Public/private network connections

I am trying to setup the network connections so that I have 2 public hooked into the company lan and 1 private which lashes directly into an iScsi target. The documentation is totally confusing and unclear as to how I can set this up in this fashion. I have looked at this site and the xen.org site with its howtos and other locations I am at a loss of how to accomplish this.

Hi
Our setup involves two nics on LAN (172.16.1.67 and 172.16.1.68) as well as a iscsi nic on 172.16.2.67 for SAN storage to Dell MD3000i.
Works fine. iscsi connectivity done with iscsi inititator rpms shipped with Oracle VM disk and we then use a series of out of the box bridges and some post customisation and routing tables to deal with the LAN. The Xen virtual bridges will be created for you by default - the only need for us to create further virtual bridges and routing rules is we use the VM for maskinging client netwoks of 10.10.x.x for example and ensure we can connect from the 172 network.

  • ICM Router & Logger Private Network connectivity

    Hi,
Can any one give me clarification on the following
Is there any private network connectivity betwen ICM router and Logger ?

No, call routers (central controller) communicates between side A and B over private network for synchronization, so do PG pairs. Loggers receive data from local call router over public traffic.

  • Configuration for public & private network

I am working on two Separated networks and different ip range, one of the Internet, second only to traffic between the editing workstation has tried to get the open directory path to a second network and here I am having some problems, such as that clients get their problems when login network accounts and the problem of the DNS, How can we bypass this problem??
    Please help

    Dear Mr.
We highly thank your rapid response...
Iam Morad Shalbak head of post production department in Palmedia company in Palestine, Our main stream work is video editing and post production films, we handle our edit using FCP program, my department use MAC PRO and IMAC computers.
Our Problems located in the server and in the client, we have 2 ethrnet, 1GB network, on 2 separate switchers, diffierent IP range, what iam looking for is to set the primery eathrnet port on the server and client MAC PRO, only for internet traficing usage, the secondery port use for open directory traffic and file share traffice.
To let you know i had these problems during installing the previous idea, first the open directory cant locate a clear path on the secondery eathernet port, since the open directory takes 2 IP (public IP and Private IP) in same time, second the client cant access the net work account, also the client cant see the server DNS.
I will attache an discreption drew concerning my OPEN DIRECTORY on MY SERVER.

  • 2012R2 DC private network

    Disaster recovery scenario.
The domain controller has been backed up with proper VSS aware backup.
Restore the virtual machine to a target off-site datacenter.
Boot the VM and it is identified on a "Public/Private" network, hence it's not working at all.
Doesn't seem to matter what I do, it simply refuses to come online as "Domain Network".
    My question is this:
How exactly does the NLS identify the domain network?
    Things I tried already.
    Disable/Enable NIC
Set the awareness service to delayed start.
Manually removed all the network profiles from the registry, forcing a new identification.
Start up a 2003 DC before booting the 2012R2 DC.
Manually enable Network discovery on all network types.
Tried resetting the ipv4 stack with netsh.
The default gateway on the server does NOT reply to PING.
    Is that necessary?
    Any tips are greatly appreciated.

In some instances, VMM cannot determine the network location by using NLA. This happens when a loopback adapter is used because it is not part a network, and on ESX Servers because the operating system on ESX Server hosts does not have an NLA feature. In
these cases, you can manually enter the network location by selecting the
Override discovered network location check box and then typing a name for the network location in the
    Network location box.

Thanks for the help after looking over your sugesstion I did some additional troubleshooting which i should have done in the beginning and heres what i found
Airport express is joined to and existing wireless network and i have internet access....all good
I set up my Airport Extreme as follows:
                        Connect using :ethernet
                  Ethernet Wan Port : automatic
Connetion Sharing : Share a public IP address
    Tcpip      Configue IPv4: Using DHCP

Conneted Express ethernet port to Extreme wan port
All wired devices have internet access and i get a double nat status which ignore
however my wireless device will not connect.... sometimes they will they want
    any suggestions

Here are sceeen shots of the Express

  • I'd like to create my own private WiFi network from a public WiFi network

I am often in locations where there are open WiFi networks and I'd like to use an Express to create a private WiFi network from the available public one.?
If the express can't do it on it's own can I add another router to make it work? I have ethernet connected PC's and NAS devices I want to use. Thanks
    Regards,
    Dan

If you need ethernet connections for your "private" network, an AirPort Extreme (or virtually any other router with ethernet capability for that matter) would work.
So, an AirPort Express to "receive" the public wireless signal and provide an ethernet signal to the second router which could be configured to provide both ethernet and wireless connections. Just be sure to setup the AirPort Extreme to "share a public IP address". You'll get a Double NAT message, but you can click to ignore this.

