Publish calendars in iCal 4.0.4?

In one of the recent upgrades, iCal changed from publishing calendars to "sharing" them. I want to embed an html snippet with my iCal in it, but if I can no longer publish my calendar it won't work. Is there a way in iCal 4.0.4 to publish a calendar, or at least embed a calendar in my iWeb? The way all of Apple's other programs interface so easily, I'd think this would be simple to do, so I hope I'm missing something here.

Also looking to "Share" the content of an iCal calendar to my regular website. Since upgrading my calendars my previous solution using InstaCal stopped working. Anyone have an answer ??????

  • Can't view published calendar with iCal 2.1 on  icalx

I have spent several days reading disussions and anything else I could find, but no luck.
I need to publish my boss' calendar online so the rest of our team can view it , up-to-date. We first tried publising it on .Mac:
We were able to view it on and off, specifically from PCs, which is what everyone else is on. Sometimes it would work, other times it would say it can't find the calendar.
I then tried using icalx. I finally got it to work with a "test" calendar from my Powerbook (with iCal 1.5.5 on OS X 10.3.9. Everthing worked fine, the page showed up on iCalX no problem. I then sent my boss the "how to". His calendar is now loaded on iCalx, however it does not work. He is running OS X 10.4, with new iCal.
I then had my sister publish one from my house computer to test it again, on OS X 10.3.9 as well, and it again worked fine.
When i click on the html page in iCalX, it says "Cannot find webpage" when I click on his schedule, but works fine with the other two "Testers" that I already had up.
It seems it is a bug in the new OS X ?
How can I get this to work? Thanks a TON in advance!
    Tom

I too had a similar problem. I published a couple of calendars to .Mac, iCalX, and iCalShare (I had iCalShare grab my calendar from iCalX). I wanted to see how my calendars looked from these different servers.
I really liked the look and feel of my calendars on the .Mac server but I could never view these calendars from a Windows machine. I also could never view any of the Calendar from the Mac calendar Library from a Windows machine.
I ended up having iCalX host my calendars.

  • Hard drive died, how do I re-establish a published calendar- from .mac?

I had (have) a published calendar on ical 1.5.5 on a workstation iMac. The hard drive died, but I can still acess the calendar from other workstations. A new hard drive is installed, and now I can subscribe to the calendar but not modify it. How can I regain control and make it a published calendar on my workstation again?
    Thanks

    Hi,
Subscribe to the calendar, then export it (File > Export). Save the exported copy. Delete the subscribed calendar in iCal. Follow these instructions to un-publish the calendar from your .Mac account. Import the saved version and re-publish it.
    Best wishes

  • How do I publish calendars imported into iCal from a .ics file to iCloud rather than MobileMe?

Having upgraded my iPhone4 & iPad to iOS5 and my iMac to OSX 10.7.2, I have been having trouble with duplicate calendar entries. Unfortunately, having deleted all but one calendar from the iCloud web interface, I heeded the mistaken advice to disable Calendars in the iCloud preference pane on the iMac and it deleted the calendars that had been removed from iCould from the iMac as well.
A few false starts later, I was able, after disconnecting all my devices from the net, to restore my iCal calendars with TimeMachine from before the chaos started then exported them as .ics files. After rebooting and re-enabling the network to the iMac, iCloud sync purged the restored calendars from iCal again, so I imported the .ics files into iCal and published them again, but the publish options only include MobileMe or a private server, so I chose MobileMe. iCal now happily shows all my calendars on the iMac again, but the iCloud web Calendar app can't see them.
How can I get iCloud to see the published iCal calendars again?

Solved, I think! What you need to do is log on to your icloud account at www.icloud.com, go to the calendar screen, click the gearwheel and choose New Calendar. Create a calendar here (ie up on the iCloud) with the name you want for your imported calendar data. Then switch to iCal - you may have to quit and relaunch for the new iCloud calendar to appear (or it will probably do so automatically if you wait long enough) then import the data using File->Import->Import... When you get to the step where it asks which calendar you want to import the data into, choose the new iCloud calendar you've just created. Job done!
To be complete in my answer, I don't think you can exactly do what you want to do, at least not at present. There doesn't seem to be any way to publish a calendar to iCloud after the first time you set up iCloud on your Mac when it exports any calendar data that is on the Mac at that time. I suppose that Apple feel that the way I have described works by exporting from one calendar and importing into another, so no need to provide a way of doing it directly.

