Public Folders missing in XI 3.1

How can I allow an end-user to see the Public Folders link in InfoView XI 3.1?
It was there in XI R2, but disappeared in XI 3.1. I can still see it when I login as Admin.

For the Everyone group, I go to "Assign Security"
On the Access Levels tab:
Under "Available Access Levels" I see Full Control, Schedule, View and View on Demand
Under "Assigned Access Levels" - I see View
On the Advanced tab:
For Filter = "Granted Rights"
I see 1 entry:
Collection = General
Type = General
Right name = view objects
Status = green check
It's still not working?
I don't see any reference to a "Root Folder"
Do I need to do anything with the 2 Inheritance checkboxes?
Am I missing something, or is my install of BOE XI 3.1 messed up somewhere?

    create an ACL file

with the contents something like this:
    user=jeff lrwstipekxa

    Hi,
Since the issue only happens to specific client, the issue should be related to client side. I suggest we can do the following method to narrow down the issue:
    1. Start Outlook in safe mode(Start > Run >type “Outlook /safe”> Enter) to check whether the issue persists.
    2. Perform a clean boot for Windows to have a try.
If the issue doesn’t happen in safe mode, the issue may be caused by any third-party add-ins. We can disable third-party add-ins one by one to find out the root cause.
If the issue persists in Outlook safe mode but not occurs after performing a clean boot, please disable the related third-party program in Windows to resolve the issue. For more information about clean boot, please refer to:

  • Exchange 2013 Public Folders Contents missing

Greetings! We have recently, the last 45 days, migrated from Exchange 2007 to 2013.  Last week, Wednesday evening, while moving Appassure backups from one repository to another our Public Folders went south after a required system reboot.
I can still see the folder structure and subfolders from both a command line and from Outlook, but I cannot see the actual contents of a contact list, a calendar, or a folder mail items.  Instead everyone gets a message telling them "There are no
items to show in this view."  while a constant search is being preformed.
Using the command Get-PublicFolderStatistics I get the IPM_SUBTREE Item count as Zero.  Yet when I preform the command Get-Mailbox -PublicFolder | FL Name,ExchangeGuid I get the name : PFMBX01 with an ExchangeGuid of c5d6cc8f-f406-41aa-a1ad-2a5f6b757deb.
We have backups on the old backup Appassure server, but I cannot locate anything resembling PFMBX01.  I need to find a way to locate those items either on the server or on the backups.  Last week was of course Microsoft Tuesday.  Is it possible
that an update could have caused the contents of the mailboxes to disappear?

  • Problems with Public Folders in Exchange 2010

Last month I upgraded my servers from 2000 to 2010. The route I took for exchange was 2000 -> 2003 -> 2010. Everything went fairly smooth and I have had no real problems until this week. (I have uninstalled the older exchange servers.) I have been
trying to clean out some of the remnants that have been left over from the older servers (for whatever reason the uninstall did not remove the information on the new server). I used ASDI edit to remove some old information that was pointing to the old exchange
server (First Administration Group I think it was called).
After that I upgraded to SP1 and Rollup 1. The Public folder database no longer appears under Organization Configuration, Mailbox. I am not sure if it was there after my deletion or not, so I am unsure if the problem is caused by my deletions or the upgrade.
I followed the instructions found here, http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb727370%28EXCHG.80,printer%29.aspx . The CN=Public folders was found in CN=Folder Hierarchies. However
msExchOwningPFTree is greyed out, so I cannot update it. I have tried to delete it and remake it, same thing.
I also get the following events which I am assuming is caused by the Public Folders database not being mounted:

ive also removed negotiation from the rpc site on the IIS.

  • Mail-enabled Public Folders not showing as enabled in PFMC or EMS

    Good morning
I have some PF's that are mail enabled, but running the Get-PublicFolder cmdlet shows "mailenabled" attribute as False. Also, in the PF Management Console, the folder shows as not mail enabled (with an option to enable it).
I found this thread that seems to be related:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/exchange/en-US/918aad03-c96f-4023-89cc-ec2c66e51b93/mailenabled-public-folders-not-showing-as-mailenabled?forum=exchangesvrgenerallegacy
I'd like to do some testing, but recreating this issue with a test PF is actually really hard.
Does anyone know a way to force that "mailenabled" attribute to False after mail-enabling a PF? I can't find any ADSI attribute that is obvious. I changed MsExchRecipientTypeDetails to <not set> but that didn't do it...
**UPDATE** I just found out that msExchMailboxGuid is missing from that object. Does anyone have any kind of suggestion for how I can find the Guid of the mailbox that is no longer associated with this PF?
**UPDATE 2** I have found other PF's that are missing this attribute, but they are not displaying any symptoms. They are showing as mail enabled in the EMS and PFMC. So I guess this isn't a required attribute.
Could anyone explain the purpose of this attribute for mail-enabled public folders? I just assumed it was required.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
Do you migrate these mail-enabled public folders from previous Exchange server to Exchange 2010?
Please check if you can see the SMTP address for mail-enabled public folders via Properties of Public folders.
Please check if they show in the Microsoft Exchange System Objects in ADUC.
Besides, I recommend you mail disable the public folder and then mail enable it again to check the result in the Public Folder Management Console.
For a mail-enabled recipient, a minimum set of attributes is required to make all Exchange components work properly. For example, a mail-enabled entry (a user, contact, group, or public folder) has to have at least these attributes: mailNickname, legacyExchangeDN,
and displayName. Without the mailNickname attribute, an object is not considered mail-enabled.

