Public holidays in different languages

Hi Experts,
We would like to know how to define the public holiday in different languages (English and German)
For e.g. May 1st : Labor holiday in english, same holiday need to be mentioned in German language.
Please provide the steps how to define the same public holiday in multiple languages and is to be assigned to same Holiday Calendar.

Hi,
For your case, if you want to maintain May 1st Labor holiday in German, just log on SAP with language key DE and maintain holiday description with Deutsche word, that will be fine.

How to calculate days between 2 dates excluding public holidays over SAP ?

Hi
Have a universe over SAP data. Trying to calculate days between 2 dates. SAP holds Public Holiday data in various tables e.g Thol and data is updated via scal. Using my univeres as a source I want to run reports for different countries so need to have various bank holidays not just UK. In SAP function modules handle this. Has anyone designed a solution to cater for this situation in a universe ?

Hi,
I assume you mean SAP R/3 (ECC) when you write SAP and SAP BW.
Are you using BW? If so, I would load the data into SAP BW, create a query using customer exit variables and build your universe on top of that...

User folders in different language!

I got some serious computer troubles some days ago that now seems to be fixed but my USER ACCOUNT folders (I mean Documents, Library, Movies, Music, Pictures, Public and Sites) are in a different language (It could be in spanish but now appears in english). I suspect that i moved or trashed some of the USER preferences. Can you help me to solve it, please? I'm losing my sanity :-/ Thanks so much!

Thanks Eric. I did it but it seems not to solve the problem. If I go to International, into the System Preferences, and change to other languages I get after reboot the logical results in the whole computer system, but my user folders remains fixed in ENGLISH no matter the language I chose.
If I try to rename the folders in spanish, like the rest of the system, I lose the icons and the MacOS wont recognize it as user folders :-/
Please, any other help?

Problem in maintaining Public Holiday Calendar

I have to maintain Public Holiday Calendar for 2009. For that I have maintained the holiday dates in Change Public Holidays. Please guide me as to how do I assign these holidays which I have maintained to Public Holiday Calendars being used in different PSA's?

hi,
for appearing in the holiday calendar of 2009, the Validity year of ur holiday calendar should contain the year 2009. say,
Valid Fr.year 2008
To year 2010
For the day to be a OFF day u have to re-generate the existing work schedule as i mentioned earlier. Only then the new holidays assigned to ur holiday calendar will be taken by the Work Schedule.
U must give the same Holiday class to ur new holidays (Same that u used to create ur earlier holidays to avoid confusions......)

When we create public holidays, and create thanks giving or any holiday with fixed day from date ,what we have to enter in the field " at the earlist, day and month field"

Hi Sagarika,
The answer to this and you other questions about work schedules would be answered if you took the SAP HR306 course. Work schedules, holiday calendars and quotas are all covered in that course. It is necessary if you are to properly set up work schedules for your organization.
Here the "earliest day and month" refer to the earliest the holiday can occur. For Thanksgiving, for example, the earliest it can be celebrated is the first Thursday in November after November 22nd. Another example is Martin Luther King Day which is the first Monday in January after January 15th.
This differs from holidays which are a fixed date each year - July 4th, December 25th, January 1st, etc. These can be "guaranteed" so they can be celebrated on the work day before if they fall on a Saturday or on the work day after if they fall on a Sunday.
Again, all this guidance is available to you in HR306.

Setting Up Public Holiday

I am writing a Schedule Planner. It should be able to know if a particular date falls on a public holiday and display it in a different color if possible. However, I do not know how to get the public holiday information. I am intending to ask the user to set up the public holiday by indicating manually whether the public holiday fall on a specified date only, e.g. Chinese New Year where it may fall on differnt date each year or same date every year, e.g. Christmas fall on 25th December every year.
Is there any way of getting this info automatically without the need for the user to key in?

I wrote some classes for calculating holiday dates...it's a while since I worked on them, but you can take a look at:

There's a few additional rules required in order to represent some holidays, and I'd like to have time to change the data format to XML, but at least there's some code to start with.
The code is covered by the GPL and/or LGPL.

Optional/fixed holidays for different regions

Hi SAP gurus,
We have two offices located in different regions (karnataka and pune).
There are some leaves which are applicable only for karnataka and some for pune.
For all the employees irrespective of the region, we allocated 10 optional/fixed holidays in a year.
Now i want the restriction to be made in sap in such a way that pune employees should be able to apply only those holidays that are identified for them. If they try to apply any other day as option/fixed holiday, the system should not allow them and give a message saying it is not a optional/fixed holiday.
The same should be done for bangalore employees.
Pls suggest how to achieve this scenario.

Additional public holidays to the actual Holidays for perticular State Emp

We have a senario where a perticular State employees will get some additional Public holidays to the actuall company Holidays.
Can I define these group of employees with different Employee subgroups and setup a seperate public holiday calender togenerate holiday pay for those employees?
What is the best approach? Please advice

HT2371 everytime my apps need to be install .. it keep going to a different language when i keep it in english for everything .. and i dont understand why it have a different language when my default is english.. it only happen when the app want me to acc

for ex:
i go into family feud and when i sign into facebook it have a different language.. and my default is english .
it does that to every app i have.. and sometimes my browser is a diff language..knowing my ipod is english

I need help.
Public Holiday calendar not to be taken into account for Sick Leave.
Eg -When I employee applies for sick leave, the public holiday in between the dates shouldnt be considered. How can I configure this requirement.

For that group, you need 2 counting rules:
- one for Holiday Class 0 (not a public holiday) and Day Work Schedule Class 0 (not a working day)
- one for Holiday Class 0 (not a public holiday) and Day Work Schedule Class 1 to 9 (a working day)
If you want, you can add an other one or two for Holiday Class 1 to 9 (public holiday)

Is this a problem with the computer or with the word processor? MS Word for example seems to think its grammar and spelling are better than mine - they are not. You have to go into MS Word preferences and uncheck all the useless "help" it wants to provide.

Dunning Letters in Different Language

Hi All,
Need help from your side. I have requirement that I need dunning letters in different language's. If we customer is from Germany the letter should be prininted in Geman language, If the customer is from Spain then it should have Spanish language, If Italy language is Italian.
So can any one guide me on same is there any config for this or how can I mange to do this.

Hi Kiran,
The forms are stored by language key. In each case, the print program selects the form in the language entered in the master record of the customer/vendor. If there is no form in this language, the default
language of the form is used, and the dunning program issues an error message in the dunning run log.
Pls enter language key DE/ES/IT in Customer master record (you can do it in tab 'Address'). Then, you will see that the dunning program prints the form in the requested language.
