Ptz decoder rs232

Hello,
I'm making a project about controlling a rotor camera with labview.
These are my hardware devices:
 - a ptz decoder: http://www.chinasecuritysystem.com/IDRS-Brand/DVR-Accessories/PTZ-Decoders/167.html
- a rs232-rs485 converter: http://www.raschkeitsolution.de/images/product_images/popup_...s/54_0.jpg
- a camera rotor:  http://www.videofrank.nl/camera-rotor-pantilt-wand-p-1143.html
The decoder is working with the Pelco-D protocol.
 Have anyone experiencie with controlling the pelco-d protocol in labview?

You need to set the file position before writing to the file.  This requires opening the file first and also be sure to close it when complete.

    I have been unable to work out from the supplied examples how to decode received data from the RS232 connection, the data is being sent from and pic micro-controller (16F877)? How can I do this? Probably over looked something very simple, but this is the first time I have used this software?

    Serial communication is based on transmiting byte-sized (max.) frames, which is why most serial port APIs use strings data types to represent the data, both sent and received.
    I assume you are using the RS232 CVI functions (not VISA). Then, you would use ComRd to read from the serial port. The returned data is stored in a char array (string). The serial driver simply puts the received bytes in this array. The actual format of the data depends on what your instrument is sending. It could be sending ASCII data, interger values (8-bit, 16-bit or 32-bit), little or big endian, etc. The number of data formats is infinite. You need to determine exactly what the device is sending and parse the returned array according to that.

    er that the serial API just provides the communication channel. It doesn't play any role on what is being sent.

    There is not much execution control in the code; the initialization might be done prior or after the write, and you do a read without knowing how many bytes there really is at the port. Use dat flow to ensure that things execute in the correct order, and use the bytes at port to check whether the 7 byte reply has been received, do not read and decode before bytes at port reports that there is 7 bytes available...

  • How to decode a set of datas received from serial port and display image on a canvas based on CVI ?

    I have received a set of datas via rs232 and it contains picture messages. I have to decode the datas first and then display them on a canvas.
    I have known several functions that may be used . Such as
    int SetBitmapData (int bitmapID, int bytesPerRow, int pixelDepth, int colorTable[], unsigned char bits[], unsigned char mask[]);
    int CanvasDrawBitmap (int panelHandle, int controlID, int bitmapID, Rect sourceRectangle, Rect destinationRectangle);
     However,I don't know how to set the following parameters according to the actual pixel values and color values.
    int bytesPerRow, int pixelDepth, int colorTable[], unsigned char bits[], unsigned char mask[]
     What's more,I have no idea how to decode the datas.

    Well, things are getting a bit clearer now.
    1. Your image is actually 240x240 pixel (not 320x240 as you told before). The size of image data is 57600 bytes which corresponds to that frmat (I was puzzled by such a data size compared with larger image dimensions!)
    2. The image is a 8-bits-per-pixel one; this means that you must provide a color palette to create the bitmap
    3. You cannot simply copy image data into bitmap fields in CVI: CreateBitmap always produce an image with pixeldepth matched with display colour depth (normally 24 or 32 bpp)
    All that means that you must:
    1. Create the appropriate color palette with 256 colors: it may be a grayscale or color palette depending on camera characteristics. Grayscale palette can be found in my sample project, while sample colour palettes can be found here (here the description of a "standard" 8-bpp color palette)
    2. Create the bits array correctly dimensioned for the color depth of your monitor
    3. Get each pixel value from the camera, lookup in the color palette for the appropriate colour and create the RGB informations into the bits array in memory
    4. Display the bitmap on the canvas
    As a first step, I would configure my system for 256-color display setting, create a bitmap and simply copy image data into it: you should be able to get the correct image back to your screen.

  • RS232 HANDSHAKING

    I have built a system that uses a Xilinx Spartan II to decode and route signals from a collection of motion control and feedback devices. LabVIEW communicates with the FPGA over RS232 at 115200baud, with no parity, 8 data and 2 stop bits. I have tried to implement a basic handshaking arrangement in which data is not sent from the FPGA until the RTS line is toggled.
    I have written a sub-Vi that uses the core of the Advance Serial Communications example VI. I have been experiencing timeout problems if I run this VI continuously. My best guess is that I have a race condition between the port actually becoming ready to receive data and the start of data transmission. The framework of this sub-VI is as follows:
    1. configure port
    2. toggle RTS line
    3. set input buffer size
    4. read port
    5. close port
    The delay within the FPGA is negligible and the port register should be empty and ready to receive data before I signal the start of transmission. When does the port become ready to do so?

