PT880 LSR XVID problem

I have pt880 board with prescott 2.4. Everytime i open a folder that has xvid files, the folder crashes by itself. Sometime I quick enough and double click to play, it plays for a while and crashes. It doesn't seem to happen to Divx which has the same .avi extension. Can anybody help me?
thanks
BTW i use 80G WD IDE harddrive, 1G OCZ 2.5 memory, TI 4200 64mb

hey, its not a board problem...
if have a problem with that too sometimes... but it's only some movies...
its the thumbnail portion of winxp thats crashing, it opens each movie and gets the first frame from them, and thumbnails them...
sometimes it crashes my system too... i just delete the movie then (which sucks)
sometimes windows wont let you... so you've got to stop EXPLORE, then restart it... and then delete the file without letting it make a thumbnail...
sound complicated? this is how i think

  • CoreCell and NEO PT880 LSR problems

Hi all, i'm having problems with my new MSI PT880 NEO LSR and corecenter software.
Everything runs fine with my mobo, my system spec are at my signature, i have a very good PSU and all the rest too.
The problem is when i try to use the software CORECENTER to use the corecell chip.
Whenever i try to use the software, i get 50% of used proc time and the software doesn't start.
I try to close it through task manager and it never closes, the only thing that makes me get rid of it is to reset the machine.
Sometimes (really few ones), i run it and it simply doesn't appear to run, but it is there in the Taks Manager and can be closed, but the major part it gets stuck in 50% of proc use.
I have a mobo that should control fans, FSB and voltage without beeing able to use it.... does anyone knows how to get rid of it?
I use a version of WIN XP with SP2 RC2 integrated, everything else runs fine in my system.
BTW anything related to AUTO Overclock in BIOS doesn't work too.
If I set manually a CLOCK os 220 FSB the system boots fine and is stable, if I choose to get a Auto OC of 7% it hangs before or right after entering windows.
P.S: BIOS Already updated to 1.5 and all voltages are fine, MEMO already in 2.7V
Please I need to see if I need to Return this mobo or not, and really fast.
I am pleased for any answer.

I have thought of that before and I have an older version of win XP without SP2 integrated, but not a single other program refused to run or give instabilities problems with me on this windows, and I refuse to reinstall windows AGAIN.
Since i have reinstalled it 8 times just this last week , because i thought it was a windows problem.
I have an old 8 GB HD that i'm willing to format and give a try to install the normal windows XP (first version) in it, so i can see if CoreCenter will run in it.
I think it is not a problem like that, but who knows..... I might give it a try.
Other programs like MotherBoard Monitor works, but i really hate MBM interface and liked to at least see CoreCenter interface :(
Please any other thoughts might help.

  • AGAIN! MSI PT880 lsr PROblem! PLISS HELP ME!!

Im on my way to build new pc for myself..but i got stuck for a few days..finding ways on how to install a new XP Os. Actually Ive already read thread by zeizelbird  and i think my situation a little bit same as him.Really hope that u guys can give me a hand~~Dizis my pproblem
1-I cant install any OS!!!   ???   after read a second from the Xp installation cd. it will hang up and the screen goes black.. Or it will hang up just after the the detecting all IDe bla bla bla..( I mean its not even reach the " press anykey to boot from CD" quote ). Or it will hang up after the XP setup initialize the " windows excution".
2-sometimes the d-bracket show the "Initialize Floppy Drive Controller" and sometime(often) it will stuck up at "Processor Initialization"
3- Am I Have to consider buying a new PSu since i bought my current PSU just 2 days ago   ..is my PSU suit (at least) for my current machine?? im out of money~~
4- Whats the best setting for the [Frequency/Voltage control] on BIOS setup? Whats the VLink stand for? what should i set for the value?1.1 or 1.4 ??
5-Should i update my BIOS to 1.4 (im on 1.3 rite now) ?? Cos i absolutely know nothing about what should i do to update the BIOS.

