Public Folders not accessible as Guest

Having a problem connecting to Public folders as Guest on certain Mavericks iMacs [10.9.2] over the company LAN.
The network has no problems, no IP conflicts. There are other 10.9.2 Macs that can have their Public Folders accessed. There is no discernable difference between the computers, some are older that have been upgraded to Mav, others are new and came with Mav installed.
I've created different user accounts on the problem Macs and the result is the same. Changed the IP addresses, nothing.
I can connect to these Macs with admin user credentials and access the Public Folders that way, but it's kind of contradictory. This for me points away from the network and to the Macs themselves. Any ideas would be helpful.
Regards.

Thanks again Sterling, is there anyone near you who is familiar with Kerberos? Here is some Console details from the computer I am trying to access as guest:

There are many Apple Discussions dating back to OS Tiger about LKDC and SMB issues, none that I read refer to guest logins, but they are centred around authentication.
When I guest access my own Mac [Mav upgrade] from the above machine [Mav out of the box] it is successful and there are no Console entries.

It seems like your Kerberos SSO reject anonymous users, rather than give the 'Guest' role. Not sure if anything can be done about it at UCM side.

  • Mail-enabled Public Folders not showing as enabled in PFMC or EMS

    Good morning
I have some PF's that are mail enabled, but running the Get-PublicFolder cmdlet shows "mailenabled" attribute as False. Also, in the PF Management Console, the folder shows as not mail enabled (with an option to enable it).
I found this thread that seems to be related:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/exchange/en-US/918aad03-c96f-4023-89cc-ec2c66e51b93/mailenabled-public-folders-not-showing-as-mailenabled?forum=exchangesvrgenerallegacy
I'd like to do some testing, but recreating this issue with a test PF is actually really hard.
Does anyone know a way to force that "mailenabled" attribute to False after mail-enabling a PF? I can't find any ADSI attribute that is obvious. I changed MsExchRecipientTypeDetails to <not set> but that didn't do it...
**UPDATE** I just found out that msExchMailboxGuid is missing from that object. Does anyone have any kind of suggestion for how I can find the Guid of the mailbox that is no longer associated with this PF?
**UPDATE 2** I have found other PF's that are missing this attribute, but they are not displaying any symptoms. They are showing as mail enabled in the EMS and PFMC. So I guess this isn't a required attribute.
Could anyone explain the purpose of this attribute for mail-enabled public folders? I just assumed it was required.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
Do you migrate these mail-enabled public folders from previous Exchange server to Exchange 2010?
Please check if you can see the SMTP address for mail-enabled public folders via Properties of Public folders.
Please check if they show in the Microsoft Exchange System Objects in ADUC.
Besides, I recommend you mail disable the public folder and then mail enable it again to check the result in the Public Folder Management Console.
For a mail-enabled recipient, a minimum set of attributes is required to make all Exchange components work properly. For example, a mail-enabled entry (a user, contact, group, or public folder) has to have at least these attributes: mailNickname, legacyExchangeDN,
and displayName. Without the mailNickname attribute, an object is not considered mail-enabled.

  • Mail-enabled Public Folders not accepting email from external users after migrating from Exchange 2003

We are in the process of trying to decommission our Exchange 2003 server, all of the replicas have been moved to the Exchange 2010 SP3 servers. However, each time we dismount the public folder store on the 2003 server (just to see what won't work) nobody
from outside the company can send mail to the mail-enabled public folders (we use these to communicate with vendors and customers).....they sit in the 2003 mail queue until I remount the store.
I have mail disabled them on the 2010 PF server, waited a few hours and then mail enabled them again. Same issue. Interesting to note is that when the PF store on the 2003 server is dismounted people inside
the company can still send to the mail-enabled PFs (which is good). I am stumped.

  • Public Folders not visible in outlook 2010 for some

Migrated exchange 2007 to 2013. I know Public Folders are a mailbox now.
My question is why do some users with outlook 2010 see the Public Folders under "Tasks" on the left vertical bottom of outlook with "Folder List" highlighted and other DON'T -They just don't see anything under "Tasks" on the

Also (in a newly created email) if they go to the address book drop down click on Public Folders entry its empty.

    RJM

    Hi RJM,
Except above links, I also recommend you refer to the following article to migrate the PF from exchange 2007 to 2013:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/meamcs/archive/2013/07/25/part-4-step-by-step-exchange-2007-to-2013-migration.aspx
    Check the status
Once the migration reached the AutoSuspended state as shown below, proceed to the next steps, otherwise you must wait as this may take some time based on your PF size.
    Get-PublicFolderMigrationRequest | Get-PublicFolderMigrationRequestStatistics
Lock Down PF for Migration (Down time is required, as during this phase PF will bot be accessible for all users)
    Set-OrganizationConfig -PublicFoldersLockedForMigration:$true
    Set-PublicFolderMigrationRequest -Identity \PublicFolderMigration -PreventCompletion:$false
    Resume-PublicFolderMigrationRequest -Identity \PublicFolderMigration
Test and Unlock the PF Migration
I will configure a test user to use the new PF using the following command:
    Set-Mailbox -Identity mohsaeed -DefaultPublicFolderMailbox mailbox1
Open the test user mailbox and run some tests: Create new post, view old posts, check permissions
If all tests passed successful proceed to next step.
    Get-Mailbox -PublicFolder | Set-Mailbox -PublicFolder -IsExcludedFromServingHierarchy $false
    Set-OrganizationConfig -PublicFolderMigrationComplete:$true

