  • Error while starting managed servers in a cluster

    Hi,
I have Weblogic 8.1.3 deployed on my system. We've have a Ant script that set's up the project domain etc. We have an admin server and two other managed servers which are part of a cluster. I am able to start the admin server and access the admin console without any errors. However when I start any of the managed servers in the cluster, using the following command (startManagedWebLogic.cmd Reactor-1 http://localhost:80 OR startManagedWebLogic.cmd Reactor-2 http://localhost:80)
I get the error listed below. The same Ant script was used to setup the project on another system and it worked but I haven't been able to set it up on my system.
The error says that it could be due to servers having duplicate names in the cluster but thats not the case here, the managed servers are named Reactor-1 and 2.
Also, the IP address being accessed, 192.168.141.50:81 is not my system, its another system on the network. I've done a full text search for the IP address but I've not been able to find it in ANY file under c:\bea.
Can someone please tell me if I've missed something? I'd appreciated any help with this.
              Thanks
              Ameeth

    Hi Shane --
Yes, they were installed from the same disk (I'm pretty sure I did a software update on both but will double-check tonight).
When I try to Import the project, it is grayed out in the 'Choose a File' window. If I double-click the project from the Finder, I get "General Error (41)" -- which is a different one than when I tried it yesterday (when I had no other sequences active).
Also something weird today -- although the edited footage is all linked fine & plays properly, in the timeline most of the footage shows the red "Media Offline" frame for its thumbnail.
    Any ideas?
    Many thanks!!

Nothing is built in Project Server to do this for you automatically.
They way I have done this in the past is to create a SQL job using SSIS.  It runs every hour and when it sees a project schedule that has a recent PUBLISHED date then this is a trigger to send an email to project manager.

iWeb has two other ways to publish your site...

If you have folders of assets outside of the main website folder on MobileMe, download them from the Apple server. From the Finder Go menu, follow the path iDisk/My iDisk/ to get there. Your website files are in the Web/Sites folder. Drag any files/folders onto the desktop.
Use an FTP application to upload these assets to the root folder on your new server...

If you have been using a web.me.com domain name, you need to register a new one. Most hosting services give you at least one free and registering with your hosting company will make forwarding and managing it a lot easier.

  • Project Professional 2010 Not Publishing to Project Server 2010

I am having trouble publishing a project from Project Professional 2010 to the Project Server 2010 (PWA). What I am trying to publish is a master project which is contains many enterprise projects as subprojects. When I press publish, it prompts me
to save and if I click yes then it goes through and saves all the subporjects and then just stops there and doesn't publish the changes to the master project. If I press publish and click no to the save prompt then it gives me the status "sychronizing
data to server" for around 15 seconds and then just does nothing after the sychonization finishes.
It usually should be giving a "publishing job done 0%" or "publishing job completed" when it publishes, but it gives nothing like that. I also check the project through the PWA and it has not updated yet, but when I open it for editing in the client it has
everything updated and up to date, meaning that the save is working properly and just not the publishing.
All my subprojects are able to publish correctly, it's just this master project that is not working.
Does anyone know why this is happening? Is the publishing process timing out for some reason? Or is it something else?
    Please help.
EDIT: The progress notification at the bottom of Project Professional just stops at "save completed sucessfully" whenever I try to publish

  • How many managed Servers do you need?

    Hi,
One thing that has come up time and time again, is when trying to think about a new project and a new WL domain, is trying to know how many WL Managed Servers do you need?
Does BEA have some sort of metrics which says ok for this amount of input we recommend you having 4 managed servers on 4 single boxes?
And is there think on have 2 managed servers on 1 box or 2 managed servers on two boxes?
    Any Help Appreciated.
    Kind Regards,
    Alistair.

    Hi :-D
I don't believe BEA have guide lines on how many Managed servers are required based on Metrics. You could look at some performance evaluations but it's really only relevant if your application acts in the same way.
    Cheers,
    Doug.

  • Managed servers on multiple platforms?

    Hi,
I was wondering if all of my managed servers in a Weblogic domain have to be running on the same platform. For example, can I mix Solaris/SPARC and Linux/x86 boxes within the same domain such that some remote managed servers in the domain are different? In the WL documentation, it mentions that all WLS instances in a domain must be running the same version of WLS itself, but it doesn't mention the underlying OS or hardware. I'm assuming that since everything is running in a JDK, it's OK to do, especially since I'm using a generic WLS installer for UNIX platforms.
Install WebLogic Server on the machines on which you want to host Managed Servers for the WebLogic domain.
    Note:
All WebLogic Server instances within a WebLogic domain must run the same version of the WebLogic Server software.
Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi Kent,
    It should work fine.
This kind of mixes are generally not recommended in order to avoid conflicts due to packages specific for each OS, but should not be the case of the generic installer.
The generic installer is truly generic to all OS platforms. Note that you must comply with the published supported platforms (OS, chip set, etc).
Sinice Java is platform independent, there is no distinction between a Java application running on Linux and the same application running on Windows. A Java application is the same and can be run on any OS bit version of any flavor without a single change.
At its root, WebLogic Server is a Java application, nothing more, nothing less. So, think of WebLogic Server as a Java application that is run like any other Java application by invoking the main method. In WebLogic Server the main method is in the weblogic.Server class. So, to start WebLogic Server we use the java command, the same as for any other Java application:
    java <MEM_ARGS> -cp <CLASSPATH> <JAVA_OPTIONS> weblogic.Server
As mentioned in your post, make sure the JVM is the same (JVM mixtures in a cluster are not supported).

