Public Users - Minimize / Close Portlet
Is it possible to set up portlets to allow public users (users that will not log in) the ability to minimize and/or close portlet windows? The functionality works as expected for users that log into the system. I've attempted to grant access as the various levels (page, page group, etc.), but still the minimize/close images do not appear on the portlets when public users are viewing the page(s). I've also change the "Display Page to Public Users" and "Enable Item Level Security" without success.
Thanks in advance for any help provided on this topic.
Minimize/Close actions for is not possible for users who are not authenticated. These actions on portlets is treated as a personalization for a user. So without an user being logged in (i.e., the public user), it is not possible to minimize/close the portlet.
I will investigate this more and come back to you with suggestions if any.

Public user sees old content of items in content area/portlets
I have items in my Content Area, as pl/sql folders, text and pl/sql items. These are all published as portlets. Access is set to public. The content of these items have been altered a couple of times during development, and they work as they should when I4m logged in as a user.
However, when I access these items (both directly by an url to the content area and by an url to the page containing the portlets) as the public user (not logged in), the content of these items is old. The content could be several weeks old, actually it is possible that the displayed content is the original content of the specific item (as it was when I first created the items).
To me, it sounds like a cache issue, and I tried to set "Enable plsql caching" to "no", with no improvement.
What can I do to solve this?
/SaraYou could try flushing the cache content by navigating to
$ORACLE_HOME/Apache/modplsql/cache
..and deleting the directories and all content beneath them.
This is guaranteed to cause a cache rewrite.
You should also set your page cache settings to 'Dont Cache' which will guarantee that the cache is not being used.
You can check the caching status of a portlet on a page by adding _debug=1 to the URL you are viewing.
You can read more about it here..

Portlets can not be seen by Public Users: Help Please!
Hi,
I have seen another message that might be the same that is happening to me. I have created a content area, with folders and items. I have selected all available options to make them public , appart from publish them as portlets. I have added them to a page but when I enter the page as a Public User (without logging into Portal) the portlets can not be seen...There are others that can be seen ...Could you help me with this?
Many thanks
MarielaI assume you're using the generic folder portlet to view the folders.
If you publish a folder as a portlet, are you able to see it? -
Collapse&restore portlets for public users (902)?
I'd like to enable public users to use collapse & restore feature for portlets (e.g. dynamic page) on public page. The collapse/restore button is not shown to public user even if I grant "manage" privilege to public on the page.
Is this feature, bug or HOW-TO? Any help apriciated.
Regards, TomazThis problem has been solved in TAR 2987265.996. It appears to be a bug! I would advise everybody to check the tabs on pages in version 30984 and 30985. Do not login to the pages, because then you will not see the problem.

How do I set the default welcome page for PUBLIC user
gurus,
i'm using -
Oracle 9i Database
Oracle 9ias Portal Release 2
QUESTION => how do I set the default welcome page for the PUBLIC user.
i did the following to achieve this -
1. logged into portal
2. clicked on builder
3. clicked on administer tab
4. selected PUBLIC user in the Portal User Profile portlet
5. went to the preferences tab
6. in the default home page selected a custom page group
7. logged out of portal
8. open a new browsere session
9. type the portal URL and i get the login page ....??
i'm unable to understand this behavior ... shouldn't i be getting the page group that i set for the PUBLIC user in step 6 above ....
the second QUESTION is => when the user logs out he/she should see the PUBLIC page set in step 6 above ... but, instead the user sees a page that is as follows -
Partner Application Name Logout Status [Logout Status]
Oracle Portal (portal) logout status
The SSO Server (orasso) checkmark
buzz.resva.trw.com:7778 checkmark
infrastructure.happy.resva.trw.com checkmark
portal1.buzz.resva.trw.com checkmark
portal2.sylvester.resva.trw.com checkmark
sylvester.resva.trw.com:7778 checkmark
so, how can i set the default page for the PUBLIC user and also a page when he user logs out.
ideas anyone ....?
thanx a bunch.
heroHi,
The sequence of operation you are doing to set the home page for public users is correct. You are getting the login screen as the "custom page group" selected as "home page" has not been granted to public.
Also, while logging-out, it is normal behaviour to get the screen where it shows the list of partner applications from where user has been logged-out. When you click on "Return" button, you will get to the "home page" set above.
Hope it clarifies the things.

