Publication URL?

How do you get a publication URL for enabling email sharing in App builder?

It's difficult to understand exactly what you're asking and how far along you've gotten with turning on the Social Sharing feature in your app. Here are the main steps:
* In the Account Admin tool, configure the Application account to turn on the "Enable Web Viewer" option. Also, specify the iTunes URL and the Redirect URL settings. If someone taps a link on the iPad and your app isn't installed, the iTunes URL lets them download the app. If sharing link is no longer valid for whatever reason, the Redirect URL points them to a different page, such as the iTunes URL or a web page. You can also specify paywall options.
* In the Folio Producer Editor, turn off "Protected" for all the articles you want to share. When a user shares an unprotected article, the article link is included in the email, tweet, or Facebook page. When a user shares a protected article, the Publication URL link is used.
* When you use the DPS App Builder to create the app, use the Social Sharing section to enable social sharing and include a Publication URL. As I mentioned, the Publication URL is used for the link when a protected article is shared. (If you want to see the difference, open one of the folios in DPS Tips, and choose Copy Link from nearly any article and paste it. Then choose Copy Link from the Credits page and paste it. The Credits page in each folio is protected, so it links to the Publication URL.)

  • Social Sharing Publication url

We have submitted a multi-folio app for approval couple of days back.
The magazine issues we are planning to publish are free to download. During the process of app creation through 'DPS App builder', we have setup up social sharing through email, twitter and copy link.
Now, in the DPS App builder wizard, it asked for 'publication url' in which we have mentioned the website address for the magazine.
My question is, when people share the article how is our website address relevant ? should we have the folio hosted on our website in order to have this enabled ? or will it be shared directly through the DPS server ?
When we tried the sharing feature on dev app on the ipad, it just took us directly to our website and not the article which is hosted in DPS ?
Did we do something wrong ? or will it just work when the app is in production ?

All articles are protected by default, therefore social sharing to work, your articles has to be un-protected. You control those from the Folio producer dashbaord.
Below is a link on a complete tutorial and giude on understanding social sharing and how to set up. Please go through and let us know if you have questions

  • Social Sharing only links to Publication URL not Web Viewer URL

I initially created a multi-folio app with the DPS App Builder (Social Sharing enabled per the instructions), but forgot to enable the Web Viewer on my account.
This, per the documentation under Enable Web Viewer in this article: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/digitalpubsuite/using/WS9293e1fb3b977c5c-6c5b4101331de1fd6a-80 00.html, causes all SHARED links to be the Publication URL. Oops!
I have since enabled the Web Viewer, republished my Folio AND re-generated my app, and the Social Sharing button in the App will only display the Publication URL, and not the Web Viewer URLs.
Do I just need to be patient?  It's been a few hours.
Also: is there any way to get to the Web Viewer URLs outside of sharing through the app?

See this thread about a Sept 27th outage which may have affected you.

  • New features of DPS

I would like to see a publication that already would use the new tools of the DPS, likefavorites, facebook etc..
Does anybody knows if there is already one available in the appstore? or  will we have to wait for Apple to approve the upgrade of the applications?
    Regards
    Renata

I'll do that. It will have the Bookmarks and Social Media features. In my opinion, the Bookmarks feature is excellent and easy. The click of any option in Viewer Builder enables in, and everything else takes care of itself. The initial Social Media implementation is something you want to take a close look at before you enable it. At this point, only Facebook is available, and the generated link takes you only to a publication URL you specify.
The DPS Tips app won't have any high-resolution content. Currently, all viewers created with the Viewer Builder enable only 1024x768 folios, not 2048x1536 folios. There will be a hot fix early next week. Until this Viewer Builder hot fix comes out, I recommend against submitting a custom viewer to Apple. Johannes, you should add this to your web site.

  • HTTP or LDAP for CRL

    Hello
I am setting up a new PKI (in a LAB initially) an reading up on the subject.
I see the default location for the CDP is in the Configuration partition in AD and therefore accessed via LDAP://......
I also see other recommending using IIS/HTTP to publish the CRL, CPS
I can see the advantage of publishing the CPS via HTTP (not sure how you would import a file e.g. text file containing the CPS into AD in any event)
    Question 1:
But what are the main advantages/disadvantages of placing the CRL in an IIS site and therefore HTTP?
    Question 2:
I can see how the AD integrated CA would publish updated CRL to AD as the CA is integrated (e.g. Sub issuing CA)
If the CRL is published via IIS/HTTP will the CA be able to automatically update the CRL via HTTP PUT or something like that (and if so I assume the CA Server needs rights to the Site and underlying NTFS folder containing the sites files),
or will I have to manually download the CRL from the CA and publish to the HTTP site manually (or via script)?
    Question 3:
Can I have the CRL published to LDAP and HTTP at the same time, and therefore I assume I will have to update the CA in come where so when it issues certificates is states both location in the CDP information within the certificate?
    Any help most appreciated