Ruse, Dizis how i update my BIOS( although the  actual procedure is not like dis)
1-Download the v1.4 bios for the MoBo-take it just from the official website.( My fren got prob when used the 1.4.2 Beta(unofficial release).
2-Extract and put the file in 1 floppy disc. (let Say Floppy B)
3-Make another floppy-boot disc (i prefer Win 98 boot disc).
4-restart, try to boot from floppy ( i guess your pc can boot from floppy..make sure youy enable the floppy seek from the BIOS frist).
5-Successfully boot..determine your Rom drive-your virtual drive, and then put in the B into the floppy drive and brwose it (I mean A: ) . Copy both of the *.exe and *.140 file into your Rom Drive,
6- Browse to your Rom drive , and execute it (read it from the instruction given in the File you already downloaded before).
Did u check ur D-bracket and determine whats the problem ? If u didnt have it, you have to get one..its very useful for determine what goin wrong.. ah..i oso have problem with the floppy disk before, but its fix when I try to make sure the BIOS setting for enabling the floppy are correct.
As mentioned by others earlier, maybe u should check your PSU first..i think your PSU not suppley enough voltage for your drives as the prescott did consumed high voltage compared to other P4 cpu...
p/s- the PT880 is not the right choice for easy HT installation~~ dets what i think...

  • PT880-FSR newbie problems

I'm a newbie to all this, but I seem to be having problems with my memory, I think.  Here's my setup...
    PT880-FSR
    P4 3.20E
    Mushkin 512MB PC3200
    nVIDIA GeForce FX 5500
Western Digital 15G EIDE Hard Drive
I got XP to install once but during installation, while it was copying the setup files, a message would come up stating it could not copy the file and would ask to retry, skip file, or quit setup (always on the shell32.dll and driver.cab files).  There was no problem with the disk, since the same thing happened when I tried to install Windows 2000 first.  Nor was it a problem with the CD drive since i swapped it out and tried a different drive and still the same problem.  The one time I did get XP to install I would get stop messages saying IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL frequently so I reformatted and tried to reinstall but now during installation i would get a stop message saying PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA.
Can somebody out there please help me?!

    Hey,
I am also having some of the same problems. If anybody can help me I would greatly appreciate it. I just built my first computer and its not going very well. I have a few issues that I cant resolve.
    1)   My USB ports aren’t working w/ anything. (i.e. printer, mouse, Lexar Jumpdrive) At first I would plug in the Lexar 256mb Jumpdrive Sport and a few minutes later my screen would go blank and then my computer would restart. Now it just says that the driver needs to be installed, but then it can’t find one.
    2)   When I try to play C&C generals the game will start then a few minutes into it my screen would go blank and then my computer would restart. It also sometimes happens when I am using winplayer and on the web at the same time.
    3)   I also get two errors frequently IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL and PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
I have reformatted and reinstalled XP several times. Twice it has stopped at the 10-minute mark. I have tried Windows XP W/ SP2 then I clean reinstalled XP SP1. Is this all the same thing? Can anybody help me? I have been reading forums for the past week.
     My hardware is
(I’m not at home right now so I only put what I am sure of)
    PT880 NEO-FSR w/ P4 3.2 hyperthreading
    KINGSTON 768 DDR
SAPPHIRE ATI RADEON 9600 Video Card, 256MB DDR AGP 4X/8X
ANTEC SONATA 380w true power. Power supply
    DVD drive (something speed)
I am using the built in sound.
I don’t remember the specs for my hard drive
I have a SCSI card plugged in but I have not hooked up my second hard drive yet
I will find out what my bios is and post it later if it will be helpful.
Also, please note that my computer is setup for duel boot. XP primary and NT 4 secondary (so I can run a video capture card that isn’t compatible w/ XP.
Again thanks for taking the time to read this. Please reply if you know anything that may be helpful.

