Publish - Dashboard to BI Launchpad

Hi experts,
My dashboard (4.0) based on an BEx-Query and is published to SAP BW. Is there a way to publish this dashboard to the BI Launchpad with the same connection -> Prompts und reading data from BW? or is it possible to create an url to the published dashboard in BW
br Otto

Hi Otto,
BICS-based dashboards currently cannot be published to BI 4.0 Enterprise Platform. They still must be hosted in NW. There are plans to have the functionality available in the near future.
You can give url to the published dashboard in BW.
Please refer below thread for details.

Hope it helps.

  • Publish dashboard pages 11.1.1.5

Hi, I'm running in to an issue I haven't been able to resolve.
I've created personal dashboard pages that are linked to personal analysis, personal prompts, filters, etc. According to the OBIEE documentation, if I go into one of my personal dashboard pages, I can choose to publish that to a shared dashboard. According to the documentation this should not only publish the dashboard page, but also make shared copies of the personal reports, prompts, filters.
However, when we try that, I'm not seeing that behavior. It does look like it's publishing the dashboard page - but the objects on it are still pointing at my personal stuff - they haven't been copied in to the shared location anywhere.
Does anyone have a work around for this?
    Thanks,
    Scott

No errors being throw. Yes, I've followed what I can find of Oracle documentation, which states (page 4-17 of the OBIEE 11.1.1.5 Users Guide):
    Publishing Dashboard Pages
You can publish a dashboard page to a shared dashboard location so that you can
    share the page with others.
When you publish a dashboard page:
    ■ Personal content (such as analyses, prompts, and so on) is copied to a destination
location that you specify and references updated as appropriate.
    ■ References to shared content are retained.
But I'm completely NOT seeing that personal content is being copied to the destination location....
    Thanks,
    Scott

  • Change Dashboard Button to Launchpad

Does anyone know how the change the current dashboard button (F4 key) to make it start launchpad instead. I noticed that this change has been made on the new Macbook Airs and on the new bluetooth keyboards. What about those of us with older macs (2010 Macbook Pro) that would like to have a quicklanch button to launchpad. Is there a way to do it? If not, how about a future update Apple, to at least give the option. Thanks.

Go into system prefs and choose keyboard. Set the F4 key to show launchpad. So now you have to push fn+F4(dashboard) to start launchpad! If you would like to not have to press fn, but just one button you can download FunctionFlip (do a google search) and enable it for the F4 key only. Be extremely careful when you do this since, according to my own experience, FunctionFlip doesn't seem to have have full OS 10.7 (Lion) support, at the moment. I did this for an "old" apple wireless keyboard with dashboard button. Thought it worked great until I tried the buit in keyboard on the computer (a mid 2011 macbook air) I had paired the wireless keyboard with. The key with the launchpad icon (F4) was completely "dead" on my laptop. It took me a day(!) to get the function of the key back. My guess is that FunctionFlip doesn't recognize the action "show launchpad" and somehow messes up some system file - located somewhere in the users home folder.

    Hi,
    Sorry for late reply.
We are doing flight recording for OSB performance testing.
We have followed below steps during testing
    a. Disabled all the services.
    b. Then we start flight recording.
    c. After 20 seconds gap we are enabling the services to poll data.
but after completion of flight recording it is showing wrong time interval in dashboard.

  • Trouble publishing dashboards

I am attempting to publish dashboards through my Dreamweaver-built web-site. When I preview the site through Dreamweaver using Firefox, I can see the Dashboards.
When I actually go through the web, the Dashboards cannot be seen.
Here is my dashboard-less homepage. There should be two small dashboards on the right hand column above the links. Then when you follow the links, you should be able to see the dashboard very big on a new page.
    http://www.otrscorecard.com/index.cfm
Any ideas why the dashboards cannot be seen?

No- there are two Xcelsius dashboards on the right hand side of thr web-page.
Also when you click on a link, another page pops up with a large Xcelsius dashboard displayed.
Everything seems to work when I pre-view the site in Dreamwaever, but not when I view from the web.
    Maybe a Dreamweaver problem?

