn't switch off and reboot. I tried another memory, cpu and PSU, but with the same result. I measured voltage 12V, it falls down for a moment, but then rise again. This doesn't depend of Windows98 or DOS, because I had the same effect without hard disk.

Same problem for me too, but it's somewhat erratic. Sometimes it will shutdown, other times it will 'reboot' (It's not a normal reboot. You can hear the hard drives click into their shutdown state for about 0.25 seconds, then the whole system powers back on again).
I thought it must be to do with some kind of wakeup event, but nothing that I tried seem to change it. I just accept the fact now that when I say 'Shut Down', I have to sit by my computer until it either shuts down, or reboots itself (At which point I press the power button and it shuts off).
    Stupid thing :\
    I'm using an Enermax 410w PSU - I doubt that's the problem.

  • MSI 970A-G46 Northbridge Overheats

    Hello
My first MSI 970A-G46 stopped working perfectly one moment, and the next it was dead. Nothing responded, everything was doublechecked, PSU, CPU, RAM and I ended up returning the motherboard, recieving a new one just like it.
The new board has now been installed, and everything works as it should. After about 30 minutes of gameplay, the computer just went black. I thought "Thermal shutdown" as soon as it happened.
I booted again and checked all temps, everything seemed fine, CPU and Sys Temps were in the 40's Celcius.
I then felt the Northbridge with my fingers, and it is BURNING hot.
    MSI 970A-G46
AMD Phenom II X4 Black Edition 3.2Ghz @ Stock speed
8GB Kingston HyperX @ Stock speed
    GTS 450 @ Stock speed
    1TB Samsung SATA
Why is the Northbridge burning hot? My old Mobo, same model, never did this. I never found out what killed it though.
Ive done my share of research before asking questions here, and I do find other people talking about burning hot Northbridges on this specific MOBO.
    Thank you in advance

I agree, 60 is high for idle. I'll clock it back to default clocks. I doubt it's the cooler, I'm using a Zalman LQ-310 Cooler, Not sure if that names right, but it's something along the lines of that.
    It's a liquid-cooling cooler.
What's your NB voltage? Has that been adjusted?
And, when you say "idle," are you talking about "idle" after you have fully booted, or "idle" when you're looking at the UEFI screen before you boot?  I ask the question because a lot of people think that when they are in the bios/UEFI,  pre-boot, that they are "idling" when actually the cpu is usually running flat out...  Doesn't actually "idle" until after you've booted to your desktop for several reasons.