  • Certificate error when connecting to RemoteApp outside of private network

I have a server running Windows Server 2012 R2. It is configured as an all-in-one RDS server - all roles are installed on it. We've configured it primarily to use an application as a RemoteApp - the application is hosted at a different site, and this RDS
server is at that site. We have a site to site VPN set up, so that it is all a part of our domain. The issue I'm having seems related to the fact that our internal network is .local, but the certificate only has a single .com name, so that we can access it
    from the Internet.
Everything works, though what I'm trying to clear up is a certificate error. When connecting to the RemoteApp from outside of our private network, we get the error "The server name on the certificate is incorrect." This occurs after entering
credentials.  The public name of the server (rds.contoso.com) is different from the private name (server.contoso.local).  We can proceed through the error and connect (though we'd like to fix it).
I implemented a fix that I found elsewhere to try to fix this.  This was to add a custom RDP setting like so:
Set-RDSessionCollectionConfiguration –CollectionName QuickSessionCollection -CustomRdpProperty "use redirection server name:i:1`nalternate full address:s:rds.contoso.com"
That seemed to make some progress, then we got another error.  I made a change to the RD RAP in RD Gateway Manager - by default, it allowed access to Domain Computers (which rds.contoso.com did not exist as a domain computer). I modified it to allow
    access to the rds.contoso.com name.
I now receive a different error message and that's where I'm stuck.  The heading on the message is RemoteApp Disconnected.  The text of the error is 'Remote Desktop can't find the computer "rds.contoso.com".  This might mean that
"rds.contoso.com" does not belong to the specified network.  Verify the computer name and domain that you are trying to connect to.'
Any thoughts on what I can do next?  When I roll back the changes I've made, I'm again able to connect fine, I just have the certificate error again.

    Hi,
    1. For changing the published FQDN I recommend you use Set-RDPublishedName cmdlet instead setting a custom rdp property on the collection:
Change published FQDN for Server 2012 or 2012 R2 RDS Deployment
    https://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/Change-published-FQDN-for-2a029b80
    2. As you mentioned before you need to edit the RD RAP so that the FQDN that you are using is permitted, or set it to Allow users to connect to any network resource.
    3. On your internal network (internal to the RDG), you need to create a DNS A record for the published FQDN (rds.contoso.com) that points to your server's private ip address.
I'm not sure how you have things configured right now in terms of network and DNS so it is tough to give you instructions on how to fix.  Let me explain a bit.  Normally with a VPN you would not need RD Gateway, although it is okay
if you want to use it.  If you have things configured properly an external client will normally connect to the RDG using the FQDN specified for RDG, then the RDG will connect to the published FQDN for the RDS deployment.
In your case these two FQDNs would be the same, only when the client does a DNS lookup it should get the ip address that you want users to connect to for the RDG whereas when the RDG does a DNS lookup it should get the private ip address of the server.
Exactly how you need to configure your DNS entries will depend on your VPN and networking configuration.
Please give it a try using the information provided above and reply back here with your results and any further questions you may have.
    Thanks.

  • Private network being viewed as public.

    Hello everyone,
I hope I'm asking this in the right forum.  I have Windows Server 2012 up and running.  I've assigned one of my Network cards a static private IP address.  The DHCP service is running and working.  However, the private network is being
viewed as a public IP address.  This is preventing me from mapping a shared network drive on the network.
I am new to Windows Server 2012.  Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi,
You can try the following steps.
    Win+r, type gpedit.msc
Computer configuration> Computer settings>Security settings>Network List Manager Policies
Choose the name of your network connection, you can change network type there.
    Hope this helps.

