Public Folder Hierarchy From 2003 - LDAP Provider Error

I am in the process of moving the public folders.  Currently all data from within the folders has been migrated over and the old servers have been removed from replication.  My next step is to move the Hierarchy, when I drag the folder from the
2003 Administrative group to the 2010 Administrative group I receive the following:
Exchange System Manager
The server is unwilling to process the request.
Facility: LDAP Provider
ID no: 80072035
Exchange System Manager
OK
I have gone through the permissions for the ADSI objects and folders.  According to them the user that is performing the action has the rights to do so.

Hi,
In order to troubleshoot the issue more efficiently, I need to clarify some information.
1. Could you expand the public folder hierarchy in Exchange 2003?
2. Is there any error messages in the application log?
3. Could you please run EXBPA to check the health of the Exchange 2003? What's the result?
Here is an article about migrating public folders from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010, could you please follow that to check the result?

  • Public Folder Migration from Exchange 2007 to 2013 fails RelinquishedWlmStall budget limitations

I have been trying to migrate approx 50 public folders from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013 for several months.  I have followed every link I can find on how to do the migration properly.  It will stay in a queued state for hours until the MRS is
restarted.  It will then start copying messages.  After reaching 28% I get RelinquishedWlmStall as Status Detail.  Running the Get-PublicFolderMigrationRequestStatistics -IncludeReport | fl command I get the following: (truncated)

It never tries to restart.  Can anyone please help?  The server checks for health all come back ok.   I will be more than glad to include further information.

    Hi,
Basic on the error message, I notice that public folder migrate slow and display that “Relinquishing job because of large delays due to unfavorable server health or budget limitations” .
If I misunderstand your concern, please do not hesitate to let me know.
Since it is just slow and not failing, please do not stop the batch, it might connect to another server for sync.
Meanwhile, please refer to below link so that get details about Exchange Online migration performance and best practices:

If the issue persists, please collect the relevant migration report for further troubleshooting.
    Thanks

  • Replication of Public Folder data from Exchange Sp1 to Exchange SP2

I have one Exch 2010 SP1 server and I am migrating to another Exch 2010 SP2 server.  I am looking to migrate the old public folder data to a newer public folder database on the SP2 server.  I have gone into Public Folder Management and added the
new server as a replication partner in properties of the folder, under "Replicate content to these public folder databases".  After doing this, I don't see any replication occurring from the 2 servers.  I turned on diagnostic logging on
both and I don't see any errors being created, just seem like nothing is happening.
What should I look for to troubleshoot this further?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi JoeyC,
From your description, I would like to clarify the following things for troubleshooting:
    1. Make sure that Mail flow is working between two servers.
    2. Please refer to the following article to confirm that the configuration is right.
    Configure Public Folder Replication

Migration from 2003 - 2010, OAB errors on client, and OAB virtual directory does not contain any files.

    Hi,
Please re-create the Outlook profile to have a try. If the issue persists, we can do the further checks in Exchange server.
Please make sure you have changed the OAB generation server to Exchange 2010 and enable Web distribution on the Exchange 2010 Client Access server:
Move-OfflineAddressBook "Default Offline Address List" -Server <MBX2010>
If all configurations are correct, please check whether there is any folder in the following path in Exchange sever 2010:
    a. OAB generation in Mailbox:
    \\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V14\ExchangeOAB
    b. OAB distribution in Client Access:
    \\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V14\ClientAccess\OAB

  • How do I export public folder data from inactive exchange server?

I have migrated from SBS2003 (old) to SBS2008 (new)
Used migration wizard / answer etc...  All went well, expect for the public folders; which failed.
Question: How do I retrieve the public folder information from the OLD (inactive) server and import it to the NEW server?
The OLD server has been removed from the domain. I have backups of the OLD server and its original hard drive; where the public store info is located.
I tried PDDAVAdmin.exe; did not work for me.
    All help is greatly appreciated.
    Bill

