Public Website for Shared Photostream on iPad?

On an iPhone with iOS 6.1, in Photos, I can see all my photostreams, including those that are shared and public, by tapping the detail chevron on the right in the table row, then I can add subscribers, but I can also see the URL for the public website and can even Share (the) Link.
On an iPad with iOS 6.1, in Photos, I can select photo streams from among albums, events, faces, etc. but WHERE IN THE WORLD CAN I SEE AND SHARE THE PUBLIC WEBSITE AND LINK? How do I find the "Details" about each photo stream? I've spent 20 minutes trying to figure this out.
Thanks.

Whoa! I'm an iOS dev, and I have to say that is the worst UX I have seen from Apple! You tap Edit and the only visual change is delete circles - no, I don't want to delete the photo stream and I don't want to delete one by tapping to confirm deletion. I was scared to tap one! There is NO "affordance" that tapping any of the photo streams will let you do anything else but delete them one by one. They should've have just wiggled or something without the delete circle. Horrible UX.
But, thanks for the answer!

  • How to turn of public website of a Photostream?

I accidentally turned on the public website function of a private Photostream.
I cannot seem to turn it off and now it keeps consuming mobile internet en battery.
I have limited mobile internet, so I have to pay while it is still on.
Can someone tell me how to turn it off?

It's obviously hung up as it sould take less than a minute (and often, only a few seconds).  Try force-closing the photos app:  from the home screen, double-tap the home button, locate Photos in the list at the bottom, tap and hold it until it wiggles, tap to close it, tap the home button again.  Then reset your device by holding the power and home buttons at the same time until you see the Apple logo, then releasing.  When it restarts, reopen Photos and see if it's still stuck on publishing.

  • Tips on creating website for online content on ipad

Hi there I am not sure this is the right forum but here goes my question. I am building a simple website (text and pictures with slideshows) and my objective is to be able to show it to clients on the ipad without necessarily being connected to the internet. What is the best way to go forward? I was thinking of buidling it on iweb and somehow transferring it to the ipad for offline browsing, any other tips? how would I transfer the whole website to the ipad? thanx in advance
    Claudio

I could be wrong, but I don't believe that Safari, at least, will load pages locally. I would instead suggest creating your document as a Keynote or PowerPoint presentation and showing it with Keynote for iPad or another presentation app, or creating it as a PDF.
    Regards.

  • Hyperlink to a file on a public drive for shared users?

It is common for us to email files (mostly Excel, Work, and PDF documents) back and forth between users on our home network.  Our setup is one iMac that has a public folder that two macbook pros add, remove, and edit files on.  Rather than emailing the document and saving another copy, is there a way to hyperlink to the file on the drive and just send a link?
    Thank you

Pages doesn't support hyperlinks to local files. If you can make your server appear to have a URL address, your problem is solved.
Send Feedback to Apple from the Pages menu and tell them that you would like to be able to link to local files.

  • Shared photostream Notifications

I dont receive notifications for shared photostreams on my ios devices, rather I get an email about this photostream that someone is trying to share with me.
How do I get this notification right on my ios device rather than checking my email and clicking the shared photostream message...

I'm actually having this same problem. I have an iPad with a second iCloud account set up for training purposes, and if I send a shared photo stream FROM it to my regular account, it will show up in notifications on any device configured to show them just fine. However when I share a stream TO this trainer account, the emails are received, however no notification pops up.
I have verfied that Settings > Notifications > Photos shows Notification Center ON, I tried both Banners and Alerts, "Show alerts from" is set to Everyone (and I tried "my contacts only" too), and both preview and view in lock screen are on. I've disabled and re-enabled, and I've rebooted.
I even disabled Shared Photo Stream, let it delete the existing albums, then reenabled, and waited for all shared streams to download again. Then just to be sure it was working, I accepted an invitation received by email, and even though I saw noticications on other devices that the trainer account had subscribed, nothing showed up in Photo Stream at all! A reboot fixed that (they showed up after rebooting), but it certainly doesn't bode well.
Finally of course I tried sharing one more time from another device — and still got no notifications (but did get emails) on the trainer iPad.
For the life of me I can't get shared photo stream notifications to turn up on this device. Any ideas?
    thanks

  • We have multiple devices in our family.  On each iPad/iPhone each user has their own apple id for iMessage, Facetime and icloud, but we all sign in to the same apple id for itunes.  When one of my kids comments on my shared photostream, it shows my name??

We have multiple devices in our family.  On each iPad/iPhone each user has their own apple id for iMessage, Facetime and icloud, but we all sign in to the same apple id for itunes.  When one of my kids comments on my shared photostream, it shows my name and not theirs as the commenter.  How do I fix that?

    CREATE A NEW USER
Go to System Preferences --> Create a New User in Users & Groups
Decide on whether to setup as Admin or Standard User.
Switch to the New User by logging out under the Apple in the Menu Bar or use Fast User Switching
Fast User Switching allows other users to leave current applications and windows open. Depending on RAM, you might need to log out rather than use FUS.

  • HT4890 Shared photoStream not working for public share

Shared photoStream not working for public share and keep showing the same url for the first shared stream i have published. this means everytime i try to share to anyone else not using an iphone it comes up with page not found. I have also notice the in first initial public url which was given is the same url keeps showing up everytime i try to make it public. how do i reset or change that url so other public share stream will work. how do i get this to work

I've read some posts from users with a similar problem who were able to fix this by changing the download folder (or just click Change next to Download Folder, then click cancel).  Not sure if this will work for you but thought I would pass it along.

