The part of the article that talks about "which Discovery sytem do I have" kind of made it clear.
I heard SAP does the remote access kind of a thing with their R/3 systems , something called the IDES access , and that made me thinking if they do something similar with MII as well.
I guess they don't.

1) Will we be able to re-use our 8.2 scripts (Functional and Load Testing) in 8.5 or 9.0, or will they require re-writing?
You can reuse the scripts as long as they don't have any VB in them, as the VB engined has been removed
2) Will we be able to continue to write our scripts in Functional Tester and play them back in the load tester (thin client) as we have been doing.
No OpenScript separates both scripts you will not even be able to see the script in the e-load interface
3) Are we forced to learn OpenScript and use OpenScript (either for 8.5 / 9.0 or in a soon upcoming release)?
Yes, e-tester support will end soon and will be replaced with OpenScript, OpenScript has been developed by the same team that did e-tester so changing from one tool to the other should not be difficult.
4) Will scripts created in OpenScript for Functional Testing, be usable in Load testing or will we need to create seperate scripts again.
No, there may be support for that in the future but not now.

Can I set public permissions for the Training Catalog?

We want to have all users be able to get into the Training Catalog and self enroll. We have over 7,000 employees with no distribution list for all people. How do I set permissions for all employees to see the training catalog and self enroll?

Ah, support strikes again. The Training catalog is not, and cannot be set to publicly viewable. This permission setting is only available to objects in the Content Library.
If you go to the Training Tab and then Training Catalog you will see an option to Set Permissions for the Training Catalog. Select that and you will be able to add any individual or group from the list on the left to the list on the right to give them view permissions. There will be no "Make Publicly Viewable" option.
If an individual is not listed in the right hand list (or a member of a group on the right hand list), then they will get the Not Authorized message.

XML validating with Public ID (In Struts with Java)

I've found in my struts .jar local copies of various DTD files to validate XML files for Struts. However, I'm unable to figure out how a DOCTYPE like the following

"http://jakarta.apache.org/struts/dtds/struts-config_1_1.dtd">is able to find the struts-config_1_1.dtd file in struts.jar. I understand that PUBLIC means "-//Apache Software Foundation//DTD Struts Configuration 1.1//EN" should be looked up in a catalog which should translate to a local copy (the one in struts.jar I imagine) of the DTD. I'm unable to find this catalog file or understand how this takes place though -- does Java have this catalog stored internally somewhere with default values?

by default, if it detects that PUBLIC flag in the doctype it will check the alternate location first, then the http URL second.
when starting up tomcat i can see the following log statements from apache

Java/Struts training

Greetings!
I'm a developer with extensive background in Perl, C, Oracle and OBIEE. However I've never had to deal with Java. My boss wants me to work on some Java/Struts project and wants to send me to training.
I wonder if anyone could advice me:
First - what exactly classes I should take. I would assume I would have to take some Java for beginners class, and then a Spruts class?
And second - if anyone can recommend a training facility in DC/VA/MD area.
All suggestions appreciated. Thank you!

i have same problem with
CLI130 Could not create domain, domain1
then i try these things with PATH stuff but it haven't worked for me...
then i tried to search windows registry for string domain1 and nothing found...
then i searched my profile directory (on windowsxp c:\Documents and Settings\user on linux /home/user) for files that containd string domain1 and i found some .adadmin* files (as i remember there were 3 files) then i deleted them, try to install sun app server and it works for me... there are still some warnings but at least installation finishes and files were not deleted...

Hi,
We use only Stateful release modes for application modules, defined in the action mappings in struts-config.xml exactly the same way as in your example. Stateful mode releases the module instance back to the pool and it can be reused by other sessions as well. However, all the code that uses the app modules and view objects, etc, must be written with the assumption that the module or the view object the code is operating on can be a different instance from the one in the previous request in the same session.
The concept of BC4J is that this recycling of modules should be transparent for the users of the app modules, but this is not exactly the case. Some things are not passivated in the am's snapshots and are not activated in case of recycling, for example, custom view object properties or entries in the userData map (or at least were not in 9.0.5, I doubt this is changed in 10.1.2.) These are things that you have to manually passivate and activate if you use them to store some information that is relevant to a particular user session.
All chances are that these strange things that you experience only occur in sessions that use recycled application modules, that is, there was passivation and subsequent activation of vo and am states. I have found it useful as a minimum to test the application with only 1 application module in the pool and at least 2 user sessions, constantly recycling this one am instance. Many of the problems that will surface in a real application usage only when there is a high load can be experienced in this artificial setup.

Training Course and material - CR800

Hello,
I am an admin in SAP CRM 2007, and need help. I want to take the best course possible to help me in my work, and I have been told that CR800 would be my best option. However, I cannot find a course scheduled. Can anyone offer a better alternative or can I get my hands on the training material softcopy at a minimum? I understand it is copyrighted, but how can I get trained if SAP does not offer the courese? Specifically we are working in E-Commerce, ISA, E-marketing, Web channel. Thank you very much for your help.

If you want more specific learning material about SAP E-Commerce (E-Selling, E-Marketing and E-Services), also called WebChannel, Internet Sales, ISA, B2B and B2C, you can also try:
- SAP CR850 - It is more specific to E-Commerce with R/3 ECC 6 Backend.

And you can also get at SAP Market Place the following Documents.
-E-Commerce Development and Implementation Guide (very Techinical)
-E-Commerce Implementation Guide. (Installation Instructions)
-SAP E-Commerce 7.0 Development and Extension Guide'.
The guides are available in the http://service.sap.com/instguides (check the 'Operate' section for SAP CRM 7.0).
As a last option, if you feel it is not enought you can always contact SAP Education, they may find courses related to the subject.

Time to get my hands dirty?

Hi all Digital Publishers
I have been working with InDesign (basic layout and typesetting) for print for a few years now (freelance, part-time)!
The stuff I have been doing is for school textbooks.
It is now obvious that iPads, Kindles, laptops etc. will become ever increasing tools for education. I am therefore attempting to get "my hands dirty" and train myself in the use of Digital Publishing Suite. I have seen a couple of videos, but nothing one could call a training manual. Where would you suggest I look to a) get started and b) get up to speed?
I have installed and updated Folio Builder in InDesign CS5 on a iMac 10.7.3. I have existing books in ID to convert, or should they be re-targeted to DPS?

And hang out here. Read the posts...plenty of tips.
You should also consider now how you're going to handle CS6. If you move to 5.5 now you'll get CS6 for free and save money in the process since 5 to 6 is more expensive than 5.5 to 6.
Another choice would be Creative Cloud at just $30/month for the first year with all the single edition apps you can create.

In India, how can training of SAP SD module help a person in starting his SAP career? Do this training be helpful after a engineering degree in printing technology?

Its more helpful when you a functional knowledge , experience and certification in your hand along with training.
try to get an entry job in SAP SD in any company, then improve your knowledge with trainings, certifications etc.
