Publish Calendar to URL

Is there a way to publish a calendar to a URL that takes co-workers to a website to view the calendar and not have to subscribe to the calendar.  Basically I would like it how it was before ICloud.  I have Lion. Thank you.

No one out there has an answer?

  • Question about publishing Calendar and URLs

Hi everyone, have a question that hopefully knows the answer too. I have been researching on how to publish individual user calendars to external users.
I have seem to come across 2 different ways to do this
    1) is to right-click on my calendar in OWA, then I select the external recipient and it emails the recipient a long url similar to:
    http://webmail.mydomain.com/owa/calendar/[email protected]/4d9f8b52769b4ddca3e51f6f82d01b6f1902995877095312719/S-1-8-2306188436-3125773453-2945785077-3615357645/reachcalendar.html
    2) Within Outlook 2013, I click on "publish calendar" and it takes me to an ECP url for my exchange server where I can select how many months I want to share, the permission they can see, etc... and then it provides me at the bottom with two links
    like:
    http://webmail.mydomain.com/owa/calendar/[email protected]/Calendar/calendar.html
My question is what are the differences between these two methods and also, both of these urls will NOT work unless I change them to HTTPS instead, how I can modify the links that get emailed out? I did see for the 2nd method above I can set it using the
"PublishedCalendarUrl" in Powershell, but that is impractical for a lot of users.
    thanks!

    Hi BMIG,
    Please re-start IIS for testing.
If not working unfortunately, please use IIS Manager to simplify the OWA url and force redirection to SSL.
    Steps as below:
    1. Start IIS Manager.
    2. Expand the local computer, expand Sites, and then click
    Default Web Site.
    3. At the bottom of the Default Web Site Home pane, click Features View if this option isn't already selected.
    4. In the IIS section, double-click HTTP Redirect.
    5. Select the Redirect requests to this destination check box.
    6. Type the absolute path of the /owa virtual directory. For example, type
    https://mail.contoso.com/owa.
    7. Under Redirect Behavior, select the Only redirect requests to content in this directory (not subdirectories) check box.
    8. In the Status code list, click Found (302).
    9. In the Actions pane, click Apply.
    10. Click Default Web Site.
    11. In the Default Web Site Home pane, double-click SSL Settings.
    12. In SSL Settings, clear Require SSL.
    13. For the new settings to take effect, open a Command Prompt window, and then type
    iisreset /noforce to restart IIS.

  • How to change the default view of published iCal's URL

I am publishing an iCal for a nonprofit group and link to the calendar from the group's website. The default URL given (in the send publish email option) leads to the week view of the current week. I would prefer the link to take site visitors to the month view of the calendar. If I go to the month view and copy the URL for it, and use that for the link, I have to change the URL each month, because the URL that comes from the month view will only show the month it was at the time I copied the URL -- it will not change with the new month. Does anyone have any idea of how I can change the URL so that it leads to the month view of whatever the current month is?
I should note that I know how to change the default view in the my browser, but I would rather not have to explain how to do this to all the people viewing the calendar -- just wanting the correct month view to show up when they click the link, without having to change it each month.
I would be so grateful if anyone has some insight on this!
    Thanks.

    Carlo,
The fact that this question has been left unanswered for over 2 months seems a little negligent on the part of Apple Support.
This Forum is unfortunately not Apple Support. According to Apple:
What is Apple Discussions and how can it help me?
"Apple Discussions is a user-to-user support forum where experts and other Apple product users get together to discuss Apple products. You'll find a wealth of information about your favorite Apple hardware and software products that will help you get the most out of your purchase. You can participate in discussions about various products and topics, find solutions to help you resolve issues, ask questions, get tips and advice, and more.
If you have a technical question about an Apple product, be sure to check out Apple's support resources first by consulting the application Help menu on your computer and visiting our Support site to view articles and more on our product support pages."
In direct response to your questions, I would say that (as observed by the OP) anyone who subscribes to a published calendar can make a change to their desired view using the "Preferences" icon which is displayed underneath the mini-month calendars.
There is no way that I know of to directly or conveniently change the time-range. There may be workarounds, but I could not find a suitable solution for you.
I would recommend that you provide iCal Feedback, if you are interested in informing Apple of your desires.