  • Powershell to find users with SendAs permission on Public folders

I have been having great difficulty getting this to work and I am baffled as to what it is I am missing!
We have a lot of public folders and some users have SendAs permissions - we want to find them.
I have found various suggestions on line like these two lines -
    Get-PublicFolder -Recurse -ResultSize 10 | Get-PublicFolderClientPermission | Select Identity, User, AccessRights
this works and lists the folders and all user permissions but my attempts to filter it fail
    Get-PublicFolder -Recurse -ResultSize 10 | Get-PublicFolderClientPermission | Select Identity, User, AccessRights | Export-CSV "PublicFolderPermissions.csv" -NoTypeInformation
this I is claimed to work (and I would expect it to) but instead fills my CSV with folder and user information but the AccessRights value (clearly displayed in the first example) is replaced by this
    "Microsoft.Exchange.Data.MultiValuedProperty`1[Microsoft.Exchange.Management.MapiTasks.PublicFolderAccessRight]"
    So I tried this
    get-publicFolder -recurse -ResultSize 10 | Get-PublicFolderClientPermission | foreach-object  {write-host $_.Identity, $_.User, $_.AccessRights}
which works but any attempt to redirect to a file, export to csv or add-content to a file either outputs nothing or outputs everything but gives the accessrights as "Microsoft.Exchange.Data.MultiValuedProperty`1[Microsoft.Exchange.Management.MapiTasks.PublicFolderAccessRight]"
does anyone have any idea how I get the information I want into a CSV (where I can then filter it) or filter the results by SendAs and save to CSV?
Obviously the -ResultSize 10 if for testing and will be replaced with Unlimited.
I assume  my filters on SendAs always failed because rather than passing along $_.AccessRights as the string I see on screen I get the string I see in the CSV so nothing matches SendAs.
I am clearly missing something obvious so any help would be appreciated.

That has got me close to it I think but identity returns something like "******.net/Microsoft Exchange System Objects/Info" where "Info" is a public folder under a folder called "Postroom"
This does at least restricts the results to users having SendAs permission so that is a lot of progress
Get-publicfolder does translate the returned identity to a path so that should help
Unfortunately piping to export-csv does not return the desired results
redirect to file does save the information though so that should be helpful
    Many thanks
Yes, took all night but I now have enough information to work on

  • Exchange 2013 with Outlook 2010 anywhere - Public Folders disappear from Outlook favourites

    Hi,
we have a 3 server Exchange 2013 SP1 DAG published with Forefront TMG.
Outlook 2010 anywhere connection works fine (only anywhere connection is possible, there are no clients in the exchange server AD).
The users are adding public folders to their local Outlook favorites. In about 10% of the Outlook starts, those public folders are missing in the favorites. Local favorites folders are still there, public folders are connected.
After restarting the Outlook a few times, the favorites are back.
Deleting the outlook.xml brought no success, the favorites seem to be saved somewhere on the exchange server.
Outlook 2010 is up to date, all hotfixes are installed.
There are no related entries in servers or clients eventlogs, the logs of the TMG server are normal.
Does anyone have a simular behavior?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
According to your description,it is clear that something got corrupted, but it is hard to say directly what caused it. However, there are a few troubleshooting steps to determine what caused it and you can also make a backup of your Favorite Folders list
so you can easily restore it when it still happens.
Pleaser refer to the following article:

  • Public Folders after 2007 to 2010 Migration

I am unable to move public Folders from 2007 to 2010. Will not replicate nor can I create or use any new Public Folders on the 2010 server. Every other part of the migration has been completed and the system is working well.
Is there anything that I might be missing in order to move Public Folders to 2010?

    Hi,
Please check the msExchHomePublicMDB value in ADSI Edit:
    1. In Adsiedit, expand Configuration-->CN=Services -> CN=Microsoft Exchange -> CN=domain -> CN=Administrative Groups -> CN=Exchange Administrative Group -> CN=Databases.
    2. Right-click the listed database > Properties.
    3. Make sure the msExchHomePublicMDB value is pointed to the Public Folder database in Exchange 2010 instead of Exchange 2007.
Additionally, please use the ReplaceReplicaOnPFRecursive.ps1 script to move all the replicas of a public folder subtree from one server to another server. For more information about Public Folder migration from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2010, please refer

  • Public folders and sharepoints oddities

    Hi,
I'm having some problems accessing the standard public folder of os x (~/public/drop box) as a quest through LAN.
Particularly, although i can drop files in the drop box, when trying to drop a folder in that directory i get the message "the folder could not be created".
Is this normal? Is the drop box capable receiving only files but not folders?
I have the same problem with "drop boxes" (write only permissions to anyone) in other shared folders i've created with the SharePoints (pref pane or/and app).
Considering SharePoints, i can't anymore disable the standard public folders. When trying to connect as quest through Lan, the Users public folders are still there as a choise! Notice that i perfectly remember i had managed that in the past with the same app/pref pane.
I'm using os x 10.4.9 on an emac and the other computer in the network is an os 9 imac g3.
    Hope you can help me.
    Thanx in advance.