  • Msi kt6 delta lsr temp problem?

i have just installed a msi kt6 delta lsr , but when i have ran the system a while the sys temp is around 40-42 c and the cpu temp is around 52c .
on my old mobo the temps never went above 35c for the cpu and 25c for the sys temp .
my specs for old mobo etc =
    AMD Athlon(tm) XP 2600+
    jetway v400db (kt400 chipset)
    400w psu
    ata133 80gb hd (maxtor)
    512 ddr333
    geforce fx5800 ultra
windows me (but same in win xp pro)
2 fans blowing air into case and 2 sucking air out
does anybody know a way to improve the temps please

Yippee! A ME user, like me! You know I guess MS support for W98 and ME has been prolonged til 2006? It has partly to do with Linux.
The temperature for the CPU is a little high, but not alarmingly so. Barton gets a little bit hotter on these boards, and I think it is the placing belovw the PSU that is the cause. The system temperature for you is no problem.
To get the warmth away from the CPU I suggest a fan placed in the case door/side, that sucks it out.
Perhaps you have not got such a case door? Then I suggest a quiet 80 mm fan on the back of the case as high as possible, again sucking air out in order to make a nice air flow. Another suggestion is to tie away cabling to the sides of the case as much as possible, power cables, IDE cables etc.

  • KT6V-LSR boot problem

I encounter a strange problem(which I think is because of main board):
         - Sometimes when I press the power on button(to power on the system),then the system don't really starts, only the HardDisk(red) LED is ON, the PowerOn(green) LED is OFF. The monitor remains black, with a LED blinking.
         - While the system is in state described before, if i press the Reset Button, then: the PowerOn(green) LED turns ON too,the monitor receives signal(it's LED stops blinking, by remanining ON), and the system starts OK(everything is ok).
    What can be the problem?
    the system configuration is:
    - MSI KT6V-LSR, SocketA, AMD Athlon & Athlon XP & Duron 550MHz- 2+GHz, VIA KT-600 chipset, 266/333/400 MHz FSB, 3 DDR DIMM max. 3 GB, PC3200/2700/PC2100, PC1600 DDR SDRAM, 5PCI, 1AGP 8x, 2 UDMA66/100/133 Bus Master IDE, 6USB 2.0, 1P/2S, PS/2 bill/egér, ATX, AC 97 6 ch. Audio

    Hello,
Did you build this PC or did someone else build it?
Open the PC, remove the case side panel and check the JP1/case connectors.
Check if the power switch, reset switch, hdd LED are Power LED are plugged in the right place.
The best way to do this is to remove all the case connectors and start again, plug 1 at a time and see if it works better.
Start with the front case power switch first, plug it in and see if the PC starts when you press it.
Make sure the PC is off when you do this, (turn on when you are ready to test).

  • KT6 LSR Boot Problems

    Hi,
I just built this system and when I push the start button on the front of the case (Cold Boot) the fans all come on but that is all. Then I have to push the reset then it will post and go to the raid looking for devices screen and eventually will boot. I tried I tried a new PSU and it does the same thing. Any idea why it is not starting properly and any way to get it to stop looking for Raid devices?
How dop I determine my Bois on this board?
    Thanks,
    Tj
All parts came from a kt3 and worked fine.

    Hi,
I made the change in the bios and it no longer wants to find the raid devices (THANKS) for that one.
It still on a cold boot, like it has been off over night will power up, fans will come on then the monitor go's off and nothing else happens. I then have to press the reset to get it to boot. Seems like the board is defective or something. I put in a new cooler since this all started and a new PSU and it is the same.
The cooler is the 3rd one that I have tried and it does the same thing. The Aero 7+ does plug into the board but in order to see the fan speed I would need to cut the sensor wire and hook the power to the PSU and the sensor to the connector on the board, Kind of a pain. Maybe BAS will get lucky and get a response from MSI on the problem.
    Thanks All,