  • Publish calendar to mobileme no longer works

I've been publishing a calendar in iCal to mobileme for several years. After upgrading to Snow Leopard, I noticed that the publishing was not working (the icon next to the calendar in iCal indicated an error). So I unpublished and republished. I was told it was successful and give me that window with a button to view the published calendar. When I do that, Safari goes to the site but prints a message, telling me "We're sorry but we cannot find the iCal you've requested. It's possible that it has been deleted or renamed."
I cut and paste the address into Safari - the URL that I was provided after a successful publish, and again got the same error. I've unpublished several times and republished, always successfully - so I was informed when the calendar was sent. But I always get the same error reported.
I've gone to my mobileme via browser to check my iDisk and other features - they all work. My iCal is even correct when viewed. It's just the published calendar that can't be accessed.
Anyone know what's going on or have a suggestion.
    Thanks.
Well, I tried another search and have found a thread where users indicate the same problem. This seems to be a mobileme problem that I guess I'll have to wait until it is fixed.

Yep, same problem. Won't show up via browser and the embedded calendar won't display in iWeb. I've changed the calendar name, exported and imported (removing unsafe alarms), shortened the calendar name as to exclude any numerical or punctuation including spaces and nada. Next step is to friggin create a new calendar from scratch and re-enter all the dates/info...but I'd still like to know what the heck is going on.
Anybody have any other success besides creating a new calendar?
PS - Confirmed that establishing a new calendar clears up the problem. The fun of data entry for all those appointments...

  • How can a hyperlink be included in a published calendar event?

In a published calendar (via MobileMe), I created an iCal event that included a hyperlink (http://www....) and refreshed the published calendar. When I looked at the published version of the calendar, the hyperlink appears in the event (and functions), but the calendar is distorted. If I remove the http:// and leave the rest of the internet address the distortion is gone and the calendar views normally. But, I lose the hyperlink.
Is there a technique to publish a calendar with events that include hyperlinks?
    Thanks.

The URL is in the event title (at the end)--I hadn't previously noticed the URL data element (but as you stated, it doesn't show in the published calendar event).
    Yes, I'm viewing at ical.me.com/....
    I'm using Safari Version 3.2.1 (5525.27.1).
The distortion is in the weekly view (day and month are OK)--the event is on Saturday (8 am to 5 pm). Essentially, the time scale on the left edge of Sunday (first day of the week) breaks off around 8:30 AM and appears in Saturday and is appended to the Saturday event. The Apple logo and the phrase "Created using .Mac" that is usually at the bottom of the time scale appears where 9:00 AM should be on the time scale to the left of Sunday. Sunday through Friday are grayed out each day from around 8:45 AM until midnight. Any events during those times appear on Saturday.
    Thanks for your interest.

  • How to make published calendar show month view by default?

I have a published calendar that I put into an iframe on a website. Unfortunately, it comes up in week view by default. I know that if you click on month view, it gives you a new URL that you could copy and use, but that URL is specific to a month and so when we get to April, for instance, the default calendar view would be month, but would still display March's calendar. Is there something else I can put in the URL to make the default view to the actual, current month?

  • Publish Calendar Group and events location lost

After publish the Calendar Group, which may contain more than one individual calendar and coded in different colors correspondingly, the published online view of the calendar group shows only one color. Is there a design fault in this? Shouldn't the published Calendar group retain the original individual calendar colors?
Also, the published calendar, individual events lost their locations. When I publish the calendar I checked the box for title and notes. There is nowhere for checking the location. Is this the reason for not publishing the location? Please correct the design. Thanks.

I'm also wondering why iCal event locations and URLs don't appear in a published (via .Mac) calendar. When I click on an event, I get Subject, Date, and Summary info (which is equivalent to the Notes field). It does not show the Location or URL field, however.
Any ideas on how to get this information on a published calendar?