    1) HTTP versus LDAP
The advantages of HTTP over LDAP/AD:
Easy anonymous access - you don't need an AD account or tweak your AD permissions, so you can serve validating apps on non-domain machines or on machines in other forests.
No replication delays (if you can use a web server in the domain, see 2) and 3)).
Can be used as 'external' and 'internal' URL, using split DNS or by publishing using a reverse proxy.
If you use the same CA for 'external' and 'internal' certificates: You do not disclose information about the structure of your AD forest to external parties.
One advantage of LDAP / AD might be the distributed structure that provides 'fail-over' - but you can use load-balanced web services with HTTP.
    2) Automation of publication to an HTTP URL
You cannot use HTTP PUT unless you would write your own application for that - but you can simply share the directory the web server uses, give the CA machine account Write permissions, and add a UNC path to the list of CRL publication URLs (file:///\\webserver\share\%3%8%9.crl)
Pre-requisite: The web server needs to be member of the same or a trusted Windows domain. Otherwise you would need a script that copies or FTPs the CRL.
    3) Point of time of CRL publication - LDAP vs. HTTP
If you can use the UNC path as explained before both this path and the LDAP object would be populated with the new CRL at the same time. Otherwise (web server not in a trusted domain) you would need to run the publication script more often than the CRL is
published so that there is not too much lag.

  • Removing or changing variables in LDP or AIA paths

Trying to document and do a test install in a test environment. Ive see a few posts that talk about not having the server name in the AIA path and removing the %%1 like this for the offline Root CA
    certutil -setreg CA\CACertPublicationURLs "1:%WINDIR%\System32\CertSrv\CertEnroll\%%1_%%3%%4.crt
    to
    certutil -setreg CA\CACertPublicationURLs "1:%WINDIR%\System32\CertSrv\CertEnroll\%%3%%4.crt
A little confused and cant seem to find much on this. Would I leave the _ before the %%3? I see that %1 is <ServerDNSName>.
So are you only removing the %%1 in the AIA local and the AIA HTTP paths or just the local?
    Thanks!
Also does ANYONE know when Brian's Server 2012 book is coming out?

The 'sanitized name' I mentioned is not a pre-defined configuration parameter - I have replaced the variable %%3 automatically populated by the CA with a variable I created. So in CRLPublicationURLs you would then find [YourCustomSanitizedNameString]%%4.crt
(I should not have called it sanitized name as the CA truncated name %%7 is sometimes also called sanitized name -  e.g. in
this list of the replacement tokens).
As I said, it is more a matter of taste to remove the blanks and you could of course also keep %%3! Sorry if this was confusing.
Yes, you can omit %%1_ in the way you did. The only part of those URLs you should never change are the suffixes %%8, %%4, and %%9 so that the CA will use new URLs for renewed certificates and / or keys and create delta CRLs correctly. The rest of the URL
can be changed if you make sure that the file will be published to that URL.
But you need to 'duplicate' all the % signs in replacement tokens when used in a script - in your AIA HTTP URL it should be %%3 instead of %3.
Note that the host's NetBIOS name is included in the LDAP URL - in %%2. So you ever want to migrate this CA to another server the new server would need to keep publishing CRLs to that object. If you would want to change that as well you would need to publish
the first CRL manually to create the non-standard container.
You said you use another IIS: In case this is a server in the domain you could use an UNC path as a publication URL.
Edit: Forget the comment about the UNC path - as this is an offline Root CA.

  • Advice:Only Periodically sharing

I had My Ibook sharing my library with XP (speakers hooked to PC), all was fine until I added Itunes 5 to XP. Now it won't Share. Most of the time the PC Itunes wont even show the shared music source. A few times it had, but listed nothing in the shared source.
Anybody got some advice on what I'm doing wrong, or if Itunes 5 is doing something different.

I haven't had the time to update DPS Tips with new v20 features. But it does have the social sharing option available. If you have an iPad 1 or 2, browse to an article and tap the icon in the upper right corner. Then choose Email and send the link to yourself. When you click the link on your desktop computer, you'll see the article in your desktop browser. (I currently have a paywall threshold in place for demo purposes that limits article views.) If you use an iPad 3, you won't be able to view the hi-res content in the desktop browser -- not in v20.
You don't need to add the Facebook icon unless you want to set up a different kind of sharing manually.
The article appears on the desktop browser more or less like it appears on the iPad, but there are still a lot of issues and limitations with certain overlays. Don't confuse the article display with the publication URL. The publication URL is a generic web page -- it could even be the iTunes page -- where the link jumps to if the article is protected. If the article is unprotected, the link goes to the article's web view.
Copy and paste lets you copy the URL of the uploaded article. You can then paste this URL in a website or email message.

