Why is it that I can't edit on my profile what Skype deems "Public Information", which I deem private, to private or only visible for my contacts, like on Facebook, with a drop-down box, such as my gender, birthday date, city I come from etc...? Also why is it that ALL contacts are allowed to see your home or mobile numbers? Shouldn't they also have a drop-down box so that I am able to mark that as private. I should have the right to decide and to choose what to do with this confidential information. Otherwise I won't add in this information on my profile, as I don't feel that the service is now fully secure with my details.
I am sure others feel the same.

You may find it surprising that I agree with you! I have very few "pet peeves" with Skype; however I, too, wish Skype would enable users to determine for themselves what personal information is viewable as public, contacts-only, or private. Maybe in a future edition. For the time being, I leave all settings as blank or not specified.

Unfortunately, confirming many such scams and schemes are circulating around the internet. It seems no legitimate business is immune from being spoofed. If in doubt, always contact the company's customer service team to investigate.
One of my other favourite places to check the veracity of these claims - some of which are beyond extraordinary! - is www.snopes.com They do a fabulous job of tracking urban legends and other ridiculousness.

Datatype For Non Public Information

Hi Guys,
I have few columns in my database which contains non public information like customer account no ,customer ssn, customer tin.So the requirement comes from the field to encrypt the data while storing ,So could any one please tell me the proper dataptyes to store the encrupted data except the raw type.we are storing password in the raw datatype.
Please share me some thoughts .

Do you want to share secrets, even when encrypted, with strangers?
Does that mean those with proper access to the data, use decryption in the database and then get the unencrypted private data send to them via a public and non-encrypted network link?
How is access secured for those allowed access to private data?
There is much more to security than simply storing data, on disk, in encrypted format.
As always, requirements are important. What are they? Are they documented? Do they contain measurables and fixed goal posts?

Prevent Skype from merging contacts on Android?

Hello,
Does anyone know if there is a way to pevent Skype from merging its contacts into my Android contacts? It may be a useful feature but since there's no way to always map contacts correctly to existing ones and also that I simply don't want all of them in one place, I would like to know if I can prevent this behavior when I first install Skype on Android.
Currently I see no option to prevent adding Skype contacts on the first login and the problem is that Skype merges contacts at that point. If I go to its options and remove sync-ing contacts, the already merged ones aren't removed unless I uninstall Skype completely!

I know this is an old post but this is a quite common and relevant topic with which I've spent sometime and would like to drop the solution, at least for Fedora 22 under KDE. In order to avoid skype to start at startup/login (which is quite annoying and a privacy invasion) I just deleted the file /etc/prelink.conf.d/skype.conf and that was it.(let's see if this post is up in the skype forum for long ?!)

Problem with Skype/Microsoft 365 subscription

I'm not sure if anyone else has experienced this but... I used my skype subscription minutes (as part of my Microsoft 365 subscription account) for the first time ever for just under a half an hour on November 4th, and again today - again for just under a half an hour - and when I checked how many skype minutes I have left, it said I have 2 minutes left until January 17th, 2014. I'm wondering why that would be, considering I just started using the minutes on the 4th of November. I can understand that perhaps I have only 2 mins left until sometime in December, but why January of next year? I'm a bit confused... If anyone can help me clarify this, that would be greatly appreciated!

IPhoto, Skype, Microsoft Office, Chrome - nothing works on Mountain Lion

I upgraded to Mountain Lion yesterday and haveno end of problems - nothing works - Google Chrome, iPhoto, Microsoft Office, Skype - you name it. How can all this mess be resolved quickly? It feel that I don't have a computer at home!

I have the exact same issue.
Chrome, iPhoto and Evernote all crash on load. Have tried to wipe them completly with AppCleaner and reinstall but still crash. I don't think its a problem with the programs, they all seem to report the same crash, could be a core OSX fail?

I am looking for hosting my application on Azure cloud server and would like to inform you that my application is in ASP.NET 3.5 with database on SQL Server 2008 R2.
Before we proceed further with Microsoft Azure cloud hosting, I would like to clarify some of my below mentioned queries:

How much space we will get.

Can we connect database from our local machine with “SQL Server Management Studio”.

Why won't Skype(Microsoft) get rid of ChatAndVisio...

Everybody loves Skype and the product is getting to the point where it's becoming a viable alternative to conventional phones. Well, now try buying a desktop phone. Only ChatAndVision offers them and as you can read from other posts here the company is a total scam. Their web site is so poor, their support so inexistent and the quality of their communication so low that I feel like I'm doing something illegal as I try to buy something from them. Now, businesses like this are all over the place. What really shocks me is that a company the size of Microsoft would allow one of their brands to be associated with this. My hope with my post is that someone at Skype would read this and do SOMETHING about this absurd situation.

In answer to your question, it is MS putting profit before service & quality. Think about the windows releases that need 'repair before functionality, BUT you still pay full price. My NEW Skype 4088 phone will not access my account, the batteries would not hold a charge, the currency shown is UK, (I'm in Australia) the gift card was two YEARS out of date, no light on the side of the Phone, Yes on the little black box. It will not hold the settings Date 06.01.1970. How old is the darned thing...

BP Information in a Mail Merge Spreadsheet Format

Hi Guys,
I need to run a report that I can export to excel that will allow me to export BP details (ie name and address) in a format that will allow me to mail merge the addresses into a Word Document for a mailing campaign.
I have looked through the standard B1 reports/queries and cant find anything there. As I am a little bit dumb regarding the query generator I would be very grateful if anyone has done this previously, if they could post the queries details.

Hi Sean,
You can achive it without using query, just follow the following steps.
Open Business Partenr master screen.
In find mode put * in code and click on find
then click on form setting
Select the fields you want to export to excel
click ok
again use find, you will find all the fields in find list, now use export to excel button

Hello, At the moment I seem to have two accounts, a skype account and a microsoft account, which was created when I tried to recover my skype password. When I enter the email address I used for skype, I'm now directed to the microsoft account password recovery, for which I do know the password. My contacts now see two accounts: a "firstlastnbr" and a "live:first.last". And my microsoft account has no contacts... Please advise, thanks ! Spiffo

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. I log into Skype successfully
2. I choose edit profile
3. I make changes and save
4. Skype prompts for my password
5. I put in the same password I used to successfully login
6. Skype reports that the password is incorrect.
Additional information:
- I use Microsoft login to access my Skype account.
-I have always used my Microsoft account. I do not have a Skype username

I’m using Windows 8 and set up the Skype account through the Windows 8 app., using my MSN account. Clicking the app gets me to my Skype account but won’t allow changes.