  • How to publish a calendar with iCal?

How can I share calendars in iCal with iCloud?

There is a difference between sharing and publishing. The latter means getting your calendar to display as an ordinary web page: firstly this cannot be done with a calendar listed under iCloud (this was also true with MobileMe) but only if it's listed under 'On My Mac'. The facility is still available in iCal for such calendars, but the problem is that it has to be published to a CalDav server because MobileMe, which used to take the published files and turn it into a web page, is not longer available. It's assumed in the Help that you are going to be running such a server yourself, which obviously requires a fair standard of technical knowledge. It's been claimed that Box.net can do this but I've seen complaints that it doesn't work.
Sharing, which you can do with iCloud calendars, makes the calendars available for others to subscribe to in a CalDAV client - iCal itself is such a client, and you can also do this with Google calendar - this does require the recipient to have a Google account. The process with iCloud is described in this page and the pages following:
    http://help.apple.com/icloud/#mm6b1a8694
BusyCal has various sharing options and there is a full user guide available here:

  • ICal won't update published calendar

I have a published calendar on .Mac and when I update in iCal, it won't update on my .Mac account. Also it shows that the published date is Dec 31, 1969. I have checked my date and time on system preferences. I have deleted and recreated this calendar, and it has not solved the problem. I have even unpublished and published several times, all to no avail. I have iCal 2.0.2 installed. Anyonw else come across this problem?
    Thanks.

When you publish, is "Publish changes automatically" checked? This would explain why updates don't happen. Also in .Mac system preferences under the "Sync" tab, there is a choice of how often to sync. Even if this is set to "Automatically" the sync isn't instant. Check this setting. I don't know if it affects published calendars or not, but worth checking nonetheless.
I wonder if in the Date and Time system preference ("Date & Time" tab) you have "Set date & time automatically" Checked?
Mine publish fine, no problem: http://ical.mac.com/dancingbrook/Social
Still no solution for web To Dos though perhaps via a webDAV server? Try:
    http://www.icalx.com/
Also, can I assume you've tried trashing your ical preferences? ~/Library/Preerences/com.apple.iCal.plist

  • ICal published calendar : wrong times !

    Hello all
I succesfully published my "work" iCal schedule on the internet via .Mac, but although the times of events are correct on my "home" iCal (ie the one on my computer), those on the web are wrong ! (9 hour difference)
I have checked everything, and can't find the problem...
    anyone ?
    thank you

This is a stab in the dark - but have you checked the timezone where your web-based server is physically located? Could iCal be adjusting your calendar to the actual timezone recorded on the server you're using? f there's a 9-hour difference then that's a start point.

  • ICal won't publish calendar to mobileMe... ideas?

I've used iCal for years but since the changeover to me.com I can't get my iCal calendars to publish. When I click on "Publish calendar" it says it's published successfully, but when I click on the visit page button I get "page not found" error message.
    Anybody have any ideas?
    MJM

    bnance,
...are you saying your published calendar can currently be accessed from your ical.me.com link and that just ours is not working or was your answer a theoretical one?
Mine works as advertised. I did have to unpublish, but that was in July. The calendar has auto published without problems since that time.
The common clue that I notice between the OP and your system is that neither has been updated to the most current version of OS X available for the Tiger/Leopard. I would therefore advise updating these systems using the appropriate Combo Update (OS X 10.4.11/OS X 10.5.5).
    Good Luck.

  • ICal: Publish calendar via AppleScript?

Does anyone know if it's possible to publish a certain calendar in iCal by using AppleScript? (Without, it's no problem...)
I have tried all the [to me] obvious things, but can't figure it out. There are no suitable functions listed in the Applescript menu.
    Any suggestions welcome...

    Hi Roger,
you are right, I didn't know there was this possibility.