  • Advice on Social Sharing

I am somewhat confused about Social Sharing available in v20 Tools. Can anyone explain? Has anyone used this feature yet? I have updated Bob Bringhurst’s excellent DPS Tips apps but can’t find a ref to Social Sharing
This is extracted from one of the Help pages....
If you create a custom multi-issue viewer app, you can enable social sharing. Your customers can choose an option in your viewer to share the article through Facebook, Twitter, email, or copy and paste. This message includes either a link to the publication URL or to the article, depending on whether you protected the article. Anyone who clicks the article link can view the article contents in a desktop web browser or on the iPad. This article refers to the v20 viewer version.
If you have not already done so, create a web page for your publication. The URL for this page is called the "Publication URL."
Do I add the FaceBook Share icon to my article?
Does the article appear on a web page (Publication URL) exactly as it does on an iPad?
    Copy and Paste what?

  • HTML representative of DPS article

Okay so I'm not sure what I'm missing here.
To my understanding the idea of the "HTML representative of DPS article" was that these would be auto-generated by the folio server and hosted on a "adobe.com" or such domain.
When our users Share something via Facebook / Twitter / Email these links would direct them to an HTML representation in their browser ( I assume there would be some sort of link in this viewer to download the app from the relevant app store ? )
Currently all I get is a link to the Publication URL right, which is literally just an app marketing page created by our client, which for the most part is terrible and we're redoing it.
Anyway do these HTML represenations exist ? Anyone have a link ? What am I doing wrong ?
I can't seem to find answers in the documentation.

    Arc...
Definitely un-protect each article in Folio Producer: Editor. The default value is for each article to be Protected. Therefore unless you manually unprotect, it will not be visible in the browser. Note also it will not be visible on the iPad.
    Bob -
When do you think we will get multi-select checkbox's in Folio Producer: Editor? It is a real pain to go and manually toggle by article TOC visibility, H Swipe, Protect, on/off on a large multi-article doc!
Also any progress on Multi-Select in Folio Builder panel? Continues to be a real pain to update articles one by one!

Name Error: The domain name does not exist.

  • Unable to Open a URL or File in Captivate 7 publication, When will this be fixed?

This was reported as a known issue, but there is no indication will it be fixed. Please advised as to when this functionality will be fixed, the suggested work around to move referenced documents to the root directory of the presentation is not acceptable.

I have several projects that we just upgraded to Captivate 7. I can't go back at this point, and for me to go back and edit every slide with buttons using this functionality is going to be a bear. This is something that worked in prior versions and apparently is broke in Captivate7. http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1285497. It has been 4 months since it was indicated as a known issue. Is it too much to ask that a product work as designed and that when there is a problem that it be fixed in a timely manner?

  • How can I open the right URL in PDF?It's like a bug in adobe reader.

In my case, the PDF in our company always have a DOI on it, which is a URL can lead the reader to the article’s website page. But we found out that the URL in the PDF wouldn't show the link completely, If the URL is http://dx.doi.org/10.6310/jog.2009.4(3).3 in PDF, and I click the link, it will link to http://dx.doi.org/10.6310/jog.2009.4 . It is a big problem that would take the reader to the meaningless page. And it seems a bug, because the url is Ok if I use PDF-Viewer to open it. Can you help us to deal with this problem? Thank you.

Parsing parentheses in a URL is a problem for Reader and Office as well. It's not a good idea to use parentheses in URLs for that reason. Some older browsers will even have trouble with them.
The URL I get from that link is: http://www.airitilibrary.com/Publication/alDetailedMesh?DocID=P20140124001-200912-20140128 0011-201401280011-93-102
    Why not just use that?

  • How to open Viewer from other apps? - App 'URL Scheme' has disappeared from Viewer Builder!

    Hello
The 'URL Scheme' option in the Viewer Builder did let me to specify a url that made other apps open my viewer. But this option has disappeared from the newer version of Viewer Builder. So. How do I do now to let other apps open my viewer?

Is there a spacial reason that the URL scheme option was taken away from ordinary Multi-issue viewers? It was there in earlier version. I'll explain our situation:
Our client want to publish corporate information; annual reports etc, with DPS. Not really magazines or newspapers you subscribe to.
We are making another app where they publish news articles, videos etc. In that app, we want to have a link which opens the viewer with their publications.
To make this simple thing work, we have to create a 'subscription' to content which is not relly good for subscribing (it is free and announced with push anyway). We also have to tell the client to create Privacy Policys etc for this. A lot of hassle for something we do not really want.
Any chance that this option will come back in v19?