  • [nForce] K7N2 Delta@ LSR stability problem

Okay gang...here's the scoop. Recently purchased the K7N2 Delta2 LSR and equipped it with an AMD XP-2600 (locked), 2X512 Rosewill Dual-Channel sticks, plus Samsung 80gb HDD and ATI Radeon 9000pro AGP. Built the system with no hassle and clean installed Win XP Home. Just wanted to get the system up, so left BIOS setting where they were for a couple of days. Noticed that the processor was not being recognized, so checked the BIOS and realized FSB was set to 133 (processor at ~1500mhz). I changed the FSB to 166 with multiplier of 11.5 (which, I believe is correct for my 2600 Barton). Voltage is at 1.65v. Memory is at DIMM slots 1 & 3 (dual channel) and memory voltage is at 2.7v. (Timings at 2.5,3,3,7) After I made these changes to the BIOS and rebooted, Win XP ran checkdisk, and reported no errors. The problem now, is that graphics-intensive stuff (i.e., games) cause system to freeze after about five seconds. When the processor was underclocked, I didn't have this problem. I'm not interested in over-clocking... just want it to be stable at stock speeds. Other applications (Word, Excel, IE, Outlook Express) run fine. My ATI Radeon 9000pro is a 4X AGP card (I have 8X disabled in BIOS), and the voltage is at 1.5v. I don't think this is a PSU problem (400w), and only noticed the problems since changing the FSB to where it was supposed to have been all along. Am I missing something obvious?

Board runs best with fsb:dram at 1:1  Not sure what speed memory you have but needs to run at same speed as fsb, ie 166 Mhz =333 ddr.
I found bios b3 to work best for me.  Give that a go.
Give make/model of psu with max amps to +3.3v, +5v and +12v.  See my signature for example.
I found that with other bios I need high performance setting in cell menu at optimised, so check that.
Search on this forum for my username and keyword 'bios' for lots of other posts.
    Good luck

  • PT8 NEO-LSR setup problem

    Hi, I just bought a PT8 Neo-LSR (http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/mainboard/mbd/pro_mbd_detail.php?UID=488) With 512 DDR pc-3200 RAM, WD 80gb hd, P4 300-800 CPU. His ATI 9600XT 256 Mb AGP video
Put everything together in a brand new case.
Turn the power on. THe fans ARE working either on the CPU and the video card, but that's all. no signla, no beep no nothing. I put the plug in JPW1, put my memory in slot 1. The thing I see is the jumper on JBAT1 who is in 2-3 (clear data). I tried to put it in 1-2 but then NOTHING moves.
Any idea of what I did wrong ?

had the same problem whit the same board.
the store selled me a rma one (i think).
    mouse 'did not work(ps2)
no jumpers on front audio connectors
cmos jumpers was wrong (clear data)

  • 875 P neo-lsr boot problem

Hello all, I've got the following problem with my 875 P neo board:
The system fails to power on properly 95% of the time.
Sometimes the hdd inits and the nb fan goes on, sometimes it doesn't. The LED's gives either an keyboard controller or AGP initing display diagnostics message. The system never comes as far as lighting the display in the cases when it doesn't work. The system boots in 1 out of 10 cases so switching it on and off until it works is the only way to boot it.
When fully booted it works perfect though.
I've tried changing graphics card and keyboard but with no sucess, also tried setting the memory voltage to 2.70 with no real increase in sucessful boots.
Sometimes when the system actually boots it reports that the 'memory timings are set too tight, resetting' even thoyugh I've set the settings in the bios to 'slow', although it does not report this on all sucessfull boots.
    I've got the following specs:
    Pentium 4, 3000 Mhz, 800 FSB
TwinMOS 512 MB, PC3200, CL 2.5 RAM (Approved by MSI)
Super Flower / Le pont 420 W PSU (P4 approved)
    MSI 875P NEO-LSR
IBM 75GXP hdd (master on chain 1)
Asus CD-R (master on chain 2)
Asus GeForce 4 Ti4800SE 128 MB DDR 8x AGP graphics card (brand new)
    Keytronics brand new 'standard' keyboard
MS explorer optical 3.0 USB mouse
    BIOS rev 1.6
I've tried changing the graphics card and keyboard for other products from microsoft and gainward.
Anyone got any idea what could help me?
    Best regards =).