Hello,
I have Omniportlet based on existing web pages defined as user orcladmin. When I want see page as public user he ask me to define Omni porlet. Why?I have recently been experiencing a similar problem on Portal 10.1.4 and have finally got to the bottom of it so thought I would share it here.
The problem was the language that the browser was set to (the browser that was used to define the portlet). The browser used to define the OmniPortlet was set to 'en-gb' but the OmniPortlet locale language in the provider.xml was 'en'.
I changed the language in the browser to be 'en' and redefined the OmniPortlet and then it displayed OK to all users. The solution was found on Metalink under Bug Number: 3573137. -
Problem running on demand process as public user

Searches don't work as PUBLIC user (i.e. not logged on)
Hello world,
We're using Portal 3.0.9.8.1 with Patch 1949492 installed. This is on 8.1.7.2.4 SE Database.
When performing searches as the PUBLIC user (i.e. not logged on) we only get limited returns (often zero) where there should be 100s. Documents that we know exist and that PUBLIC can see, navigate to and open do not appear in the search results.
Logged on this works fine. All documents are Made Public and we have various different categories that they're assigned to. For one Content Area, it never retrieves anything in searches as PUBLIC, despite the fact that it contains a great many PUBLIC items.
Has anybody experienced anything similar? This has never worked on any version of Portal we've had and Oracle Support seem at a loss.
Please help!Ross,
Hmm.. I suppose you're going to tell me that the quickest way to create a new TAR is on-line at 'metalink.oracle.com'??
This problem is already with support (TAR 2520870.1 - logged 22-Feb-2002), but thus far I've had no results.
I thought perhaps others may have experienced the same problem.
Cheers
Dave Dave
Please persevere with the TAR that you've already raised. I've taken a look at it and there seem to be a couple of issues that you've seen, which could be confusing the issue in the TAR.
The core issue is the one that you've raised in this forum question is why you don't see public results you expect when searching as the public user. This should work exactly as you expect it to.
Support now have one of your content areas so they should be able to determine if there are some specific circumstances which are causing the public items not to be returned.

How to Remove maximize/minimize/close top-bar in full-screen view [MAC]?
Hi.
My Q. is pretty much as the title implies.
It's a small thing, and maybe kind of trivial,
but I'd like to know how to get rid of the maximize/minimize/close top-bar in full-screen view in Adobe Reader on the Mac.
I am definitely in fullscreen view [I hit command+L], just so you know,
but I still have that top grey bar showing with the maximize/minimize/close buttons [the red, yellow, and green].
As I said, kind of a trivial concern, but I'd like to know how to hide that in full-screen mode.
I tried searching around a few places for an answer, but there is nothing too obvious.
I can't find anything in the full-screen preferences of reader either. Maybe I'm missing something...
Thanks!Version 11.0 , so I guess that is the most recent?
I think this is an application-specific problem too, because I don't encounter this in full-screen mode with other applications. -
Maximize/Minimize/Close buttons are all greyed out
Hello. Ever since a few days ago, the green, yellow, and red maximize/minimize/close buttons at the top left of every window have all been greyed out. They're all still completely usable and they do what you would expect them to do...there's just no color in them anymore. This is happening for all applications.
I'm not really sure what's causing this. I don't remember exactly when it stopped working or what happened right before it, but it may have started happening right after my computer shut down, possibly from overheating (My friend was trying to be funny and opened the application window in finder and then pressed Cmd+a followed by Cmd+o --- To open all of my applications. We watched it chugging along for a while and then the screen just went black and the computer turned off). I don't know if that would cause the problem, I'm not really sure why it would.
I tried a google search but came up empty handed. Any advice on how to fix this would be much appreciated. Thanks. No problem at all! Do remember to check the smallest things first before thinking that it is a big thing.

How to catch data from Purchase Order form, when user click CLOSE menu?
Hi,
I need do my own biz process when user click CLOSE in the Data menu to close a purchase order.
But I don't know how to get data from PO form which opened by user.
Can anybody give me some suggestions? thanks.Clicking "Close" is menuUID 1286. (Check this by going to View->System Information, and then hovering your mouse over "Close" in the menu. The menuUID is displayed in the bottom left of the screen)
So catch the menu event, when menuUID and pVal.BeforeAction = True.
The slightly tricky thing here is that pVal for a menu event doesn't give you the form, but it will be the active form, so you can do this:
Private Sub SBO_Application_MenuEvent(pVal As SAPbouiCOM.IMenuEvent, BubbleEvent As Boolean)
If(pVal.BeforeAction And pVal.menuUID = "1286")
SAPbouiCOM.Form oForm = SBO_Applcation.Forms.ActiveForm
//Now you have the form, when the user has clicked close, so process the data
//from the form as normal
End If
End Sub
Syntax might be wrong, I typed it up from memory and have no error checker!