    Hi Amit,
I did as Zoltán said; searched the Internet for edb recovery tools and found a number of companies and Software Products which might help. I also considered your option as well but I have limited experience with building a recovery server and it sounds time consuming.
Our office is small we have 10 users; we keep contact lists in the public folders. I want to restore the contact lists from the inactive source server to the active destination.
I believe the process is called "rehoming" (from the web -- "In a Windows environment, rehoming is the process of moving public folders from one Exchange server to another. It involves the creation of a replica of the public folders on the target destination server, waiting for replication to complete, and then removing the public folders from the original source server.")
    Background:
We have two servers FHHSERVER (the source, SBS2003) and FHHSERVER2 (the destination, SBS2008).
I used the SBS2008 migration wizard. The important stuff in the exchange database transferred ok; all emails, schedules, tasks, notes, etc. Everything appeared to work; including public folders.
Microsoft allows a 21 day grace period to complete the migration. I believed the migration was successful so on the 21st day, I followed Microsoft’s instructions and demoted the source server, removing it from the domain.
    That’s when the trouble started….
Unknown to me; the public folders remained on the old source server. I did not detect this problem since, during the 21 day migration grace period, the destination server was using the old source server to replicate public folders. As long as the old source server was active, eveyone could open public folder contact lists. After the source server was demoted, the destination server lost its replicate and now our users cannot access that information.
Another problem is that the inactive server is n o longer licensed and the Exchange console cannot connect to its stores.
It would seem to me that this problem should be relatively simple to fix. I need some way to open the public folder stores and export the contact lists. I’m not even sure where the public folder database is located on the hard drive.
I hope this explains the situation in greater detail and that you may be able to offer some insight on how I might resolve this issue.
Oh, I also tried using EXMerge but cannot seem to make it work either. <http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=429163EC-DCDF-47DC-96DA-1C12D67327D5&displaylang=en>

  • Public Folder Migration from Exchange 2007 to 2013

    Hi Guys,
I have a general Exchange 07-13 migration question about migrating the PF's and System Folder Information, I read somewhere that the SystemFolder info doesn't come across, can someone shed some light on this for me please?
    Thanks,
    Ray

    Hi Ray,
Free/Busy information is stored in system public folder. If you want to decommission the Exchange 2007 Server, you need to add the replicas to Exchange 2013 Server.
What's more, if the users use Outlook 2003, they will rely on the Free/Busy folders. If the users are using Outlook 2007 or newer, then Outlook utilizes something called the Availability Service and no longer relies on the Free/Busy folder.
Please refer to the following article to migrate public folders from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013.

  • Public Folder Migration from Exchange 2007 to Exchage 2007

    Dear All,
We are having 2 exchange 2007 server in single copy cluster (SCR) with 1 branch exchange server in parent domain and another Ex2007 single copy cluster in child domain. We have deployed exchange 2013 SP1 in parent domain with ex2007 co-existence. We have
migrated all parent domain users mailbox from Ex2007 to Ex2013 SP1. All Ex2007 have public folders (FP). We want to decommission public folder server in parent domain and want to keep PF only in child domain (Ex2007) which should be accessible by all users.
We are facing a strange issue. As told earlier, in parent domain for ex2007 we have 2 Server in single copy cluster + 1 branch. Both have 1 FP each. We want to remove branch 1st. We ran "MoveAllReplica.ps1" script on branch to move all replica
to single copy cluster. Now it shows system folder with all 0 contents as shown below:
    [PS] C:\Windows\system32>Get-PublicFolderStatistics -Server branch
    Name                                     ItemCount

Now the issue is, if we dismount the FP store on branch server, all users are unable to access their FP. they get error saying exchange is down for maintenance. If we see connection status then we saw that its trying to connect branch FP server. In all client
setting we have removed branch server PF folder. What are we missing? Now our users who migrated to Ex2013 don't have any FP client setting also to look into. We tried reading lots of stuff but nothing seems to fix. Any advise is highly appreciated.
Feel free to revert for any clarity!!
    Thanks in advance!!

    Dear All,
We did little research and below are the results:
    1. After moving Mailbox from SingleCopyCluster(SCC) DB to Ex2013, the user while connecting to PF connects to branch exchange PFs (where is his client setting points to SCC PF). He can access PF on SCC as well
    2. If we discount branch PF DB, user gets error "Exchange server down for maintenance" while expanding PF. If we see connection status then it shows trying to connecting to Branch PF
    3. If we move the mailbox back to old Ex2007 SCC, users connects to right PF (only SCC) and can work without issue even if we discount branch PF DB
As we have migrated MBX to Ex2013, there is no client setting to point migrated users to SCC PF.
Hope it help all of you to suggest what might fix this..
    Thanks again..

  • Move Mailbox database and Public Folder database from VMwar RDM drive to VMware VMFS/VMDK Drive

    Good Afternoon,
So I have 1 DAG with 3 mailbox server (1 physical and 2 Virtual (vmware)).  The Vmware server Mailbox and Public folder databases/logs are currently on RDM drive.  I need to get rid of the RDM drives and use VMFS/Vmdk drives for mailbox and public
folder databases.  I was thinking 3 options:
1- Introduce new VM Members into DAG and simply give these new VMs VMFS/VMDK drives, add servers into DAG and have DAG replicate databases to new server.  I really don't want to do this.
2-On current VM, delete RDM drive along with database, add VMFS/VMDK drive replacement and have the DAG copy database.
3- On current VM, suspend replication, copy database/logs in temp location, delete the RDM drive, create the VMFS/VMDK drive, copy the database and logs to new drive, enable replication.  Do the same for public folder database/logs, but not sure how
to stop/start replications, since its not in DAG?
I'm looking for solution that will take least amount of time.  Option 3 seems best solution, but not sure if there any gotchas.. What are you thought??

