Public wifi not connecting after Mavericks update

Ever since I upgraded to the new Mavericks OS I haven't been able to connect to wifi at work, which is a public access wifi that requires a login screen to be opened in Safari. I can connect to wifi at home or even wifi that is open, but if it has a login screen like at Starbucks, McDonalds or in this case my work, it says that my computer is out of range. The router is literally 10 feet away from me. I have tried "Forget This Network", network diagnostics, even entering in the IP, DNS and other perameters manually, but to no avail.
Please help, this is extremely frustrating. I have been using my hotspot on my phone for an internet connection at work.

Have you tried using the Image Capture app located in your Applications folder?
You can Import photos to the Preview app from there if you want or another photo editing app you have installed.

Smart Groups not working after Maverick update

I can not send a message with my SMART group after I updated the Maverick. Someone help!!!

I have found that I can use Outlook 2011 if I boot my macbook up in safe mode (hold shift key down when restarting). Outlook then works, but does not have all functionality - for example I cannot search my emails, though I can sort them.
This lets me get by for now, but it means of course that in safe mode there are many other things that the machine is not able to do so is only of use for checking emails.

New powerbook - airport extreme does not connect after Tiger update

Hi guys,
I see a lot of people are having problems with airport right now. I just got a new powerbook that worked fine with Panther, went online without a hitch. I downloaded a couple of software updates but don't know which. Then I installed the Tiger software and since then the computer does not connect. It show a wifi signal but tells me it can't connect etc.

I had the samething happen to me. I talked to tech support and they just had me click on the blue apple at the top- go to software updates- than I ran that...there was an update in there that corrected my problem. and I have been able to get get back my network!!
so give that a try.

Boot Camp not working after Mavericks update

Hello, I'm new in the communitie. I have a 2011 17" MacBook Pro, I was using MacOS X 10.7 and boot camp with Windows 7. I have updated to Mavericks and after the update my boot camp no longer works. When I hold the option key "Windows" is not showing. Please I need help, at least I need to recover my data.
Please some help!

does it show as windows in disk utils in osx?
personally I have gon from lion to mtn lion to Mavericks and never have it effect the windows partition in any way as it's read only for osx and non of the osx upgrades have changed the bootloader as far as I know

Mail still not loading after Mavericks update

I've been waiting for an update to Mavericks because I hadn't been able to launch Mail since upgrading from Snow Leopard. (I use several Gmail accounts and the "All Mail" trick suggested a couple weeks ago didn't apply to me.) So, yesterday I downloaded the new version. Unfortunately, the same thing is happening; when I click on Mail, a series of information windows open - "Upgrading your Mail database…", "Identifying message conversations…", "Optimizing your Mail database…" - and then whatever window is displayed at the moment disappears and nothing else happens. Mail does NOT open. Still. I can't use an OS if it doesn't support an e-mail program.
Are others still locked out of Mail in Mavericks? More importantly, does anyone have a fix? Is Apple still working on bugs in this program? If not, I'm stuck at 10.6.8.

To see your user library, either hold down the option key while using the Finder “Go To Folder” command
and select your user Library in your home folder or use the Finder “Go To Folder” command and enter ~/Library/Mail.
If you prefer to make your User library permanently visible, use the Terminal command found below.
Show User Library
You might want to bookmark the command. I have to use it again after every update. I have also been informed that if you drag the user library to Finder it will remain visible.

Mail not working after Maverick update!

I'm having a similar problem with Mail since the Maverick update.
I can open mail but most of my mailboxes are missing and it won't let me click on any of the remaining ones.
You can bring up any of the drop down menus and use as if it's working perfectly... but the mail window itself cannot be used?
I have brought the Mail window up and then clicked on enter time machine but no back ups appear... i endlessly float through the background?!
Everything else works on my Mac?
Can anyone help or maybe seen a thread that would apply to my circumstances?
Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

I have installed Mavericks, but my mail, Version 7 (1822), will no longer get new mail from the server.
I have to do it manually.
Any suggestions will be most appreciated.

Wifi card not connected after kernel update [solved]

Hi,
I've got a broadcom wifi card (BCM43225). Having deconnections with the brcmsmac driver, I changed for wl (from broadcom archive).
Today I updated the system and got the b43 driver. My wifi card would'nt see any network. On the networkmanager applet (gnome 3), tab "network parameters", it says "disconnected" and i can't find a way of reconnect my card.
I rebuilt the wl driver, it works as for the b43 (wifi card on) but still it's disconnected.
Extract of dmesg shows:
ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): wlan0: link is not ready
Any idea ?