  • Mixing public and private networks on the same switch

    Hello Everyone,
I know this may get some security engineers in frenzy but wanted to know if there is a safe way to mix public and private networks on the same switch.
We have many remote offices that we want to add public wifi and a couple of other services that would be completely outside of our internal network.  Each office has a 3750 with plenty of open ports.  How can I safely create a vlan for public access on these switches which currently have our internal network on.  I have read that people are doing this to save on the cost of purchasing a dedicated switch.  Some people are using access lists and one person mentioned creating a private vlan for the public network.  I looked up private vlan and it seemed bit confusing.
Is this recommended?  If not what would be the safest way to do this?
    Thanks Everyone

How "safe" is relative.  If your running just one VLAN on a switch, that's would be the safest (basically the same as mixing traffic on the same wire - separation is done else where).
If you multiple VLANs on a switch, then you need to determine how likely someone might figure out a way to breach the VLAN barriers.  (This isn't so easy on newer switches.)  If the VLAN isolation is breeched, then you need to examine what does that imply from a security perspective (for example can someone now inject or receive other VLAN traffic).
For most purposes, I don't see mixing public and private VLANs, alone, on the same switch as much of a risk.  More of a concern is what can be reached on either VLAN and how well it's protected.

  • Third-Party apps can't connect to public wifi  networks.

When I connect my iPhone to my university's Wi-Fi connection, Apple Apps (Safari, Mail, iTunes, App Store...) all function normally. But when it comes to third-party apps I can't get them to connect to the internet. So is there a workaround to this? Maybe get iPhone to treat apps as an "Apple App" so the proxy server gives it access to the connection (The server requires a username and password verification to connect). This happens with other public wi-fi connections. I dunno if I'm giving all the necessary info. so if anything is unclear, I can explain further...
    Thanks

You don't give any examples of the apps that are not working.
Some public WiFi networks will only have certain network ports open, like those for web and mail. If an app uses an unusual network port then it may not work on the public WiFi network.

  • Clustered Environment - Changing from Public Network to Private Network

I have a clustered environment where the database sits on one node and the central instance sits on the other node. We just found out that somehow the communication between the database and central instance has been changed to talk over the public network instead of the private network. We don't know who did it or why.
So, my question is what do I need to do in SAP to accomodate the changing back to using the private network? Do I need to change system names in the profiles? Are there any gotchas on doing this? Are there any documents on doing this?
Thanks for any information you can provide on this topic.

  • App Controller and Clouds connect to or configure public/private clouds

    Hi
i was wondering what kinds of clouds private/public can App Controller can connect to or configure and where can i find the list of the public/private clouds that it supports.
    Thanks

App Controller can connect to the following clouds:
    System Center Virtual Machine Manager
    Windows Azure
    Hosting service providers
I don't have a list of the Hosting service providers that have a compatible cloud, although I know a couple have previously posted to this forum. The service provider needs to be running System Center and in particular
    Service Provider Foundation.

  • Having difficulty connecting to 'The Cloud' public WiFi network (UK) with iPhone 5?

Is anyone else having difficulty connecting to 'The Cloud' public WiFi network in the UK with iPhone 5? (It's the free WiFi network for Caffe Nero, Pizza Express, Phones 4U,  and Ambassador Theatre Group amongst others. It's run by BSkyB and is also available to Sky broadband customers)
WiFi works fine everywhere else (so it's not an iOS 6 problem, and I am running 6.0.2) but attempting to connect to "_TheCloud" gets instant 'Unable to connect to network' message. Going to Settings>WiFi>_TheCloud reveals that all the fields (IP Address, Subnet Mask etc) are blank.
It used to work fine on my 3GS, and also works on a colleague's 4S. However both my and my boss's iPhone 5's get the 'Unable to connect..." message.
Anyone know how to solve this problem? Or has anyone else even had this problem? There seems to be little reporting of it online.
I've tried emailing The Cloud, but have yet to receive a response.

I found out why there was a problem with The Cloud network I was trying to connect to: The Cloud's equipment at the venue wasn't able to cope with newer devices. This has now been upgraded, and my iPhone 5 connects fine.
Have you tried connecting at different Cloud venues? I discovered that it was a venue problem when I successfully connected to a local Pizza Express's Cloud.

    Hi,
How many network adapter card do you have of your computer?
Just the one. A Realtek PCIe GBE
Check whether the DNS is the correct one you had deployed
Yes, DNS is set to the 2k8 server IP as primary, and the secondary is OpenDNS.
and update the group policy by using this command ”gpupdate /force”.
Done, didn't appear to log any changes.
Check the registry key at  “HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Group Policy\History\NetworkName”
The NetworkName should be the domain name, when you get this done you will get a domain network profile, then restart your computer.
This key does exist and is the correct domain name.
