Publish Error: Couldn't reach the .Mac configuration server.

I get this Error notice every time I try to publish. Then it tells me to "try again later".
What is a configuration server? Is this something in MY System Prefs that I can change? (ie Network proxies).

I have been uploading to my iWeb 08 site successfully for weeks. I upgraded to OS 10.5 Leopard, and ever since, when I try to update my website, i get the message
"Publish Error - Couldn’t reach the .Mac configuration server. Try publishing again later."
I am fully up to date with all my software, and the problem must be linked to the installation of 10.5, as I literally uploaded 3 days before I installed it, and now when I try, I can't - I must have tried 30 times, on different networks, just in case, and nothing seems to work. I can sync with .Mac, and get my mail, it's just iWeb - any suggestions???

Hi there
Try this - it's not an ideal solution but I have tried literally everything else.
1. Copy the file named Domain from your own user name/Library/Application Support/iWeb - paste it into Macintosh HD/Users/Shared
2. Create a new user account in Accounts. Call it Publishing. Make it an Admin account.
3. Log on as Publishing.
4. Open iWeb once, start a new site, doesn't matter what - then close it - this is just to create the correct folders.
5. Copy and paste Domain file from Users/Shared to your Publishing/Library/Application Support/iWeb - overwrite the Domain file that is in there.
Then open iWeb (still logged in as Publshing) - it should be your existing site from your original username - change something so it needs publishing - then Publish all to .Mac - it should work. Not ideal, but it will allow you to publish.
The problem (I think, but I'm not sure) is that something is clashing in one of your preference files for one of your programs, but there's no way to work out which one... let me know if this is successful, as I would like to know.
This is what i did initially - I actually re-installed Mac OSX Tiger eventually, as I find Leopard too glitchy at the moment, I'll wait till it's had some fixes.

Error: Couldn't reach the MobileMe configuration server

I'm trying to be a 2nd editor for someones iWeb website who is hosted on MobileMe with a Godaddy redirect.
I've transferred the Domain.sites2 file on to my computer and then transferred it to a Dropbox account. I've symlinked ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb/Domain.sites2 to the Domain.sites2 package in the dropbox folder. I fire up iWeb and still receive the above error.
Arriving at this forum, I've done a search and found the solution given to be:
deleting:
~/Library/Preferences/iWeb
~/Library/Cache/iWeb/*
and then rebooting and firing up iWeb again.
It fails with the same error. I checked my Console.app and noticed this error:

I'm also having the "kDMTransactionHadError" with iWeb in Console. Lots of so-called "fixes" for iWeb seem to fix the problem for one or two tries, but it always returns. So my question is did the above fixes solve the problem permanently or did it return?

Publish Error: Can’t create the file “shapeimage2_link0.png.” The disk may be damaged, full, or you may not have sufficient access privileges.
Now, i cancelled and re-installed I web + all updates, but nothing happened, I am stuck! I do not know which is the file missing or giving error
Any news? what shall I do?

well, after a few tries I checked the point were it stoped uploading and I create a new page from scratch copying all images from scratch and it worked.
Idt does not work if you duplicate a page, you have to create a new one..possibly differentI.E. instead of MOVIE I chose the blog one.

Are you using Adobe Reader or Preview to view the file? Can you get the sender to resend the file?

This console message is repeating, non-stop, every 15 seconds.
Anyone have any suggestions to make it stop?

It seems the problem was a broken database Spotlight.
That's what helped me:
sudo rm -rf /.Spotlight-V100
cd /System/Library/LaunchDaemons
sudo launchctl load -w com.apple.metadata.mds.plist
That will start the re-indexing your hard drive to Spotlight.

Does the mac mini server have the same hardware configuation as the regular mac mini with server software or is the hardware different (aside from the i7 quad core and dual hard drives)? I want a mini with a quad core i7...

Your assumption is correct. The server does however only
have the Intel HD3000 graphics like the base model with
no option, at this time, for the discrete graphics chip. So,
depending on what you are using it for, that could be a deal
breaker. Remember that your MBP does have a discrete
graphics chip.
I have a 2011 Mini Server connected to a Thunderbolt display
that gets used as an engineering workstation and general
personal use (some photo editing, LP restoraton, general
internet browsing). You simply just not enable any of the
server services. I find the combination to work quite well
for my purposes. I also have a 13" 2.7 GHz i7 Macbook Pro
which is pretty much strictly for work. As far as CPU
power it is pretty much equivelent to your Mini. For the most
part I find the Mini does outperfom my MBP. I heavily use
Parallels and Windows7 virtual machines, so the more cores
the better.
So, If you do a lot of CPU intensive stuff that is multithreaded,
the Server may help. If it is graphics intensive and your software
heavily leaverages the GPU, you may actually take a hit on
performance.

When Apple first came out with the Mini with Snow Leopard server, even their sales support people said it came with iLife. (They no longer make that mistake.)
By using the statements of sales support and by referring to the claims on the iLife page (which you quote) -- with some insistence on my part -- I was able to get AppleCare to send me iLife for free. Worth a try. Though frankly, my time would have been better spent just buying the iLife.

I have a Mac mini 2010 running OS X snow leopard server, when I bought it I had after few days later some booting issues ,, hence I visited maintenance center & they just format it and every things going fine after the initial setup.
Few days later I had issues with the web service (wiki) ... that's make me decided to format the Mac mini by using the installation DVD which come with it.. since I don't have an external super drive I use what they called remote disk function by inserting the server OS X installation DVD on my iMac 20" Intel 2006 and use the DVD remotely through wireless/Cable.
The wired thing when I choose the distention to install the os in the Mac mini server it gave me an error the you can't install an older version to this volume !
I never had such issues with my other Macs,, did any one face such problem ??

I would use Parallels or VMWare and use the second drive to hold the virtual machine. That way the VM only uses the space that it needs and you can still use the remainder of the drive for other things, not to mention that you would not need to reboot to run windows.
Also Time Machine does not back up a boot camp partition.

I have a T-61P running Windows XP SP2. Within the past month, my System Updater started returning
"Error 75 received from the Package Index Server. Please contact the Support Center"
I uninstalled System Update and downloaded and installed again from the Lenovo site. Still displays same error message. I get 20% into the update when the error message pops up.
Any suggestions.

HKLM\HARDWARE\ACPI\DSDT\LENOVO\
HKLM\HARDWARE\ACPI\FADT\LENOVO\
HKLM\HARDWARE\ACPI\RSDT\LENOVO\
They should be in the form of your model number without the hyphen and not TP-xx___
In my case I had to change the TP-71___ that was showing in my registry to 87445BU. Once I did this the software worked without a hitch.

Publish Error: Couldn't reach the .Mac configuration server.