  • Publishing Dashboard into bw -- All labels in spreadsheet gone

    Hi experts,
during publishing the xcelsius dashboard into the NW Environment, the SWF generation stops without any error message. Sometimes the message "Publish failed" appears (contains no error ID).
After that, ALL labels in the spreadsheet are gone. Instead of the labels the cells only contain  ' #VALUE '.
    The dashboard is useless then.
I can work hours with this dashboard and publish it a couple of times. Everything is fine and works as designed. But then, whyever, it deletes the labels. It happened three times, very frustrating.
    Xcelsius Enterprise SP3.3
    Connectiontype: SAP NW BW-Connection
Win XP & Office 2007 with latest patches
    flash 10,1,85,3
Does anyone know about this issue and how to fix it?
    Best regards,
    Dennis

    Hi David,
Thank you very much for sharing this information.
Our connections are BICS only, not via BOE. However, you are dead-on with the size of the dashboard. It is very big, with a lot of cells (20'000+), and lookups, and xTree components.
We sometimes have the "publish failed" message, and it could well be related to the corruption error.
We have had the issue also with one smaller dashboard, though.
SAP has advised to clear the portal cache (to remove possible inconsistencies in meta data), and to upgrade to Xcelsius 3.4.
We cleared the cache, but the corrupted dashboard did of course not come back.
We are currently running 3.1, and as we do not have a package for 3.4 yet (we are in a centrally maintained environment), we would like to avoid manual upgrades. For two days, the issue has not occured. We will keep an eye on it, and upgrade if the error returns. I will keep you posted.
    Cheers

  • BI Publisher Dashboard

    Hi all,
Can any one tell me is there any separate component available for Dashboard in BI Publsiher.Need some information about the dashboard
I'll be grateful if any one can share some documents or links for the same.My email id is [email protected]
    Edited by: user11282163 on Aug 12, 2009 9:37 PM

Do your reports bring back a huge amount of data? Per the BI Publisher Report Designer's guide:
BI Publisher layouts are best suited for reports of simple to medium complexity that do not require custom coding.
For enabling interactive sorting and filtering, the complete data set that is passed to the layout should be limited to several thousand rows to achieve a responsive report.

  • OBI-users cannot acces BI-Publisher-Dashboard

    Hola,
I have configured a few users in my system and also have putted them into the defaul BIP groups.
@ BIP Security is configured to use BI-Server (is there a document to understand the settings of this configuration?)
When accessing the system with the administrator user, I can view problem-less access BIP-component in my Dashboard, but when accessing with any other user the BIP-Dashboard componente causes an error.
How do i have to configure BIP-security?
    Greetings

    HY,
I have made an article on this subject with all step :

  • How can I change my f4 button so that it opens launchpad instead of dashboard?

I recently bought a new macbook pro but had restored it with my old macbook restore file. Doing this made my f4 key open dashboard instead of launchpad. Is there a way to change it so it opens launchpad?

With VPN software installed on your Mac all connections to the net will go through that VPN. you have to shut the VPN down for your normal traffic to go directly out to the net. That is just how it works.
Let me add that is the point of a VPN. So everything done on the computer goes through a Virtual Private Network to your workplace. Otherwise your computer could expose the work network to malware you might get from the Net on your computer.

  • Warning on Dashboards

    Hi,
I am facing a problem in trying to publish a dashboard on the platform. This dashboard uses a number of different Query Browser connections. The scenario is as follows:
On opening the dashboard on the launchpad, there appears to be no problems with it whatsoever, and the dashboard runs fine.
On opening the dashboard with Dashboards 4.1, I am faced with the following error:
After clicking 'OK', I republished the dashboard back to the platform. Both on previewing inside Dashboards, as well as on opening on Launchpad, I am faced with the following warnings:
I have observed the following in trying to rectify the error:
I have thoroughly checked all of the connections and the prompts which they use. None of the prompts remain unmapped - all of them are mapped to the required excel sheets.
After clicking OK, the dashboard seems to function correctly, with the warning still popping up occasionally - data seems to be brought in to the dashboard correctly from the universe.
I have tried saving the same on the platform under a different name, as well as locally on my system - this warning always seems to crop up.
I seem to be facing this same problem with a couple of other dashboards created on older versions of Dashboards as well.
Can someone kindly guide me towards having this problem rectified?
    Thanks and Regards,
    Eshwar

    Hi,
    1. For the first screenshot it usually happens when you try to open the dashboard from lower version to higher version, once you commit to continue then it wont prompt again.
    2. I have found a SAP NOTE, please check that and let us know whether it helped you.
1947226 - BI4.1: No data return for dashboard or message "Please input a value for the mandatory prompt" display when dashboard created with BEx Query which include the interval/range variable
Also once again please make sure all you prompt has been mapped properly and prompt values has been passed properly at the time of invoking the dashboard.
    Hope this helps!!!

  • Best Case - Saving Design Studio in BI Launchpad or Netweaver?