One thing that makes me wounder:
For some reason the multiplier is set to 203 x 15.0 when booted (according to corecenter), but in the bios it says 200 x 15.0 (with my 800 FSB 3 Ghz p4).
Now the thing that makes me wounder is why is it doing this as it results in a speed increase to 3043 mhz?
I should note that my P4's multiplier is locked and cannot be changed in the bios...
    I'm having the same ''problem''.
Are you currently using BIOS version 1.6?
Because with my BIOS version 1.2 nothing appeared to be wrong with the FSB and CPU/ memory clock.
Then I Flashed to v1.6 and it overclocked my system.
My CPU is now running at 3043MHz with a 811MHz FSB ( Core Center says 203*15) and my memory is also running at 811MHz.
Can you check the clocks of your graphics card? Because my Radeon 9800 Pro was running in v1.2 at stock speed (340MHz/380MHZ) and now with v1.6 at 351MHz/391MHz.
I don't mind about this ''overclocking'', but when it fu**s up my hardware I can't blame MSI because they are not responsible for overclocking X(

LG DVD/CDRW Combo IDE 2 slave
    19 Samsung Syncmaster
I am having problems with my new 875P LSR.  Installed O/S and software using FAT 32 and it wiped on 2 occasions.  Could not boot up trying all the sugestions on the web. Using Partition MAgic rescue disk I could still see the drives and was able to check for errors but when I used my old 98 boot disk C: came up with a message of invalid media but D: was still readable?  During both  the previous setups I used the F6 option and loaded the Intel raid XP driver for ICHR, was this the reason for my loss of system.
On my third try I used the same partitions but did not use the F6 option and also formatted in NFTS (by accident).  Everything appeard to be working so far BUT!!!!!.  I don't want the system to do over clocking I just want a secure setup for stability in normal use. I do not play games, I use the inter4net, edit my home movies and normal word processing,
    Questions
    What am I doing wrong?
What should the cofigreration for the bios onboard ID chip be. I have Mine set in Native mode, P ATA + S ATA, NO, NO, Both, S ATA 1st channel, S ATA PO1 PO2 Raid NO
Do I need to use the Intel IAA driver -or- does XP have drivers -or- do I have to download some other driver or controler for the S ATA.
Can anyone suggest a better layout for my system and how can I tel if the computer is operating with the proper drivers for S ATA, P ATA, H/T and all the other gagets on board.  Any suggestions and advise will be appreciated

    Hi back
Thanks again for the response, followed your instructions now I show a 82801eb under the controler section.  Is that all I needed?  Another question I like to keep a copy of windows 98 se on my other drive and would like to use the F11 key to boot to it.  Is there a procedure of installing it so I don't screw up my XP system.  I use a disk tray to keep the drive in so I can take it out for safety as I also store backups of my personel files on it.  Your sugestions are really appreciated.   Swan705