It may be a little trouble for me. You see that means reinstalling all apps, their plug ins (re-regestering)and a lot of extra staff.
But your suggestion may be helpful in an other way, and i' d like your opinion.
Lets say that i make a fresh install (or a&i). So the basic services of tiger are reinstalled. I also do the 10.4.9 update combo and its security updates so the services are up to date. I already have a sparse image of my current system on an external drive created with SuperDuper. Is there any way to update-synchronize (but not completely restore so the very core services remain "fresh") the "fresh" system with my current one. Could this work?
But i really am concerned cause the problem i have is a two way one (as os9 user, guest on the os x computer AND as an os x user, guest on the os 9 computer), so i m not pretty sure wheather it is an tiger issue.
The last major change i've lately made to my system was to erase the os 9 (both 4 start up and classic use) partition, repartition (os X & Data) and restore my Os X sparseimage on the drive, for gaining some more free space on startup disk.
One more thing..Trying to resolve my issue, i run the apple jack this morning as root. I've notice a message for an "apple.com.iokit something Client" missing and some other messages. I didn't really wrote them down, cause i was not ready for that, but i'll do it soon, so i'll let you know...
    Thanx Again

  • Snow Leopard Mail 4.4, Exchange Server, and Public Folders

I'm still confused about Apple's claim for the advantages of the Snow Leopard Mail program being of such significance to Corporate usage when it does not appear to support access to Public Folders when using an Exchange 2007 (or 2010) profile. Within a Corporate environment, Public Folders are one of the benefits for using Exchange.
    Am I missing something?

    JL,
What you are missing is the exchange! You can check your e-mail in an Exchange account, but you just can't "exchange" anything with others. I can't for the life of me figure out why such a fundamental feature was left out. While Apple is certainly capable of ignoring a feature like this, Microsoft itself has said that the days of public folders are numbered. I think that since Exchange has become more of a standard rather than proprietary, Microsoft prefers to cripple it in favor of something (Sharepoint) that will be proprietary. Why have something simple, that works, when you can complicate it with something new!
The best I can tell, there is no support for public folders in mail.app for Snow Leopard. However, I can't really find a post that firmly states that. There seems to have been support for public folders in the past (pre-Snow) through IMAP. I'm not really sure how that worked, but I've already upgraded, so it's too late for me.
I'd be happy to hear a firm explanation of this from someone from Apple (or otherwise connected).
    Good Luck, Jack

  • Exchange Online Protection and Public Folders

    Hi,
We have just been migrated to Exchange Online Protection from FOPE and although users can now manage their own quarantines, they cannot do this for Mail Enabled Public Folders. Is this possible?
    Many Thanks

    Hi Paul,
I replied to a post from you in another thread. It's easy to miss though, so here's what I said:
"You should tell mail2web that there is an option in Exchange to hide public folders from IMAP clients. I'm an IT manager at a large software company with 50% of our users on Macs. We turned on the option to hide public folders from IMAP clients a while ago, long before the iPhone. It's worked very well and continues to work for iPhone people (like me!).
There was no reason for us to make public folders viewable via IMAP, so hopefully the same will be true for mail2web."
I'm actually really glad that Apple made this change. I want to see most of the folders at the inbox level in Exchange and with the Exchange switch turned on to hide public folders, there's no downside.
    Regards,

V1.01 effected some changes in how the iPhone interacts with an Exchange server. Unfortunately, in my case, they were not positive changes.
In V1.00 the iPhone would create three folders - Inbox, Deleted Items, and Sent Items in the local mailbox. It would ignore most other folders created on the Exchange server such as Calendar, Notes, Spam, and Public folders to name a few.
In V1.01 the iPhone now processes all the folders on the Exchange server. If I have twenty folders on my Exchange account, all those folders appear on my iPhone. Okay, that is acceptable. However ALL Public folders are now being downloaded to the iPhone as well. NOT okay!
I now have hundreds of public folders sitting on my iPhone that I do not want there. After discussing this with some IT guys, the finger seems to be pointing at a broken implementation of IMAP on the iPhone, specifically its inability to define subscriptions - delecting or deselcting folders for populating locally on the iPhone.
I hope this issue can be addressed, and of course true direct push email implemented for Exchange email accounts.

    Hi Paul,
I replied to a post from you in another thread.
    Regards,