It's weird: I had already installed b43 firmware from AUR but it didn't work (kernel 3.0). As I yaourted b43-firmware it said: "reinstall ?".
So I reinstalled and it f***ing works.
I'm not sure I got what happened...

Yoga 2 Pro wifi not working after driver update

Hi all, I just updated my brand new Lenovo Yoga 2 (13") from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. But after doing so, I cannot establish any WiFI/W-LAN-connection! If I go to the settings for network adapters in the system settings, I even caanot find the wireless LAN adapter as if it was not installed at all! Can anyone help me? Hello all. Fisrt of all, this are my specs: Yoga 2 pro 13". WiFi card: Intel(R)Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260. I bought it from Best Buy on November 27, 2014. If you aquired your Yoga before this date, you may have the single band WiFi card. As many of you have experienced, I also had a bunch of issues with my WiFi connectivity and this is how I was able to solve it. At least it has been a couple of days that I haven't had any issues. The first symptom was the usual connection drops every X amount of time. For me it was about every 2 hours. I first unchecked the "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" option in the Power Management tab of device manager and disabled U-APSD support in the Advanced tab of device manager. This action did not solve the problem. I then downloaded and updated the driver from the Intel web site (http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect) and this seemed to solve the drops; however, a new problem arised: Everytime my Yoga would wake up from sleeping mode, all my wifi networks were gone and the adapter showed as disabled in Device Manager. I would have to anable it to have my networks back. It was a solution but a pain the butt to have to do this everytime. After hours of reading post after post in several forums, I read a repy from Lenovo asking to try leaving the "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" CHECKED if you were using the latest version of the driver. I went back to device manager and checked it back and that seems to have solved the problem. So far I haven't had any drops and everytime my laptop comes back from sleeping mode the WFi connection is still there! Here is a recap of how everything ended up: -The driver version I installed is 17.1.0.19-The driver date is 7/21/2014-In device manager|Advanced, U-APSD support is Disbled.-In device manager|Power Management, "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" is checked. C7 Wifi not working after Anna update

I have a Nokia C7. Although some minor issues were their, my phone had been working fine since I bought it. However, last month I got the Latest Symbian Anna update on my phone. After that, my phone's wifi has stopped working completely. It does not even detect any wlan connections that are available.
Also, there are problems with the phone's music player which keeps hanging after short instances.
I have reinstalled the os once but that did not help at all.
I would surely be very glad if someone could help me solve my phone's wifi problem.

Reset the C7. Dial *#7370# reformat, you'll lose all data. Make a backup first and restore without the settings.

TS1398 Wifi wont connect after io6 update

After doing the ios6 update on my iphone 4 i cannot connect to my wifi anymore it wont even locate it either it has been like this for nearly a week. Anyone kmnow hoe to solve it tried few things I have seen on internet but nothing seems to be working

Try this. I just did and it worked. I have Iphone 4S and upgraded to IOS 6 this morning at home. At home I use a cisco router for wifi. My newly upgraded Iphone would only allow me to connect as a guest to wifi but even so my email, safari, and apps requiring a network did not work. My ATT network was ok. But still no safari, no email, nada.
I went to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
Then I waited. I tried to log in to my wifi again and this time it allowed me to enter in the wifi password.So, now everything is working fine.
If you know your wifi password, it's worth a shot. My son works at the Apple store and he told me to try this reset and it did work.

PhotoBooth flash not working after Mavericks update

Hey,
I have a mid-2010 13'' MBP and everything was fine up until last week when I updated to Mavericks from Lion. I try to take pictures on Photobooth (flash enabled), the screen flashes but the photo still comes out very dark and nothing happens, no matter if I'm in a dark room or not.
I've reinstalled the OS, restarted, changed permissions and all that but nothing works.
And this isn't the only application I've been having problems with - Dashboard sometimes doesn't open after sleep or it freezes a lot. I also think the computer is generally much slower. Really regretting this update.

The same happened to me, I don't know what is going on but my photo booth worked good until I updated to mavericks, pictures now are very dark with or without flash.

MacBook Pro not charging after Mavericks update

Is anyone experiencing an issue with not being able to charge their Macbook after updating Mavericks? I'm unable to charge my 2011 MacBook Pro that has Mavericks installed. This issue appeared only after running the latest update from Apple for Mavericks. I tried running the SMC reset but it still won't charge.

I had the same issue, when i updated to mavericks my charger stop charging sometimes the light would go orange sometimes green most of the time would be off but charging, i returned to mountain lion as the moment of the reinstallation was complete the charger started working and light was on and now is working perfectly no problem. I guess i will stick with mountain lion for now. I hope this helps.