  • Users home folders not accessible on SMB, OS X 10.6.4

    Hello,
I'm facing this very weird problem upon trying to connect my Windows XP SP3 clients to their respective home folders on Mac OS X Server 10.6.4.
The other shares and public folders however work just fine.
So, upon connecting to the home folder of the user from Windows, (on \\serverIP\username\ ) I keep getting the authentication login form as if I'm typing the wrong username or password.
Of course the user's password is correct.
Oddly enough I can connect and see all the users shares if I go on My Computer and type \\serverIP\ and then enter username and password. I can access the "Users" share and even see other users documents and files!
It used to work very well before a server restart last night, I decided to update to 10.6.4 to see if the problem would go away but no luck.
In the SMB service log I see the following everytime I try to connect directly to the users home folders:
    [2010/06/23 14:29:14, 0, pid=2834] /SourceCache/samba/samba-235.4/samba/source/smbd/service.c:makeconnectionsnum(1047)
'/Network/Servers/macmini-server.solinf.org/Users/silvia' does not exist or permission denied when connecting to [silvia] Error was Host is down
What puzzles me is that if I navigate from shell to /Network/Servers/macmini-server.solinf.org/ I find an alias called "users" that I cannot access.
Anyone has any ideas what is causing this direct access to fail?
    Thanks in advance

  • Public folders not replicated

I have an Exchange 2007 and two Exchange 2010 servers.  The 2007 server used to house all mail until and upgrade to 2010, everything was moved over, so I assume since I didn't do the move and Public folders show as being on the 2007 server as well
as the two 2010 servers.  However when I shutdown the 2007 server Public folders begin to not work for users.  How can I get rid of the old server without screwing up the Public Folders for users?

    Hi,
Based on the description, you have moved mailboxes to Exchange 2010, and the public folders on Exchange 2007 have been replicated to Exchange 2010. If you shutdown the Exchange 2007 server, Exchange 2010 users can't access public folders. If I misunderstood
your concern, please let me know.
Please run the Get-PublicFolderStatistics cmdlet to check the result.
And please check if you specify the public folder database on Exchange 2010 as the default public folder database for mailbox database on Exchange 2010 server.
    Best regards,
    Belinda
    Belinda Ma

That is correct.  If I run the command all I get is the name of folders item count and last access time, this is if I run it from the 2010 server.  It currently looks like the default is on the 2007 server.  Would switching the default to the
replicated DB on the 2010 server allow me to completely remove the 2007 server?

  • Public Folder not accessible from outlook for a number of users(Impacted users Expanding)

    Hi ,
We have a Exchange 2013 Server with both Mailbox and Cas Roles in it. We are currently migrating the mailboxes to a new server as the old one had some OS issue.
We use a number of Public folder, since the past two days, a number of users are not able to access public folders from outlook 2013( able to access through OWA) The issue is expanding to other users now. Please let me know some options to arrest this and
    resolve the same.
When I try to check for any issues from ECP. I go to the public folder and click manage, I get the 505 error. Pls help
    Thanks,
    Vivek

    Hi,
Based on the description, you moved public folder mailboxes and user mailboxes to another server. After that, some users couldn't access public folders in Outlook. You can use the Get-PublicFolderStatistics cmdlet to retrieve statistical information about
    public folders.
And please check if there is any error message when these affected users access public folders in their Outlook.
Since users can access public folders via OWA, I recommend you test Outlook connectivity using Test Email AutoConfiguration tool.
In order to troubleshoot this issue more efficiently, I suggest you post the error message that you encountered in ECP for further research.

  • Mail-enabled Public Folders Not showing as Mail-enabled

We have completely migrated from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2007 (SP1 Rollup 5).  Many, but not necessarily all, of our mail-enabled public folders do not appear to be mail enabled in either the 2007 PF Management Console or the Shell, yet they are mail-enabled in the 2003 System Manager and we can send email to them.  If we mail-enable a folder in the EMC, it blows away any previous email addresses and creates a new one.
Any reccomendations on how to get 2007 to accurately display the properties of these folders??

