PSU Help

I previously asked about the problem with my graphics skipping frames, and you have made me think that the PSU is my problem. So i restated the info below. What do you recommend? Is it imperative that I find a PSU greater than 350W for my new PC? Is there anything else I can do? Please help. This whole thing has made me very upset. This is my first new PC and I am going insane trying to make it work. Someone help me please!

  • MSI K8T Neo + OCZ PSU (help)

Hi there, having a few problems with my computer unfortunatly with it being christmas eve :@ anyway I just purchased an OCZ 520w PSU I go to install it, and it keeps crashing everytime windows boots or as soon as I start doing anything in windows. It does actually get onto the desktop can click the Start button etc.... I noticed my old PSU had another little connector that plugs in down the bottom of the motherboard which this one does not its a 3 pin connector. now if I plug my old PSU in without that connector it crashes so im not sure how to get it working I fool heartdly put the other spare floppy disc connector on it... which I shouldnt have lol after it went pop and I could smell burning would this of blown something? the connector on the mobo or on the PSU? as its working with my old psu. the most important thing is getting it working with my new psu, any help would be greatly appreciated!

Is this so important for you?
If I were you, I would care more about the Mobo, CPU, Memory and other devices and If I were you, I would throw this PSU out of the window asap.
Had one of the OCZ Powerstreams and it killed my Mobo, my Memory and my HD. Is this worth enough risking the same???
Glad enough it didn´t kill my FX 53 and my videocard. If you have to much money, give it to me. I would spend it for better things than waiting till yours will catch fire.

  • 90 watt psu or 65 watt psu/ Better performance with USB devices?

The 20Volt 65W psu that came with my 3000 N200 0769aku laptop is replaceable with
    a 20 Volt/90W Lenovo AC adapter.
I am connecting devices to all usb ports (two hard drives, wireless mouse, ILOK software dongle) and  a two port firewire express card.
Would having a "beefier" psu help cause when plugging all this in at once?
    Thanks

If you need it, I don't believe so. If a 90W would hurt - no way.

  • Working, now not working

    Hi all,
I have just upgraded my PC from my sig data to a MSI K9VGN-V MoBo etc etc.
It was working OK with an old 20 pin PSU - 20 pin block and 4 pin block for the CPU.
Today I fitted a nice new Corsair VX550w PSU - 24 pin block, now the PC won't power up.
I thought that the 24 pin arrangement powered the CPU so that you did not have to use the JPW1 CPU block on the MoBo?
Have I got the right PSU?
The manual says NOT to plug the 4 pin block into the CPU block...  what have I done wrong>
Looks like I will have to return the Corsair and use my old PSU - HELP!
    Thanks in advance.
    Steve

"I thought that the 24 pin arrangement powered the CPU so that you did not have to use the JPW1 CPU block on the MoBo?"
No CPU is powered by separate power cable. You have to connect it.
"Have I got the right PSU?"
    Yes.
Connect ATX 24 pin cable ==>
Then connect EPS/ATX12V 8-4 pin cable for the CPU{Deattach it 1st:
    to the JPW1

  • Network Printing

    Hi everyone
I need some help because I'm not able getting work my new printer (HP Photosmart C4100 series) via network.
    I have a macbook und a wireless netgear router...and also a netgear usb-printserver (ps-121v2).
I put the IP-adress of the print server statically on 192.168.001.104 . My printer is linked to the printserver by usb-cable. The print-server is also linked to the wlan-router by ethernet-cable. Using the firefoxbrowser I can acess the usb-printer-server-configuration (http://192.168.001.104).
I installed ESP Ghostscript 7.07.1 (ESP GS) and also HPIJS for Mac OS X (which seems to be the right driver for the HP Photosmart C4100).
Then I tried to add the new driver to MacOS X: I opened the Printer Setup Utility and I choosed the "+" to add a new printer. I didn't use "Default Browser" --> I took "IP Printing" and then I choosed "LPD" and I put in the IP-adress of my print-server (192.168.001.104). Then I choosed the HPIJS-Driver.
As I tried printing, there is always an error (32) "remote host dosen't accept..."etc.
Has anyone an idea how to solve this problem!!???
    Thanks
    fishrain

Have no idea why you need Ghostscript. It's not needed for anything. The universal binary drivers for your printer can be downloaded from HP.
After downloading the drivers and software you need to install them according to the instructions that come with the software. If you've installed any other custom drivers for the printer you should uninstall them before installing the HP drivers. Once the driver is installed you need to Add the printer using the Printer Setup Utility. Consult the PSU Help from the PSU Help menu on how to install a printer.
A print server is really not necessary. You can connect the printer directly to your computer's USB port. Then open the Sharing preference and turn on Printer Sharing. Install the printer driver on each network computer that requires access to the printer.

  • Connecting to a network printer?

My work only provides support for Windows and I want to figure out how to connect my Mac Pro to the network so I can print from it to the designated network printer. It is already connected to the network for Internet, though it does not seem to print when I try. How can I set it up to print to the networked printer?
    Thanks!

The browser icon is in the toolbar of Printer Setup Utility. When you "Add" the printer you will have to select a printer driver from the drop down menu unless one is selected automatically.
There are no built-in drivers for Dell printers. Drivers are provided in OS X for a variety of printer manufacturers and models, but Dell does not make printers. Either Dell may provide a driver for Macs (unlikely) or you will need to find out what the real make and model of the printer is in order to get the correct printer driver.
You will have to talk with your System Admin to determine if the printer is installed as an IP printer and find out its IP address. Your System Admin may also be able to help you with the installation on your computer.
You can also use the PSU Help from the PSU's Help menu for more assistance on installing a printer.

  • Setting up printers

When I try to add a printer to a sparse root zone it fails with the following errors:
    mknod: Not owner
    chmod: WARNING: can't access /dev/PTRSHC189
    Addprinter error: can't find /etc/lp/interfaces/PTRSHC189
I'm about convinced that I need to mount some filesystems from the global zone, butI haven't seen any documentation on printing from zones.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
    Thanks,
    mr

Open the Printer Setup Utility in the Utilities folder. Select PSU Help from the Help menu. Search for 'add printer' which should give you a list of articles one of which should provide the procedure for adding a new printer in OS X.
Note that you must only use universal binary printer drivers. If you download drivers from a printer manufacturer's site then be sure the drivers are universal binary and compatible with Intel Macs.
I also suggest that you read the User Guide before you start fiddling with the computer. You may very well find instructions on things such as adding printers. You can also find help by using the Help menu that appears in the menu of virtually all OS X applications including the Finder.

  • Newbie question about neo2 plat...

Hi, I bought a k8n neo2 platinum board and ive just installed winxp. While I was installing winxp it froze quite a few times, so I had to reset. Since ive installed winxp it’s been freezing randomly and takes a while to boot up occasionally. I haven’t reset bios and ive not updated it either. I don’t know to much about bios so I don’t want to mess it up. All the bios settings are set to optimized default. Also im still yet to install winxp sp1a. Windows update wont install nor will directx. Apart from that everything is pretty much tip top. Do I have to change some bios settings or update the bios or something? Im a kinda newbie and this is the first pc ive built. specs are:
    msi k8n neo2 platinum
    athlon 64 3200+ winchester s939 + Aerocool HT-101jr
    standard 512 (2x256) ddr400 pc3200 cl2.5 or 3 (duno which)
    120gb maxtor + 17gb maxtor
    sapphire radeon 9800se
    500w psu
    Help would be much appreciated

    [reply to first post]
im not using any raid or sata, just standard ata ide. ive not installed the nvidia raid drivers off the enclosed floppy cause i didnt think i'd need to. how to i know if its set to ide?. it says on the side of the psu: -12v (0.8A), +12v (17A). if i set the bios to safe defaults, wont ii loose performance? i want the best stable performance without overclocking. im not a total dummie for bios, i just dont know the advanced stuff i suppose. would it be a bad idea to install the latest version of bios?
    [reply to 2nd post]
what more info do i need on the psu and ram, i bought the ram off a friend as oem. if theres a way i can find out timings etc just tell me how to do it.

  • Which type of psu for K8d Master3 FS - please help !!!

    Hello community,
unfortunately we are unable to get a K8D Matser3 FS running.
We excluded problems in CPU or memory so we think the problem is the power supply.
In the manual of the board in the pin-assignment on pin20 there is written "3VSB". Does that mean +3V standby ???
We tested two different psu, a Levicom Blackpower 450W 24+8 EPS (no cable on Pin20) and a Bequiet P5 520W EPS 24+8 (white cable -5V on pin20)
without any success. The CPUs stay cool, the CPU fan is running and there is nothing to hear or see.
The german support couldn´t help. They said that all EPS power supplys should work fine, that was all they could say.
What we need is an information about tested psu with type and manufacturer so we can compare the pin-assignment.
Please help us. This is urgent.
    THX from Germany
    Marc

    What memory are you using???

  • Need help with choosing a PSU

    hey guys,
i need some help with choosing a right PSU for my gaming rig.  i plan on doing some overclocking for the first time, and from what i understand the regular no name PSU that came with my case just won't be enough.  so here is what i'm currently looking at:
    http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=17-103-910&depa=1
my question is, is this a good PSU?  it's going for roughly $100 and i'm willing to pay around that much.  can someone tell me if this is a good choice, or any other recommendations? thanks in advance!
btw, my specs are below in my sig...

LOL...you ol fartin' son-of-a-gun!!!! We gotta be supportive to all here - no favorites. But if I had to make choices, you're the first one I'd help build one!!!! Feel better now ....you 'ol Salty Dog?
I just may have to make a trek up to Washington one day, to see the U.S.S. Washington....berthed in Bremerton?, and meet you, you crazy mad-for-life-lovin-computer jockey!!

Sorry I not really a computer expert, those item are recomend from my friend.

It's barely a step up from what you're using now...here is a review on it:
    http://www.neoseeker.com/resourcelink.html?rlid=62172
This pic shows that the 12V rail is 18A which is 2A more than the one you have now...scrimping isn't going to make it better...
Enermax or Antec is the way to go...they both crank a lot more amps out of their rails than most...

  • PSU Finding the correct patches help

I'm confused on what patches I need to apply.  I can easily find the WLS PSU patch (19182814), and have patched that before without issues.
This is what my opatch is telling me I have installed on one server running the web tier:
    Oracle WebTier and Utilities CD
    11.1.1.7.0
Are these the correct patches to apply: 18603707  18423801 18603703 17664563 18423831?   If so, why are there no patches for October 2014?  Is 11.1.1.7 out of support, or was there just no new patches?
This is what opatch is telling me I have for a server running Forms and Reports:
Oracle Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer 11g Patchset
    11.1.1.7.0
This one I'm not sure, I can't seem to find anything, so is this one out of support?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

    Hello Prakash,
Thanks for your response.  I have looked at that document.  I am beyond confused.  Am I basically supposed to go through that section (Table 87 Patch Availability for Oracle Fusion Middleware 11.1.1.7), and download any and all patches for Oracle Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer 11.1.1.7.0 home or Oracle Web Tier 11.1.1.7.0 home? - If this is correct then all these need to be applied to both my WebTier and Forms and Reports homes:Patch 17337741 Patch 17306880 Patch 17664563  Patch 17617649 Patch 18423801 Patch 19591065
I got the above patches in my first question from the MOS patches Recommended Patch Advisor by selecting:
    Product: Oracle HTTP Server
    Release: 11.1.1.7.0
    And our platform
Does the recommended patch advisor not work the way I thought it does?  Also I'm assuming that these are like the DB SPU/PSU patches and that they are accumulative?  OR do I need to go back and apply any and all previous security patches?
    Thank you!