    If you are using a Whileloop structure in your code, you do not need to use the "Run Continuously" option in LabVIEW. You do not want to open and close your serial port all the time but instead only do the write and read continuously.
    Try run the example vi and verify your system setups are correct. You can also use NI-SPY to capture the execution of your code and see where exactly the timeout occured. If you are worriing about the data not being ready when the VISA read happens, you can use a longer timeout value or have a delay before the read starts.

  • Clearing values from request in decode method

    I am using a custom table paginator. In its ‘decode’ method I have the next code to control whether ‘next’ link is clicked:

    }But the next sequence produces some problems:
    1.     Initial page load.
    2.     Click on ‘next’ link.
    3.     Table navigates ok to next page.
    4.     Reload page (push F5).
    5.     The previous click still remains in the request, so decode method think ‘next’ link is pressed again.
    6.     Application abnormal behaviour arises.
    So, I am trying to clear the ‘next_link’ key from the request, but next code throws an UnsupportedOperationException:

    This works on WinXP but not Linux. Why? It takes the first frame of an animated gif and writes a thumbnail.

    Can I put SQL expressions in decode function or case statement?
    For example,

    None of the above work.
    Can anyone tell me how to make it work?
    Is there any workaround?

    You simply needed and END to your CASE statement;

    I'm writing an HTMLDB application that we will be using to track the number of hours that we put into a project (all projects), and I've got a routine that returns the number of hours that are possible within a given month M-F 8 hours a day. I use this value returned to indicate how many hours have been enterered.

    What I'm wanting is something along the lines of this:

    which will include a decode statement to let me know when the value getting returned into hoursworked on that first column is less than zero which throws off the chart. In this particular case, it has a value of -6 which makes all my percentages go haywire. How would one code this statement to include a decode statement to find out if that sum is returning a negative number?

    We have a pro*cobol file with the next conversion rule into a select defined with a cursor.
    NVL(TO_CHAR(A.F_ALTA,'YYYYMMDD'),' '),     
    NVL(TO_CHAR(A.F_ESTADO,'YYYYMMDD'),' '),
    we store the result data through a fetch of the cursor into two variables (W-F-ALTA and W-F-ESTADO) When the program executes an insert of these two values in a target table, we define the next conversion rule:
    TO_DATE(DECODE(:W-F-ALTA,' ',NULL,:W-F-ALTA),'YYYYMMDD'),
    TO_DATE(DECODE(:W-F-ESTADO,' ',NULL,:W-F-ESTADO),'YYYYMMDD')
    Pro*Cobol and Cobol does not have errors when we precompile and compile the program but, when we execute the generated exe file, Oracle displays the next error:
    ORA-01841 (full) year must be between -4713 and +9999, and not be 0
    We think that the DECODE function is not understood by the cobol or pro*cobol interpreter. If we execute the same code without the DECODE function (only with TO_DATE function) there is no errors in the execution of the program
    somebody knows if there are reported problems with this DECODE function in Pro*Cobol or Cobol and how to solve them?

    TO_DATE(DECODE(:W-F-ESTADO,' ',NULL,:W-F-ESTADO),'YYYYMMDD')The problem is with the input values of :W-F-ALTA and :W-F-ESTADO. Using the first line as an example, what you are saying is if :W-F-ALTA is ' ', substitute it with NULL, any other value should be :W-F-ALTA, then output the TO_DATE value of whatever the result is.
    So if the value of :W-F-ALTA is the wrong charater or in the wrong input format, TO_DATE function does not understand it.
    See examples of success and failures below with your Bind variables substituted with typical values.
    SQL> select TO_DATE(DECODE(' ',' ',NULL,'20060830'),'YYYYMMDD') from dual;

    works fine when you query a database for information. However, when
    you query another query, it seems that CF doesn't recognize it. I
    got errors stating that it found a left parenthesis where it
    expected a FROM key word. Here is a simplified version of what I am

    Query Of Queries syntax error.
    Encountered "(. Incorrect Select Statement, Expecting a
    'FROM', but encountered '(' instead, A select statement should have
    a 'FROM' construct.
    Does anybody know why this doesn't work? Is it just not
    supported? Please note that I have also tried to use the CASE()
    function instead of DECODE() and that resulted in basically the
    same error. For now I an looping over my distinct query with a
    switch statement and manually loading a new query with the data how
    I want it. But it would be a lot cleaner and less code to have the
    DECODE() to work. Thx!

    DECODE() is an Oracle function, not generic SQL. Q-of-Q is a
    very limited subset of SQL and lacks many functions and clauses
    available in standard SQL, especially what you may be used to using
    in your particular RDBMS.