  • Publishing multiple calendars in iCal

Is there a way to publish multiple calendars in one view. It seems that I can
only view one calendar at a time. I want to be able to overlay all of my calendars
so we all know who's doing what when.
I''m a Mom with two girls with lots of sports activities, I want the girls to be able to view all events in all calendars like I can see on my Mac.
    Thanks for any input.
    Roberta

    Hi Roberta,
You can publish multiple calenders by creating a Calendar Group. Here are some styp-by-step instructions:
    - Open the menu 'File' and click the option 'New Calendar Group'.
    - Once this new Calendar Group has been created, rename it (for instance to 'Family', 'Sports' or whatever you like).
    - After renaming the Calendar Group, add the calendars which you wish to publish.
    - FInally... publishing Calendar Group works the same as for single calendars (select the Calender Group and choose from the menu 'Calendar' the option 'Publish').
    I hope this works.

  • ICal ignores time zone in published calendar

I'm trying to make a an online calendar that is automatically generated using events from a database.
All events are in the Dutch time zone, so I added a time zone component to the .ics file. When I try to subscribe to the calendar in iCal everything works fine, except for the fact that the time zone information seems to be ignored and all events are displayed 2 hours too late because they are set to UTC/GMT.
This is an example of the generated .ics file:

What am I doing wrong here? Does anybody know an online calendar in a non-standard time zone that works in iCal that I can use as an example?

  • How to Sync two calendars in iCal

OK, here is my problem. I can access two calendars with iCal (one is on Google Calendar and the other one is on a Microsoft Exchange 2007 server) how can I synchronize them the best? I want to keep both in their original place, but I also want things to show up in both.

    Stephen,
It seems to me that you have correctly determined that it makes sense to only publish an identical calendar from one of the computers.
After appropriately backing up your calendars, you might want to consider Resetting .Mac Sync. It appears as if both of your computers are using 10.4.6, but just in case..."If you sync between computers with different versions of Mac OS X, try to reset the sync data from the computer with Mac OS X 10.4, if possible."
Make sure that "Synchronize my calendars with other computers using .Mac is checked in the General Preference of the iMac.

  • How can I combine multiple icloud calendars into a single published calendar?

I have several calendars in Ical where I map my activities and schedules. Like many I need several calendars to categorise events.
Now, I'd like others to see when I'm free and when I'm unavailable. For this, I'd need to find a way to copy multiple Icloud calendars into a single one for publishing - and the published calendar would also have to sync to any update I make in the original calendar.
Any way to make this happen? Any third party app? Tried a couple - they were outdated and / or cumbersome.
If only there was a "smart calendar" tool in Ical …

It worked - up to the crucial point: after combining icloud calendars into one "on the machine" calendar, the latter is ready for going public. But of course - this public calendar will only contain the .ics files and will not sync for updates from the icloud calendars.
    And that's what I want.
If this problem is not possible to solve with the software available in the Mac - is there any known third party solution for this?
    (Apple: "smart calendars" please!)

  • Lost a calendar in iCal

I inadvertently deleted one of my calendars from iCal. I don't have a backup database. Any way to retrieve that calendar and it's listings??? Not optimistic.

    Donna,
You said that you did not have "a backup database."
Did you ever publish the calendar or use any sync services?

  • Automator plug-in added to read-only calendar in iCal

I was trying the 'Tiger Tip of the Week' about creating an Automator workflow saved as an iCal Alarm plug-in. Unfortunately, it added it to the 'Holidays' calendar, which is read-only. I found where the plug-in was saved in my library and deleted it, but the 'Boston Globe' event was still on my calendar. Luckily, I was able to unsubscribe and re-subscribe to the US Holidays shared calendar and make it disappear, but what did I do wrong? I didn't have any options available when saving as a plug-in.

One way I've gotten around some weird problems like this in the past is to export my calendars to the Desktop, and then re-import them back into iCal. I'm not sure if this will work for you, however. You also might try backing up and restoring via File->Back up iCal... . Hope that helps.
Edit: if the problem is related to a calendar you've published, Apple offers these suggestions (from iCal Help):
    ■ If you want to change events on a calendar that you published on the Internet, but you’ve deleted the calendar from your Calendars list, you need to re-create the calendar with all its events, give it the same name as the published calendar, and then publish the new calendar. The new calendar will replace the previously published one.
    ■ If you can’t change an event for which you are the organizer, or you can’t change the attendee settings for an event you’ve been invited to, make sure all your email addresses are listed on your Address Book card (the card marked “me”).