Take the database offline means stop replications to the the passive mailbox server?
Also, what is procedure to take public folder offline.  We have public folder replicated on all 3 servers.
    Hi cuttabutta,
Yes, take the database offline on the passive server can stop replication from primary server.
you can also take the public folder database offline to stop replication.
In addition, you can refer to the following article to configure public folder replication:

  • Exchange 2010 Recover Public Folder database from replication database.

Following a hardware failure on Saturday, one of our public folder databases was dismounted, and was corrupt. I was able to run eseutil /p to get to a clean shutdown state, but I still couldn't mount and more research suggested that the logs for the database
were corrupted and unrecoverable (Log file: E:\logs\EXCH-PFDB1\E0100007E16.log
ERROR: Log damaged (unusable). Last Lgpos: (0x7e16,9,0). Error - 501.)
Everything i can find suggests that at the point where it makes the most sense just to restore the database. We do have another public folder database, which is set up to replicate all of its data with the one that went down, so this
should be relatively easy. However I want to make sure that I don't do it wrong and end up deleting my good database. What's the proper procedure for this? I can't seem to find anyone who has documented it.

Thank you Gulab.  This worked for me after a drive holding the Public Folder database logs failed. I first replaced the drive and recreated the folder structure.  I then ran a Symantec Backup Exec restore job which failed although some
log files did recover.  Unfortunately, I could still could not mount the Public Folder Database so I ran
Eseutil /mh which confirmed a dirty shutdown. I then emptied all files from the Log folder which appeared as a result of the restore job and ran Eseutil /p which was successful.
I was then able to mount the Public Folder Database and I could see the contents of the Public Folders in Outlook and the Log folder started to populate from the DAG's second copy.

  • Accounts in UCM 11g from external LDAP provider

    Hi,
We are developing an application using UCM 11g. For authentication and authorization we are using external LDAP. Following are the steps followed to configure the UCM 11g for external LDAP.
    1) Created User and Groups directory in LDAP
    2) Created user and group in LDAP.
    3) Assigned users to the groups.
    3) Created accounts in group directory .Account name start with @ and ends with (RW)
    4) Created a new provider in WLS.
    5) Created a new JpsProvider in UCM.
Now, roles(groups in LDAP) and user are coming properly form LDAP. but the accounts are populating in UCM.
Can anybody tell me the solution for this problem
    Thanks in advance..
    Regards,
    Nitin

In theory there is no limit, but as with most of the products and features inside the Content Server it comes down to design and size impacting performance.
So there is no simple answer.
The more complex answer is you need to try to keep things as simple as possible while still completing your goals.
For instance the Folders component in 11g is limited (hard coded) to 1000 files per folder maximum due to performance degradation if you put more in your folders. Many people just try to put more in and before the hard coded limit in 11g people did and their folders browsing became almost unusable due to slow browsing of the folder structure and files in side.
Similarly with Security we can impact performance with too many security groups, badly designed Roles to access security groups or badly designed Account structures. Notice I only said "too many" on Security groups but not "too many" on Accounts. You should try never to go above 25 security groups (this is not a hard coded limit just a best practice) and the "badly designed" part of roles and accounts can lead to bad performance and even broken security.
It comes down to DB performance, DB limitations and code limits.
First off be aware that there is a limit on how long a query in the DB can be. Commands and SQL in the DB are not endlessly long, there is a maximum number of characters. Keep that in mind as we go along into the next parts.
Second be aware that if you make a badly built query it will take a long long time.
Third be aware that when you are building security models in UCM these security structures go DIRECTLY to DB queries and remember the above 2 points.
So every search in UCM is a query when you take it back to the DB level, and every search requires a behind the scenes security check to make sure you can read the documents you are searching for. So any query built in the search interface gets an additional set of parameters automatically when executed (security).
So now we need to also think about your Metadata and not just the Security on that limited length DB back end. Do your users have 99 metadata fields (I hope not) and if they do do they use most of them while searching? How long will that query be before you add the security query?
Back to the security parts with accounts.
If you have your users having only a few roles providing only access to a small number of security groups and those same users only having a few accounts then searches will get a short security access query added since the number of additional checks for security are small. If the roles and group accesses and account accesses are very large (to the extreme limit) again this will be easy to make a short query due to the small number of excluded security roles and accounts.
BUT and this is a biggie. IF the users are given a number of roles and accounts that is middle of the road for number of total accesses then the query is as long as it can be and if the metadata is complex and large too then you may be running into the limit of Query string in the DB and your query may get truncated which results in a broken security model maybe.
That is not even talking about the efficiency of the query and how long it takes.....
Sorry for the book like reply to your simple question, but it really is not a simple question. :)

  • How do you determine folder hierarchy from WWSBR tales?