Issue description: Mail-enabled public folders can’t show as mail-enabled status in the EMC and EMS after migrated from exchange 2003 to exchange 2007, right?
    Troubleshooting:
    1.       Please use “Get-PublicFolder” to check the output of a migrated problematic public folder, see if the value of “MailEnabled” is “True”
Get-PublicFolder -Identity "\problematic public folders name"
    2.       Please find out where migrated problematic public folder objects exist in the AD. By default, mail-enabled public folders should stay in the “Microsoft Exchange System Objects” container. You can use ADUC or ADSIEditor to verify their current location
    3.       I assume that link between mail-enabled public folder and its AD object has been broken during the migration. So, I suggest you to create a test mail-enabled public folder, and compare the attributes of its AD objects with the problematic one with ADSIEditor. This will tell us if there are any incorrect values in the attributes of the problematic public folder objects
    a.       Launch the ADSIEditor (Start->run-> ADSIEditor.msc)
    b.      Locate problematic mail-enabled public folder object and the new created one
    c.       Right-click the objects and select “Properties”. Then, compare their attributes in the “Attribute Editor” tab
Notes: Please select all three checkboxes in the “Attribute Editor” tab, it will save more time during the comparison

  • Playlists stored in folders not accessible when using CarPlay

Could this be the first CarPlay question?
Today I upgraded my Pioneer 4000NEX receiver with the firmware from Pioneer that enabled CarPlay support.  I didn't play with it too much but long enough to see that I could not access any of the music playlists I have stored in folders.  The folders themselves would show up but when I tapped on one of the folders it would not do anything.
Is this an Apple or a Pioneer issue?

    Hi,
There are a few facts to take into account here. First the ViewFields FieldRef Name attribute always refers to the internal name of the
field. Secondly the item[ string ] indexer can refer to DisplayName, StaticName or InternalName. So if you have overlapping names you are not sure which field will be referred with item[ string ]. The best way is to user item[ Guid ] instead and get the
Guid by either calling the method GetFieldByInternalName. For example
    SPListItem item = GetItem();
    item.Fields.GetFieldByInternalName(internalName );
You also always must remember to check for NULL before calling .ToString();<o:p></o:p>
So in summary. Make sure you know which field you refer and always check for NULL before calling .ToString()

  • Auto Reply in Public Folders not working [SOLVED]

    Hi all,
I've set up a new mailbox and public folder on our Exchange 2003 server (SBS).  The new user has permissions as Owner of the PF and has Send As privileges as well as has been set to Receive As.  While logged in to Outlook as this user, I've enabled
a Reply with Template for the PF for all emails inbound.  However, no replies are sent to either internal or external addresses.  I've also made sure to check that auto replies are enabled in Internet Message Formats.
    What am I missing?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
Please ensure that the public folder is mail enabled at first.
What's more, if the user has owner permission and Send As permission on the public folder, please refer to the steps below to configure a "Reply with Template" rule for the public folder.
    1. Start Outlook 2003, and then locate the public folder for which you want to create the rule.
    2. Right-click the public folder, and then click Properties.
    3. Click the Administration tab, click Folder Assistant, and then click Add Rule.
    4. In the Edit Rule dialog box, click to select the Reply with check box, and then click Template.
    5. Type the subject and body that you want automatically sent to users when they post messages to this public folder.
    6. On the File menu, click Save, then click OK. After that, click Yes on the following message that appears: This rule will fire for all incoming messages. Is this what you want?
    7. Click OK two times.
    Hope it helps.

  • Ignoring "Public Folders" when listing folders on an Exchange account?

    hi-
i downloaded javamail 1.4.2 and ran the demo example "folderlist" against an exchange account i have using the "imap" protocol.
it listed all my folders correctly, including "Public Folders" and its subfolders.
i'd like to not list "Public Folders" though, and so was wondering if there is a programmatic way of ignoring this folder and any
    other public folders.
when i run "folderlist" in verbose mode, i get for the "Public Folders":
    Name: Public Folders
    Full Name: Public Folders
    URL: imap://exchange-user@exchange-host/Public Folders
    Not Subscribed
    Is Directory
    IMAP Attributes:
    \Noselect
is it appropriate to intrepret "\Noselect" as folders i don't want to include in my folder list?

Use the Store.get*Namespaces methods. You probably only want to list the personal namespaces.

We have a problem with Public folders not being available both in Outlook 2013 and OWA.Any ideas in troubleshooting the issue will be appreciated.Thanks.

    Hi,
Is there any error message when you try to access public folders in Outlook 2013?
If there is, please post here for further analysis.
In Exchange 2013 CU1, the ability to open public folders in OWA is added. You need to add public folders from Favorites.
Please use the get-mailbox | fl defaultpublicfoldermailbox to check the default public folder mailbox in Exchange 2013.
Please navigate to the following path to check the msExchHomePublicMDB attribute if the value is not set.
    Open ADSI Edit -> Configuration -> CN=Configuration, DC=domain, DC=com -> CN=Services -> CN=Microsoft Exchange -> CN=<Organization Name> -> CN=Administrative Groups -> CN=Exchange Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT) -> CN=Databases