  • E-Recruiting - Recruiter URL works for one user and doesn't for another

    Hi
I am new to e-Recruiting, so any help will be greatly appreciated.
We are in the process of configuring the SAP e-recruiting module on  an existing HCM system.  It is only a demo system.
We started off with the IDES, with SAP sample data.
We activated the BSPs via SICF.
We generated the BSP URLs via program rcf_generate_urls.
We picked two existing employees (PERNRS) in the system and linked test IDs (USERID1, USERID2) to them in infotype 105.  Both USERID1 and USERID2 have BASIS/Superuser authorizations.
When USERID1 runs the recruiter startpage it displays the page correctly.  Pernr of USERID1 has a Candidate(NA Object) linked to it's CP object.
When USERID2 runs the recruiter start page it gives an internal error.  This Id's pernr does not have a candidate object.
Should there be a NA object for every CP object?  Does any one have some business process guides that may help us understand the relationships between the objects?
    Please advise.
    Thank you
    Amina

    Hello Amina,
not everyone should have a candidate (NA) object, every one MUST have a candidate object. No matter which role someone plays within the e-recruiting system (recruiter, manager, admin, internal candidate, external candidate, talent manager, ...) he needs a candidate to work with the system.
Assuming you have an ERP2005 (= E-Recruiting 600) you can use report RCF_USER_CREATE to create users for test purposes. For the productive environment you have to set up HR -> E-recruiting integration and can run HRALXSYNC to create candidates for existing employees.
I am not sure how much business process documentation there is in sap help. I have to admit I prefere learning from the system. Perhaps a very rough overview:
    e-rec brings the following objects:
    NA - Candidate
NB - Requisition / Application Group
    NC - Posting
    ND - Application
    NE - Candidacy
    NF - Talent Group
furthermore e-recruting uses some additional objects from the hr base and other components (P Employee, CP Central Person, US User, BP Business Partner, O OrgUnit, S Position, QK qualification group, Q qualification, VA/VB/VC Questionaire and its elements)
NA - The candidate is the central representation of everyone in e-recruiting. A Candidate is always linked to a CP which is linked to a BP and a US. If the person is an employee the CP is linked to the P object, too. (Hint: for integrated systems the user for an employee is not linked in HRP1001 but retrieved from IT0105 directly, e-recruiting uses a standard function of HR here, the hr function modules for reading object releations virtualize this assingment as hrp1001 relation).
NB - The NB object has currently 3 slightly different tasks. As requisition it is the internal view for an internal/external hiring request, it defines what you are looking for e.g. "ABAP programer, 40 hours/week, place of work London, ..". As application group it allows to accept applications for "areas" where you have currently no exact position to hire but regularely look for canditates. Application groups channalize unsolicited applications e.g. Interns, Engineers. Third usage is the requisition for succession planning - not really important.
NC - Posting is supposed to be the outside view. It contains the texts for the requisition published in the different channels. as you might to use a different text for the different media a requisition can have several postings. A posting has one or more posting instances / publications. They are not an hr object type, they define the channel with publication duration and language where you publish your posting.
ND - The application can be compared with the hardcover application. If a candidate applies he creates an application. The application is linked to the candidate of course and as the candidate applies through a certain channel the application is linked to the posting.
NE - The candidacy is the assignment to a requisition. You could say it is the task / intention to check a candidate for the requisition so it is linked to the requisition and the candidate. As the candidate applies for the job described by the requisition (application group are treated the same here) an application is always linked to at least one candidacy. If a recruiter decides based on the candidates profile that he is interesting for another open positions he can add more candidacies to the application to check the candidate for these requisitions. There is also the posibilit that you create a candidacy w/o application. Every external who applied and every employee is in the system even if he has no active application. External candidates can even register to the system w/o applying. You can check this pool for suitable candidate an assign them to a requisition. This is a candidacy w/ an application. You can later request a candidate to apply to this requisition but it is theoretical possible to process the complete hiring just with a candidacy.
NF The Talent group is used to structure the huge amount of candidates in the pool. E.g. you can form a talent group "High Potentials - Design Engineers". You can use these groups to easier find suitable known candidates if a matching requisition is opened. But they are also needed for pool development. For short applicant groups you can track them and try to stick with your company till you get the right opening for them.
The other object are linked to this core. Qualifications are linked to requisitions as requirement and linked to candidates of course. OrgUnits and Positions can be linked to requisitions to link to OM. Questionaires are assigned to candidates at all for general appraisal or to candidacies to appraise the suitability for the requisition or to track interview, assessment results.
There ore other "objects" in e-recruiting which are not represented by an OTYPE. One example is mentioned above the publication. Others are recruiting team and recruiting plan. If you need information to one of these just post another reply.
Hope that gives some basic overview about the objects.
    Best Regards
    Roman Weise