  • Shared Photostream: Photo Order for Public Web site

    I create a Shared Photostream.
I add pictures to the Photostream.
The people getting the stream who are on iOS devices see the photos in the order they were added to the stream.
    First In, First Out.
However, when I create the Public Website it appears that the photos are in the reverse order.
The last ones added to the stream are the first one seen.
Is the photo order just a coincidence? Or should there be a pattern to it? Consistent with the Website?
    Thanks!

  • HT201077 As of recently any photos I add to a shared photostream will not update for others. Only I can see them. How come others sharing this photo stream are not getting the new photos?

As of recently any photos I add to a shared photostream will not update for others and I don't see the updated photos on my other devices. Only I can see them from the device that i've posted from. How come others sharing this photostream are no longer getting the new photos? My iphone (the device i'm adding from) shows 20 pictures in this shared photostream and yet 4 other people that I share this photostream album with and my ipad only show 12 photos. For the past week I keep adding photos thinking people will see them but it just won't update the new ones. Any ideas how to fix this?

You can stop new photos being automatically added to Photostream in iPhoto from iPhoto preferences > Photostream.

  • Are iCloud photo streams shared on a public website crawlable by search engines?

I want to share a photo stream with friends and family, not all of whom have apple devices, so I'm pretty sure I need to share it as a public website and share the link that is assigned to it. However, I still want this photo stream to be private within this group. So I am wondering if icloud photo streams on public sites are crawlable/findable by search engines.

    Hey there dzaffrann,
It sounds like you have some questions about sharing your iCloud Photo Stream on a public site. Here is an article for you with some answers to these questions:
    iCloud Photo Sharing FAQ
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5902
Can I share with people who don't use iCloud?
Yes. If you enable Public Website in the settings for your shared album, your photos will be published to a website that anyone can view in an up-to-date web browser. Learn more about inviting people to view your shared album.

  • Is it viewable by anyone photos when sharing photo stream by ticking 'Public website'

    Hi Guys,
    2 questions:
    1. Where is the web-address when sharing photo on on photo stream in iPhoto (Mac version) by ticking 'public website'? how can i find it for reference?
    2. is it viewable by anyone not invited?
    Thanks.
    Pedro

When you create and publish a Public Photo Stream and then open it's Info tray in iPhoto the URL to the website will be show in the tray:
It will be viewable by anyone who gets a hold of the URL. You can send the URL to selected recipients but if they share it others can view the photos.
To view a private Photo Stream the recipient must have an Apple ID and an iCloud account. They will receive a notification like this:
Only those who have been invited can view a private Photo Stream.

  • More about public website option in shared photo stream

Can you require a password/authentication to enter the public website of the shared photo stream?
I want to share photos with non-Apple users. I know how to do this - through electing the 'public website' option 'so anyone can view them' when creating the shared photo stream.
My question focuses on how secure is this public website? Does it really mean "anyone" in the public could technically view them whether or not I added them to the subscriber list? Is it possible to require a password for my subscribers to view the website?
I'd be sharing family photos of my new baby boy and I'm not wild about the idea that any "Joe Schmoe" out there could potentially view them if they somehow found or got access to the link to the shared photo stream.
You could do this with MobileMe through the My Gallery. If iCloud is supposed to be "superior" to MobileMe, I would think sharing photos with people, even non-Apple users, securely would be even easier with iCloud.
    Thanks.

Incidentally you mght like to look at SmugMug - this allows password protection of galleries, together with a password hint if required.

  • Sharing photos through iCloud as "Public Website"

Is there a way to password protect photo albums that you have shared through iCloud as a "Public Website"? Is obscurity the only protection for the photos (i.e., that no one else knows the link to the album website)?

You can't password protect it.  As you mentioned, the only protection is that the url is only known to people you invite, and is unlikely to be discovered by others.

  • I have a shared photo stream that I converted to a public website. If enough people view it, will it show up in a search?

I have a shared photo stream that I converted to a public website. If enough people view it, will it show up in a search? It is for my business. I would like to provide pricing information but I do not want it to be found if a consumer searches for it. Are photo streams searchable on google, etc?

How much space depends on the size of the photos and how many there are.
Settings > general > usage > photos & camera. The shared albums will be included along with other photos.

  • I built a website for a customer using HTML only, so it would work on everything, but some of the text numbers are not clear on the ipad. It works perfectly on all the other browsers.

I built a website for a customer using HTML only, so it would work on any browser, and it works perfectly on everything except ipad safari. I'm loosing information with most of my text numbers - instead of being black they are displaying a 'ghost' image (white) of the numbers.
Is this a memory issue, or cache issue, or something else?  I've downloaded iCab and the site works perfectly with it.
Also wondering if I can manually reload/refresh web pages in iPad Safari.
Since most people with iPads will use Safari rather than iCab, I have to tweak this site to work in Safari.

Detecting phone numbers and making them clickable is a feature of the browser, and rebuilding your web-site links will not make any difference. Its done when the page is shown in the browser, not when the page is created.
According to the Safari iOS developers guide, you can turn these data detectors off using this code:
    <meta name = "format-detection" content = "telephone=no">