  • K7N2GM2-LSR Install Problems

    Hello,
I am having a terrible time installing a K7N2GM2-LSR motherboard and am hoping someone can make some suggestions or point me in the right direction.  The main problem is video corruption.
    This is my setup:
Brand new K7N2GM2-LSR with MSI BIOS 3.3 (not listed on website, has date of 8/30/2004)
    AMD Athlon XP 2200+ (1800Mhz, 13.5 x 133Mhz)
    NEC 3520 DVD Burner
    Maxtor 80GB Hard Drive
(Brand new Athenatech MicroATX Case A301WG.Q300)
-Tried multiple sticks of memory (listed later in post)
The board boots ok.  I can get into the BIOS (I had to set the correct FSB, maintaining 1:1 ratio with memory, etc).  Initially I was running a CD-ROM bootdisc with Memtest86+ to make sure I was using memory that worked ok.  That program worked fine.  I moved on to running Knoppix 3.7 off of a CD for further testing.  Early in this process Knoppix did boot up and seemed to work ok.
My main problem is trying to install Windows 2000 w/sp4.  Right after loading up all the drivers and it starts the actual true installation process the screen completely corrupts itself and the installation process seems to stop.
    Example picture:
    Larger picture: http://home.dejazzd.com/mfrench/example_image.jpg
This same type of problem also started occuring on Knoppix as soon as it would start loading and installing itself (when the penguin appears on the upper left hand corner of screen)
I have tried 5 different sticks of memory: 1 PQI 128MB 2100 Single-sided stick, 2x Corsair 512MB XMS3200C2 and 2x Corsair 512MBXL3200C2 chips.  I've tried just using one stick of the Corsairs, etc.  The PQI single sided stick seemed to work best in Memtest86+ and knowing the temperment of nforce2 IGP I've primarily been using that.
I have tried 2 different power supplies: The one that came with the Athenatech case I'm using and an Antec True330.
The CPU seems fine.  I know from experience about carefully installing heatsinks and everything seems ok with that.
I thought of maybe the Northbridge chipset was getting hot.  I tried carefully applying better thermal paste (Arctic Silver Ceramique) on the heatsink and making sure it was making good contact with the chip.
I've tried adjusting the BIOS settings, disabling the audio, adjusting the memory settings lower, changing the size of the frame buffer, etc.
Nothing has helped the problem.  I'm tempted to believe the motherboard is bad or it's just something silly.
Anyone have any ideas?  Thanks in advance to anything suggested....

Here are the power readings directly from the BIOS using my Antec True330 power supply:
vcore:      1.64 (right on for this model Athlon XP)
    +3.3:       3.31
    +12.0:     11.91
    +5.0:       4.99
    Battery:   3.08
    +5VSB     5.10
I took the motherboard out, cleaned the northbridge and heatsink and re-applied thermal grease (this time using standard grease similar to what was on there in the first place).  I used the jumper to reset the BIOS settings.  Reinstalled motherboard and ONLY physically attached necessary wires (omitted the Front USB, TV Out card, etc...I am using the CPU 4-prong additional power).
By default my Athlon XP 2200+ is recognized as 1350Mhz (100x13.5).  I left it at that and tried installing Windows 2000 with sp4.  IT INSTALLED FINE.  Everything seemed to be working fine.  I didn't want to change any BIOS settings until I got a true temp reading in Windows of the CPU.
Unfortunately, the MSI Core Center does not support this motherboard.  Motherboard Monitor does not directly support it (it was abandoned before this motherboard was available in the mainstream probably).  I adjusted Motherboard Monitor to read some temp settings from the motherboard.  The temp readings were a little unbelievable.  Initially I was getting a reading of 127 degrees celcius!  It dropped down to 61 degrees almost immediately which is still to high.
(Is it possible MBM was reading a diode showing the Northbridge temp?)
Any suggestions for getting true temp readings while booted into Windows with the K7N2GM2 mobo?
Since I've seemed to eliminate everything else, my next step is to try another CPU.  I have a 1900+ in another machine which I will try tomorrow.

  • PT880 Neo installing problem

I am trying to install Windows XP, but it can't detect my hard drive. It is a Hitachi 83 Gb SATA drive plugged into serial 1. I know this has been asked many times. I searched the site, and many people say you have to install the SATA drivers during th install by pressing F6 during setup. Some also say if you are using serial 1 or 2, you should not have to install any drivers and Win XP should detect the drive without drivers. The problem is I don't know what/where these drivers are to do this. I have the MSI Drivers and Utilities cd that came with my motherboard, is the drivers on this?
I am totally lost and any help would be great.
    My Specs:
    MSI PT880 Neo
    P4 2.8 GHz 533-MHz system bus, 512-KB L2, 800 FSB
    GeForce FX 5200
    Hitachi 83 GB SATA drive
    512 DDR ram