  • Publish calendars  privately to dotmac

If you wish to publish your calendars so others you select can subscribe, but you not want them to be public, you can do so using dotmac. (If you simply choose to publish your calendars normally to dotmac, they are not private.) First, create a new folder on your iDisk in the "Sites" folder (e.g., "calendars" - without the quotes). Then, when you publish your calendar from iCal, choose "Publish on: a private server." In the "Base URL" box type http://idisk.mac.com/yourid/Sites/foldername (replace "your_id" with your dotmac id and "folder_name" with the name of your new folder). Enter your dotmac login and password. Your calendar will be published to your Sites/new_folder. Now you can click on your published calendar and choose "Send Publish Email" from the "Calendar" menu in the menu bar at the top of your iCal screen. The person who receives your email should be able to subscribe to your calendar, but it will not be public on dotmac. Using this method no URL will be sent with the email to view the calendar on the web.

Good idea... but what I regret is that I cannot open this published iCal calendar using dotmac when I am on another location.

  • Publish calendar on iCloud

Before iCloud I had a calendar that i shared on ical-mac.com (about the same as icalx) with other people.
That was very simpel. I selected that calendar in iCal and then choose for publish. Then I choose "own server" and filled in the wright data.
Any change I made in that calendar showed up in the published calendar. That was ideal!!
But now all my calendars are on iCloud and there is no possibilty to publish them!!
Does anyone knows a way to copy and synchronise a calendar to a locale calendar. Because when it is locale then you can publish the calendar.
    Thanks for your help!!

I'm afraid that (assuming the behaviour is the same as MobileMe) you only have the two choices:
    1. 'On My Mac', which can be published to a web page, but cannot be synced to the server and thus to other devices.
    2. Under your login name, where you can sync but not publish to a web page. You can share privately to people who have an iCloud subscription, or publicly to anyone who has a CalDAV reader - these include iCal itself and Google Calendar; so it's a bit more of a bother for people to see it but it can be done.
This is the method for public sharing in MobileMe (probably iCloud is the same but I don't know)"
    1. Control-click on the calendar and select 'Share'. In the pane which opens select 'Everyone'.
    2. Control-click the calendar and select 'Get info' - you will see the URL. Copy it.
    3. In your Google calendar, in the sidebar under 'Other calendars' click 'Add' and choose 'Add by URL'.
Paste the URL of your calendar in.
I did this and it worked, so far: however I added an event and this has not appeared when refreshing the calendar - it ought to. Google's Help says there is an issue with iCal subscriptions not updating, which is really helpful.
Mac users can subscribe in iCal: simply choose 'Subscribe' from the Calendar menu and paste the URL in. They can rename the calendar and should be sure to set updating to a suitable freqency as the default is 'Off'.

  • Are multiple colors possible on a published calendar?

Hi, on my desktop I easily see multiple colors, with each on for a different calendar. we have a published calendar for a group, that would be great if it were possible either to publish both with the same URL, or at least allow color changes for some of the items on the calendar again with just one url. Is this possible in iCal?
    Thanks.
    -wayne

    Wayne,
Unfortunately, published calendars are not capable of displaying individual calendar colors.
    Consider providing iCal Feedback.

  • Run XML Publisher Report  via URL (like Oracle Reports)

    Hi All,
Is it possible to run xml-publisher report via URL?
In Oracle Reports works this fine:
    http://test:7777/reports/rwservlet?server=test_bihome1&report=test1.rdf&userid=test/testv@db&desformat=pdf&destype=cache
We need this for public reports without user login.
    Thanks
    Thomas

    Thomas,
I was waiting to get home before Tim replied... He got the better of me this time :-)
You say you want to let your users run reports using XMLP just by clicking on an URL same way you do with reports and without having to login. If I got the question right and assuming that:
1.Your company is not overly concerned on who runs what reports
    2.Who sees what data
3.Your XMLP installation is on your intranet and firewalled from the outside
    What you can do is:
On the main page of your XMLP Enterprise installation you should see a folder called "Guest". Any report you create under this folder is run as user "guest" which means you don't have to authenticate yourself as you would normally do.
I have tested this on my home server and this is what I've done:
1.Logged in as admin or any other user you've created with admin privileges created a report under the "Guest" folder.
2.Copied the URL, on my server it is "http://samba.private.net:15101/xmlpserver/Guest/People/People.xdo"
4.Logged off as admin and pasted the URL to a new browser window
5.Hit return and Voila, my report runs without the need to login to XMLP.
Hope this helps. Let us know how you got on.
    Cheers,
    Joao
PS: If you want to see the report for yourself here's the URL from the outside: http://medeiros.homelinux.net:15101/xmlpserver/Guest/People/People.xdo
I'll keep the link alive for a couple of days.

