Public API & better integration with Bookends

Hi, why Apple does not publish the API of Pages '08 to provide better integration with programs, like the reference manager Bookends, which needs these informations for increment the integration? The same appened between MS Word & Endnote, two apps perfect to work together: they crush regularly or alternatively or simultaneously ....
Please, Apple, publish the API ....

I think there was some misunderstanding of your posting. Bookends is a bibliographic program made sold at Sonnysoftware.com. It is in my opinion much better, and is certainly much less expensive, than Endnotes. None of this has anything to do with Bookenz.
I strongly agree that Apple needs to cooperate with the developer of Bookends so that a really good integration can be achieved with Pages, as Bookends has with Mellel. I suppose that means releasing the API.

  • Better Integration with Audition

I'd like to see better integration with Audition. How about being able to use Place to open a sound clip and place it in a multitrack session? Just like when using InDesign, the cursor would change to show a "loaded" state and the clip would be inserted wherever I place my cursor.

Maybe it will be seen, maybe it won't. The only way to be sure your suggestion is received by the Motion development team is to use the FEEDBACK section in the Motion menu.
Menu Bar>Motion>Provide Motion Feedback. When the webpage opens, select Motion from the software list.
Of course, you need to be connected to the internet.
    Good luck.

  • OS X Mountain Lion Messages Beta - Integration with iOS Devices

Finding it slightly disappointing that I can't link my phone number with Messages on the Mac.
I currently recieve all my iMessages on my iPhone through my phone number, and so if I start using Messages on my Mac with my email address I would have none of those conversations to continue, and if I did start conversations they firstly; won't actually go through to my phone (as my Apple ID is not linked with iMessage on my iPhone) and even if they did they would come up as seperate conversations to those already on my phone.
Kind of a confusing post.. and really just asking whether anyone else has downloaded the Messages Beta and realised the same thing?

Having played around with it, I can get Messages to continue with the conversation in the same place on my end which is good. But on the other end the person recieves it from my email and so is in a different place to the rest of the actual convo.
Still would like some form of integration between email and number, but that article certainly shows why the email address works between different types of Apple Device!

  • Better Integration with Audition for Audio Files

Although Bridge is supplied and installed with Audition 2 the implementation is flawed and doesn't reflect what could be done with audio meta data. Audition allows one to view and edit meta data in File Properties but these fields aren't fully reflected in Bridge. Also audio fields accessible in Bridge don't appear in the Wave properties in Audition. Sort it out please Adobe. It could be very useful for users like myself working in audio archives.

  • Acrobat Reader integration with SharePoint 2007

    Hi,
We have been having some major issues with people opening PDF files from document libraries in MOSS 2007.
Firstly in v9.x we find that only one user can access a PDF file at a time because it automatically opens the file as editable. This isn't a problem, however when another user tries to open it instead of being asked to open a read only\local copy, they just get an access violation error. We have found that sometimes even though a user has closed the file, the access violation errors continue and the only way round it is to copy the file locally, delete the original and then copy it back up to the document library.
I see that version X has been written to include much better integration with SharePoint. However our company policy is that we do not use check in\check out, so i'd like to disable this prompt. I've found this article which seems to have instructions on how to do it, however the registry change does not seem to have made any difference. I notice that on that article is says "DO NOT PUBLISH THE DOCUMENT EXTERNALLY UNTIL 10.1 SHIP". I'm unsure whether this is a typo and it's meant to be 10.01 which has recently been released or whether this article should not yet be available.
Has anyone managed to get the registry change working?
    Cheers

  • Real Advantages of Data Integrator integrated with SAP

    Hi
Can anybody please tell me what is the real advantages of Data Integrator reading from SAP R3 / ECC and performing ETL to SAP BW 7.
I do not know enough on the intergration between the two systems. I have a perspective client looking at the solotion but needs some motivation.
    Thanks

I would definitely not go down that route. There is good R/3 to BW integration, without BODI in the middle. In this scenario I would see BODI as overhead only, which will slow your development down and will show your day to day load processes down. I can't see any benefit at all.
If you have complicated transformations, use ABAP in your transformations. That is much more powerful than scripting on the BODI side.
If you do use BODI you will find it a struggle first to extract data from R/3 and then to load data into BW. You probably end up creating a lot of extra objects on both sides just to make BODI work. BODI will certainly not make your load processes better performing and from a maintenance point of view I don't see any benefits at all.
Maybe in the future when BODI has a better integration with both R/3 and BW it might become useful, but at this point in time I fail to see any benefits.
I would only use BODI if I wanted to integrate data from various platforms, not for a single (SAP) platform.
I would advise against a scenario using BODI for loading R/3 to BW.
    I hope this helps...

  • Rant: lack of basic integration with os X-Still?!?!?

Seriously, I don't mean to flame but…at Bridge CS5, I was really hoping much better integration with some native os X basic functionalities that really impacts the workflow:
Drag and drop an image from any browser to CS5 : uncheck.
Supports of favorites from os X : still uncheck!!! Well, at least we have a desktop shortcut : wonderful.
I'm not asking for the sky, here! Every other os X app accepts these conventions and builds upon it. Why do I have to think differently every time I open Bridge? These are just some fundamental OS integration principles. Gee, no wonder Jobs is making a point with the whole cross-platforming issue really slowing down os-based advances… Am I missing something here?

  • SRM 7.0 for Public Sector integrated with FM (Budget Control System)

    Hello!
I'm starting an implementation project of ERP 6.0 and SRM 7.0 for Public Sector.
It would be necesary the integration not only SRM with ERP but with FM (Fund Management), with BCS (Budget Control System) specifically.
Is it possible? has anyone experience on it?
Thks so much in advance and best regards!
    Marcela.-

    Hi,
Certainly... If you have FM implemented in your project, you will have to make integration with SRM.
I did it some 3 years ago and it was quite problematic (a lot of notes were created by SAP on this matter, also as initiative from our project), but since then, I assume, it should not pose specific problems.

  • Error calling EBusiness Suite Public API's from SOA

Hi, I'm doing some proof of concept work with SOA Suite v 10.1.3.10. When I try to call any of the EBiz suite public API's that have user defined types for records and tables passed as parameters I get the following error when the Oracle Application Adaptor tries to create the WSDL and necessary sql scripts:
Error while writing wsdl file C:\Program
    Files\jDeveloper\jdev\mywork\CRMTest\CRMTest\CRMOut3.wsdl.
    Exception:
    The wrapper procedure, CS_SERVICEREQUEST_PUB$CREATE_,
could not be found in the package, XX_BPEL_CRMOUT3, for the schema, APPS.
To move beyond this I created a skeleton stored procedure containing a declaration for the
CS_SERVICEREQUEST_PUB$CREATE_ function (and selected overwrite script in the wizard) and am now getting the following error:
Error while writing wsdl file C:\Program
    Files\jDeveloper\jdev\mywork\CRMTest\CRMTest\CRMOut3.wsdl.
    Exception:
Unable to expand a user defined type definition.
An unexpected exception occurred while trying to analyze teh user defined type definition of parameter .
Check to ensure that the user defined type is defined correctly in the database. Contact oracle support if
    error is not fixable.
This works fine for the API's that just use basic types. I've also tried this with the Database Adapter and this seems to work OK too, just not with the Oracle Application Adapter.
Thanks for any help you can provide
    Mike

    Hi Christine,
It looks like a couple of the Application Servers aren't starting when OC4J starts, I need to hunt through the logs to identify the source of the problem but in the meantime I'm starting them manually from the Application Server Control. To do this expand the OC4J server and check that all the services are running (green up arrow) any that are down, click on them and start them manually. I had to manually start hw_services and deploy_service but the Worklist now runs fine.
It's possible that you won't see this problem yourself as you're upgrading from a later release than I started from but from a brief google session it looks like others have seen the same problem for different reasons. I've seen some posts that refer to the default port of the Worklist changing so that it needs starting with http://host:8988/integration/worklistapp/Login instead of http://host:8888/integration/worklistapp/Login.
Because I'm also having problems shutting down SOA suite I suspect that the patch has mangled one of the configuration scripts and I'll post the root cause when I've had chance to pore over the logs.
    Regards
    Mike

  • Using OSB for Public API (REST)

    Hi there,
Is it a good practice to use Oracle Service Bus to expose a PUBLIC REST API?
The idea is to have a separeted OSB instance which will be in the WEB so that other partners and applications (Native Mobile, for instance) can access some of our services. The application layer will have many different applications, like SAP, JEE systems, Cobol and others. But the public API will be design in a more RESTful fashion.
    What about security?
What about performance? (Parsing JMS, XML and others into JSON will probably create extra load into the OSB).
What are be the advantages of using OSB instead of a more traditional Service Layer?
P.S.: We are being careful with the design of our API, sometimes the underlying system doesn't help, so some transformation has to happen (more load!) in order to make the API elegant and meaningful.
    Cheers

Personally, I'd prefer Collections as they are nice to work with. Their only annoying issue is certainly the constant casting as soon as you retrieve Objects from them.
I do not consider the documentation of what those Collection include too big a problem. Just include a line for each Collection parameter stating "Set of Strings" or the like. I wouldn't even check the type through instanceof, I'd just cast. If a ClassCastException is thrown, I think that's the proper thing to do.
As you might have noticed, there is a proposal of "Generics" for Java, which would adopt something like those template classes known in C++. There is even a beta implementation available, so you can go ahead and code your Set<String>. Time will tell if this proposal finds its way into the official Java standard, the drawback being a more complex syntax. If you want to know more about it, check out those links:

  • MDM Integration with ERP system

    Hello MDM Guru's.
In our system Landscape, use Baan ERP system to fetch data into MDM, cleanse it and push data to SRM/BI system for Business Requirements.
Our MDM is neither connected to any R/3 (ECC) system. we want to have a kind of Reports developed for MDM Data present in our system based on Companies (our Manufacturing sites) and have a automatic mapping of our Manufacturers , Suppliers & Customers based on Global and local Stratergy.
According to my understanding, we can use MDM API's (ABAP or Java). As MDM is not integrated with any of the ERP (ECC or Netweaver Data base)?
We have options to integrate MDM with ECC 6.0 & Netweaver system. Which could be a better option to connect with? we are planning to integrate MDM with E-Portal too, could Portal data base be used.
    Please guide me.
    Thanks in advance
    Cheers
    MSR

    Hi Srihari,
If you want to use MDM in you landscape and store and cleanse data in it and then sent the cleansed data to a reporting tool for analysis then you can do it in one of the methods:
    - Either connect MDM to the other systems in your landscape using XI as the means of data trnasfer
    - Or connect MDM to other systems using the API.
In the first method.you need to use PI/XI to manage the flow of master data to and from your MDM system to others. MDM can be used for data cleansing and enrichment within MDM before syndicating it out.
In the second method you can connect to MDM through other systems using the API.
As you mentioned about reporting on the master data in MDM based on the Companies or manufacturing sites etc.You can achieve this suing MDM ABAP API.
ABAP can be sued as a reporting tool.wherein it will connect to your MDM system through the configured API and fetch the MDM data and generate simple reports .
If you wish to access the MDM data online you can use portal front end. but in this case portal wont be capable to store any information as it is just a front  end.
You will have to use MDM as a backend storage system.JAVA API can be used for futher customization on EP.
For ABAP API use you can refer the below link:

  • Oracle Secure Enterprise Search integration with Hadoop

    Hello Guys,
I am currently exploring Oracle SES for performing search across all enterprise information assets. One of my asset is a Hadoop system holding a huge dump of data.
Does SES have out of box integration with Hadoop (hdfs) or is there any specific connector available that can be used to make the connection and search data.
I am new to Oracle SES, appreciate if someone could answer this question.
    Thanks,
    Sooraj

It can be done but it's not easy.
Federation is done through the Web Services API. To create a custom federation to a non-SES endpoint, you have to replicate most of the Web Services API. You can choose to do it selectively, for example you can choose to implement doOracleSearch but not doOracleAdvancedSearch or doOracleBrowseSearch (names from memory - could be wrong) which would give you the basic search capability but no advanced search or browse against the federated source.
Then you've got the problem of merging results. When all federated sources are SES based, it's easy to merge them. You know that a document which scores 63 fron one source is more accurate than one that scores 62 from another, and so should appear higher in the hitlist. But if one of those sources is - say - Bling, then how do you that 63 as a score from Bling is comparable to 63 as a score from SES? They're probably not comparable.
These are the reasons that mention of federation to external sources was removed from the 10.1.8.4 documentation, it was felt that it just wasn't practical for most users.
A rather better alternative is to use the Suggested Content feature. This is MUCH easier to configure, and doesn't attempt to merge the results. From a user's point of view this may be less desirable than a merged result set, but given that any such merge probably won't work well, it's really better all round.

  • BSP Integration with Documentum

    Hi all Guru,
I have a integration problem, i want to <b>integrate my BSP Application with " Documentum "</b> i.e access " Documentum " from my BSP Application.
Can you please tell me How it is possible and how can integrate two systems?
What configration is required on both systems, any API available, required glue code for integration?
    Please let me know.
    Thanks in advance

    Raja,
First I regret for late reply as i am waitng reply from my team.
Currently it is not integrated with the system, but it’s possible. Basis can do this for us. But they need the specification or requirement for this integration. So basis fallow it?
    2nd is ,
I think better to give you more idea what I mean by  “Integration with Documentum ”  for your better understanding. So you can assist me in a better way.
Scenario: I want to load documents ( word , excel, PDF ….. etc)  in a particularly Directory of Documentum from my BSP Application. i.e. just a click by user and the selected documents start load into Documentum in a specific Directory. The main Objective is all this operation will be done from a BSP interface and transparent to the user about backend jobs and overcome manual work. i.e. copy paste from system to Documentum .