This question seems like if fits better in the content forum...
Anyway, the following code snippit from Hervi Deschamps website - http://www.iherve.com/oracle/FastLoad.htm might be a start toward what you're looking for
    select LPAD(title,length(title)+(level-1)*6,'.'), id
    from wwv_corners
where siteid >10 -- only user defined folders
    start with parentid = 0
connect by parentid = prior id and
    siteid = prior siteid and

  • Error when moving Exchange Public Folder Tree Hierarchy

    Hello,
I am during the transition from Exchange 2003 to 2007.
At the end of migrating Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2007 I have moved all the mailboxes, Public and System Folders have been replicated and moved, Mailbox Store and Public Store had been removed, Routing Connectors removed ...
I then created new Public Folder Container in Exchange Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT) and I attempted to drag and drop the Public Folder Tree Hierarchy from old Administrative Group to Exchange Administrative Group using ESM 2003.
During this I got the following error:
    Access Denied.
    Facility: LDAP Provider
    ID no: 8007005
    Exchange System Manager
Every public and system folders works fine (replicated to Exchange 2007), but the Public Folder Hierarchy is still on Exchange 2003.
Anyone has any idea how to continue decommission of Exchange 2003?
    Regards,
    Jacek

As I wrote before, when I tried to drag and drop the Public Folder Tree Hierarchy, I used account which had delegated Exchange Full Administrator role in Exchange 2003 and was also member of Enterprise Admins / Domain Admins in AD and Exchange Organization
Administrators in Exchange 2007. According to Sembee suggestion, it is more than needed ...
I think about manual deleting Public Folder Tree Hierarchy object from old Administrative Group (using ADSIEdit) and then recreating the new one in Exchange Administrative Group - using the following steps:
    http://blog.bruteforcetech.com/archives/766
But I'm not sure if System Folders will be accessible then. There are many Outlook 2003 in organization, so "old" OAB access is necessary ...
I can take report of permissions for the problematic Public Folder Tree Hierarchy object using dsacls.exe, if needed (there are many ACEs in DACL on them). I can also check Effective Permission for user I used for moving.
But in both cases, I don't have any reference. I mean correct permission set for such object or necessary permission set for user used for moving.

    Jacek

  • Public folder replication 2003 2010 not starting

I have ran powershell scripts on exchange 2010 to add replicas recursively (a week ago) I then ran moveallreplicas scipt.
I have checked on 2010 and there are no pf replicas or folders
I checked 2003 and re-added the 2003 server as a replica server and ran pfdavadmin and verified the replication tab and files were all correct.
I then ran exfolders on the 2010 server but that shows no data under replicas or replication or file nothing at all.
I checked the queues on exchange 2003 to make sure the data was not getting backed up but the queues are empty.
Can someone tell me what troubleshooting technique to try next?
***Don't forget to mark helpful or answer***

    Hi,
Please make sure you connect to a public folder server in Public Folder Management Console.
And please make sure you have a public folder database in Exchange 2010 and make sure you see the public folder hierarchy. Without hierarchy, the MoveAllReplicas.ps1 script won't do anything because there are no folders in the hierarchy to modify.
You can use the Get-PublicFolder -Server <NewServerName> cmdlet to check result.
Here is a blog about public folder migration to Exchange 2010 which may help you for your reference.

  • Exchange 2003 Public folder move to exchange2010

we have been running exchange 2010 and exchange 2003 for some time and now its time to remove exchange 2003 while its been running it hasn't been doing anything.
Exchange 2003 is replicating already to exchange 2010 a while ago I did do a move replication (over a 2 months ago got side tracked)
now under public folder instance on exchnge2003
I just see one folder "Schedule + free Busy information -First Administrative Group"
and when you look at replication status on exchange 2003 I see this
PUBLIC FOLDER HIERARCHY                   12/08/2014 2 In Sync
Schedule+ Free Busy Information- first                      2 both Modified
System Configuration                             10/08/2012 2 local modified
I need to get the information over to exchange 2010.
Do I go with a move MoveAllReplicas.ps1 will this overwrite whats on 2010 ?
What is the safest way for me to get this information over to exchange 2010 any suggestions?