I've had many problems with installing the W2k OS on a system with only SATA 1 installed. I have the PT880 Neo FSR MS-7043. I've read the posts here about the PSU, and my unit only has 16 amps on the +12V output. It is a Coolermaster RS-350-AMSR unit. I have the Intel P4 3.2G E (Prescott).
Anyway, I got all the same problems. Sometimes I get file read errors during the o/s install, other times I can get completely through the installation, only to get the infamous blue screen later on.
I have attempted this install on two identical systems, both have the same problems. I'm not so sure the current requirement on +12v is the answer because that voltage is used mostly for the PATA/SATA drives, floppy drive, and CD/DVD players. Anyway, I'm going to switch out the PSU with one that has at least 22 amps on the +12v as suggested here. The reason I say that is because I was able to build the other identical system and it worked fine until today - getting the **STOP** IRQL_NOT_LESS_THAN error.
For your French, I always saw the SATA in the BIOS setup page. Be sure the SATA only has one (1) power connector connected. Most of these drives have the legacy "white" 4 pin receptacle in addition to the SATA new power receptacle, which is "black" and has 5 pins. If you connect both of them, it will damage the drive.

  • PT880 + SATA repeating problems!

    Hello
I'm a new member in this forum, I have read some threads and I was impressed by the answers  - ultra professional!
I am a part of a company that resells MSI products among others.
We have sold a lot of MSI Configurations including PT-880 mobo's.
We have been selling these board extensivly for 6 months & we have a repeating problem specificly with the combination of S-ATA Disks & MSI PT880 mobo.
The problem: Custumers keep returning with OS that won't start up (It gets stuck in the loading screen) or the OS boots but it doesn't load it loops constantly.
After diagnsing the systems we have always found Bad sectors in the HDD.
It didn't happen to custumers with ATA drives It didn't happen to custumers with intel's 865PE chipset. But with the VIA PT880 & SATA disk it happens repeatedly like a disease.
It is well known that S-ATA is a new technology & not yet perfected yet, but this problem is beyond this.
All returning computers are ofcourse Flashed with the newest BIOS version
If you have any suggestions, questions  or Ideas considering what is the main source of this problem I would be happy to be advised...

    Hi,
DO NOT use 1.5 Bios.......it works but is slow on the booting/post side...
1.4 is fast but has niggles with Prescott and SATA.....
    1.7 is BEST and TESTED..........
Also, please check PSU can support min of 18Amps on +12V.....
With 1.7 Bios installed you should have no problems with hardware on this mainboard...... (Have tested with an Intel EE cpu.....lot of money too have lying around..... )

  • PT880 Major AGP problems....

Hello, i've obtainted this PT880 board 2 weeks ago and i had nothing but trouble on the graphical part. 1st i had a ati 9800 that was sort of blown up all of a sudden (no overclocking or anything else). I guess that card was already broken when i got it. Now i have a new one, a sapphire 9800pro 128mb ddr.
Every time i play a game my pc freezes after about 3 minutes.
I tried putting a bit more power to the card in the bios but that won't help at all.
I tried a clean xp install with latest omega drivers, but i still have this problem.
I really don't know what to do, if someone knows anything please post a reply
My board bios is flashed to version 1.5 + all latest drivers.

Ok here are my powersupply amp thingies:
    +5v=50A
    +12v=18A
    +3,3=28A
I ran that memorytool and passed 12 tests without any errors.
Also tried putting the DDR to 2.8volt, but that didnt make my gaming nice either :(
My cpu temp is around 45 degrees, but when i go encode divx or play a game it'll raise to about 71 degrees.
Also very often when a game starts freezing it'll shut down and show me the VPU-Recoverscreen from ATi, that it wasnt able to reset my graphic accelerator as it was no longer responding to graphic driver commands.
Im really kind of afraid that i might kill another ati card.
And i really don't know what to do nomore, i'm thinking of taking the mobo back to the shop where i bought it tomorrow and get another one.
Seems like nothing that i change will improve my pc.....