  • Publishing RoboHelp projects using third-party app and RH command prompt

    Hi -
I am curious to know if anyone has used the RH command prompt to publish a RH project using a third party application - i.e. homegrown app?
I'm thinking of creating an application that will allow RH users register their projects for knowledge management purposes. It would act somewhat like an LMS where users could post their dev files on a network share. When ready to review with the customer, the would use the registration tool to push the project to preview. The app would call the RH command prompt using a server side technology, in my case .NET, and supply the necessary arguments and push the generated project to preview. Once it had been reviewed and ready, then the user could push to production.
Any thoughts on this - reasons why this wouldn't work, good, bad, ugly, alternatives? - all constructive comments welcome
    Thanks

    Hi there
I see some flaws with that.
    J41 wrote:

Dev files need to always be local. Placing on a network share for the purposes of using RoboHelp to compile or generate is risky business and may explode in your face. LMS to me means Learning Management System. Those are typically used for eLearning. RoboHelp does help systems. Captivate does eLearning. So you are losing me with your LMS reference.
When ready to review with the customer, the would use the registration tool to push the project to preview.
I'm lost. What "registration tool" are you even referring to here? Or is this what you are planning on creating and that's what you are choosing to call it?
The app would call the RH command prompt using a server side technology, in my case .NET, and supply the necessary arguments and push the generated project to preview.
There is no "preview" of projects. Preview of individual topics, sure. But not for a project. There is only compile or generate to create the final output.
Once it had been reviewed and ready, then the user could push to production.
Sounds like what one might typically accomplish using RoboHelp in a typical development cycle. You edit content on the local hard drive. If a review is needed, you compile or generate the content and place the output on a server. After approval is complete the content is then copied to the production server.
Sure sounds like you are attempting to reinvent the wheel in many situations here.
    Cheers... Rick

    Hello Ajaz,
BPM-70801 is a very generic error that can have multiple causes. Please provide the error log from servers log file. From what I understand, you are using a separate soa_server1, so watch out /your_domain/servers/soa_server1/logs/soa_server1.log

  • External Variable Null Pointer Exception when I publish two projects

I have the following external variables exception thrown when I publish two projects alongside each other. These projects share the majority of there 50 odd project variables. (I know that this is a bit excessive but the customer wants to be able to search under this many variables). I have checked and found that there are not any differences in the variables across the two projects.
This exception is brought up when the second of the projects is published, no matter which way around they are published. In two incidences, out of about 30, I have managed to deploy this code without this problem occuring.
I am using ALBPM Studio Version: 6.0.5 Build: #97234 and ALBPM Enterprise Version: 6.0.5 Build: #97234. I am deploying these to a Sun Solaris 10 environment with an Oracle 10G database.
I would be very grateful for some assistance with this problem.

    Hi Simon,
If I were you, I would try installing the latest hotfix. There were some important fixes (such as #8715504) related to variable mappings.
May be it is a good idea to undeploy that project and deploy it again once the HF is installed.
    Hope this helps,
    Ariel
PS: Remember to regenerate and reinstall all the EARs once the HF is installed.

  • Project Server 2013 - Graphical Indicators - Not showing until the project is published via Project Pro 2013

    Greetings -
I have a custom field on a PDP that is used to manually flag a project for review.  Once the field is set to "Flag" a red flag should show on the Project Summary page prompting the Portfolio Manager to follow up.  The red flag only appears
after publishing the project via Project Pro 2013 not by just editing the PDP via Explorer (Save and Check in).
This occurs on both projects that were created prior to the graphical indicator being added to the PDP and new projects.
Now if instead of using the red flag graphical indicator I just used the text "FLAGGED" that would work fine.
So is this a bug?  Or is something setup incorrectly?  Or is this how PWA is supposed to handle graphical indicators on the project summary page?
Any help would be much appreciated.

    Hi Gunnery,
I made the following test: I create 2 project ECF both inserted in the Project details PDP:
for review: flag type field with graphical indicator in case value = yes
for review_2: text type field (with a yes/no look-up table) with graphical indicator in case value = yes
Whitout going to Project Pro, I'm able to modify the 2 fields for any project (created before or after the ECFs creation) and the graphical indicators are instantaneously shown in the summary project center view (just pressing F5).
Note that the graphical indicator is not shown in the PDP, just the text value. Note also that I've not been to Project Pro neither to PWA/schedule PDP to publish the project plan.
    Then
Does that correspond to your need? Can you reproduce this example and validate wheither or not it works.

  • Publishing WebHelp_Pro Projects

I am looking for some help viz publishing WebHelp_Pro
    projects to RoboEngine.NET.
As far as I can make out, it is only possible to publish
multiple WebHelp_Pro projects as merged projects that share the
same table of contents. However, I would really like to publish my
projects so that they each retain their separate table of contents.
This would allow me to give customers a separate web address for
the Help for each product. Is it possible to do this?
    Thanks,
    Alan

Hi Alan and welcome to our community
I'm not sure about the .NET version of RoboEngine, but I
think that the regular RoboEngine has a Configuration
manager icon that you can use to configure settings for RoboEngine.
IIRC, one of these settings controls the ability to merge the
    projects.
Hope this helps a little... Rick