    Hello all
what will be the Best Case to save a Design Studio? We are using to deploy the Netweaver Portal.
Would it be better to save it to the Netweaver and transport as like a WAD and publish with a iView? Or
would it be better to save it to to BO Launchpad, promote it and publish with a the Open Document Method?
    Any Answers would be great!
    Thank you.
    Adrian

I think this depends on the end user requirements
When you publish to the BI launchpad, then the Design Studio application is easily deployed to BI Mobile, which is one of the key features of Design Studio - "mobilize your dashboards"
For that consideration alone, I prefer deploying to the launchpad

  • Dashboard Designer Error - You do not have sufficient permissions to complete the request.

    Hi all
I have created a PerformancePoint Data Source library and a PerformancePoint Reports list on a SharePoint site. The PerformancePoint site collection and site features are also both activated. The data source library is in
the 'trusted data soruces' list in administration. Existing reports I have created show OK on the site.
When user, who has full control of the entire site, clicks "add a new item" in the BI Reports list, SharePoint launches Dashboard Designer OK.
The problem is when Dashboard Designer loads, it does not load the existing data sources & reports. Clicking on the refresh icon results in the error:
You do not have sufficient permissions to complete the request.
If I add this user to the Site Collection Administrators list, the user can refresh and view the data sources & reports OK. Is this a requirement to create reports in Dashboard Designer? It is not acceptable to set all
our report designer users as the site collection administrator.
    Cheers
    Tyson

    Hi,
Have you also tried to assign rights using the technique mentioned in the above given document (i.e. using Dashboard Designer):
Important To assign or change user permissions for dashboard items, you must have
Full Control permissions. Although you can create and publish dashboard items with
Design permissions, you cannot assign or change permissions for dashboard items unless you also have
Full Control (Site) or Site Collection Administrator permissions.
Use the SharePoint Permissions dialog box to assign or change user permissions for a dashboard item. You can open the
SharePoint Permissions dialog box from Dashboard Designer or from the SharePoint list or document library that contains the dashboard item. The following sections describe both methods.
Edit user permissions in Dashboard Designer
In the Workspace Browser, click PerformancePoint Content or
Data Connections, depending on the item that you want to modify. Then, in the center pane, double-click the dashboard item to open it for editing.
In the ribbon, click the Home tab, locate the Item group, and then click
Permissions. A browser window opens, which enables you to view or change the SharePoint permissions for the dashboard item that you opened.
Use the SharePoint permissions dialog box to modify the user permissions for your dashboard item, and then save your changes.
Edit user permissions in a SharePoint list or document library
Locate the dashboard item that you want to modify in its SharePoint list or document library.
Select the check box that is next to the name of the dashboard item. At first glance, you might not see a check box next to your dashboard item. The check box is visible when you put your cursor next to the
Title column, which is located next to the name of the dashboard item. The ribbon appears in the SharePoint site.
In the SharePoint ribbon, click List Tools, and then click
Items. Locate the Manage section, and then click
Document Permissions. A SharePoint Permissions dialog box opens. This enables you to view and change the user permissions for the item that you selected.
Use the SharePoint Permissions dialog box to modify user permissions for your dashboard item, and then save your changes.
Please tell us if this approach shows different permissions assigned and solves your problem.
    Thanks and best regards,
    Martin

    Hi Guys,
Thanks for your response! We got the IPad connected to our network and the connections are working.
Here's what I did to view the report on Ipad -
Saved the dashboard on BI Launchpad in Mobile format.
Downloaded the App and set up the connections.
I can view the dashboard but there are components that cannot be seen on Ipad because of the compatibility.
    Any suggestions?

  • How do you remap F4 to the Dashboard in Mavericks?

Just want to remap the F4 key to the Dashboard instead of Launchpad.  Launchpad is completely useless.  Dashboard is worth having.  Fixing either of these to any specific key is ridiculous.  Epic fail Apple.
Have tried deleting the symbolichotkeys.plist file (and .plist.lockfile) with no luck.  Tried changing some numbers around in the .plist file according to a write up for Lion wlth no luck.  Tried all the remapping options in system preferences both in the Keyboard and Mission Control areas.
Would even be willing to just completely get rid of Launchpad.  Help?

    danakasind,
go back into the Keyboard pane of System Preferences and select its Keyboard tab. Is its “Use all F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys” checkbox checked, or is it unchecked? If it’s checked, then you’d need to press Fn-F4 to have it show the Dashboard, if F4 hasn’t been mapped to anything other function.
Next, select its Shortcuts tab. On the left-hand side, select Launchpad & Dock, and ensure that the Show Launchpad checkbox is unchecked. After that, select Mission Control on the left-hand side. On the right-hand side, check the Show Dashboard checkbox, and click where it says F12; it will reveal itself as an input. Press F4 to replace F12 with F4.
I’m running 10.9.1, and this works on my MacBook Pro.