  • How can I combine multiple icloud calendars into a single published calendar?

I have several calendars in Ical where I map my activities and schedules. Like many I need several calendars to categorise events.
Now, I'd like others to see when I'm free and when I'm unavailable. For this, I'd need to find a way to copy multiple Icloud calendars into a single one for publishing - and the published calendar would also have to sync to any update I make in the original calendar.
Any way to make this happen? Any third party app? Tried a couple - they were outdated and / or cumbersome.
If only there was a "smart calendar" tool in Ical …

It worked - up to the crucial point: after combining icloud calendars into one "on the machine" calendar, the latter is ready for going public. But of course - this public calendar will only contain the .ics files and will not sync for updates from the icloud calendars.
    And that's what I want.
If this problem is not possible to solve with the software available in the Mac - is there any known third party solution for this?
    (Apple: "smart calendars" please!)

  • Missing "dtend" entries on .ics files for a published calendar

From the top... I am using iCal Version 2.0.5 (1069), Mac OS X 10.4.10, and The Missing Sync for Palm OS v6.0.1; also the MarkSpace Events and Tasks conduits to sync my Palm with iCal via iSync.
My goal is to publish a grouped calendar to icalx.com (which I've used for years).
When I publish the calendar, everything appears to transfer fine, and I can see the published calendars on icalx.com.
HOWEVER, most events in the graphical views (such as day or week) appear to have lost their end times, and thus stretch to 11:59 PM that day (which would be the default).
I have examined the .ics file that icalx.com is receiving from my local iCal app, and it appears that on many of the events there is no entry for DTEND (the date and time when an event ends). There is an entry for DTSTART. I experimented with changing the end time for an event in iCal, and then refreshing the published calendar. The result is that DTEND is now defined, and the event shows up properly. Simply entering the same event ending time in the end time field does not result in a proper ending time on the icalx.com calendar. Changing the end time in iCal by dragging the lower boundary of the event box DOES modify the time properly on the icalx.com calendar.
What is perplexing is that the proper start and end times ARE shown in iCal, and on my Palm.
Has this kind of behavior been seen by others? Any hints on how to correct it, or where to start?
    Thanks everyone for your help.

OK, previously I went to the online version and clicked on the "Download" link in the left column, but I did not know if I re-published from the downloaded calender, would it replace/over-write the existing calendar or create a new.1.ics file.
I think I had tried this before, and the version I was updating, did not seem to update the version others had subscribed to, even though, I thought, I had re-published the same calendar.
Anyway, I have tested the "new" re-published calendars and they seem to be updating for the subscribers too.
Is there a way to make sure that I don't have any orphaned calendars? Some of the calendars have changed names and I was wondering if I am able to what is exactly sitting on my ME account. I can't find any of the calendars when I log into the account.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks
    Gary

  • Publish calendars in iCal 4.0.4?

In one of the recent upgrades, iCal changed from publishing calendars to "sharing" them. I want to embed an html snippet with my iCal in it, but if I can no longer publish my calendar it won't work. Is there a way in iCal 4.0.4 to publish a calendar, or at least embed a calendar in my iWeb? The way all of Apple's other programs interface so easily, I'd think this would be simple to do, so I hope I'm missing something here.

Also looking to "Share" the content of an iCal calendar to my regular website. Since upgrading my calendars my previous solution using InstaCal stopped working. Anyone have an answer ??????

  • Remove "time" from Month view on Published Calendar

I am trying to remove the time from published calendars when in the "Month" view. The time is not showing on ical on the computer... but shows up on the published calendar. This is taking up tooooo much room on the calendar.
    Thank you for any assistance.

    Hi HWTheoB,
In my opinion, you could add a content editor web part to your listview page, then in the "source editor" property of your CEWP you can type <style>.ms-cal-monthitem
    B {display:none}</style>.
In addition, for the similar issue, you can refer to the following threads, although it is for SharePoint 2007, but you can get some hints from these articles:
